You Don’t Even Need A Potted Plant To Collect $50,000
by Lee StranahanIn the months of stories we’ve done on the Pigford settlement, people often leave comments that say “Hey, I have a houseplant — can I get $50,000, too?!?”
Since you asked — yes, you can. You don’t even need the plant.
Just visit FarmerClaims.gov and go to the bottom of the home page. You’ll find a link to a Summary of the Claims Process that brings up a PDF. At the top of page 2, it explains what you need to provide for proof if you’re claiming that you made a ‘bona-fide’ attempt to apply but were actively discouraged.
This short video I made lets people know how easy it is to collect.
What does this mean practically?
If you were to provide a specific, detailed, sworn statement saying (for example) that you accompanied your (now deceased) Mother to a USDA office in 1995 (to pick a year that falls within the time frame of the settlement) and that the mean people at the USDA wouldn’t even give her an application — it seems like that’s all you’d need to qualify for up to $50,000 under the Love ‘Woman Farmer” settlement.
The government is telling you what you need to know in order to file a successful claim with a low standard of proof that can’t really be proven one way or another. They created special instructions to cover just such a case. It seems like they really want to give this money away.
So, yes – you can collect $50,000. Obviously, you shouldn’t commit perjury — just because the press and politicians didn’t do any oversight on Pigford doesn’t mean they won’t on these settlements, right? And just because there’s no way to prove whether your Mom (or wife or sister or grandmother) actually went to the USDA or not, doesn’t mean you should take advantage of this obvious, giant loophole.
But job your memory. The woman farmer case is an active settlement and you very well may qualify for it. In fact, the claims packages haven’t been sent out yet. (I ordered mine last week.) And $1.3 billion is already set aside to pay it although that number could go way up since there’s no cap on “Tier 1″ claims

Back-door "reparations" for people 7 generations removed from slavery, and now "reparations" for women because 98% or more now living have always been eligible to vote according to long established law? When do they pass the "White Man tax" (with a Congressional and staff exemption) and take everything we own? Do it all at once – it will be more efficient…

Einy, without Lee's contributions on this, we would not know what a stinker it really is. And how much money is involved. While certainly not the amount of the federal deficit, it is exactly these programs, by the thousands and thousands, are what has drained us and continue to drain us. Personally, I'm glad he has continued to poke and poke at Pigford, as it is such an obvious fraud scheme on the taxpayers.

I wish someone, like a real journalist or documentary maker, would sign up for Pigford money just to prove it's so easy to scam. S/he could provide incorrect bank info so the money never actually gets transferred (or not cash the check) to avoid prosecution, record the whole project, and put it online.

I thought about becoming a farmer for a few minutes when I was a kid, and saw Mr. Green Jeans. He was always bringing cool animals to the Treasure House to show Captain Kangaroo, and I thought that if that's what farmers did, well, count me in. When my mom told me that's not exactly how it worked, I was very disillusioned. So I've felt depressed, deprived and cheated ever since. Is there some provision in that program that would allow me to collect?

I have only been black since I learned about the reparations program, but, I have owned many Negroes during the stipulated period of entitlement and I also mowed the lawn. Am I righteous enough to redeem a reparation?

You want to think that this is a waste of money. Think about all of the black people now that are discriminated against what this money could mean, it really could help stimulate our economy. I'm tired of robbing peter to pay paul. Once I get this money and get our pig farm going my husband and I are going to pay off all of our debts.
And FYI to all the ignorant fools that think the government is wasting money by finally helping some of the people that built this country, do you think the billions spent in war efforts was worth it? Where did that money come from? What about all of the money paid to lobbyist and government officials that take your well earned tax dollars. The first part of my comment was deleted by the administrator but my Grandfather was swindled out of land that is now worth millions because he could not read. We would have been set for life but as usual it was taken away and there is nothing he could do at that time.
