2012: Playing to Win – How the GOP is Winning the Race for Obama
by Lisa FritschA friend of mine called me after the Iowa caucuses and asked, “Why isn’t John Huntsman getting noticed in this race? He’s the most intelligent candidate in the field!” I would say the GOP nominees are much like what we say in Texas about the weather. If you don’t like the weather right now, wait five minutes.
GOP insider and strategist Charles Krauthammer recently tagged the 2012 Republican candidates as “embarrassing.” To the contrary, I believe the GOP has good candidates who have A: failed to learn from their predecessors mistakes in 2008 and/or B: suffer from a timid, frantic, backbiting GOP establishment who distrust the minds and intellect of the conservative voter and the power of conservative ideals. Therefore if Huntsman can wait on the GOP to choke on Romney he will by default he get his turn and perhaps just in time. How is that for embarrassing?
The problem for Republicans in 2012 election isn’t a fleet of poor candidates. The lack of support and backbone from the Republican establishment that would allow them to play to win is killing us. The GOP is choking. In tennis, choking happens most when the better player realizes he should and can win. Instead of going for the shots that got him in a winning position, he plays not to lose hoping his opponent will give him the match. One backhand in the net or one forehand sailed long, and he is immediately thrown off course, convinced that he must play it safe. This has been the GOP for the past nine months which explains the ushering in and out of every running Republican candidate where no one has shown the longevity to make it to the final.
Each GOP candidate has found a way to self destruct at the moment of their ascent with their base helping them to the door on the way down. Of late, it is Santorum who after being non-existent in the media’s and voter’s eyes (at least it appeared) followed Mitt Romney by a mere eight votes in Iowa. Santorum placed well because he is a true family values candidate who isn’t afraid to put God, family, faith, and conservative values first. But look at Santorum now. Not only are his GOP allies saying that he cannot win, but he helped support that theory by using black and welfare in the same sentence. A rookie mistake for any white conservative candidate running against the first black President. With the NAACP and Hillary Clinton on his tail and unwillingness by conservatives to have the courage and will to take a hit for a candidate in the face of controversy and trouble, someone may as well cue the “nana na-na, nana na-na, hey hey hey…
It isn’t that Santorum is alone. Just look at how quickly Herman Cain’s bags were packed as soon as the media told the establishment he had to go. Though Cain’s infidelity scandals were circumstantial and a matter of he said she said folly the media told us we could not abide immorality. The GOP establishment balked – since they never approved Cain anyway – and the media got away with the same scam they pulled in 2008 with Sarah Palin. (The truth isn’t that the media objected to the affairs but that they couldn’t risk all those white Iowans handing Cain a significant victory.) Win for Obama.
Did we learn nothing from the media with McCain/Palin in 200? The media initially tolerated McCain because they knew he was no threat to Obama. And the establishment approved of McCain because they approved him. Nothing to see here. But as soon as McCain announced Sarah Palin as his running mate bells rang. The media sniffed defeat at her strong conservative values and outsider appeal. With that the media wore McCain and the base down with their scoffing of Palin. The fact that the media was all over Palin should have told McCain that he was finally cooking with hot grease. Instead, he choked. The uncertainty and fracturing of the party was toxic to the voters. Win for Obama.
With Cain out, Newt Gingrich was next on top. Voters found Newt Gingrich’s quick wit and insider experience reassuring imagining he could cut Obama down to size in the debates and lend common sense to getting the country back on track. He’d had affairs but was forgiven by the media, the establishment and conservative voters. (The media knew they couldn’t replay the sex scandal card so quickly after Cain so they let the GOP base do their work for them.) The establishment quickly warned voters of Newt’s deception: his wisdom, arrogance; his experience, political profiteering. And, his mood and temperament volatile and explosive. Before Gingrich could have the “courage to run a positive campaign” as he instructed Mitt Romney, his campaign bled out to fourth place in Iowa. Win for Obama.
At least Cain, Gingrich, and now Santorum were given some credence for a spell whereas other candidates peaked too quickly or were over rated before they took the stage. Michelle Bachmann who won the first Iowa straw poll and debated gaffe free for nine months was foiled from the start for being a woman. Ann Coulter made it clear that Republicans are not willing to take any chances on “making a Congresswoman the first female President” no matter how sensible and sound her platform and judgment. Win for Obama.
Governor Rick Perry was someone the establishment could get behind until they couldn’t. When Perry made the gaffe at the debate where he forgot a department of Government he would cut, he was immediately off the list. The establishment turned away as the leftist media licked Perry’s bones clean. The point was made clear that while a good ole boy Governor was good enough for Texas, it wouldn’t do against Obama and his teleprompter on the national scene. His Texas twang is just too risky. Perry had the record, the name, and the money, but in the end lost the backing of the GOP establishment over a delay and a drawl. Win for “57 states” Obama.
Which leaves Ron Paul, Mitt Romney and John Huntsman. In Romney’s case the GOP is firmly behind him as they believe he can win: he has the money, looks, charisma, some conservative ideas – when he needs them – and experience. What Romney does not have however, is the confidence of the core conservative voter. The fact that Ron Paul was a close third in Iowa proves as much. While establishment conservatives approve of him, something about RomneyCare, even if it is in Massachusetts, and his slick ways from his hair to his tongue holds back the approval of the average American conservative. Still, Romney has yet to double fault or put a backhand in the net so he lives for now. This is still a win for Obama since Republicans are betting on Romney by default (admittedly so) and for all the wrong reasons.
Instead of making these last nine months about how any one of these candidates run circles around Obama in class, values and experience, the GOP participated in childish infighting against their own that actually made Obama appear all grown up and Presidential. It is not that we are missing prime candidates; rather our candidates are being thwarted by a disloyal and conformist base. While Obama can do no wrong in the eyes of sycophantic Obamaphiles on the left, Republicans demand that candidates not use “um” and “you know” in a debate. A pointed finger, or a curious tilt of the head towards the candidate in question and the GOP is unsure, unsteady and on the defensive.
And, then there is Huntsman yet to get his due. With no one for or against him at this point, it’s a win for him. Only thing is he will have to peak at just the right moment and wait for the establishment to see that the only reason no one on the left is picking on Romney is because they are not threatened by him. Or, he can hope that conservative voters get a backbone and listen to their gut and not the media, right or left. This would finally be playing to win.

IMHO, the GOP debates have been self destructing, and unproductive. All of the candidates energies should have been directed towards Obama.
And it's not for lack of material, either. Every one of them should be blowing bama's big bloated government right out of the water, especially with all of its czarisms and the accompanying regulatory burden sans representation.
Or are the remaining candidates too cozy with how much Ojoker has adulterated the concept of limited government?
"the media told us we could not abide immorality"
Haaahaha
Sorry, I couldn't help a little outburst on that one.
"This has been the GOP for the past nine months which explains the ushering in and out of every running Republican candidate where no one has shown the longevity to make it to the final."
All while 0bamies attack machine is clueless on who to attack and with what lies. Maybe the GOP is being smart by not giving the Democrazi's an easy target this soon.
JP, there was ONE great debate that NO ONE saw. It happened between Newt Gingrich and Jon Huntsman. Whether or not you like either one, it was jaw-dropping to see just how smart the two are. It was an open format where both laid out more information in 90 minutes than we have seen in the entire campaign season.
Any and all of the GOP candidates have ton of ammo to use against Obama. If nothing else, his record of governance, and accomplishments have been the bleakest of any president.
"Did we learn nothing from the media with McCain/Palin in 200?"
C'mon now. It wasn't THAT long ago, was it?
Romney people won't vote for Gingrich or Paul; Paul people won't vote for Romney or Gingrich; Gingrich people won't vote for Paul or Romney. So already you have about two thirds of the GOP refusing to vote for the GOP candidate whoever he is. Obama smiles and keep silent.
A high order criteria of America's business after getting the socialist administration removed is to eliminate the RNC. Whether Romney is nominated or not, whether someone else cleans out the Whitehouse or not, the GOP needs to be relegated to irrelevance in favor of a Conservative American Party–to my mind.
This is the very reason Perry seemed flummoxed by Bachman's pit-yorkie attacks on him the first debate he attended. He thought he was there to explain what he as POTUS would do differently than lil o…
As Gomer said… SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!!
Welcome to the BIG time, Gov Goodhair…

"…….A friend of mine called me after the Iowa caucuses and asked, “Why isn’t John Huntsman getting noticed in this race? He’s the most intelligent candidate in the field!”……."
Is your friend from China…..?????
"GOP has good candidates who have A: failed to learn from their predecessors mistakes in 2008 and/or B: suffer from a timid, frantic, backbiting GOP establishment "
I think most of it is "A". We simply keep walking down the same path as if all political history is erased from their minds once it has occurred.
Seems simple from the bleachers…….
Why even have the "debates"? Once again, the GOP RINOS are letting the media pick the candidate. Naturally, the media is going to pick the RINO(Mittens/Huntsman) and use subterfuge and outright lies to undermine the conservatives.
Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain. BTw, what ever happened to the commie party "women" who said Cain "harrassed" them? No where to be found, are they?
This is all too reminescent of Mr. McCain with his lack of gonads theme of "Lets make nice to the Marxist/Socialist Obama" failed bid for the presidency.
It is time to take the gloves off and serve up a steady diet of brass knuckled sandwiches to all of those Marxists/Socialist/Democrats who are in the process of destroying our Republic.
Playing to Win:
Rule No. 1
Avoid debates hosted by crazed Democratic operatives.
President Solyndra Fast&Furious Volt Downgrade 9%U3 for re-election in 2012! What a record to run on.
The GOP (Grant Obama Power) isn't choking. They don't even swallow hard with guilt of negligence. The very usurpation of barry soetero since 2008 has already revealed the complicit CONgress in the crimes of the century against "we the people". Completely castrated with soprano voices of nothingness, the GOP is allowing the total demise of what's left of America. The liar-in-chief has conquered them with barley a whimper. Spineless, clueless pawns of global elites everyone of them. Name one with integrity. Impossible. Actions and off camera voices speak louder than the corrupt members of the CONgressional cesspool. Disgusting.
Joe Arpaio in AZ has the guts and conscience to stand against this Chicago thugocracy.
Only candidate with conservative principles with a solid core of supporters that don't change is Ron Paul. Romney attracts the brain-dead tv-watcher demographic which makes up too much of the population and particularly the older GOP establishment who still haven't "gotten on" the Internet. By time time they wise up it will be too late.
It doesn't matter.
The public is not paying attention to all this anyway.
The last of October is when people will decide.
Unless you talk to someone personally and then keep reminding them and then make sure they vote.
I swear, Romney must be surrounded by some kind of supernatural Mormon force-field that deflects all attacks against him. Any time one of the other candidates launches something, he either completely dodges it or turns it back around on the attacker.
I haven't seen a politician be this effective at doing such a thing since Bill Clinton was in office. Not saying I support him — I don't — it's just that I think he has the strange ability to be an almost blank slate upon whom people can cast their own ideas. He's everything and he's nothing.
Romney's not the guy I want to win the nomination, but I'm beginning to think he could beat Obama — and possibly quite easily if the media starts to turn against Obama at some point.
OR nobody wants to be president when the house is burning down. 2012 is going to be a rough 4 years. THAT'S THE US BEING GREECE.
Nobody wants to be captain of the titanic AFTER it hit the iceberg.
Once people figure out that Romney is is a big business republican.Won't reform the tax code for the average citizen{keeps tax loopholes for the rich},with liberal Massachusetts morals and Rick Santorum was a leader in the big spending republican congress from 2000-2006.I believe they're called rino's.
Then you have to look again at Newt Gingrich.Even with his faults{most of the same ones I have}.He's the only one with the vision and experience to turn this country around. He played a big roll in welfare reform was a big part of balancing the budget four years in a row.Four years in a row!!!!! newtgringrich360.com
Sure. Check it out here:
http://www.c-span.org/Events/Huntsman-Gingrich-De...
Bottom line, its time the candidates knocked off the blue on blue attacks and started telling us how they expect to beat that Communist SOB in the White House.
"Romney is no good because he will do this!"
Santorum is no good because he's going to do that!"
"Paul is no good because he will something else!"
BLAH-BLAH-BLAH!
What the hell is obysmal going to do? Screw the country even more.
Any one of the GOP candidates would be better than Baracky….
No, I missed that one…I noticed you have a link below and I'll listen, Thanks.
)
Charisma and Romney are words that don't go together.
Romney has all the charisma of an Android and I'm talking Lt. Data before the emo-chip kind. He makes Spock "charismatic."
Romney has looks and money. Wall Street and bankers love him, too.
Paul has wisdom, experience, vast knowledge of the system, is afraid of no one, or any question, speaks from the heart and can cite the Constitution at will when the rest just have deer-in-the-headlight looks, and on top of all that, actually has a plan to fix what's broken by returning to the Founder's vision, and would easily defeat Obama in a General Election and yet he is dismissed?
Too much of our nation's electorate is sold on warfare or welfare I guess.
To follow on with the sports analogy, I suggest the Republicans are playing 8-ball and calling a safety shot again and again and again. Doing nothing to break the table. Never taking the cripple.

"The time is near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves."
George Washington
The Sunday morning Meet the Press debate might have been the first time I thought Huntsman acted like he actually wants to be President. All the other debates he was kind of just… there.
They are blowing it all by using it on each other and doing the lefts work for them.
Alinsky, RULE 4: "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules." You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity's very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)
Is the DNC running the Republican party?
I haven't seen a politician be this effective at doing such a thing since Bill Clinton was in office
Yeah, then you haven't witnessed the teflon nature of barack obama. THE most corruptible, "non-corruptible" politician in the history of politics.
It seems that way, but if Clinton had a scandal, his poll numbers would somehow go up. Obama's have been consistently going lower and lower. He has the media covering for him and that's it, and it's not working with most Americans.
I'd go so far as to say Obama's main campaign strategy is to hope the media will take down whoever the Republican opponent is. He realizes he's stunk up the country, and he's pinning his reelection chances on the media trying to convince all of us that the Republican will smell worse. I don't think that plan will succeed.
Don't worry. The democrats don't want to win the white house. This election will be the first election in which both parties do NOT want to be president.
NOBODY WANTS TO HANDLE THE HOT POTATO.
“[The candidates] suffer from a timid, frantic, backbiting GOP establishment who distrust the minds and intellect of the conservative voter and the power of conservative ideals.”
Lisa Fritsch struck political gold with the first swing of her word processor! The Republican voters aren’t vetting the candidates . . . The Establish is!
It’s not that the Establishment considers the conservative movement to be less than intelligent, but that a smaller government would result in less power and patronage opportunities for the victors.
It is what they've done. Anyone who is NOT Romney is targeted for immediate destruction once they're close to their favorite candidate.
Just you wait, the media is holding back a giant flood gate and waiting to open it, if Mittens gets the nomination. They're making sure everyone thinks that Mittens is the most "electable" and utterly annihilate his competition in order to completely and utterly tear him so far apart.
The writing is on the wall, we have seen this kind of thing before in the 2008 election, and Mitten's record is nearly lock-in-step with Obama's. Mittens is nothing more than a silver tongued serpent.
Boring Breitbart blogger finds problems with every GOP candidate. Blames left for all of them. Sad and pathetic way to go through life, lassie.
Add to that the weirdly personal and venomous attacks on Ron Paul, and we're doomed.
What is wrong with us?
"To the contrary, I believe the GOP has good candidates who have A: failed to learn from their predecessors mistakes in 2008 and/or B: suffer from a timid, frantic, backbiting GOP establishment who distrust the minds and intellect of the conservative voter and the power of conservative ideals."
you forgot
C: are dealing with a RINOpublican party that's infested with Marxists who want a Marxist to win.
Once that problem is solved, the others disappear as well.
I know IMO, the GOP debates have been a bust. Instead of mud wrestling, they all should be dropping nukes on Obama.
Huntsman thinks tea partiers are insane. He has said, and clarified, as much this week. I predict this will not endear him to his base.
He is a technocrat and a "problem solver" and is not a fan of taking stands on principle. He claims to be electable, which everyone understands is a synonym for "not really conservative".
It does seem at times, as if the GOP Establishment doesn't have a particular problem with the direction that our national 'vehicle' is being driven. They just want to be the one doing the driving!
They already ran off their big concern in Cain. They could not pull the race card on him, which is why they ran him off. Huntsman and Paul are a joke in terms of national defense, and the rest, except Santorum, are all progressives.
BINGO!!!!!
well said
Now that's a great look at it.
In that ABC debate, which was a slap to the entire American people, when Georgie Boy asked the question about gay marriage I believe the correct answer by all the candidates should have been " This is one area I agree with the current president and like him believe marriage is between a man and a woman". If that was said I bet you would never hear that question again as it would make Obama look bad to all the gays and lose them for him too.
They will when the DNC plays all the sound bites in their attack commercials during dancing with the stars.
There really is not too much difference between them.
This election cycle is not going to be much different than any other, it takes time to change the status quo. What will be a big game changer will be the number of Tea Party congressmen that get elected. Our real power will come in the congress. If we keep up the heat in the congress from now on we can eventually bring fundamental change to the GOP and the presidential nomination process. Too many people have this Pollyanish view that it should all come at once, they need to grow up some more and commit for the long haul, this is not a 30 min sitcom or a 2 hour movie where everything turns out swimmingly just in time for their next bowel movement or beer run.
i just posted the same thing before this caught my eye.
im getting sick… and very scared, another 5 years of this and we ain't coming back.
damn right!
a 76 year old looney
yup lets vote for him
whatever
anybody but obama
MSM turns sows ear into silk purse
200? eeep cool typo
Moral vs immoral!! Tim Tebow for President! Just Kidding….But the immoral left will hold the right to a high standard….As will we, the one we pick as our President to lead America back to a moral foundation!!! The immoral left can break moral laws, they have publicly declared they are not bound by them, nor do they recognize them!! There you go all the foundational laws of America, null and void in their belief!!! But because we believe in the lawful boundaries set by morality, they hold us to it…If we lie, cheat, steal, commit adultery, ie The things they do openly….Then we will be called out as sinners!! By them!!! Is Huntsman the answer….? Doubtful….Just all the other choices!!! America is tired of the "Good cop/bad cop"/Good President/bad president game!!!! We are being played like pawns in a game of Chess!!! Wake up people!!!
You think if it actually happened, they would still be pushing. When Rush pointed it out, I realized how strange it was that they had disappeared. Cain is a high-profile individual with lots of $$$$$, and you would think these women would at least be suing him, and the press would cover every painful moment.
But none of that has occurred. To the demonrats though, it is the seriousness of the charge that matters, not the fact that none of this has been proven.
and Mittens. Anybody, but Mittens and Obama.
Unfortunately Governor Gardasil did his job, which was take Bachmann out.
I fear four more years are coming………..
Which is why I constantly bang my head on the nearest solid object everyone I hear that only Mittens is "electable." It's utter garbage, taken only by those who are not really secure with being conservative, are establishment types, too defeatist to give other candidates a chance, or are lock-in-step with the establishment.
It has made watching Red Eye a huge pain in the ass as they prop up Mittens, because he's "electable."
Sadly it will be Mittens as nominee, and they will succeed
i will vote for Mitt is need bewith a more conservative senate we would do ok. <DIV style=”FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, new york, times, serif; FONT-SIZE: 12pt”> <DIV style=”FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, new york, times, serif; FONT-SIZE: 12pt”> <DIV style=”BORDER-BOTTOM: #ccc 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #ccc 1px solid; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; LINE-HEIGHT: 0; MARGIN: 5px 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; HEIGHT: 0px; FONT-SIZE: 0px; BORDER-TOP: #ccc 1px solid; BORDER-RIGHT: #ccc 1px solid; PADDING-TOP: 0px”></DIV>
That's defeatist talk.
I hope Cains' high priced lawyer is investigating them and will drop the big one on them in late August or early September. I loved Cains businessman's experience and voiced commitment to problem solving. Was he the right guy? We'll never know now.
yes it is, i need better meds, so sorry <DIV style=”FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, new york, times, serif; FONT-SIZE: 12pt”> <DIV style=”FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, new york, times, serif; FONT-SIZE: 12pt”> <DIV style=”BORDER-BOTTOM: #ccc 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #ccc 1px solid; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; LINE-HEIGHT: 0; MARGIN: 5px 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; HEIGHT: 0px; FONT-SIZE: 0px; BORDER-TOP: #ccc 1px solid; BORDER-RIGHT: #ccc 1px solid; PADDING-TOP: 0px”></DIV>
It is always easier to see what is happening from the outside looking in.
It is my belief that the GOP is a fabian-socialist organization. They want the same thing as the communists, but they move incrementally, so as to appear as an opposition party and also to prevent you from stampeding to revolt.
It is also my belief that the GOP was infiltrated by democrat operatives during the Clinton years, and perhaps earlier, maybe GHWB's term. This became most apparent in 1999, when my conversations with GOP organizations led me to conclude they were shaping their language to get people to accept ideas that were completely unpalatable to them. As Bubba Clinton might have said, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Then beat them".
yeah like the guy wanting to be captain of the Hindenburg.
Understood, but that's why they hire campaign managers…… they should know better.
Yes, indeed!
They should, but don't. Where the heck is Lee Atwater when you need him ?
So that is what this is supposed to look like, I thought this was a game show.
If you have not watched that watch it, no loaded questions no gotcha moments, no rhetoric, no sandbagging just two solid guys talking about Americas future.
Hmm anyone pushing to get more like that?
Typical though…GOP has no decent candidate? Whine and blame it on the MSM and the left.
to steal johnk114's link newt and huntsman do. http://www.c-span.org/Events/Huntsman-Gingrich-De...
The only question is of the 3 left in the race who are not mittens or Paul to put on the ticket
Newt Gingrich
John Huntsman
Rick Santorum
Rick Perry
And yet not a squeak from one GOP candidate. Not a peep squeak. Its as if they do not want to run against Obama, just each other.
Sounds like we need a write in campain for Cain, He could have lead a lot of bLacksoff the plantation. Imagine how much better off we'd all be.
Ms. Fritsch says conservative voters should get a backbone and vote with their gut. I agree.
Didn't they do that in Iowa? Where 53 percent of the vote went to Santorum, Gingrich, Perry, and Bachmann?
Her article is long on complaints, but short on solutions.
Here's one solution: Gingrich and Perry should drop out after New Hampshire, which would allow Santorum, the one conservative candidate who can win despite his stands on abortion and gay marriage, to go mano-a-mano with Romney. Or, Santorum and Perry could drop out and led Gingrich take the mantle (Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman won't drop out because they want Obama to be re-elected, even though they should drop out for the good of the country).
So how about it, Lisa? Why don't you go to South Carolina this week, and yell at the top of your lungs at Paul, Huntsman, Perry, Santorum, and Gingrich, why four of them should not drop out so that Romney doesn't win based on the fractured conservative vote.
What I'm seeing here is a lot of people who are on the verge of saying that they will sit on their hands if Romney is the nominee. But by doing that, the final nails in the coffin of the United States will be hammered, and it will be the hand-sitters fault. They key is to get Obama out!
is that why they have run more negative articles about Mitt than any other candidate? Is that why Obama made history for the first time by running attack ads against someone campaigning to be a nominee? Yep your right he is definitely who they want to run against which is why they have propelled everyone but Romney to frontrunner (Huntsman and Paul excluded) only to have them self-destruct in some way shape or form? You're so right though they love Romney and keep sniping at him every chance they get because they want him to win…
Too bad Newt is using Alinsky's playbook. Add the fact that he thinks FDR was the "greatest personal liberty president ever" and that he is a "Teddy Roosevelt republican" or a "Realpolitik Wilsonian" (look up Woodrow Wilson). I think calling Mitt a moderate is like the elephant calling a pig fat.
If Mitt wins the Nomination I can't wait to laugh at everyone calling him a moderate or flipflopper, when he destroys Obama in the general, and then takes us back from the precipice… He ran the most liberal state in the union as a conservative (no he's wasn't nor is perfect neither are you or I though) think what he will do with conservative legislators behind him rather than the true marxists he fought tooth and nail against in Mass. I'd like to remind you as unpalatable as Romneycare is, its alternative (true fully socialized Healthcare completely government run) was going to pass once he was no longer governor. By passing Romneycare he at least made it impossible for them to reach that goal any time soon.
"Joe Arpaio in AZ has the guts and conscience to stand against this Chicago thugocracy. " That's why he endorses Perry!!! As do I!!

I disagree with the notion that competitive nomination fights are counterproductive. If a person is too dainty, foolish, flawed or fainthearted to enter and win a nomination fight, it makes no sense to assume they'd have what it took to go toe to toe with Obama, his billion dollar warchest and his admirers in the media.
"I hadn’t given Mountain Dew much thought, but like many of you I was unsatisfied with the Republican presidential field and was looking for something more, something that could excite me and get the job done. As we have run out of sacrificial frontrunners, I decided to give the Dew another look.
I liked what I saw, even if I don’t particularly care for the taste.
Two items in the news this past week have convinced me that Mountain Dew, while only a carbonated beverage, has everything we seem to be looking for in a leader these days.
You can tell a lot about a person or thing by how he, she or it acts when under attack, and Mountain Dew’s defensive behavior is a profile in courage. Facing a lawsuit by an Illinois man who claimed he found a dead mouse in his pop, Mountain Dew disregarded the possible ramifications to its culinary reputation and simply told the truth: the man could not have found a mouse or any other organic matter in that can because the highly corrosive soda would have dissolved it, turning it into a “‘jelly-like’ substance.”
This brave act speaks to character but also to steadfast opposition to frivolous litigation and, more broadly, to our Culture of Complaint. Consider, too, the ice cold finality with which the beverage dispatches foreign intruders. Why erect electrified fences along the border when a moat of Mountain Dew would be just as effective and more refreshing?"

"Vote Mountain Dew today or another Tuesday if you live somewhere other than New Hampshire. Because if you don’t, Romney wins."
Sounds like #15 is pretty much done.
15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.
The most destructive force in theGOP debates is Ron Paul. He is a dangerous individual and the other candidates are not going after him enough. They feel he won't get the nomination, so they don't take him down. He has got to be shown up as the Antiamerican Leftist that he is. Once he can be eliminated, things will settle down. Also superpacs are very bad and should never have been allowed.
Amazing, isn't it? A simple format that anyone can understand. If we had more debates like this, maybe we could choose some REAL leaders for this country. Instead, all we're given is thirty second soundbites, for thirty year problems. And idiots all around the country form their "opinions" based on the thirty second soundbites.
Gingrich did this in the beginning. Then scum like Paul and Romney started in with the superpacs to take him down. He is now in the position of defending himself. Ron Paul is the worst of the lot. If he isn't taken down soon we can expect Obama to finish us off completely.
Couldn't agree more. The biggest problem is Dr. Dementia. No one thinks this lowlife can get the nomination, so they really don't go after him He has his band of locusts that show up everywhere and of course Obama's armies too. Newt has got to take this lowlife fraud out and show him up for the Progressive Leftist pile of humal trash that he is. He is a big problem and could end up causing the Kenyan to stay in power. He has got to be decimated so that not even his band of drugged up locusts can stop it.
OK, I can see all this in-fighting between candidates and voters at this point, it's normal. But once a clear winner emerges on top, we all MUST back that winner if we are to beat Obama! No one candidate fits the bill for everyone. The fact that must be remembered is BEAT OBAMA! If the fact of backing Romney or Newt is distasteful, put this in your mind: 4 more years with Obama and Michelle running this country into the ground, to the point maybe of no return from a Soros/Alinsky rule; it's already happening folks.
That is why the GOP must become history after we get rid of the communist-in-chief and the demonrats in the district of criminals.
We can send people there but we must have a majority within the party, or we are pissing up a rope. The demonrats and the GOP are not going to die easily, and we must have conservatives ready to run . We have to stay away from the party system, as they are too easily infiltrated and corrupted .
Your pick?
None of the Above.
With the current landscape, "defeat – X" super-pacs, that are unhitched from specific candidates, are likely to be a thing of the future. A new dimension of hatred.
The media have done almost zero for Huntsman. Give me a break. I'd sooner believe the left actually wants to run against Romney.
Is that what Dallas thinks? Can you be more specific? Its Huntsman who answers the fiscal conservative message the best, next to Ron Paul. All the others are bound to keep up the "good times". Its Huntsman, and again Paul, who know the setup for the next round of bailouts is on its way. I thought the Tea Party once agreed with this? What puts Huntsman over Paul is the will to front policy that is achievable, if not perfect.
This needs to be balanced with letting the primary run its course. It is the establishment and the media who rule the day, when we coalesce too soon. This is no time to be picking Romney's running mate!
