Center for Responsible Lending and SEIU, a Perfect Union
by Liberty ChickAs you know, we’ve been writing for some time about The Center for Community Self-Help and its financing affiliates Self-Help Credit Union, Self-Help Federal Credit Union, and Self-Help Ventures Fund. As of late, the organization has been under increased scrutiny for its questionable lobbying activities, its former leader and soon to be CFPA Czar Eric Stein, and its $15 million donation from disgraced hedge fund billionaire John Paulson.
According to the Self Help website, the organizations “provide financing, technical support, consumer financial services, and advocacy for those left out of the economic mainstream.” Within that complex web of entities under the Self-Help umbrella exists about forty or so real estate development projects. I thought it might be a productive exercise to start looking into some of Self-Help’s individual properties.
So, I started with Barr Building, LLC, a Self-Help investment registered under its affiliate Self Help Ventures Fund. The property is located at 910 17th Street NW, Washington, DC.
And wouldn’t you know, it happens to be home to one of our most frequent subjects:
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
This seemed especially curious, because it was only recently I’d discovered that SEIU, together with the AARP, is also the proud funder and agitator for one of the Center for Responsible Lending’s other advocacy projects – its state-specific lobbying websites targeted at regulating short-term loans in an effort to insulate its own predatory practices from any private industry competition. For example, take a look at this site, from Arizonans for Responsible Lending. It’s chock filled with all of the usual SEIU corporate campaign elements: the menacing title and domain name, the array of photos depicting abused consumers who simply could not have known any better, the manufactured headlines, and of course – the staple of their strategy – the studies and the research (all funded and conducted by their own organization allies).
And of course, the site is immersed in SEIU and ACORN through its flagship partners, such as “Americans for Financial Reform“, which is run by Heather Booth and Lisa Donner – longtime radicals of ACORN, SEIU, Center for Working Families and other leftist organizations.
How convenient. And there’s one of these sites for most of their ballot measure lobbying states. Even more convenient.
I suppose I’ll spend some time looking into the entire list of properties. Who knows what one will find? Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire. Especially when SEIU enters the picture in the middle of someone else’s scandal.

Hundreds of organizations making a ton of money off of bilking people into thinking they're looking out for the little guy, and every time you dig a little it turns out they lead back to the same thugs.
All this corruption and interconnectedness is enough to make a person a conspiracy theorist!!
What I want to know is if these dirtbags think they can infiltrate and disrupt the TEA Party movement why can't or won't we do the same to them. We need to get some of our ordinary people in these organizations, if not only to inform on them, but also to take them down from the inside. Do unto others before they do unto you.

This crap will not stop until the head rat is out of office. First we have to rid the country of the ones beneath him, they are all just like a bunch of wild animals and should be treated as such.
Good Article LC, and not to take anything away from your investigative reasearch effort, but this admin and its enablers are engaged in such a HUGE volume of barely legal, possibly illegal and always unethical activities that FINDING DIRT ON THEM IS LIKE LOOKING FOR GARBAGE IN A LANDFILL.

Please do so, it is tough love for the tea party people but they need to wake up and see those tactics they have been living and breathing by do not work, I always say 3/21/10 proved me correct on this theory.

It does get hard not to see shadiness in most things they do now. But it's hard to ignore SO MUCH evidence when it's in nearly everything they do.
It's hard not to start off wondering what the ulterior motive is for everything that comes out of their mouths.

Look at who is being appointed to Obama's new "Consumer Protection Agency" thing – this is not about the "same issues", it's about who is controlling financial markets and the US economy! WAKE UP.
As the creepy unions get embedded into our health care system, and financial systems, there is going to be a rationing of the services based on party affiliation and union membership — that's how they will be part of the coercion of civil society.
Want a kidney transplant? Sorry, an SEUI union member is ahead of you on the list. Want a Home mortgage at a good rate? Sorry, you're not a SEIU member so you're rate, if you can get one, will be two points higher to subsidize the union member loans.

thanks…but i think The problem is as we have seen so many waking up there are still twice as much still asleep. Time is not on our side, this is one more addition in a corrupt organizations bag of tricks to capture votes.
