Unions Gloat: #Occupy Wouldn’t Be Happening Without Us
by Kyle OlsonWhile Marxists spout equality and equal worth, they are not above claiming ownership of the Occupy Wall Street protests. Turns out some are more equal than others.
LaborNotes reports:
“Unions and other sympathetic groups called out their members to defend the [Wall Street] occupation—rallying to a phenomenon that’s put wage cuts, layoffs, and foreclosures squarely in the national debate. …
“Red-shirted Communications Workers—many of them recently on strike against Verizon—graduate student members of the United Auto Workers, building services workers in their SEIU Local 32BJ purple T-shirts, and Transport Workers Local 100 members were among the unionists visible in the crowd.
“The victory came ‘because of our unity and strength,’ said James Taylor of 32BJ. He also thought [New York City Mayor] Bloomberg had made a political calculation: ‘Especially with the unions out here, they can’t claim it’s just a bunch of college kids.’”
Unions of every stripe have embraced the #Occupy movement with full-throated chants and jeers. According to LaborNotes, unions deserve the credit.
“Kevin Doyle, vice-president of 32BJ, said 500 members of his union rallied at Wall Street and then marched to the occupation on Wednesday. The union represents 120,000 workers in eight states, and is facing tough contract fights—2,600 Philadelphia property service workers may strike as soon as Saturday night.
“’The occupy demonstrations have struck a nerve around the country,’ Doyle said. ‘We’re participating because there’s the same kind of issues, the concentration of wealth, the need to re-democratize society.’”
I’m not so sure average Americans would be happy with SEIU’s version of “democracy.” By standing with Marxists, Communists and Anarchists, SEIU, the teachers unions and others are signalizing their version of “democracy” is more like totalitarianism. That’s a very dangerous flirtation we’re allowing to happen in America.

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS
As Ordered Composed in 1950's by Joseph Stalin
For the Destruction of America From the Inside
Published in the Congressional Record, January 10, 1963.
Appendix pages A34 & A35
Joseph Stalin: America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.

An old Soviet joke defines socialist equality as follows: If your neighbor has a cow and you do not, kill your neighbor's cow.

There is an old Russian fable, with different versions in other countries, about two poor peasants, Ivan and Boris. The only difference between them was that Boris had a goat and Ivan didn’t. One day, Ivan came upon a strange-looking lamp and, when he rubbed it, a genie appeared. She told him that she could grant him just one wish, but it could be anything in the world.
Ivan said, “I want Boris’s goat to die.”
Unions: "There wouldn't be thuggery without us". When this whole thing goes tits up (and it's inevitable, this collection of scalawags amounts to a TON of gunpowder and they are playing with matches) it very well COULD discredit everyone involved from Obama TO the unions.
There are two ways that 2012 is going to come out as: 1980, in which everyone rushes to the polls to GET RID OF a clueless idiot who has presided over a terrible economy, OR 1968, in which people rush to the polls to GET RID OF a clueless idiot who is aiding and abetting VIOLENCE AND CHAOS in the streets so that law and order can be restored. At this point, assuming there ARE elections (and we can take nothing for granted with this guy) we could nominate a ham sandwich and Obama is going to lose 40 states. He'll carry the other "17".
As for the unions, when we get our majorities back we owe them some payback: NATIONAL RIGHT TO WORK. Not only is it fair (no one should EVER be forced to join and pay dues to ANY organization they don't wish to be a member of) it will STIMULATE the economy like nothing ever before done!
Unions exist solely as a means of involuntarily transferring the money of business and individuals to democrat party campaign coffers. That is the only function they serve.
What is funny is the UNIONISTAS think Americans will embrace the OWS because they have the "respectability" of UNION THUGS??? Talk about STUPID! Both groups are DANGEROUS and SEDITIOUS.
Don't you love it how the cockroaches come out of the dark corners, when they think it's safe.
In other words, they've turned what was at least in the participants eyes something special and unique, into another bunch of bussed-in professional union agitators like in Wisconsin.
(slow clap)
Actually they better be careful in Zuccotti. When unions start saying "this wouldn't be happening without us" that usually means they want to start charging dues.
I live in a "union town"…Every day…I drive by the massive, empty GM factory with weeds replacing cars in the parking lot. Plants that used to employ thousands in the community… Been empty for about 3 years now…Those jobs are in Mexico and China now. Wonder if the UAW's "unity and strength" left with them…..?
I seem to recall a few weeks ago, the liberty folks were asserting union orchestration of the loiters, and the trollkins went into full admit nothing/deny everything/make counter-accusations mode.
Heh.
That's what I call transparency. Union Dem Socialists claiming credit for a bunch of Anti-American commie social misfits who need to get a job and pay their taxes instead of supporting Oblamo who is trying to steal more of our tax dollars to bribe his way into another marxist term.
They are 'useful idiots.' The Unions Socialists are Anti-American, and Oblamo is a traitor, imo!
Oh yeah. The mask has completely fallen off of Obama, the democrat party, and the left. If you want absolute proof the guy has absolutely no clue and NO common sense whatsoever, look no further than the fact that Obama is openly EMBRACING this rabble.
He's doubling down on fail.
Not only are Americans learning (and re-learning) the lesson that the democrats are the party of malaise (Jimmy Carter), we are learning (and re-learning) the lesson that the democrats are also the party of chaos, violence, disorder, theft, and stinking annoying hippies. 1968+1980.
Birds of a feather. Team Parasite is linking up…good news, free America is watching and taking note.
Just remember the unions are no longer needed to protect rights of workers, for one there are no jobs to protect and the unions are now and always were tools for the democrats and communists to aquire power. These morons don't have the three brain cells it takes to understand that the unions are why there are no jobs and why the Chinese are manufacturing all of our goods. The OWS crowd is what the future of America will look like if we don't rid ourselves of these communists. If you voted for obama I hope you feel shame.
We've got quite a few of those in the Dayton area. I drive by a rotting Delphi plant on a regular basis. There's a complex of the same in Moraine, a few minutes south. The charming sign on the outskirts of the parking lot, warning drivers to not park an "import" car in "the union's" lot hasn't been freshened up for a while. It's barely readable now.
Unions, singlehandedly creating more jobs in China than anyone else.
They will also own it when it turns extremely violent and becomes a permanent black eye in American history.
Friggin scumbags.
Are those credit card logos in the bottom right corner of that professionally-made banner? I'm sure the unions are happy to accept credit cards for dues payments.
Oh wait. That's right. They just take your money before you ever even see it, don't they?
Bolsheviks, that's what they are, that's what I will call them.
National right to work would be the greatest blow to the left EVER. I love it! $400,000,000 worth of union money to Democrats in '08. That means that money came mostly from taxpayer money. Infuriating.
Well I took a closer look at that image and when blown up you just cannot see enough detail to determine what those logos are, but they don''t look like credit card logos at all. Don't know what they are.
I love all of these groups and politicians supporting ows and claiming credit. When it hits the fan(and it will soon) all the unknown kids will go back home and disappear while all the idiots who jumped on board will be stuck holding the bag for the world to see. All this support is going to come back and haunt them big time. I've always said give the left enough time to show their true colors and they will bring themselves down, and we may be seeing that now

This list represents the tip of the "Billionaire Bolshevik" criminal enterprise system which was created for the sole purpose of funding the radical left democrat party.
That's essentially what they call themselves, too. After all, Bolshevik means "majority," as IsrealFeller taught us:

Well hey. At least they got that. :/
There is both danger and opportunity here. The unions are in bed with the protestors for purely utilitarian reasons — and that little fact is much to their discredit. It should be pushed hard, in every outlet we can reach. On the other hand, we know from experience that union goons are willing to use violence, and a violent outbreak on the streets of an American city is something no one wants.
However, should violence break out, remember that it's critical that the "other side" start it and be known to have started it. That would be the death blow to their "movement" in the eyes of middle America.
Shouldn't we be covering Fast and Furious?
There's nothing new to report with this crapfest, it's just there for the distraction.
With an assist by the environmentalists.
There was a time when union members,……
would have demonstrated nothing but disdain for such outbursts.
I remember in late October,1960, my brother and me going to the JFK,…
torch light parade which ended at the Chicago Stadium on W. Madison Ave,……
a very seedy part of town back in those days.
It was midnight and there we were, but we felt so safe because,…..
we were surrounded by all these union workers who,….
gave us the feeling that we were among our uncles.
There was a simple dignity about them,….
one that would give you a reassurance that our country,……..
was in good hands.
#Occupy will fade into oblivion soon but I'm afraid,………
this once noble institution (collective bargaining),……..
is now occupied by a cancerous hierarchy that,……….
like those torches, the reassuring warmness of their glow,…..
has long been extinguished.
And they claim their pension funds are inadequate? If they are, no taxpayer funds should be used to bail them out.
He is embracing the Anarchists and Communists/Marxists. Do you really think that a majority of Americans will truly support him?
Normally I complain that our police in Melbourne are way to soft on protestors and crime, but they made me proud today when they threw the idiots out of the city square.

"‘Especially with the unions out here, they can’t claim it’s just a bunch of college kids.’”
The thug and low life labels are still valid however
"By standing with Marxists, Communists…are signalizing their version of “democracy” is more like totalitarianism. That’s a very dangerous flirtation we’re allowing to happen in America."
And when we stop fanning the fear, we'll get back to the issue at hand.
Banks, thru the Fed, stood by the housing inflation, while millions of Americans became grossly indebted, before prices collapsed. Their idea of working with America is their own Socialization of losses back on the victums/taxpayers of their own reuse. The most the biggest have done is knock maybe a few basis points off the interest rates on mortgages that are hopelessly underwater. They have the nerve to sue for the extra 100k homes don't fetch in short sales.
Twenty years ago, we sat across from a banker and together came up with a loan. If things went bad enough, we both shared the loss and renegotiated. Can't do that anymore, against yet another faceless robo-institution of the modern era. Things have changed, folks. The American housewife who continues to make payments on a loan 30% higher than the home's worth, is supposed to "hang on" for Michelle & friends, who will fix things by repealing yet more law. Yeah, "hang on". The bank loved your last check as much as they will the next, and the next. "Here, have a few basis points" they'll say. "You took the risk, and we didn't, because we're the bank and we're protected". That's your America.
Yeah…thanks a heap. Literally.
Abolish all unions. They serve no purpose except to keep corrupt politicians in office–who then support unions.
SOMEONE is paying for those printed Banners. And they ARENT cheap!
You dont see protesters making their own signs. On the other hand I have made my signs while at the Tea Party event or on the way to.
Oh Coggy, what you don't know will really surprise you.
You do realize that the government told the banks to make loans on sub-prime mortgages to put everyone in a house, yet that created a bubble as the people they were putting into houses could not afford them. Then when it crashed, everyone under the program was deep under the water and the banks needed to do something to get that money back, which is why the interests were high on those loans. It was a combination of crony banks, government intervention and selling to the people a too good to be true deal.
Actually, your last paragraph perfectly describes the administration now and the Dems who pushed for these bad loans for banks to do. The way you try to put Conservatives there, is that they would never go for a loan that is more than a person could afford. Pushing for the failure of the loans was all the Dems and liberals who wanted to put people in a position to pay for more than they could afford.
Thanks for proving that you got everything backwards again.
Unions gloating over the Occupy rent-a-mob reminds me of my puppy gloating over his morning accident on the rug. Both are in for a rude awakening.

"The time is near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves."

Thanks, Unions, for stating the obvious and proving that #OccupyLOLstreet is nothing more than astroturf.
Day 1: OccupyWallSt had 700 people
Day 2: OccupyWallSt had 70 people
End of Week 1: OccupyWallSt had 12 people
The Tea Party was consumed by RINOs, the Occupy Wall Street is being consumed by unions….
…. Can we have a legitimate grassroots movement in this country????
In some ways you almost make my point for me.
Politicians have been giving lip service and the "ownership society" meme since the dawn of time. It sold well for politicians of both sides to expand housing. It has worked wonders for administrations of both stripe in the past twenty years. What greater way to juice your re-election, right? But what teeth did the Community Reinvestment Act have, and when exactly did FNMA and FHLMC start buying sub-prime mortgages in this bubble? Am i right you think this amounts to the CRA?
The CRA comes up a lot in political circles. Funny how it never seemed to come up in financial circles. Financial statements on gain/losses, what boosts ROE, etc, didn't seem to carry statements like "if it weren't for the CRA…" Back in 2003-2006, you will find more about "structured finance", which should be a hint for you because that was what was on fire.
As to your comment on the borrowing of liberals vs. conservatives, it didn't matter. A few of us can do an annuity calculation. Great, but in reality, people of both views failed to predict their homes would go down by ~30%.
Shout out Kent……I graduated UD in the mid 60s sure I woudn't recognize Dayton today. Is NCR still in their hugh plant by the UD campus? Are they even still in business?……………Go Flyers.
SAME LOGIC HITLER WOULDN'T HAVE HAD A FOLLOWING WITHOUT BLAMEING BAD TIMES ON JEWS??like obamas legions never let a crisis go to waste,if necessary create one,and lie like a bunch of bastards, to get things going your way??
NCR is still in business, just not in Dayton. Atlanta enticed them with a favorable business climate, and the dim mayor of Dayton at the time wouldn't lift a finger to counter.
Unions are dying from UnAmerican activities….
The history and proof of revolutions is greed, fanned by community organizers whose only contribution to the planet is destruction. I am hoping even self respecting union members are ashamed. Too many generations of the easy life and no context. Pray we survive this assault on America by the 6% who are union thugs.
Of course not, we smelled them a mile away… smells like… ACORN.
THEY ARE THE .99%!!!
or Booberg- ' they can't claim it's just college kids out here..'
no, obviously there are the union thugs, communists, socialists, thieves, molesters, community organizers, hemp-crafters, bums, passerby and party crashers…a marvelous diverse cross-section of the Obama/Democrat base.
