Union Boss to Members: Shut the F*%k Up, You Motherf*%kers!
by Liberty ChickUnited Auto Workers (UAW) union rank and file members shout down their own UAW leadership in a heated meeting on January 24th, as their UAW leader loses it at the podium. Sunday’s meeting in California made last summer’s Town Halls look like a family picnic, after a few choice words from their UAW leader spurred the crowd of rank and file members to erupt in screaming and chaos. At one point, another attendee tries to reason with the crowd, pleading “we have women and children in here that are scared.”
WARNING: Strong language, angry-town-hall-mob-like-behavior
Workers from the Fremont, California NUMMI plant, the UAW-represented joint venture between Toyota and General Motors, will lose their jobs after March 31st when the plant is slated to close, due to high labor costs and stricter environmental standards in California. They’re angry with their local UAW leaders for not representing their interests and accuse the UAW of “politicizing” the plant’s closure. Workers say it’s a waste of time and money to demand that Toyota keep the plant open and want UAW leaders to focus instead on negotiating their severance package. But leaders have been practically MIA for the last 6 months.
Last year, many workers at other GM plants were actually willing to make concessions to avoid the massive auto industry bankruptcy and keep their fellow UAW workers employed elsewhere, even if it meant closing their own plants in some cases.
The full report from my friend Peter List over at LaborUnionReport.com sets up the scene:
“At one point, one UAW leader (identified as Javier Contreras) yelled at the crowd, telling them to “…Shut the f*ck up, you motherf*ckers!…
Things got so bad, that UAW leaders had to call the police to restore order.”
Wow. If this is how these union leaders treat their own rank and file members, I shudder to think what hospital board meetings will be like if Health Care somehow passes.
Check out Peter’s full report here.

WoW!
Simply wow.
It is about time that Union workers find out exactly what their union thinks of them.
Yeah, thats about par for the union course.
You took the word right out of my mouth!
That doesn't surprise me. Union members are starting to realize that union leaders do NOT care about them, that it is all politics and they are pawns.
what a bunch of losers. The whole lot of em.
I watched both videos.
Good Lord, for a minute, I thought they were handing out free government cheese at a Hope and Change Rally.
Collective bargining, and collectivly left in the dust.
Union Thugs thats who runs the unions and thats who maobamas best friends are.
My new facorite video
Wow !
This is better than "Operation Repo".
Sorry dudes, actions have consequences: " the plant is slated to close, due to high labor costs and stricter environmental standards in California".
Nice and its that same mentality that visits the White House on a daily basis influencing policy!

I just sent this link to my wifes cousin…he SWEARS that Unions are the best thing since sliced bread….I've told him on many occasions that Unions are running on borrowed time….coincedentally, another cousin works at the SAME PLACE he does and was let go the week of Chritsmas, but what do I know, since I'm a right-winger….I swear its like talking to a brick wall….
*coincidentally, Christmas
Wow !! I wonder if MSM and MSNBC will be showing this. I have always said Unions don't care about the workers except for their monthly dues. If a worker has been unfairly treated, we have a legal system to make that person whole. Unions served thaeir purpose decades ago but now need to be cleaned of the coruption. I saw one report where 700 school teachers in NYC that have sexual charges against them ( but not yet convicted ) can not be fired due to the Union. They meet everyday and play cards for 8 cards. i saw another one of Postal workers that punch in the clock and then go directly to their cars and get drunk and sleep for 8 hours. One guy said he's been doing this for years. It is NOT the workers that cause this but rather the protection from the Unions that create these conditions.
Unions are like oil in the engine of your car. The longer you run the oil, the more sludge that builds up. . . . tell me again why GM and Chrysler were too big to fail? Oh that's right, to pay the pensions and severance packages for these losers. Unions have outlasted their usefulness in our society. Time to abolish them and teach the people to work and make themselves valuable to their employers thus ensuring their employment. You can't keep making your company lose money and expect your job to be around forever.
And who wants to be in a Union after watching these two videos? Not me
My God!! I guess what goes around, really does come back around and bite you on the a$$!!! If these idiots are STILL paying union dues after THIS, they deserve what ever comes next!!!
and gooberment motors is now offering toyota owners $1000 to trade in their toyota's and become gm owners…I think not….
Useful idiots. If the Union leadership only knew what the intelectual elites though of them. That row of union thugs that lined up would make an NFL team proud.
a perfect example of why unions are bad bad bad BAD
When I was a young man, about thirty-five years ago, I worked in industry once, for a brief period of time. Those of you here who know me, know I am anti-union, and a capitalist. I had a similar experience, and a man from the United Steel Workers pulled about the same type of stunt. The only difference was, the situation was a lot worse than the one on the video here. I whipped his ass, and got arrested.
I have never had anything to do with a Union since. I saw the light, at an early age.
Union is great for idiots.
We have to recognize that our "leaders" are nothing more than the activists from the left and right. The rest of us are too busy feeding our families to take leadership positions.
Well, now we're paying the price for it. It is time Americans stood up to these putzes in power!
Everything is relevant. In other Auto News, Ford just posted a profit:
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/internat...
Ford is the only US auto manufacturer that hasn't been in bankruptcy, has been sucking on the government teat, and hasn't been kissing the barrackus behindus.
For that reason alone, I'd consider buying one. I'm kinda pissed I bought my Saturn when I did now that Obamamotors killed the brand. I did buy it before they took it over, but still….
I'm with you. The silent Majority has to do something. When you talk to most people about it, their response is, "the news is depressing, we don't watch it anymore" That is why we are paying the price. If it wasn't for Breitbart and Foxnews, I would have never known what was happening to our Country.
Sorry folks, I can see a lot of you have never been to a union meeting.
Nothing strange or out of the ordinary here.
In certain circles, dialogue and discussion, is sometimes three dimensional.
As far as these guys voting Republican next time around, if I know my buddies, it will take about another year of no work for them to tell the guy up at the podium to "Shut the F…K up".
Well I'm no labor lawyer, but I'm dont think just stopping to pay your dues is the easiest thing in the world. Someones its deducted right from your paycheck, by the employer.
That's why I bought a new Ford Flex…just doing my part for the "evil corporations" that keep us employed.
I worked for GM for 30 years and I am proud to say that I never ever attended a UAW meeting. Their monthly publication has always touted the liberal agenda and finds itself itself in my trash can upon receiving it every month.
For the record, the only way to not pay union dues…is to quit.
The UAW has long outlived it's usefulness. It really stands for "U Ain't Working".
These videos are pure entertainment to me. heh heh.
Ok, the grammar there was awful. Let's try again:
Well I'm no labor lawyer, but I don't think just stopping to pay your dues is the easiest thing in the world. Sometimes its deducted right from your paycheck by the employer.
Union Reps visited my place of business. Two very large dudes from the Carpenters Union. They pretty much left me alone when I told them the Civil Rights Commission would not look kindly on them trying to strong arm a female. I don't mess in their little world and they sure better not mess in mine. I pay more then union wages to begin with for highly qualified people.
When a sheet metal workers union came to the shop where I worked, I was the only one who publicly stood up and said no way. I have always felt that employment is between an employer and an employee, no middle man required. Besides, I'm a grown man, I don't need my mommy to hold my hand at work. I refused to sign the contract and was let go. Much to the dismay of the newly contracted union workers, I was immediately rehired as the operations manager, that's right, their boss. As part of management I was not required to join the union and I got a handsome raise with my new position. Needless to say, people wanted me dead and I was harassed and even assaulted at one point. In the end several people lost their jobs. I continued to get raises and bonuses while the unionized employees were stuck in a contract they were very unhappy with. The company's owner had always been very generous to those who went the extra mile, but now there were no incentives to work hard for the betterment of the company. No more asking for a raise when you had a new baby at home, or when you had gone above and beyond. All they could do was pay their union dues and wait for a tiny raise every 6 months whether they deserved it or not. After a year and a half they finally wised up and kicked the union out.
You go Cowboy!!
Ahhhhh……Union Yes! Priceless!
Where is the outrage over the use of taxpayer money to capitalize the UAW's pension and health plans. We continue to subsidize this union everyday even as GM tanks. The banks at least have paid some money back, with the Auto industry it's gone forever.
What a concept. You give up your freedom, then pay someone to take it and make your decisions for you. How dumb is that? Hang on…….that sounds like government too.
This guy is lucky he is still alive………….
Unions are like a virus…the corporation is the host. The virus needs the host to survive; however, it also depletes the corporations ability to resist other ailments like economic downturns. The virus eventually destroys the host.
You can't apply for job unless you have a union card. At least that was true in Las Vegas Culinary Union.
The only thing they forgot where the tar-n- feathers. People need to start planning better.
Sounds like the Union Chickens have come home to Roost!
Lesson to Union workers everywhere…Unions have consequences.
Comical to see the "muscle" surround the podium in the second video. I've seen these guys at Tea Party rallies. Unions=organized thuggery and the persuasion of power.
Unions were a good idea at one time. When they started, they made sure that the workers had safer working conditions, fair pay and at least some sort of protection from abusive corporate bosses, just look at what they did in Pittsburg & West Virginia. This, however, is no longer the case. Now it is the Union bosses who are the abusers. The unions of late are no more than brutish lobbying groups hell-bent on filling DC with left wing socialists.
I have to go beat my head against a brick wall now.
"….angry-town-hall-mob-like-behavior"??
Correction, Ms. Liberty Chick. That's what the Dems usually call the Tea Party members and the rest of ordinary fed up citizens who try to speak their minds, only to be told to "sit down and shut up". The "mob" designation is also flung at us by the leftwing MSM, which supports Obama's socialist agenda and doesn't like patriotic dissent anymore than Obama does.
Ah, collectivist, Democrat politics at their most productive.
These are Obama supporters, no doubt.
No wonder the country is headed down the crapper.
It looks like it's time for union members to be going after their Union Bosses! They are responsible for this! I hear Andy Stern is a frequent visitor at the WH — at least SEIU members will know where to find him when they are in the same boat.
They know what their leaders think of them and that's money and votes. They can't get a union job unless they join and pay dues. I have seen them processed in and two hours later processed back out; so the bs about not being fired is bs. Union has always been run by mob or mob like.
WoW amazing video footage of thugs being thugs. Sad part is if there were children in the room they were exposed to the foul language and screaming, but the union leaders probably see this as early indoctrination. Time for all unions to go away. They are one of the cancers of our great nation!
Interesting……Take your money. Do nothing to help you. And tells you to STFU! WOW!
I agree. There are plenty of regulations that insure workplace safety and equal opportunity. America no longer needs Unions… especially in the public sector.
Unions are not a bad idea, the problem is when they grow so large they begin to shape public policy. they were necessary a while back, when workers were treated like indentured servants. If union bosses meet regularly with the president, red flags should go up. Maybe its time to take these thugs down a peg or two
Detroit- Just a useful narrative or proof that Unions ruin industry?
Ford just skirted by. Alan Mulally leveraged the company to hilt supposedly even mortgaging the Blue ford symbol. They did all of this before the credit market collapsed. Ford survived without government assistance not because of the UAW but because of the brilliance of Alan Mulally. The fact that they did not have to take government assistance propelled Fords market share i.e. profitability. Again the market share had nothing to do with UAW or non UAW it had to do with decisions which Alan Mulally had made. If you saw the numerous videos of Ford UAW employees drinking at lunch or just not showing up for work when they are getting paid you would ask yourself how have they survived UAW.
I love a happy ending!
Sounds much like Obama
.
And we have these people writing the health care bill. Imagine what they feel towards everybody else?
.
Most of your comments here are exactly right on. I was at this meeting (neither video is mine) and I was purposely standing at the back door incase something broke out and I had to make a quick exit. Tensions are very high in the plant right now, but this is uncalled for on both sides. All this is over a 'retention bonus' that the company is offering. The company has made their 'best and final' offer, and the union wants more. What the company is offering is decent, but not anywhere near what Toyota or GM offered their employees when they shut down plants or offered buyouts (NUMMI is jointly owned by both Toyota and GM and until GM's bankruptcy, built vehicles for both). The company doesn't have to offer us anything and many of us are concerned that if we don't soon accept this offer, they may change their mind and take it away. Several have requested of the union to be able to vote on this, but the union so far has refused. Of course, until the plant closes April 1, 2010, we still pay our union dues of two hours of pay per month. And if we do get any retention bonus, this would be our last pay check from this company, and of course the union would take their cut of this check as well to support their causes, like going to Palm Springs, from which they just returned from a two week trip.
"Why is it all unions are evil, except for police unions, firefighter unions, nurses, and prison guards."
Nobody on the right is making that argument. You are all alone on that one.
Police unions? Nope.
Firefighters unions? Nope.
Nurses unions? Nope.
Prison guards? Nope.
You forgot teachers unions.
Let's pretend that we have decided to let the union bosses run the country. Twenty years from now, what does the United States look like? Detroit.
Detroit is a physical testament to what these greedy thugs produce. We must keep these types from power at all costs. They have already defiled the people's White House. This needs to stop here and NOW!
Just an FYI guys…. My Father is a retired General Motors worker… and has been a U.A.W. Member for 31 years, and I've been to many a meeting with him and I have never, ever seen anything like that at all. That dude was out of line and should be removed from the Union. Just letting you all know.
-Pat
Thank you for your comment.
You need to step up, and get people involved.
You know, like a community organizer. Educate your brothers and sisters in the union, to the fact they have been sold out.
Union members, your leadership has sold you out. The union leadership has engaged in extortion and intimidation at the expense of the very companies that employ union workers thus leading to layoffs. Unions are a relic from decades past.
Union members, joins us Conervatives [Tea Partiers] in taking this country back in Nov. The companies that employ you are not the enemy, they've provided you with a livelihood to take care of your families. The criminal union leadership is the enemy.
Union leaders are typically folks who didn't like getting their hands dirty and thought they had the personality and the smarts to get off the floor and into an office. After that it's pure cronyism and coming up with enough BS and handshakes and smiles to get elected. People who work with their hands and not their mouth have plenty of time to ponder this…believe me. You can see this contempt in the faces of the workers here.
I'm not going to lose any sleep over turmoil amongst these people. Only ignorance of the most intentional type can explain how the rank and file workers are any less culpable for the damage unions have done to this country than their (elected) leaders. Unionism is piracy and that is all. The sailors want their cut and the captains appear to have already split it up. Gee, I am all broken up.
You are so much more than anti-union and a capitalist, you are a patriot. I know that is obvious, but I enjoy your commentary and thought I should tell you. Your simple logic and common sense views remind me of the people of the eastern plains of my state, Colorado. I love the sane and direct way they deal with life. Such a stark contrast to the frazzled urbanites of the Denver metropolitan area.
The liberals are so wrong about these "hicks" as they call them. Many of them have degrees and are engineers as well as ranchers or farmers. They are computer literate and just as informed as anyone who lives in a giant metropolis. These are the kind of people I want to be around when the progressives make the mistake of attempting to seize control of everything.
Why not? It's essentially what Obama and our "representatives" are telling the American people by continuing to push their unpopular agenda. I can't say who is taking their cues from who but one thing is certain, Washington is not taking it's cues from the public any more than the AARP was taking cues from their members. Every one of these groups of leaders seems to know better than those whose numbers give them the influence they so happily wield like a child with a water cannon.
We haven't been privy to the Progressive vs. Democrat behind closed door meetings, do ya think there might be similiarities between the meetings? And I just wonder , HMMMM … would it be the Progressives doing the ordering and threatening HMMMM….
People of the west always tend to think differently. Especially different than city people, or yankees, or left coasters. The country is more open, and people tend to think in a clearer fashion. It is easy to see the forest for the trees, when you live on the plains………..
When will common sense finnaly KILL UNIONS? They've OUTLIVED their effectiveness ( as shown here) and degenerated into just another money machine for leftist wacky Democrats.
Democrats PUSH the enviromental MADNESS that cost these people their jobs – do they blame the UAW for having its collective head up the ass of the Democrat Party?
Their own $$$$$ was used to kill their OWN JOBS>
It's parallel to the Democrat Party pushing abortion, which is KILLING off future Democrats.
Kind of like how the average American citizen is starting to realize that his elected officials don't care about him.
I think you'd have a more meaningful conversation with the brick wall.
I would like to see the unions out of the schools. We don't need any union workers brainwashing our children with Politically Correctness and left wing propaganda.
These Union members would not be losing there job if the unions had not demanded more an more, maybe the workers should demand there Union not be so greedy instead.
If Ford could ORDER the UAW OUT of their plants I believe they'd do it a Detriot second ( about two years – s l o w like Union workers) but they can't.
Have you wondered why Toyota and Honda and BMW and others have opted to build plants outside of MICHIGAN? Hmmmm?
So they don't have to kneel at the altar of the UAW – which is KILLING JOBS nationwide.
[...] tells its member off WARNING: Strong language, angry town hall mob like behavior Union Boss to Members: Shut the F*%k Up, You Motherf*%kers! – Big Government And these are the people the obamanation hanges out with and gets advice from. 10 points and [...]
Unfortunately I was forced to join a union for a job I had. Union members are not rewarded for efficiency, productivity or hard work. They are rewarded for hanging around and toeing the line. Unions breed laziness and feelings of entitlement. Nothing more.
We need to return our great country to a state of MERITOCRACY!
Government is not a bad idea either. But it too becomes counter-productive when it gets too big.
And it is definitely time to make the unions irrelevant.
If your point is that union labor is superior to non……………
well……..
I've got a few Chicago union stories to tell you. My old man could raise the hair on your neck with stories from the Bell Telephone strike, in the late 60's. Good old rip-roarin' 20's gangster stuff.
Union labor is crap.
Unions are crap.
Deal with it.
Reagan had the right idea, and I WAS an Air Traffic Controller.
The problem is that if you want a job that has been unionized you have no choice but to join.
Derek, I don't know of any union that allows you to decide your method of payment. I'm pretty sure they all take directly from your paycheck. Kind of like the IRS.
Being sold out by the leadership is why I haven't belonged to a union in almost 25 years. Now, having said that, these people are workers on the line. They talk to each other like this all the time on the job. With all the stress of losing their futures, I can sympathize with how they just lost it. Dosen't excuse it, but I understand it. I would note the reason why the plant is closing is it's too costly to operate a plant in California. Pay attention America, this is why US businesses have helped manuver us into trade agreements I call articles of treason. We have allowed the progressives to drive our jobs, and futures overseas and pay the companies for the privledge. Thsi has been 100 years in the making and the unions were told by their members who saw the handwriting on the wall and didn't listen. Others who supported all of the giveaways either didn't consider the consequences, were too stupid, or were part of the movement to make things as bad as they are and worse if they get the chance.
As Sister Nancy would say, "ASTROTURF! ASTROTURF! " That was "manufactured anger."
amen to that…these unions protect their own inept teachers too.
Thanks When I saw Nummi I knew if this was california, there was a lot of story missing. Toyota kissed GM goodby.
The UAW was chased out of a Mercedes Benz plant in Alabama a few years back for the same stuff.
The Unionistas then followed workers HOME to intmidate them.
Ya' think?
That's great!
Above I mentioned the workers at a Mercedes plant saying "leave us alone – Mercedes pays us well and we don't NEED your "help" UAW…"
Tom,
What you just described, was EXACTLY how it was where I worked. 100% you know the story. The United Steel Workers was a damn joke. The bill of goods they sold those stupid people? From the time the plant voted to go Union, until the time they shut their doors, was 34 months.
So much for Union prosperity. They placed such ridiculous burdens on the company, that there was no profit margin left. A welder couldn't push a broom, that was for the laborers. A machinist couldn't drive a nail that was for the carpenters, and on, and on, an on.
I remember a caustic little ditty from a way back then:
"Here's to the Union,
divided we will fall,
we'd better give in
before they **** us all!"
It was appropriate then, it is moreso now.
You make an excellent point. Sure these union members are up in arms now. They're losing their jobs and possibly their severance. But they sure didn't seem to mind fleecing the very company that gave them the oppurtunity to make a paycheck.
OMG! The Unions are in TROUBLE! This is incredible.
This is no surprise. People, like their faith in the government, have put their faith in a union leadership that simple does not represent it's members. If these people thought that by joining a union would solve all of their problems, they've missed the whole point of a union!
In unions, like politics, you get the leaders you deserve.
I was under the impression that you had to sign a contract BEFORE you started work for that to happen…if so, I guess you're in a bind..unless of course the union people decide on their own to strike their union..?? Just a thought…
Yes, that was sarcasm – a little "look at the pot calling the kettle black" humor.
The lefties want to make sure the US enters a "Post Industrial" economy. Just like Detroit.
Private unions don't scare me because eventually they kill the company and die out. Public employee unions however have no such inherent limitation. In the case of of public employee unions, the taxpayer is the ownership and there is no limit to how much the taxpayer can be forced to pay to support these organizations. The Unions know that private industry unionization has failed and that the public sector is the last resort for them to keep their power.
You misunderstand. All unions are crap, and I was a steelworker for 10 years. As someone else said, this is typical behavior, in my experience.
And ALL public-employee unions should be abolished, made illegal. There is NO reason for public employees, paid by the taxpayer, to be unionized. Believe it or not, that will happen some day because they will irritate the public so much they will be destroyed.
Unions are Mafia.
You can't say no, and that's exactly how Obama, a Chicago Mafia stooge, wants it.
If union members keep voting for Democrats and appointing leaders who spend all their time in bed with Democrats, instead of doing what they are elected to do, union members should expect to be threatened and intimidated like this.
That's how the Mafia works.
Democrats to Americans: Shut the F*%k Up, You Motherf*%kers!
I thought this headline was a joke. It wasn't! s
This is a perfect example of what the elitists in this country think of the American People! They want us all to just shut up, roll over, and play dead!
Yes, ditto to Cowboy Logic's comment!
I've actually been following your guys' story for a while and read the letters you wrote to Gettelfinger, etc. You guys have been bravely standing up against your own machine – even some of you publicly going on record saying that your own UAW leadership contributed to Toyota's decision to shut the NUMMI plant down.
You guys need to keep stepping up and speaking out. Others on the outside will back you up. Get people involved and get your stories out there. Most people (especially us FORMER union members) know it's the leadership and not necessarily the union members themselves that are the problem.
Good luck!
If you want to see Obama's vision for America, just take a good look at these videos. This is what he wants.
That was a near riot! If I had been there, I'd have been running for the exits.
I couldn't help but wonder if this is where our country is headed! Riotous chaos!
I love when a bunch of office-working, degreed professionals mock the working masses for trying to get their share. If not for unions, for many like me, whose blue-collar parents put them through school, were able to because of their union jobs. But then again, class mobility is something conservatives love to see restrained.
As an ex-UAW committeeman, now reitred, these people are 100% correct. The Union officials need to negotiate these employees severance packages now because the longer it is put off the less they will get. This time wasted gives Toyota time to leave everyone hanging in litigation without any money coming in. When a plant is "tagged" for closure like NUMMI has been, it is going to be closed……..period. Unless the state steps in with huge "incentives" to keep it open (the state has no money either)……it is a goner. These people are correct!
One month ago I bought an item from a guy who works for GM in Flint that was posted on Craigslist. I asked when it would be convenient to pick it up- he stated that it didn't matter- he works third shift in skilled trades so he could catch a nap at work anytime he wanted to. I was shocked that this still goes on and more shocked that he just came right out and told me this. Our bailout $ at work.
Was that Rahm Emanuel at the podium… No, no just sounds like Rahm at meetings with Democrat Representatives.
I'm so confused. For the past two years we've been told that conservatives are knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing rednecks and that democrats are the educated, enlightened ones who know what's best for us.
The attitude then, as it still is now is, "now that I have the job and I'm in the union—you expect me to work?"
I also worked for a time in another factory. No union. As in the first place there was a rate and any employee that exceeded that got a bonus! It was a dirty and hard job, a drop forging factory, but I never saw a happier group of people.
The company recently changed hands and those jobs went to China, but it was around for a long, long, time.
Praise the good Lord for union thugs. One of the pillars of our democracy.

There are FREEDOM TO WORK states, where nobody has to join a union. That shopuld be the case in every state!
Here's a theory for why Ford skipped on taking Government money but GM and Chrysler did not: There are living persons attached to the Ford family name.
One could wonder… so what?
My personal belief is that the unholy conception of a corporation, the essence of a corporation, is to separate ownership from responsibility. This is effectively the case of GM and Chrysler. Who has anything to loose there? No one that we know by name!
But the Ford family, well, that's their name they have to take care of!
(And that is how it should be!)
Hey UAW, do you understand now the union leaders don't give a shit about the workers? They are in Obama's back pocket. I wouldn't be surprised if they are getting a payoff from the Obama admin to sell you out. Vote all unions out now!
How many recalls have there been among the unionized companies compared to one at Toyota.
Was it Unions who designed the Ford Edsel?
The commenter is not making that argument. That was sarcasm.
Who would rely on these morons to protect your job?
The same language Obama wanted to use at the SOTU speech last night! It runs in the family.
True. And even then, they might just still blame the "EVIL" business owner for all their woes. Even if that business is no longer in business because of the Union.
If you get the chance, go to pjtv.com and watch the video on Detriot by Steven Crowder. It tells a sober story. Looks like a war zone. (you have to register to watch the video, but it is free). I live in Michigan, 2 out of 10 are out of work. It's depressing to see families losing their homes. Then, if you talk to a retired GM worker, they complain that they just might have to start paying a portion of their health insurance premiums and are really mad about it. They are currently making 85% of their wage while in retirement. Can anyone say PONZI scheme. Work at GM, retire at age 57 and receive 85% of your pay for the rest of your life. Who didn't see the collapse coming? These people still show up at Union Meetings and demand their fair share. Guess what, it's gone, your fair share of nothing is exactly that….Nothing.
Um, here are just a few, put the pages are endless.
2009 Pontiac Vibe, 2009 Dodge Avenger, 2009 Dodge Caliber, 2009 Dodge Challenger, 2009 Dodge Journey, 2010 Covette, 2010 Challenger, 2010 Charger, 2009 GMC Acadia, 2009 GMC Canyon, 2009 GMC Savana, 2009 GMC Yukon, 2009 Chrysler Sebring, 2009 Chrysler 300, 2010 Chrysler 300. etc, etc, etc, etc….
I'll do it. I spent many years in the retail car biz, selling Fords, and I know how misguided unions like UAW have become. I drive a Ford and I am VERY PROUD of Ford and the tough measures they took a few years back to avert disaster and thus avert a bailout.
Every GM car that is sold (and that's not nearly enough of 'em) is saddled with HUGE costs, i.e. dead money right off the bat. That "dead money" is retirement and benefits – exactly as you have stated.
It is happening all over the place, town hall meetings, union meetings, addressess to joint sessions of Congress, average people are fed up with the BS being spewed by those in charge. Increasingly, they are not taking it anymore and things are going to get much worse. Union bosses, AARP reps, Senators and Congressmen, even the President are all being called out on the lies in contentious meetings. Could the torches and pitchforks be far behind?
Bill Ford was smart enough to step away after a somewhat unsuccessful stint as C.E.O. and bring in Mulally.
I sold Fords and helped manage a Ford store for years. I drive a fairly new Ford and I'm very proud of Ford.
The UAW is KILLING the American car industry, just killing it…
Sure. That makes sense…sigh…
Believable.
Gee, that sounded like Obama as he speaks to the American people! Real class, both of them.
The Union leaders are ripping off their membership on a regular basis these days. It doesn't get as much attention as it should…. but it has turned into a huge racket. Another thing that seems to happen more often these days is unions fighting with each other. The SEIU in particular is notorious for making enemies with competing unions.
No, it isn't true. It may be in certain locals back east but out here in the west union reps and bosses only talk that kind of smack behind their members backs. I've been on every end of this deal, I've been a member, a shop steward, a rep, and I've managed elections. They're all dirty as hell, but the one's I really hold it against are the public sector unions, we must break them.
You have it backwards, police unions, firefighter unions, nurses, and prison guards are the worst kind, the rest I could offer a lot more slack to, after all it's their union and livelihood, their business, not our public treasury being gutted and our services held hostage.
it's all unraveling now… i just wonder how long it takes before we get worker striking against those that are supposed to be supporting them?
BINGO! You have it spot on. The real damage is done when the public sector organizes, loose the private sector unions all you want and watch them devour business, bust the spine of public sector unions and stomp what's left under foot. They're killing us.
Union members, pay close attention. Your not stupid, and these people who operate your unions are not any better or smarter than you are. They laugh at you, they mock you with their friends who run the companies you work for. They chuckle all the way to the bank while you languish, all the while believing they're looking out for your interests. Don't be fooled, they are selling you out and have been for many many years. It's a running joke amongst your union bosses and captains of industry. You are a joke to them, your the low hanging fruit that they enjoy. Your being fleeced like a heard of sheep. Stop believing for one second that they give a damn about you, they don't. They despise you for being so stupid and hate you for the fact they need you to sustain themselves. They are malevolently parasitic, what is yours is how they sustain themselves.
hey! What good is rabble with out the rousers!?
The key to all Union Power is ugly, brutal and simple: Mutually assured (self)destruction.
Disrespect this fact at your own peril. This goes for CEOs and Union bosses alike.
Did the CEOs of the autos screw themselves (with the Unions help)?
Or vice versa? Not sure if the difference there matters.
You better believe I am outraged. Many many of us are.
I'm familiar with that vid. "REAGAN'S FAULT"
Having seen SEIU up close and personal, yes, I agree. This video reminds me of the day we threw our local president out of a meeting where we were voting on whether to end a strike after we had just found out he absconded with our strike fund! It was not pretty!
I can't speak for the other professions, but I was part of a police guild (union) at one time and there is a big difference between our union and that of the UAW, SEIU and others. We were prohibited by law from striking because we performed a necessary public function, police on strike means rampant crime and therefore we did not and could not hold our city employers over a barrel asking for ridiculous wages and benefit packages by threat of strike. Like adults our reps negotiated fairly with our city and when asking for pay increases we backed up our requests with facts where we simply asked for pay and compensation that was in the ball park of cities near ours that had police forces, populations and city sizes similar to our own. In other words we only asked to be paid similarly to other police forces near ours of similar size rather than demanding outrageous unsustainable wages these other scum unions DEMAND and we never held our employers hostage or destroyed them financially through the use of strikes like these other greedy Marxist unions do. That is the difference, unions suck and I do my part not to buy products produced by union labor!
Richard….Toyota has NOT recalled "all the cars they have made in the last several years", so get your facts straight. Secondly, in the middle of this new Toyota recall, ALL plants in Indiana (which make the Tacoma, Tundra, Highlander) are NON-UNION and have said they are finding other work for their workers AT THEIR OWN plants….NO ONE will be losing their jobs! That, my friend, is how a company takes care of their employees.
Don't forget about us on the west side of the Rockies . Life in the mountains is so more enjoyable, must be that thin fresh air. It thickens the blood!!!! By the way I do like reading the cowboy logic also!!
Remember when you could buy a house for the same price you buy a car or a truck for now!! Thanks unions!!
They tore down the Hazelwood plant? I was on of the last contractors in their moving the last few pieces of equipment out. That is what we did for a little over a year, mainly with GM, empty out the plants. And it was Ironic, Obama signs everywhere. I had to laugh at the poor shleps that were left, they probably still do not have a clue.
I thought the Union negotiated home delivery.
UNIONS ARE "THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND" !…….I WAS FORCED TO JOIN A UNION, ONCE, OR FACE TERMINATION. DIDN'T TAKE LONG FOR ME TO REALIZE THAT I COULD NEVER MAKE ONE PENNY MORE AN HOUR THEN THE LAZYEST GUY IN THE COMPANY. UNIONS PROMOTE MEDIOCRITY AND THE
US VS. THEM" MENTALITY. UNION MEMBERS DESERVE WHAT THEY PAY THEIR DUES FOR.
Don't you wonder what beach the thugs were on for the last 6 months that the members haven't seen them? And on WHOSE money?
Don't count west as the left coast! I'm east of the Cascades and we are a whole different breed than those in the metro areas. Those people just voted in two tax raises!! We didn't. I don't mind taxes if they are used as they should be. I expect the politicians to get a raise and the State Police to be downsized!! And thank you Cowboy. I appreciate your logic too.
No, he'll let them go on picket at Toyota and GM dealerships @ $5.00/hr, and then keep 50% for the union dues they fall behind on.
Ahhhhhhh……America's best and brightest.
That's funny. For a minute I thought they had just run out of the govt cheese.
That was the smile I needed today. Thanks for that.
Had the same type of job during one summer while I was in college. We would work for a few hours and then out would come the playing cards and the beer. For the first week or so I was paranoid and afraid of getting caught and losing my summer job and my school money. The oldtimers just laughed. They told me not to worry about it and then sent me out to get more beer.
That was a county job so I imagine that after all of this time it is still going on.
And yet they are still proud members of the UAW (while, union free Toyota is recalled all the cars they've made in the last several years.) Why is it all unions are evil, except for police unions, firefighter unions, nurses, and prison guards.
It's a useful political narrative for the Right and nothing more.
Paying the dues is not by choice, just like the taxes it's taken out before you even get your paycheck.
Everyday on my way to work I pass a Ford factory that has been closed down and recently torn down. But just a couple of blocks up the street, the UAW Union building is still there doing business with their credit-union operation. Yeah buddy, the UAW really "took care" of those jobs.
It was a big factory in Hazelwood, Missouri, thousands worked there. Those jobs are all gone but somehow the Union made sure they still have jobs.
I had a local chapter pres. show me his gun at a meeting 1 time, lol. told me "how people get hurt" when i dissagreed with the contract proposal.
we wild catted without national approval first. lol
got a much better deal and also set presedence for workers in new england, no more $0.03 per hour per year raises.
all 13 of us
Tell your cousin I said "haaaa haaaa" using that kid's voice from the Simpsons!!!!!!! Love those videos!!!
I am an equal opportunity offender and am willing to say I think they all suck!!!
If you disagree, you are probably a racist and a union loving thug…
Good luck getting through on that EDD phone line in April!!!
If by "fleecing" you mean "extorting"…
Surprised this hasn't made the MSM news…of course it is a bit explicit…how Unions treat their paying members abt to lose jobs in March.
No worse, probably, than what has been heard coming from the meetings in this White House. And we pay them–
The unions just like the Democrat party will self destruct from the inside out. They will learn that this is still America and not Venezuela. We are Americans first, everything else is second.
I also worked in a steel and tube factory about 40 years ago. I had to join the machinists union, part of the AFL-CIO. Union members would file complaints over the smallest of issues and hold up production and keep down productivity.
Every day, each employee had a certain amount of work they had to do. During the day shift, employees worked slowly, so that by 4 p.m. they would have finished their shift and made their rate. As long as they hadn't made their rate, they couldn't be assigned to another task. The night shift (4-12), however, was a different story. Employees worked fast from 4 to about 8 pm. By then, management had gone home. By 8, they had completed the same amount of work the day shift did in half the time. Then they would find a quiet place and go to sleep for the remaining 4 hours of their shift. On the 12-8 shift, that was reversed. Sleep until 4 a.m. and then get up and start working so that when the mangement earlybirds showed up, everybody was busy. Needless to say, the company eventually went bankrupt and everybody lost their jobs and their pensions.
My dad worked for this company for 35 years. When he died, my mother got his pension (the one the government, not the defunct company pays)—a big $91 a month.
Talk about killing the golden goose.
He was well protected. Watch the video again and notice all of those "bouncers" jump in front of the podium.
I will never buy UAW again. I want a Toyota. I'm a dealers son and I had a chance to go to GM's school. Glad I didn't. No uaw for me.
At age twenty (1970) I was married with one child – working any and every job I could find. When offered a job with a major industry in my local area, I jumped at the chance. The hiring/orientation process included a closed door meeting with the local O.C.A.W. union stewards. Their message was clear – join or we will find a way to get rid of you.
After five years and two strikes, I found myself listening to union bosses explain again the "benefits" of another strike to "bring the company to their knees". I had done the math from the previous two strikes (gains minus lost income). When I pointed out the "fact" that we were still at a "net loss" from the previous two strikes – I was forced from the union hall by three thugs and told not to come back.
I resigned the next day, talked my way through some corporate doors, the rest is history. I now spend my days playing with my grandson. It was capitalism that set me free from a life of union servitude. The only thing I regret is that I didn't slug the S.O.B. like you did.

lol, bingo cowboy bingo.
Pontiac Vibe is actually a Toyota Matrix.
Well, these union f**ks ought to be used to people who don't represent their interests. After all, they run to the Democrap trough all the time and pull that lever just like the trained lemmings they are.
So the Union Bosses don't listen. What else is new? (Funny how that word, "Bosses," is so reminiscent of the slavers of another era, isn't it? And silly me, they were Democraps, too!)
the plant is being moved because of ca. money earning EPA laws. hence the labor bosses do not care, why…pay off from the company plus the new state will cut the plants tax base….win- win for the big boys…screw you middle class ass wipes you are EXPENDABLE…… just like the rest of us ass wipe EXPENDABLE middle class tax paying go fight your wars mr. government man. KNOW YOUR PLACE YOU DUMB ASS AMERICAS…you can be replaced by one of pudlosi's army of illegals.
My first experience with a union happened many years ago. I repaired communication equipment for a company. I was new and worked the night shift, alone. I repaired too many radios, because I was always taught, if you work for a man, then work for him. The next night the union rep was waiting at the door. After that, I had lots of time to drink coffee. This is no surprise.
There's a few common factors in this picture (1)high cost of doing business in California, (2)laws and regulations in California that make it very expensive and difficult to do business in this state, (3) UAW
It is also why the unions stand no chance short of law-enforced mandatory enrollment (aka "card check") that these plants will ever become one of their profit centers.
Remember when a long-distance phone call from Los Angeles to St Louis was $5.50 for three minutes? Remember when a decent B/W TV set was $350.00 in the year you bought a VW Beetle for $1300?
Besides, what were you being paid when a house in a safe neighborhood sold for $30,000?
-Ding!- Hand that man a prize!
I worked for an industrial supplier in the Bay Area for a while. One of the old hands told me how they used to ship CASES of Eddy heat-guns to the San Jose Ford plant every month. The workers were intentionally smashing them up as some sort of protest. (That brought to mind a variation for 2001 Space Idiocy: the ape smashing a heat gun, and not a bone, but I digress). It seems the car companies were being struck more or less constantly back then.
I don't blame the car companies at all. I presently drive a GM car made by UAW folks, and given family circumstances (mom will stop driving fairly soon) my next one is likely to be a GM as well. I love these cars. But with complete discretion, my next one would be a non-union vehicle. Until GM is back in private hands, I refuse to buy a new one. Chrysler has nothing, and family experience with Ford service departments puts them at the back of the line even though the cars are amazingly good.
I love living in a Right to Work state…
Yep, its all gone now, even the parking lot is gone and the short road leading back to the factory. To look at it today you would never know that a huge factory was once there.
The mentality of a two year old, with the power of the presidency behind them, which is equally as infantile!
Larry,
Folks like you and I tend to see the light.
Others, bless their hearts, are content to be followers.
I really hope Obama and the idiot Biden get a chance to see what they are doing to the American people. 2012 can't come soon enough. Union members are nothing more than a meal ticket to their leaders and the elite of our government.

I agree with a post below: "Unions are Mafia." The Democrats have always been affiliated with "the mob" ever since the 2nd group of pilgrims landed in America with the "Irish mob" and nobody anywhere has done "the mob" better than Chicago! Ever! Also, "mob" equals being progressive!
Cowboy, another great post. By the way, my wife is Italian, born in Greenwich, Ct. not far from the city and I will not make any more "mob" comments, but she, as I, a Connecticut yankee myself, are both in line with your philosophy! Miracles do happen you know! In fact, we now live in rural Florida, about an hour east of Fort Myers! West coast is middle America, east coast is New York!
Victor,
Yes. There is a large cultural divide in Florida. Florida is the largest cattle state, east of the Mississippi. There are some real decent people there.
Unions have destroyed American labor. They need need to go away and never come back. What's their mantra? "we will use the power of persuasion, and if that doesn't work, we will use the persuasion of power…"
I own a vibe- 100,000 miles in 3 1/2 years and never needed a bit of maintenance!
No- the 2009 Matrix is. I know that the Vibe and Matrix are the same vehicle with different body styles but, it never occurred to me to see if it was on the list. Thanks for pointing it out.
Amazing … and to think democrats want to pass Card Check to that goons like this can find out how you vote on whether or not to unionize. Can you imagine?
I think all those thugs need to learn a bit of California car history. No, not cruises on Sunset, or drive-in restaurants. They need to look at other history. History from better times, long before Toyota was what they are today and air-cooled VWs were still being made and sold. Chrysler City of Commerce: closed. For Pico Rivera: closed. Ford San Jose: closed. For Richmond: closed. Chevrolet-Pontiac Van Nuys: closed. Uniroyal Los Angeles: closed. GM South Gate: closed. And much, much more.
Anyone care to guess the common factor in this picture?
right to work states
Sure. Good luck. I would expect the Vibe to be an otherwise high quality vehicle.
(Especially for a Pontiac, sorry to say).
Is it on the recall list?
Look what the union did "mich.and GM.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9qyTsoPHFQ
Right you are and thanks for the correction; my brain shut down and I posted the wrong word.
Unions should be reduced to one sole function, providing a 3rd voice on safety (separate from workers/employers) and providing legal representation in cases of labor disputes, that’s it. No more compensation bargaining, no more striking, the process is far too one-sided and just ends up hurting the average worker who the system is supposed to help.
Collective bargaining leads to collective failure and yet these people collectively pursue these ends. Surprised?
Killing Americans On The Mainland This Time!!!!!
I guess you people would just stand there while Management plants accused you and cussed you…You morons are a bunch of sheep…You seem to want to let Toyota Kill Us Here In The Mainland Like They Did On Pearl Harbor!!! They Would Never Still Be Mad At Us For Dropping Two Nukes On Them…Americans Are Very Self Absorbed!!! Those Workers Are Americans That Toyota Is Just Walking Out On After 25 Years…Shame On You Unpatriotic Jerks You Should All Be Ashamed!!!! P.S. If You Drive A Toyota…I Will Be Praying That It Stops!!! Rob

Unions still have a place in America and in today's economy, don't fool yourself.
As long as their are companies who are screwing employees, as long as their is employee abuse, unions will be needed and should be welcomed by every American worker with open arms.
Now, I'm not saying unions are without wrong.
I read all throughout here, "Unions treat their employees this way, that way, do this, are bad because of this, that, etc."
….We've been screwed over by our government before? Right?
We've been screwed over by our bosses before? Right?
Well, unions consist of people, too. People make mistakes. Just like we can all vote in new government leadership, we can vote in new union leadership. If you have a problem with how your union does business. Change the leadership. The same with your government. However, the one place you have no voice is in the workplace. And that's why we'll always need unions.

[...] first met them in my January 28th post, “Union Boss to Members: Shut the F*%k Up, You Motherf*%kers!“ These are real people, rank and file workers. Let me introduce you to some of them through [...]
Having been born and raised in a union mill town that I watched get strangled by the unions to the point of not one mill remaining open, entire corporations vanished or were forced overseas. The entirety of the Northeast's manufacturing base just disappeared, never to return. The unions couldn't give a rats a$$ about those lost jobs, or they would have made concessions when it mattered.
You now buy inferior quality, and your dollars leave the Republic, never to come back.
Our few remaining significant manufacturing bases now hang in the union noose. We are over the tipping point, Over 50% of our cars are made by foreign (non-union) manufacturers.
This is Lowell Massachusetts on a national scale.
This is quite possibly our last chance: We folks can sit idly by and let history repeat itself, or we can take control of our lives and away from the union bosses.
A nation without a manufacturing base is a third-world nation, and we're almost there.
