SEIU: Save Our State or Shut it Down?

To protest Illinois state budget cuts, thousands (which in lefty stats must mean 10, as in ten people) took to the steps of Illinois’ state capitol building, demanding the Governor shut down the state house. They chanted, “Shut it Down Now. Shut it Down Now”.
Then, at the same protest, they marched and chanted outside, “Save Our State. Save Our Schools.”
I don’t know which it is they’d like the Governor to do – shut down the state, or save it?
Meanwhile, all across my own state of New Jersey today, the KIDS in many of the schools organized a mass walkout to protest budget cuts in NJ.
Keep in mind, the voters of NJ – what was traditionally a blue state – overwhelmingly voted in favor of budget cuts last November when the state went red, kicked big-government Corzine to the curb, and elected a Republican for Governor. And last week, our state had record turnouts for local school budget elections, and again, voters overwhelmingly voted in favor of cuts. That was the largest school budget vote-down since the New Jersey School Boards Association started keeping track in 1976.
So, what were the NJ kids chanting in today’s walkout?
“Save Our Schools. Save Our Schools. Save Our Schools.”
Hmmm. Wonder where they got that? Mixed messaging AND indoctrination. Now there’s a fabulous combo.

Technically, you could save the state by shutting down the state government.

Per NJN’s airing of the NJ student protest, I was led to believe these kids were protesting the removal of the free lunch program.
How is it that they can not understand the cause of the problem. Is it that they are really this ignorant or are they this malicious?

Obviously SEIU protesters are brain washed by the Union to beleive that they control the economy. Nothing short of a Reagan-Like mass firing will realign the power with the majority…
Looks like they are not going to take any responsibility for ruining our schools in the first place……it is always someone elses fault with this group of union drones. We really could do without them since they are doing such a lousy job in educating our children.

This just proves that when you get a whole bunch of idiots in a group, they will say anything as long as there is some jack-ass with a megaphone telling them to chant it!

There was a town meeting in South florida that had about 25-30% that wanted Obamacare. At 8:00 sharp, most of the people that wanted Obamacare left. Why did this happen? One of the people said the union only paid them until 8:00. They don't want to work any more than the bare minimum even when they are the beneficiary.
Bet if you compared the amount of money (bribes) donated to democrats campaigns it would equal the amount missing from pension funds.

Any kid that walked out (during a regular school day, or during regularly scheduled educational time) should be in detention for cutting school.

I think they should take some of that passion to insure that money is put into their own pensions, less they not have a job, state services, or a pension.

I happened to be flipping channels yesterday & caught a couple of minutes of Michael "Porky Pig" Moore on Larry King yesterday. Apparently, Unions will be protesting tomorrow on Wall Street – there calling it "Union Showdown". Moore was claiming that "Tea Party" movement is small and not having any affect on the country. Even King seemed surprised at Moore's statement. Of course, I wasn't surprised seeing that we know that Moore only watches Commie Networks.

These are the people responsible for our bloated government and high taxes and unsustainable debts. They need to make a "shared sacrifice" and take a pay cut or cut 15% of their fellow workers to help out. No boat or going to Vegas for them I hope!
Why are they being so "greedy"? Why don't they want to "share the wealth"? Why don't they take 50% cut in their health benefits to give to some one who has none? Why can't they ride a bike?

you're right. This was the first thing I noticed. If they really wanted to do something worthwhile they should have gont to the local all-you-can-eats and do that same chant there. Shut it down now! To think that I'm paying for their health care….
Speaking of free lunch, looks like those in the SEIU "shut it down now" protest have had way too many free school lunches! Doesn't appear the hefty SEIU members are lacking for food!

I actually have empathy for the folks here. They have been victims of a liberal/Democratic ideology that has enslaved them for decades. Union bosses have squandered their pensions, they have been paid government stipends to make certain their is only one head of the household to the detriment of their children, they have been forced into public housing where crime is rampant and there is no way out, a deliberate act to oppress them. They have been the victim of a federal education system that is designed to fail them. Planned parenthood abortion warehouses are only in the poorest of cities for a specific reason, funded by the Federal Government. For decades they have been oppressed, generations of handouts, all for a stinkin' vote in the elections. It's shameful.
The govenor should fire all the teachers in the SEIU, make a government backed union, and only hire workers who belong to a union that contractually requires responsibility.
SEIU has proved to be the obstacle to good government. As such, it should be removed from the equation.
Gerrymandering in the nineties gave the liberals our cities, and left those cities to the cash machine of liberal dems. The Liberals have organized the cities with groups such as ACORN and many other organized government solution efforts to get the vote, in order to elect more government solution liberal politicians. The liberals have run the cities into the ground while creating the slums we have today. White guilt and too much apathy from the silent majority (Tea Party) also played a role.

Some education the kids can't think for themselves and the only one they hurt was themselves. Dropping out ot school makes for a low income household. Chill out kids your school isn't going anywhere, you are though. Off to riot against a school that allows them a free education. Good luck Gov. of NJ.

Having government workers unionize is a criminal violation of their oaths. How can they look out for the interests of the public when they are only interested in their own interests?
By All means, please shut it down. most folks will never miss it and come to realize how little gets done for the amount of money spent. NJ shut down for a week and it did not effect a single thing. Most government work is about passing paper between agencies, having commitee meetings and making sure everything is "fair".
I totally agree with the unions, raise the union taxes. If the unions really want more tax on thier own paychecks. Do it. I am glad the unions are stepping up and demanding less money for themselves. The taxes will help other programs get increases.
