Sarkozy Mocks Obama at UN Security Council: Hello, Big Media?
by Maura FlynnOne of my favorite features of the Newseum in Washington, DC is the daily display of newspaper front pages from around the world. Today, Canada’s National Post was a standout with Alex Spillius’ coverage of a clash between Presidents Obama and Sarkozy.
Obama: “We must never stop until we see the day when nuclear arms have been banished from the face of the earth.”
Sarkozy: “We live in the real world, not the virtual world. And the real world expects us to take decisions.”
“President Obama dreams of a world without weapons … but right in front of us two countries are doing the exact opposite.
“Iran since 2005 has flouted five security council resolutions. North Korea has been defying council resolutions since 1993.
“I support the extended hand of the Americans, but what good has proposals for dialogue brought the international community? More uranium enrichment and declarations by the leaders of Iran to wipe a UN member state off the map,” he continued, referring to Israel.
The sharp-tongued French leader even implied that Mr Obama’s resolution 1887 had used up valuable diplomatic energy.
“If we have courage to impose sanctions together it will lend viability to our commitment to reduce our own weapons and to making a world without nuke weapons,” he said.
Mr Sarkozy has previously called the US president’s disarmament crusade “naive.”

Leave it to the French to emasculate Mr. Obama.
It is time for Jimmy Carter to step up and scream RACISTTTT!
Like the song says: "The Road Goes On Forever and The Party Never Ends…….."
It's a crying shame when the French president has more balls and more sense than our own. My God.
France stop picking on our President. He is not really the Joker. BTW when he leaves office can he come stay with you guys?
Bah… Sarkozy and those Right-Wing French Nutjobs really need to just ACCEPT that Obama won the election – and if he wants to unilaterally socialize and disarm the USA, well BOO HOO!
Let's not forget Mondale…He screamed the other day!
He'd fit right in wouln't he?
I kind of like this Sarkozy guy………
It's pretty bad when a Frenchman, who normally goes hunting for bear with a piano, shows you up!
Yet another diplomatic victory

Surprise! Iran has yet another secret nuclear facility.
Iran revealed the existence of its covert uranium enrichment facility to the IAEA this week after it discovered the project’s secrecy had been breached by Western intelligence agencies.
An official told FOX News that Iran revealed the existence of the second plant in a letter sent Monday to IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei.
Iran is under three sets of U.N. Security Council sanctions for refusing to freeze enrichment at what had been its single known enrichment plant, which is being monitored by the IAEA.
A senior administration official told FOX News that the U.S. has been tracking the secret project for years.
U.S. intelligence believes that the secret Iranian nuclear facility is in an underground tunnel complex on a military base controlled by the elite Revolutionary Guards.
How can this be? Didn’t Obama say he would meet with Ahmadinejad at any location without preconditions during the first year of his presidency? Didn’t he send the people of Iran a nice video greeting after he took office? Didn’t he invite Iranian diplomats to American 4th of July parties? Didn’t he give Ahmadinejad and the mullahs a pass on the brutal crackdown on protesters this summer? Hasn’t he been pressuring Israel to give up its settlements? All that tongue slathering of Iranian ass and all Barry has to show for it is yet another secret military facility?
By the way, the justification for ending plans to deploy missile defense systems in Poland and the Czech Republic was that the Iranians were no longer pursuing the development of long range missiles. Maybe today’s revelation reveals that we really don’t know what the hell the Iranians are doing, huh?
What more do we need to know about Iran’s projects and plans? I have visions of our political leaders climbing from the rubble of the nuclear blast, brightly aglow, riffling with radioactive hands through the latest report they are about to discuss, revising yet again their estimate of when Iran will get the bomb, and whether to consider fresh measures — after, of course, another round of talks.
Speaking of the illustrious Mr. Carter, here is an excellent article:
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/1508...
It closes with:
"Jimmah has become irrelevant, shrill, and incredible. Until he prays for true peace, and for real change on both sides of the dispute, his one-sided prayers are hollow, his words as dry and lifeless as the desert sand. "
It is a fitting obituary for the Punctillius Peckerwood from Plains………
It is pretty clear and simple in this instance with Obama. He is a junior Senator with less than two years experience and he is simply in over his head. Period! America will take a beating for this until he is removed from office in 2012. Lets just hope in the 2010 elections the "other Party" can make some headway and get this balanced out and we don't have this one Party BS going on and the interests of the people come back into play for a "change".
I guess we need to start getting our News from the Canadian Newspapers. Now that might be Change we can believe in!
Their tagline at the Canadian Free Press says:
"…..Because without America there is no free world."
That says it all!
"If the words 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness' don't include the right to experiment with your own consciousness, then the Declaration of Independence isn't worth the hemp it was written on." – Terence Mckenna
I never thought i would live to see the day I would have more respect for a French president then my own president….I guess cats and dogs will start sleeping together now.
SO…
I guess "french fries" is okay now…
Nice to know they figured it out…wish we had before November last year…
The picture of B.O. reminds of a Seinfield episode…."It wasn't a pick….no pick!!!"….sorry, I digress.
A prediction:
I watched them all at the UN.
Obama, Quadffi, Achmedinijad and Chavez; The Quartet of Fascism.
I also watched Benjamin Netenyahu, I listened him say "Have you no decency, have you no shame?"
I watched the Press Conference today with Obama and Sarcozy. The world stage is being set.
Between now and the end of the year, Israel will take Iran, and all bets are off. The feces will hit the fan…….
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

YES!
Sarkozy is channeling Napoleon instead of Vichy lately. o_o
Is it just me, or does he remind anyone else of the infamous Steve Urkel……..

Mr Sarkozy is flouting our French Constituion right before our eyes, he is our French version of Napoleon the very little given to the nephew of Napoleon because of his ridiculous and at the same time , undemocratic, arrogant style. You can call Mr Sarkozy racist because his minister of Justice just said that accepting one arab in the our right wing party was ok, but when if we have more it is a problem, other people making reference to the fact that a french not eating pork and not drinking bear was not really French (unfortunately that was caught on tape). Also Mr Sarkozy has constituted himself as plaintiff in a legal case, he can´t under our judicial system because himself has immunity, this is a no-no since the principles established post our 1789 revolution independence of Justice and Executive Branch of government. However he is likely to loose just because of that in the high EU court of Justice. Je suis Francais, mais aujourd´hui j´ai honte, which means I am French and I am ashamed, please do not give a platform to this man! At other times Mr Sarkozy was caught making derogatory comments about the Turks in general, bizzarely in terms very similar that we had seen 70 years ago by the Prefet de Police (Chief of Police in Paris) 70 years ago about the jews, which were: The jews don´t integrate, they stay among themselves, they marry amongst themselves so on so forth…. You change Turks for Jews and you get the same speech, my ancesters went to jail and were starved by the regime of second world war because they rose against such regime, I am just disgusted, fortunately I live oustide of my country right now.
Sarkozy isn't your typical Frenchman…his ancestry is actually Hungarian.
The thing is, Obama was brought up to be a MARXIST, he doesn't see himself as an American and doesn't know nor understand American history.
First it was his crazy, under lefty mother who "taught" him to revere Malcolm X ( but only that part of Malcolm's life, when he was a white hating, loathsome, hate spewing jerk ) and goodness knows what other anti-American nonsense.
Then she shipped him off to her parents, in Hawaii, where her father, also a committed, very weird lefty, took over the job of getting him a for real black CARD CARRYING COMMIE and pervert; Frank Marshall Davis. Frank did quite a number on Barry and it was Frank who was the link to all of Barry's subsequent mentors and "helpers".
In truth, Obama is the real life MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE and it shows!
If this was a novel or a movike, nobody would believe that this could really happen, but it has.
My heart harkens back to a simpler time in America: Going to church on Sunday morning, followed by a big family dinner. Watching a baseball game with your dad, hanging out with friends, playing "kick the can". Oh, those care free days, when we, as Americans knew that the dictators and terrorists of the world would be treated as such. A time when they knew it too…you could tell by how they addressed the UN General Assembly, calling our President the "great satan". The vitriol and hatred spewed by these scumbags toward our country made me feel…well, patriotic. They could say what they wanted in front of the impotent UN, but they dare not push their agenda past reckless words, else they suffer the crushing blow of the American fist crashing down on their heads, and sending them back to the 14th century where they belong. But now, Khadafi, Ahmadouchebag, and Chavez heap big praise on "our" President. Hard to believe that school children in Burlington, NJ and these fascists share the same opinion of President Obama…..Don't worry though. If Iran gets too uppity, I'm sure Obama will give them a "good talking to" (without preconditions of course).
"Newseum"… very clever and very accurate.
A little snippet from the Presidents Speech to the UN a few nights ago:
"We continue to call on Palestinians to end incitement against Israel, and we continue to emphasize that America does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements. (Applause.)"
http://usun.state.gov/briefing/statements/2009/se...
Notice he didn't care to specify what defined an "Israeli settlement". Don't believe me? I read the entire portion of the speech regarding Israel. Basically Obama's just saying what Iran's President has been saying for years; Israel should be wiped off the map. Our prez just puts that Hopey Changey spin on it when he says it so it doesn't sound so harsh.
Also, I believe I can now go back to eating Frenchfries again.
…and Barry is channeling Neville. Not Aaron Neville; Neville Chamberlain…………."Peace in our time………"
The man is naive.
You are 100% correct, yet nobody grasps this. Life, it turns out, is stranger, and truer than fiction………..
What you say? None of our paper media carried a word of Sarkozys thoughts. Who in the heck woulda ever thunk that.
I can't pretend to know all the little facts that build the big picture of what is going on ( and what when on ) in France but I have to ask….did the jew not intergrate willingly or where they just shut out and not allowed to interate?
Golly! Where are the Hollywood elitists going to go now? France is out, obviously. Alec Baldwin, Babs Streisand, Cher….where will you go? I guess they'll have to just stay here in the good, old, United Socialist States of America!
excellent post Wyorich…..I'm closing on a house Monday out in your neck of the woods(Wyoming?), getting the Hell out of crazy NJ.
I never thought I would see the day when a French President has bigger brass ones than our own.
Halle-e-fricken-lujah!
French fries with Grey Poupon Mustard, washed down with ice-cold Perrier.
I was growing tired of the Popeyes chicken and warm watermelon anyhow.
On a serious note, our Jew brethern are pissed, especially at Obama. They will act, they will act swiftly, and they will act with finality. They won't ask permission from the UN, or from Obama. The world game just changed this week.
Is this Militant Messianic Moocha Militant Megalamaniac daft?
Can someone please explain this to me.
1. Obama claims he wants a nuclear free world.
2. Iran, in defiance of the U.N. is pursuing intercontinental offensive nuclear weapons.
3. Obama says that Iran has a right to its nuclear program and refuses to assist in any real attempt to force Iran to abandon its military nuclear projects.
I'm confused. Can someone help me understand please. Obama wants a nuclear free world but won't enforce non-proliferation? Huh?
Wow, first a Canadian politician condemns the rabid anti-Semites of the UN whereas Obama handles them with kid gloves, and condemns nothing they say, then Sarkozy hands Obama his disarmament-dreamin' head! Man! If this keeps up, I'm going to have to say something like, who was it, Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon, Tina Fey (all of the above?)? I'll move to Canada or France! Obama is a national embarrassment. I am so sad for our coutry right now. I remember the good old days under Reagan, who knew how professionally, yet devastatingly, to shame the shameful, and the world had no choice but to agree. And here everybody thought Nobama was so smart. He is a fool. Nobody but a fool could look this bad next to the French and (no offense, neighbors to the north) the Canadians (usually very liberal and socialistic, therefore foolish).
Damn typos, never post before going to bed.
(Third shift worker =/)
The French are more focused on global security than we are. THE FRENCH, PEOPLE!!! Dear god Obama has succeeded in making us more socialist and wimpy than FRANCE. (Hint Late Nite Hosts and SNL: I think there's at least one or two jokes in this somewhere! Do we need to draw you a map?)
While Obama blows some more hot air, and reads off some more lofty meaningless rhetoric that fewer and fewer people are subscribing to, a Frenchman, of all people, tells it like it is. We truly are up shIT creek without a paddle.
It is a sad day when the French look stronger than America. Sarkozy and Netanyahu seem to be the only sane ones and the ones show real leadership. Obama was the court jester at the UN. He looked weak. Even Chavez is making fun of Obama at every turn.
Is Obama purposely making America weak so that Russia becomes the super power in the word. He is not John Kennedy, who finally stood strong against the Communist. It seems Obama is paving the way for Radicals and Communists to have control of the World.
I remember when Putin told Obama not to go socialist. Now France is telling the USA to man up and lock and load.
Obama said he surrounds himself with the best advisors he can get. They are not doing a very good job France has to tell us to grow a set.
@Sawb "Obama is paving the way for Radicals and Communists to have control of the World…"
Obama is a radical and a communist, so what part of this surprises you?
Vive le France! Of course, France is on its 5th constitution now. Hopefully, we can restore our original.
Curiously, French fries were invented in Belgium.
My goodness, French Fries have just become my most favorite food! "They" must grow them big over in France these days! Heck, I'll even acknowledge being part French these days; well, about 1,000 years ago.
OBTW: Sarkozy's a good man too!
When I was reading sci-fi, I loved it, but didn't believe that such things could happen here. Sadly, I was wrong.
Even 20 years ago, I bet that people ( those not involved in the sub rosa COMMIE groups here ) would NEVER have believed that what we're now living through, today, could EVER happen. We were asleep at the wheel, sadly, lulled into belief that the 1960s/'70s hippies/Yippies ( all of whose leaders were MARXISTS and most of whom were RED DIAPER BABIES ) had just died, changed, withered away. WHAT FOOLS WE ALL WERE!
Way back when, I wanted all of those people "taken care of" and they should have been! They were traitors back then, are still traitors today, and have found a way to now run and ruin this nation.
Eat FRENCH toast, FRENCH fires, and anything else you want to now.
OTOH, it is this American president whom we should be ashamed of! Obama wants Israel to go back to its pre 1967 War size……………………that's before it's completely wiped off the map.
I am boo-hooing because the French President just raspberried in the US presidents face. How sad is that when the same country that has more words for "surrender" and "appease" than any other nation on Earth tells Obama to grow a pair.
Sadly, the ONLY way to find out what is REALLY happening, these days, is to read foreign papers and/or sites on line.
Americas hat has it right. Without the US keeping the psychos at bay, these people would be a lampshade or speaking German. Sounds horrible, but it's true.
Are you kidding? Sarkozy was elected in France as a Pro-U.S. politician. Go figure. He must be scratching his head wondering how we could have elected someone like Obama. It's ironic that a French leader has become the voice of reason in this world.
And he's got a supermodel for a wife to boot. Go Sarkozy!
Eat FRENCH toast, FRENCH fires, and anything else you want to now.
I applauded Netanyahu for is candor in front of a group of people who would like nothing more than see Israel obliterated.
So is anyone channeling Winston Churchill?
Funny….we feel the same way about Obama.
Anyway, I'd do Sarkozy in a New York minute. Or would that be a Parisian minute. No matter.
Perish the thought! Don't you know that Churchill was an imperialistic warmongering racist?
Not even the GOP wants a Churchill. They'd be afraid that he would actually want them to grow a pair, get off Capital Hill and fight. Now, conservatives have the guts but we don't have the voice yet. That said, I think Palin, once she gets some more experience, may have the necessary teeth. Actually, she already does. There's no way she would have stood in front of the UN and not cleaned their collective clocks.
You know it's funny, but this week I had french toast THREE times! I haven't had french toast in probably 7 or 8 years. And then this week I just had to have it. I'm actually kind of hungry for it now. Hmmmm. Where can I get french toast at 5 in the evening….
Sarkozy and others in the EU have probably developed a slight case of the jitters. Obama has just shoved Eastern Europe into the waiting arms of the Russians. Obama has continuously snubbed GB, possibly America's best friend on the international scene. Obama is turning his back on Israel, one of the few democracies in that region. Obama is actively kissing the rear ends of the world's dictators (the West's enemies). Obama bent knee to the king of Saudi Arabia and makes it a point to grovel before the feet of Islam whenever he can manage an audience. Obama is doing his best to emasculate America by borrowing away our future while being hell bent on destroying the dollar.
All of this is happening while Europe faces a growing muslim population which shows signs of being a kettle ready to boil over. Russia is using energy to blackmail the EU while showing, once again, aggression towards it neighbors. Iran is close to having nuclear technology while being ruled by a muslim fanatics. In short order Iran will have little trouble finding missiles capable of hitting Israel or even Europe with nuclear weapons. This becomes twice as scary if you read this congressional report on the dangers presented by an EMP attack. http://www.empcommission.org/docs/empc_exec_rpt.p...
The world needs a strong America at the same time that Obama is pulling America's teeth. Sarkozy, no doubt sees this and is more then a little concerned. It was vogue for the French and other European elitists to criticize America while America was pulling both our and their weight. Now it looks as though they will have to pull a little weight of their own. I doubt seriously that the EU prefers it this way. We will no doubt start to see a different kind of criticism aimed at the US by EU leaders. They shouted and cheered when Obama got elected. It'll be interesting to see if they eventually come to yearn for the GW days after they finally understand just how little Obama has to offer them.

As of now, President Obama is no longer the leader of the free world. That title goes to President Sarkozy and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Maybe in three years and four months, we can reclaim that title.
It would help to elect a president who believes in freedom.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!
What a no cajones fairy you must be to be upped by a Frenchman. Everyday, it is just one blunder after another.

Sarkozy/Palin 2012?
I am a French expat and no the French don't want him either. Kadaffi will be happy to have his son back home.
don't we have a recall process? why wait? with as many violations to the constitution there ought to be a recall.
I think the French President has our POTUS pegged, one knows when a Frenchmen or Italian invites you to dinner you never decline and insult them espicailly when your staying in there home. Well appears Canada, France, Germany arent pulling any punches with the King and he isnt getting his way, hopefully we will all unite and do the same back here in the States.
you guys think that they will trade?
Why not make it yourself? It's easy to make.
Oh, are you still at work?
If you need to know how to make it, just ask me.
During the French and Indian war, some French soldiers had captured a British General.
They asked the General why he and his soldiers wore such bright red uniforms, because those uniforms made them pretty decent targets.
The General replied, "It is so because if I am wounded, my soldiers will not see my blood and they won't be alarmed nor panic."
From that day forward, all French officers, wore brown pants.

Sounds like another Frenchman:

Maybe Sarkozy read Cheney's new book? Cheney was right all along about Iran. It's a shame that "W" in his second term did not listen to the right advisors and listened to the lefties he chose and then was used by them.
I live in Ontario — This is astonishing to me. What do the newspaper's in Quebec report on?
Something very strange — the latest headlines seem to suggest that it is Obama who is leading the pack in his opposition to Iran's nuclear ambitions. How can this be after Sarcozy's directness. I believe that most in the media simply have no critical faculties left.

I'm not quite sure what you are getting at. The Newseum is an actual place, in Washington, DC of all places.
Jews don't integrate. Over the course of history, that has been one of the beefs that people have with them. There are Jews in many countries, but by and large they stick to themselves (often for good reason, of course).
I couldn't parse your first sentence, so I'll skip it, more or less. But our general impression of Napoleon I is that he was undemocratic and arrogant, and possibly a bit ridiculous. I doubt that many Americans know much about Napoleon III, but if he was from the same bloodline, that would make sense.
"You can call Mr Sarkozy racist because his minister of Justice just said that accepting one arab in the our right wing party was ok, but when if we have more it is a problem, other people making reference to the fact that a french not eating pork and not drinking bear was not really French (unfortunately that was caught on tape)."
I've always been mystified by this line of argument, because Jews and Muslims have basically the same rules about eating pork. I don't get the "drinking beer" part, because it is not against either religion (well, not against Judaism anyway, but it probably offends most strict Muslims). But anyway, the French should continue to eat what they have always eaten, and if they should happen to invite me to join them, I would eagerly accept.
"Also Mr Sarkozy has constituted himself as plaintiff in a legal case, he can´t under our judicial system because himself has immunity, this is a no-no since the principles established post our 1789 revolution independence of Justice and Executive Branch of government. However he is likely to loose just because of that in the high EU court of Justice."
Sorry, but I don't know what you are referring to.
"Je suis Francais, mais aujourd´hui j´ai honte, which means I am French and I am ashamed, please do not give a platform to this man!"
N'avez pas honte. My guess is that Sarko will be remembered as one of the better French Presidents. This isn't as difficult as it sounds perhaps. Consider the roll of French Presidents under the 5th Republic: DeGaulle, Pompidou, Giscard D'Estaing, Mitterand, Chirac, and now Sarkozy. Of these, I would guess that DeGaulle, Mitterand and possibly Sarkozy will be well treated by historians.
"At other times Mr Sarkozy was caught making derogatory comments about the Turks in general, bizzarely in terms very similar that we had seen 70 years ago by the Prefet de Police (Chief of Police in Paris) 70 years ago about the jews, which were: The jews don´t integrate, they stay among themselves, they marry amongst themselves so on so forth…."
Are you referring to Jews or Turks here? I don't know the context. The French history of antisemitism is well documented, but for most Americans, it is epitomized by the Dreyfus case, which occurred longer ago than that.
"You change Turks for Jews and you get the same speech, my ancesters went to jail and were starved by the regime of second world war because they rose against such regime, I am just disgusted, fortunately I live oustide of my country right now."
Sorry, but I really don't know exactly what you are talking about. Are you a Turk then? WW II was really bad for a lot of people, many of them European. But the "regime" of WW II cannot be blamed on Sarkozy, or Obama, or Bush, or anyone still living. It was largely crafted by Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo. Stalin helped too, because he made it possible for Hitler to start the war in the first place.
I don;t know what Sarkozy thinks about the Turks, but as someone else pointed out, his heritage is Hungarian, and Hungary was overrun by the Ottomans in the 16th and 17th century, so it is certainly possible that he retains an old grudge against the Turks. For my own part, I don't conflate the Ottomans with the Turks, apart from which it all happened a long time ago, in another country, and besides they are all dead.
