US Taxpayers Should Not Bail Out Greece!
by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN)The Obama administration has already bailed out everything within its sight in the United States, now we are looking at footing the bill for foreign nations. First we bailed out the insurance industry, the auto industry, the housing industry, the banking industry, along with other struggling sectors of our economy, now we are turning our sights on bailing out Greece.
This is wrong and the American people should not be asked to foot the bill for this bailout.
An interesting point, Greece is under a Socialist President and Prime Minister.

Us taxpayers should not bail out ANYONE.
Why should we give Israel BILLIONS every year, then? Especially when they only stab us in the back and make enemies for us?
What? No more Marshall Plans? I thought that we were going to do this over and over again until we get it right?
We need to clean up our own house and all foreign aid should be limited to excess food stuffs grown here. Oh that's right we have to import food now. Cut the UN and IMF NOW!!!
Right on! This is not some natural disaster where they need help…this is a disaster they have seen coming for many years. Don't they have the right to fail? A year from now when we need help, do you really expect them to help us…NOPE!
Uhh…I think it is President Obama who is turning our allies against us!
We have already borrowed Trillions to expand government waste, bail out reckless risk-takers who pursued easy riches, and prop up badly managed businesses. And now we borrow even more from China, to send to Greece (!), because they lived above their means too? Somebody help me, my head is about to explode.
“You think?” My God America, we need to completely flip Washington, they are out of control.
But who's going to listen to good old common sense like yours, Michele? Washington by and large has none, and Europe has lost its head altogether.
Greece is not too big to fail – in fact, it should be Europe's guinea pig and scarecrow simultaneously. Watch it fail and observe its failure closely – then let Greece serve as the warning to the rest of the Westernized world that socialist policies kill civilized societies.
Rep.Bachmann you are absolutely correct. We need to get our fiscal house in order here at home before we bailout, or help others that need too handle their own situation, they have created on their own. This is just one more reason why U.S. in the Tea Parties are very upset with the direction this White House, and Congress want to lead us. Keep standing up for U.S. and we will back you up, and stand with you.
Here is an idea I think all of US can stand behind. http://goooh.com/.

Restore the Republic,
God Bless America
Actuality is a Marshall Plan would be good if it followed a war. Right now all we are doing is throwing money at the problem with no reform in sight. Half a**ed reforms coupled with half a**ed wars is not working. this kinder gentler America has got to go.
It's the IMF that's helping Greece, not the US.
The US has a quota of 17.09 % and 16.74% of the votes.
If you don't like it, pressure the US government to leave the IMF instead.
And the US gets its "quota cash" to put into the IMF from…Martians??
You are obtuse. The US provides 17% of IMF funding so YES, the US is helping Greece since the IMF is bailing out Greece.
A correct statement would've been:
The US provides 17.09% of the IMF loan to Greece and not "US Taxpayers Should Not Bail Out Greece!"
And if you don't like it, then demand that US government leaves the IMF.
At least I have one girly-man.
Spin on it.
You seem so knowledgeable…since you display such intellectual prowess, could you also provide a chromatographic analysis of just how much oxygen is in the atmosphere of whatever planet you live on?
Anon…he's one of my favorites….famous for contributing to the dumbing down of America, one pathetic post at a time.
anon You are so stupid,It's amazing you don't forget to Breathe! America is 17% of the Financing of the IMF! What a Freekin Moron You Are! The Fed is Pumping our Money into Europe Also! Get a Freekin Clue will ya???
That's why anon is so excited about Obamacare…maybe now he'll actually get a weenie.
Rep. Bachmann, may I respectfully point out that it was in fact the Bush administration, an administration you were rather close to, that arranged for the TARP "bailout" plan. I think you are in error when you state the insurance industry was somehow bailed out, they have been posting record profits for years. Insurer AIG got assistance, once again the result of action by the Bush Administration. Finally, it is somewhat perverse to suggest that action by the US government can be taken to assist a member of the European Union. The IMF does not equate to the US Government. By the way have you filled out your Census form?
Anon, we know who you are and we have proved you wrong before. You are uniformed and need capitalism to increase your pay because your employer Soros is stingy. Please be quiet if you cannot offer proof. Seriously, at your buddies like Voice of Reason try to back up their lies, you just throw them out there. Get a hint?
How about helping people in your ghettos Obama? Detroit, Chicago, East LA, They could use OUR money. Better get olives not euros. At least you can sell olives. You'll be wiping your butt with euros.
You mean he is turning Israeli Conservatives against "us?" Horrors! I was so hoping that nice Mr. Netanyahu was going to be a good friend.
Peace. Brother.
Because you lost an election is no reason to snivel and whine and try to bring our President down.
Or lie that American taxpayers are bailing out Greece.
Grow up.
First, the International Monetary Fund — which is 17 percent financed by American taxpayers — says it is prepared to contribute up to $321 billion to the relief effort, with certain caveats.
Generally, the IMF says it will require countries receiving assistance to enact stringent deficit fighting measures, which would force nations such as Portugal and Spain that might be next in line for assistance to undergo bruising internal political fights to rein in their social spending in exchange for the aid.
Second, the Federal Reserve has reopened so-called swap lines that allow it to lend dollars to the European Central Bank in exchange for euros, which helps pump dollars into the EU economy.
The Fed has also opened swap lines with the Bank of Japan, the Bank of England and the Swiss National Bank. The Fed used a similar mechanism during the height of the 2008 financial crisis but had wound down the program as the crisis eased late last year.
How much will this cost American taxpayers? Nothing. The Fed's swap lines tend to make money, not lose money.
Besides, as the White House is quick to point out, Americans have never lost money on IMF investments.

You should slap whomever told you your backward little "fact".
Are you really that stupid? Yes, you are.
vote on TARP Bill 172 democrats yes 91 republicans yes. The Democrats also had majority and could have voted it down if they didn't want it.
Your name says it all. Go do your sister, or your brother.
Um…pretty sure Europe and Asia have a fair amount "pumped" into our Economy as well. And your exasperation, while noted, does nothing to alter the fact that Obama and "the administration" don't have much to do at all with the policies of the International Monetary Fund.
"Because you lost an election is no reason to snivel and whine and try to bring our President down."
You of course wrote those words on Kos as well during the Bush years, no?
It pains me to say that the deal is already done! We've already contributed to the bailout of Greece, and Americans weren't even given a voice — or a choice! At least Germany's parliament voted on it. Ours didn't!
Obama phoned Sarkozy and Merkel last week to tell them to suck it up and do a $1 trillion bailout for Greece and the rest of the continent. He's worried that if stocks crumble, as they are doing today, and the economy skids, his prospects for November are poor.
Tyranny has found a home in America, and it's name is Obama!
I had to laugh when I heard that Obama was telling Greece and Spain that they needed to cut back on government spending.
You have to admit reality does not get in the way of this man telling people what to do. If it was not so serious it would comical.
We don't support TARP. I called my representatives tirelessly to try and prevent it.
We don't support Bush for pushing TARP.
Any other questions?
Anon you do know who funds and backs the IMF?
No didnt think so, carry on with reading from your talking points, don't let reality intrude.
Oh by the way UNC says hi and wants you to bring the lotion to the mens room tonight.
At least he has one
November is coming fast, I can't wait to vote. We will still have Obama for another 2 years, but at least we might be able to render him impudent. Then pray to god we can undo the damage the progressives have done to out county when we take it back, and we WILL TAKE IT BACK IN 2012!!!
We did lose the election, but come November the shoe will be on the other foot and when you have your little mental melt down do please video it so we can all watch.
You really do need to read up on the IFM dipstick, you are making yourself look even more foolish than usual.
Perhaps you missed that the United States is the IMF's LARGEST contributor. And shortly after his inauguration, Obama "donated" over $100 billion to it of US taxpayer money.
You are a moronic dandruff licking sperm-bank who pukes on the whimpering freak and the pathetic vat of vomit.
Do trolls have genitalia?
I think he's going to have one removed…..
I wonder if they will get as sick of him lecturing them as I am of him lecturing America. When this clown has had a real job he can open his mouth again as far as I am concerned.
Your belly's in the way.
100% True! Not even our own businesses!!!!!
Let Greece borrow from China like us!
This ranks very HIGH on the stupid meter!!!

My work is done here.
heh heh.
Go back to your parents basement you little troll. Your anti Semite crap is unwanted here, if you want to spew that crap go find a site that will listen.
It shows how far Left we have come when there is an after-the-fact debate about whether we should bail out Greece's Socialist failure. Even 10 years ago there would have been general outrage and even the MSM would have questioned. And where is the drumbeat in MSM about socialist failure. They were so quick to condemn capitalism in 2008 ( not that a true free market has existed in US for quite a while – CRA anyone?)- where is the condemnation of Socialism. Instead we rush headlong into our own socialist "utopia". I hope its just a sign people are saving their outrage for the voting booth.
I get the first guess less than 10%
Let the Greeks dig themselves out of their mess. Bailing them out will only leads to more bail outs.
You aren't Rep. Bachmann are you? She made the claim that it is the Obama administration that is "bailing out" "everything." Try to keep up, and don't take things so personal, it only makes you look petulant, ridiculous, arrogant and befuddled, and suggests that you are perhaps covered with boils and live a life of sad isolation from human society.
Start with our national education system
We need to go several steps further with this Representative Bachmann. Pull out of the IMF and let them try to peg the money some other way. Quit GATT and NAFTA. Audit the Federal Reserve. That would be a good start. November is coming.
Befuddled? Who says I'm befuddled? Jeez.
Perhaps you missed the part where the IMF was not created as an extension of the Executive Branch of the United States Government. Try to keep up, and see if you can't mop up a little bit of that lickspittle before you comment next time.
I think you meant "impotent" there Allen.
What really Happened when you dropped as a Baby? What Really Happened when the bully's at your school gave you a swirly? What Really Happened when you got turned down by every girl in school, even the blind ones? What really Happened at the first bar you want to, were you at one that plays for the home team? What really Happened the marble that you had for mind?
OK. I friggin DEMAND it now! Are you with us? Which politician will you be contacting to demand this??
DING DING! You win the "Going Galt" award!

Thanks for correcting me, I was going to say cut his balls off, but I thought it in bad taste.
The European Union was set up to Compete with America was it Not???? Let them fall on their Socialism Sword! Don't Bring our Country down to their level,No matter what the Obamination is Saying!
It's not just Greece; it's Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, the UK and a host of other countries. This is a worldwide fiscal meltdown, and US taxpayers simply cannot afford to pay for rescues of every nation on earth. Moreover, with the news that the EU is now demanding even more centralized economics from all of them to save the Euro, US money will go for nothing but the USSR-ization of Europe. I can't see wasting one dime to save European Banks. This is "extend and pretend" writ large. Europe is crashing; why are we going to toss our money into the fire? It's pointless and reckless.
Uh…was that supposed to be in response? Because I can't quite follow your logic. I'm imagining right now this is not the first time someone has told you that. BTW, it's wrong for you to think of yourself as a dumbass, no matter how other people (and your Mom) may regard you.
Well you sure told him!
Is it difficult for you to type with your right hand and arm sticking out straight at a 45 degree angle ?
[...] Read the rest of this great post here [...]
You're not Michelle Bachmann.
She's the one who made the incorrect statement.
Oh, how wonderful it must be to live in lollipopland…
Boy,goin to mamma jokes! Must have a Harvard or Yale Progressive Degree!
Rep Bachmann, one of the few in Washington we can count on.
BUT….
Just as the US subprime triggered our problems, and our response TARP, did not save a single homeowner. It ALL went to the banksters behind it. Get ready US, since the Fed opened up the US exchange window for the EU, we're going to be on the hook for $50 BILLION + that is going to be paid to guess who, more banksters!!
WE'RE NOT BAILING OUT GREECE. We're bailing out the HOLDERS of Greek debt, more BANKS. Such as the French 25%, Swiss 20%, German 15%, US 5%, and so on. Of real concern is the near bankrupt holders such as the UK, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, who could quickly collapse if Greece defaults.
http://www.businessinsider.com/greece-pounded-col...
Oh give it a rest, giving money to your freeloading brother to feed his family when he just spends the money on drugs is bailing him out.
Same thing here, don't you have a brain? Can you not use the power God gave you to reason from an action to a consequence?
We work hard for our money, you libs just piss it away.
Far past time we stop working and supporting you.
You are so lame.
"may I respectfully point out that it was in fact the Bush administration" s really bad TARP plan that was rammed through congress by Nancy Pelosi without a single GOP vote, and similarly carried through the Senate by Reid…………………… all over the vehement complaints are actual conservatives.
The 17.09% works out to approx. $54 BILLION!!! Where does that money come from? The government does not produce anything. Any $ that they receive is from taxes you moronic moron.
Obama does not need any assistance. He is bringing himself down quite nicely. By the way your new Richie Rich comics are in. Your mom put them on your race car bed.
Your insults are extremely clever. It's the hallmark of serious debate to throw meaningless insults at people you've never met. Welcome to the new age of political discourse.
With you buddy, Barney Frank ?
It's so quaint, your commitment to this idea of exceptionalism. Except you aren't accounting for the fact that Europe has significant investments here in America, and the oil we drill here is sold there. So simply letting them fish or cut bait can have damaging repercussions here at home, perhaps resulting in political repercussions. Wouldn't that be a bitch?
Yes, I've never read a word of insult or invective at this very sober think tank. Thank you for your views I look forward to subscribing to your newsletter.
The Greek people should have some pride and pay their own bills, no US money for them them .
ROFL! Don't look now but you just got historical revisionism all over you. The first allotment of TARP was made independent of Congress, and Bush granted himself broad executive authority as to how the money would be spent. The second allocation was indeed voted on by Congress and Republicans decided to refuse to participate in averting economic disaster, leaving it all in Obama's hands. Nothing was rammed through, Republicans simply agreed as a bloc to vote no and abstain themselves from the process of finding solutions. Oh well, better luck next time!
ROFLMAO…In other words you're hoping to bring back ACORN?
You mean they attacked the USS Liberty and sold our secrets to the USSR because of Obama?
Any President that doesn't block the spending of American Taxpayer money to bail out a socialist country should be impeached.
is it UNC being removed from ANON
Free Speech has put his deflector shields up. Maybe a repeat will get through:
"OK. I friggin DEMAND it now! Are you with us? Which politician will you be contacting to demand this?? "
Oh look it is whatreallyhappened! More words of wisdom from the fly? I see you still suffer from that oxygen deficiency. Please wow us with your prattle.
Don't feed the trolls.
Gentle Readers,
Greece is not a poor country. It's GDP per capita compares well to New Zealand.
http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/eco_gro_nat_inc...
I can understand aid to Haiti, as there was an earthquake which devastated an entire country that was poor to begin with, but Greece has had no nation-wide disaster and is relatively affluent compared to most countries.
Rep. Bachmann is right.
Sincerely,
J Lepant Brighton CO
It is thin, you can bet.
From what I've read, his last "real job" was working at a Baskin-Robbins when he was a teenager.
Hey, it sounds good to me. Quitting NAFTA, especially, might just make Mexico wake up and start paying attention to its own problems.
Greece can sell off some of its ancient artifacts to pay the bills.
I l9ike this lady. She's a class act and should go places.
Redistributing ice cream.
Madame Representative,
I believe the time for this nation's financial woes is coming to a head. Do everything in your power along with other patriots in the Congress to stop this madness before it spirals out of control. We are about to lose our AAA credit status, and bailouts to Marxist governments is unacceptable.
Hear, hear.
*snicker* *snort*
And shaking down Baskin-Robbins' competitors.
