Adam Carolla Gets Righteously Indignant!
by Liberty Chick
On his Wednesday show, Adam Carolla interviewed Andrew Breitbart to discuss Andrew’s new book, Righteous Indignation. Let me assure you, you’ll LOVE this duo. Andrew’s been a guest on Carolla’s show before, but this was hands down the most entertaining so far.
Check out some of the comments from Carolla’s regular listeners – not surprisingly, some aren’t exactly Breitbart fans (which makes it that much more enjoyable for me, at least).
Carolla tackled topics with Andrew on just about everything – from Righteous Indignation to Communism, the Left’s Racist meme, the racket of building permits and greenwashing, and unions, just to name a few. And a whole lotta LA, which, as Andrew illustrates for us, ain’t what is used to be. The two were on such a rant roll over our waning freedoms, Carolla, who has described himself as having libertarian leanings, almost sounded like another grassroots activist. Who knows? Sounds like he may just have a bit of Presidential appeal. Andrew certainly thought so!
“By the way, are you aware that the Republican Party has nobody running for the presidency right now, and if you had put that out there by mistake and people heard that, and that was your spiel, you would have gone up to Donald Trump level, you would have gone up to 17%?”
Oh yeah – Carolla’s also not a big fan of Maxine Waters. Not. At. All. Which reminds me, this audio is NSFW.
If you’re familiar with the political concept of The Overton Window (no, not the Glenn Beck thriller), you’ll also enjoy the duo’s discussion about how smokers have unwittingly allowed themselves over time to be regulated almost out of existence. Carolla makes creative use of both the war on smokers and the NRA to make that analogy, in a rather unforgettable way. Listen as he sets up what has happened over the years and how we’ve gotten where we are today.
It’s funny that you used the smoking thing. I think about that all the time and I always use it as an example of the difference between the guys who wanted to smoke and the NRA… I secretly suspect this is what the NRA does, not a fan, but this is what they do, this is part of their strategy…see…
So, somebody came into the restaurant and said ‘Hey smokers, you know what, we’re gonna need to move you on over here and just create a little smoking section on this side of the restaurant, so would you just pick it up and move it over here please?’ And everyone went ‘oh yeah, OK,’ and they went and sat in the smoking section. And then at a certain point, somebody came up and said ‘Hey, uh, smokers listen, uh, gonna need you to clear out of the dining area but if you wanna smoke at the bar that’d be fine‘, and they just sort of got up and went ‘yeak, OK, alright’ and then went and sat at the bar. And then the same guy came back again and said, ‘bad news, gonna need to move you out front, outside, can’t have any smoking in the bar or the restaurant, just go out front’ so they went ‘yeah, OK,’ so they stood out on the sidewalk in front of the valet and smoked a cigarette. And then the guy came out and said ‘gonna need you to move down the street 80 paces to smoke a cigarette’ and you see, they just kept getting up and moving.
What the NRA does is they say, ‘f*** you, we’re not moving, let’s argue about it,’ and they’re staying where they are. Meaning, they said, ‘hey man, we need those hollow tip bullets’ and went ‘I don’t think so,’ and now they just argue about it. Now, I don’t think they’re really arguing about that. They just don’t wanna keep sliding out down the sidewalk with the smokers.
And this is the way we are, especially in CA. Which is, we go, ‘hey do this,’ and then someone goes ‘alright.’ Or, we’ll go ‘hey put a tax on cigarettes for a dollar,’ and then next time they go ‘hey make it another buck’ and then they go, ‘eh make it 5 bucks!’ And then Rob Reiner goes, ‘it should be 10 bucks!’ And then all the people that don’t smoke and are full of f***ing righteous indignation, they go ‘oh yeah!’ And then someone says ‘give it to the kids’ and then, next thing you know, we’re where we’re at.
All in all, Carolla seemed quite inspired by Andrew’s plight (and that of Righteous Indignation). Political correctness has run amok, regulations are overbearing, and our freedoms are dissipating before our eyes. How much longer are people going to just sit back and take it all? While there are so many memorable…and colorful quotes in this interview, perhaps this one from Carolla bluntly states the sentiment best:
“What we all need to do in life is just start standing up and telling people to f*** off.”
I suspect many of the Bigs readers might agree. Hell, I certainly do.

Hmmmm, As a Conservative NYer (of Italian Decent, with Grandpa, dad, and a dozen or so Cousins who served in the Military) surrounded by progressive/socialists, I am constantly telling people to f*** off. ;0)
I believe by now, if you are NOT full of 'Righteous Indignation'…you haven't been paying attention to the world around you….just sayin'….keep up the great work, Andrew…you have done a tremendous job!!!
Chick, good article.
"What the NRA does is they say, ‘f*** you, we’re not moving, let’s argue about it,’ and they’re staying where they are. I like this little paragraph.
I used to go to L.A. on occasion, on business.
I remember the last time I was there. It was the week they outlawed smoking in inside. I'm thinking this was about in 1994 or 1995. I haven't been back.
Personally, I am not sliding anywhere, anymore.
It is a bad habit to get into.
Even Rosa Parks stood up an said "I'm not going to slide on down the aisle and sit in the back, I think I'll sit right here in the front."
I sense America will fight to the death to rid itself of the cold fist of OBAMAcare and all the communist tripe left over and trying to root down from the now dying Democrat Subversion of Freedom. To the Death, to be FREE once again.
The reason our Constitution is so powerful is because the Founding Fathers recognized human nature for what it was — including that "yeah, okay" crowd that Corolla mentions. That group was among the Founders greatest concerns. "There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."– James Madison
I'm sure glad to hear Corolla has woken up. Now if he can bring some listeners to the light, we might actually restore a Free Republic.
Here is a reality the Left has not come to grips with,YET: You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all the people all the time!
But they did fool a majority. Thats how they became the elected.
Adam Carolla is funny as fu*k…!
Seems to me that's a pretty apt description as to how progressive/marxism came to be.
This mess we have in Wash. has happened over decades of behind the scenes treachery and deceit by both parties.
Obviously the government now feels empowered to repress us, as until now we obeyed.
We thought that the dems. didn't get the message in Nov. We thought they ignored the message. We were wrong they got the message. It turns out it is the Republicans who didn't get the message.
Congratulations Corolla, you just earned allot of respect from allot of Americans but you also pissed off the lefty Hollyweird nutjobs to the point that they'll likely start pushing advertising boycotts and protests against you.
Having a microphone in Hollyweird isn't anything unique but once you stray from approved dogma and run away from the reservation into the real world you become public enemy number one.
Welcome to the war!
Great interview Andrew…IMO, the term "Marxist economics" hammered it home.
Amen! Past time to tell the insipid twits on the left to go screw themselves. “Hey! …leftist weenies, go screw yourselves!” I’m better now. Keep up the good work Andrew, real America agrees.
To keep the cliché running, “it’s always darkest before the dawn.”
Great article Liberty Chick. In the spirit a little rhetorical question, how come all liberal ideas harm those they "design" to help the most?
Reverse engineering.
They have never had an original cohesive thought.
All they can do plagiarize.
Boy I hope so.
Very entertaining, I could listen to these guys all day. I remember the scene well in Moscow with Maria Conchita taking a bath. Yeah baby.
Living in LA now is very depressing. It's great to know that because crime has decreased to a rate of 7.85 (per 100,000 pop) from 21.5, all the LAPD has left to do is give tickets to jay walking students.
One of the supreme ironies about living in L.A. is that the same liberals who outlaw smoking cigarettes are the ones who want pot to be legal.
In his descriptions of LA, Carolla failed to connect the dots. LA has been turned into Mexico. This is what happens when instead of fitting into a culture because that is the culture that you want, you bring their culture here instead.
I have listened to Adam for about a year now. Incredibly funny. Really enjoy his podcast. It's typically non-political and full of everyday common sense rants with interesting guests. Great show! I would encourage everyone to check ACE out! Just google Adam Carolla.
