Connecticut Governor Schemes With SEIU to Unionize Day Care Providers & Others Without A Vote
by LaborUnionReportConnecticut’s union-bought governor, Daniel Malloy, is apparently scheming with the SEIU to unionize his state’s daycare providers and personal care attendants through a secret plan using the flawed method of card-check unionization.
By stripping individuals of their right to vote on whether or not to unionize, Malloy is virtually guaranteeing money (paid by taxpayers) will go into his SEIU cronies’ pockets.
According to Raising Hale’s Zach Janowski, Malloy has created “working groups” through executive order that will “guide the unionization” over the next year.
The two working groups will meet Friday morning. The Personal Care Attendant Working Group will meet at 10 a.m. and the Family Child Care Working Group will meet at 11 a.m., both in Room 410 of the Capitol.
Malloy created the working groups with executive orders nine and 10. Adding daycare providers alone to the union roles could increase dues revenue by $1 million.
The executive orders also include a card check provision that takes away the ability of daycare owners and PCAs to vote by secret ballot.
Since the card-check method of unionization denies individuals of their right to vote by secret ballot, requiring only a majority of a specific group’s signatures, unionization will be easy.
As unions like the SEIU know how to easily rig card-check campaigns, it is likely that the SEIU will concentrate getting signatures in high density areas, while ignoring the more rural areas.
Once the SEIU obtains the majority, it can claim all of the individuals and, shortly thereafter, begin collecting their dues.
And who is overseeing this process for Governor Malloy? Why, the SEIU, of course.
According to Janowski:
Dennis Murphy, deputy commissioner of the Department of Labor, will chair both working groups. Murphy is the former director of human resources in Stamford where Malloy was mayor. He also served as director of human resources and chief administrative officer in Bridgeport.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Murphy worked as a staff attorney for the union NAGE/IBPO during the 1980s.
Note: NAGE/IBPO are subsidiaries of the SEIU.
Janowski notes that the SEIU has already created a brochure/card for daycare providers. Above the signature line, in fine print, the SEIU’s card states:
I hereby authorize the SEIU Local 2001 as my exclusive representative for the purposes of collective bargaining. I understand the SEIULocal 2001 may request recognition from the State of Connecticut or the appropriate subdivision of the state to represent me in bargaining with respect to rates, benefts, and other terms and conditions of my work as a child care provider.
As stated above, once the SEIU collects a majority of signed cards, all of the individuals in the classification will be unionized and the SEIU can begin collecting tax-payer funded union dues.

I give my sympathy to the resident of Connecticut. They did inflict this pain upon themselves. I would love to see it pass and watch how expensive childcare becomes even more outrageous. Then finally the state pass some type of subsidy for people who could not afford to pay for child care.
The minnesota governor, dayton, who purchased the governorship with his inherited millions, is doing the same thing. A judge has put it on ice so far. Just being a lickspittle for the unions I suppose.
They will never stop, but union membership has been dropping since the 60s or 70s. The industries they were most successful with have gone overseas or gone bankrupt.
I recall reading about a pottery factory in red wing minnesota. After a strike it went bankrupt. Bet those workers really had a lot to toast with the success of their union and their lack of jobs.
I can't wait to move out of this blue state. CT is so screwed up and it won't end until it completely collapses. EPIC FAILURE.
There should be no such thing as a 'closed shop' – it's a restraint of fair trade & freedom of choice of the individual worker… And it should be illegal for employers to be forced to collect union dues for the unions! If that were stopped, the unions would quickly be out of business!

This 'stealth' unionizing of caregivers is appalling. These 'caregivers', for the most part are family members who provide care for a child or disabled spouse and recieve some social welfare from the state. All this means is that they will now get less because the union is getting the government to siphon off their dues before they recieve the aid. Already the case in Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota
There is absolutely NO WAY THIS CAN BE LEGAL in America. NO UNION can be formed without a vote of its members. I know the have already done this in other states, with home health providers, so they can steal from Medicaid money. This should be next in line to be thrown out by the supreme court.

Kalifornia did this. In a few short years it has become the fastest growing item on our state budget. It's completely out of control, wrought with fraud, only 1 person to investigat the fraud in the whole state. The total cost of the program is in the $billions. Union membership is mandatory.

I find out everything I can on the judges before an election, and I make a copy of it, and I hand it out to all my family & friends in case they don't have time to do their own research. I give them the information with ALL the info on each one, and I don't try to tell them who to vote in or out. I just give them the info, and let the chips fall where they may. At least they have more than a name, though. Even Newt Gingrich has said THE JUDGES ARE VERY IMPORTANT…they're changing our whole system of law!!!
Why not get the word out, and help to change it instead of moving? Look at what Newt Gingrich has done with NO workers…and NO money! He's talked to people. He's given them FACTS. Not arguing…but FACTS that can't be argued with. Keep it respectful, but be sure of what you know, then people will respect YOU, and listen to you. Newt is rising in the polls because he KNOWS what he knows, and is sure of himself. Some see that as cocky…but being sure of oneself is NOT being cocky…it's just self-assuredness. It's a strength that Reagan also had. Everyone else could go one way, and he would go another alone…and not care what someone said. CHANGE THE SYSTEM if you don't like it. Start by telling people to RESEARCH JUDGES…research how people in your local government vote, and then vote them out if they're radical. Then LET YOUR WHOLE REALM of friends and family know what you know. Give them FACTS and web sites and You Tube videos. Show them that there IS hope. It's WE THE PEOPLE…and the people put them in there…and all it takes is KNOWLEDGE OF THE PERSON RUNNING to make an "INFORMED" decision to vote them in or out. Go to any GOOD lawyer or the Heritage Foundation, and ask them if it's possible for a union to DISBAND. It is! The same way people march to have a union…they can march to DISBAND, and throw them out! Usually in their contract there is a way for them to do away with the union in their company. Look into it. Don't feel powerless or they win! There are a few against the many. Deeda58, I have worked polls locally and assisted in campaigns. I've walked door-to-door for conservative candidates, attended rallies, donated to campaigns (locally & nationally), I've had deep discussions with family and friends and have successfully enlightened several. I attended the first Tea Party rally in Hartford with like minded friends and we continue to be involved. I've written countless letters to our Senators, Governor, other elected officials and the Hartford Courant liberal newspaper. I've raised a daughter who is a conservative and who has joined the Republican Club at her college in another blue state to the north. She in turn has spread facts to the liberal mind set of the college student. I'm not running away from the problems here in CT, I will continue to do whatever it takes to fight the corruption as I have very deep roots in CT. It's a challenge I am faced with every day and I no longer hold my tongue about my beliefs and have lost 'friends' as a result (my choice). CT is the "Constitution State" and I expect our elected officials to uphold it and not bow down to unions or special interests. I agree completely with your post – knowledge is the key to change. I am very inspired by people like you that I know. And passing knowledge on to your daughter will help to ensure that the next generation understands what "of the people, by the people, and for the people" means. I sadly asked a young 30 year old one day who the vp was, and he didn't know. He'd just gotten back from Afghanistan. While I was very thankful for his commitment to his country, I was surprised that he didn't even know who would take over should his commanding officer have to leave his office. He just laughed, and thought it was "stupid" to have to know that kind of stuff. Another niece of mine, also just turned 30 had no clue that we have 3 branches of government, and that the government gets its money from taxpayers. While she knew people paid taxes…she never put the two together somehow. And she WORKS ON PEOPLE'S TEETH! Ugh! She DID know who the vice president was, however, so I AM thankful for that! When I asked her how she felt about her children (she has two) perhaps living under a communist country before they turned 30, she just laughed, and said, "What? This is America!" I corrected her, and I said, "No. This WAS America….and we won't get it back if people like you don't start paying attention to what's going on…you ARE the future!" So, you can see how WONDERFUL I felt when I read your post of your involvement, as well as your daughter's. You will NOT lose Connecticut to the scoundrels. Americans have fought harder wars than this! If Washington can do it, and some of his men with no shoes…and all WE have to do today is pay attention….and we have computers..and all kinds of media at our fingertips…then we will make it too! Sorry, but they did a spot on the news the other day showing a mom and dad with TWO special needs children that the mother stays home with, and they automatically joined her to the SEIU union, and she has to pay over $25 for each child out of their SSI checks to the UNION…not to the state! I can send you the link to the story, because I heard it's also showing the story on You Tube. This is a way for the UNIONS to sign up more people to make more money for the unions.
I'm from Chicago, and I've watched Chicago politics my entire life, for over 40 years. Something's very wrong when 4 out of 8 governors end up in prison. And I watched OPERATION GREYLORD in the 80's I think it was when they marched all the judges and lawyers out of the court building downtown in handcuffs! The judge who helped to catch these crooks just died about a year ago. He was an upright man, and hero to the citizens. Many of those judges were being paid off by the lawyers to let even murderers go! One has only to watch the show "Boss" to know what most likely goes around behind closed doors.
I'm sorry I was being scarcastic. I was attempting to use logic and democrats. Trust me I believe you. After watching lemonade stands get shut down in Maryland there is nothing, nothing I put pass Dems when it comes to other peoples money.
