Charge NYC Union Leaders with Negligent Homicide
by Kyle OlsonWell, it turns out that the slow snow removal process in New York City was the act of childish adults protesting budget cuts.
According to the New York Post:
“[Unionized city workers] sent a message to the rest of the city that these particular labor issues are more important,” said City Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Queens), who was visited yesterday by a group of guilt-ridden sanitation workers who confessed the shameless plot.
On Wednesday, MYFOXNY.com reported that two people died, including a new born baby, because emergency crews couldn’t navigate the unplowed streets.
Plain and simple: the union leaders who called for the job action should be charged with negligent homicide. Let them prove that their actions did not result in the unfortunate deaths of these New Yorkers.
For too long, Big Labor has been allowed to hold taxpayers hostage in order to get their way at the bargaining table. And this time, their utter selfishness may have contributed to the deaths of two innocent people.
Jeopardizing the health and safety of innocent New Yorkers in order to make a cheap political statement is reprehensible, and must be denounced in the strongest possible terms.
New York citizens need to know if the willful inaction of municipal employees contributed to nine-hour wait for emergency crews that tragically resulted in the death of a newborn child.
This is America – such behavior cannot be acceptable.
Or are we turning into Germany and France and willing to sit idly by as the actions of Big Labor result in death and chaos?

Charge the leaders and fire the followers. Then contract out all the services to private non union companies and reap huge HUGE savings. Of course it will never happen.
I forgot to mention, shameless and reprehensible!!!
Better not be talking bad about Obama's buds. He'll have Holder on your a$$ faster than a hobo on a ham sandwich.
Some how Hussein and his Posse of Clowns will find a way to cover this up.
You get enough people angry things will change, the only problem is that the unions control most of the media so the issue will die very quick, the woman who lost her baby needs to bring charges if she can get those employees to come forward and be witnesses to the controlled service slowdown.
Love to see them charged but it'll never happen. Corruption is the name of the game people. It's not just in Chicago. Seems to me the good people of New York City need to start a Tea Party of their own. Or maybe it's too late and the rats and cockroaches have already taken over.
All unions, are simply about milking the "employer", who or whatever they may be, for every penny it can steal. Period. Unions pay lip service to the quality of work that their "brothers and sisters" provide to the customer, and lip service to employers who must hire and retain a talented and engaged workforce.
Every time an incident that could be used to demonstrate the greed and overbearing nature of these
UNIONS strangling the public sector comes up, the Republican Party fails to capitalize on it. WHY?
Who is in charge of messaging that continues to allow incidents such as these to pass without tagging
the LEFT with the blame?
We need someone in charge of the R Party with a killer instinct.
Where is OUR Lee Atwater?
.
Kudos to those individuals in the Union that stepped forward to expose this pathetic behavior. Time for those within the Union to start holding their own bosses accountable, or they are just as guilty and part of the problem!
As a New Yorker this is interesting, and as advocacy a good article.
However: " Let them prove that their actions did not result in the unfortunate deaths of these New Yorkers."
Easy, Joe McCarthy, it's innocent until proven guilty, not the other way round.
Imagine if this was an 'evil corporation' that pulled this stunt, or a 'big oil' company, or God-forbid Bush was president. . . No, instead, nothing will happen and the people that died will be forgotten. The union people will get their nice fat overtime checks, and 'business' will go on as normal. The liberals in that state get their power from the unions. They won't do anything but bluster towards the hand that feeds them.
Signs of life !
Perhaps more of my countrymen will wake up to the realization that if you don't prosecute the government-sponsored racketeers and their sponsors, then they have even less of a motivation to stop than the lesser sort.
And why do labor price-fixing cartels exist in America, at all? Maybe the largest, richest labor price-fixing cartel in human history, the teachers' labor unions, are teaching that to your kids right now.
You think?
Will this lead to the union's downfall… It should…
Terminate the contract ala Regan. Bid out the services.
Abolish ALL public employee unions…ASAP, PERIOD. Problem solved!
Did you read the article? Union members already stepped forward and confessed!
They acted stupidly
Maybe some of our republican friends are in the unions back pocket?
you know what…phuck….Joe McCarthy was spot on with the domestic communist hearings!
Knees knocking…NOT!
American corruption was invented in NY and perfected in Chicago.
Still searching for a pair?
Azzman, good point, genius. Let them pay through the nose for their legal defense, too. Go after them relentlessly and BREAK the bank. Kinda reminiscent of tactics used against Sarah Palin, huh? And now, Christine O'Donnell.
To murder? Golly gee I missed that part…
Two words:
PATCO
Ok, well that was only one word! Time to do a Reagan and FIRE THEM ALL!
"Then contract out all the services to private non union companies and reap huge HUGE savings. Of course it will never happen."
Actually, this is EXACTLY how it WILL happen. Maybe not in NY. But watch the plurality of newly Republican State Governors and Legislatures in the next couple years. When the facts come out about how badly the public unions have decimated State budgets, the only reasonable response will be to privatize public services.
They acted
stupidlynegligently. FIFYThat's why his drunken azz was such a laughing stock and universal cliché. Enjoy the revisionism and creative profanity spellings.
it's your tax dollars at work, schmuck!! Having the some of the highest tax rates in the nation you should be very angry that this happened. But, tell you what, go ahead and give the lazy union AssWipes another roundd of bennies and pay raises and then maybe next time it won't be your house that burns down or one of your family members that perish in some avoidable emergency.
No….that was the way the socialist media portrayed him. The whole barrel of apples was rotten with socialism and they took every opportunity to denegrate the man…..same as today azzclown
You go, azzman!
Get rid of the union and privatize the sanitation department, then sue the union for homicide.
Hey foreskin, can't you read? Get the smegma out of your eyes.
I hope you are correct but I won't hold my breath.
Every state should adopt simple legislation aimed at privatizing all services possible. Gov't produces nothing and has zero motivation to suceed. Put a private company in any gov't capacity and profit will generate desire for more production and better quality. Simple free market economics.
murder would be a stretch by any standards…
Much hyperbole here. But you big city boys need to pay heed; this is not the first, nor will it be the last- example of 'slowdowns' or 'blue flu' or other manifestations of disgruntled union employees. And as far as 'Tailgunner Joe' goes, he was a demagogue but wasn't totally wrong on the issues, either.
There was Soviet sponsored infiltration of the government and the entertainment industry. Check the Venona papers sometime…
Buck Ofama !!!!!
They voted for Bloomberg, Hillary Clinton and Cuomo; They deserve what they have !!
Their intentional disregard for public safety, caused by greed and an entitlement mindset is what prevented the sick and dying from getting proper care. That would be willful and deliberate negligence on their part. Let alone the fact that lifting the plows up to necessitate multiple plow runs amounts to theft of public funds, in the form of unnecessary overtime pay. If politicians can go to jail for that, then so can Union bosses and employees.
I see NO ONE on the Horizon…..
Incompetence is not the problem….intentionally damaging America, uplifting our enemies, undermining our allies, and collapsing America is Obama's Crime. UNIONS are his demon spawn-IMPEACHMENT-ARRESTand PROSECTION. Treason's Ultimate Reward expected. We need not tolerate Treachery any longer!
RICO time…!
Valid point. The city could charge them with reckless endangerment. A lesser charge but probably more appropriate and more easily prosecuted. The families of victims could sue on the basis mentioned then they would have to prove their actions did not result in the deaths. Think there is a basis for criminal and civil liability. Bloomberg won't do it because they are trying to reduce the use of "salt" in NYC (joke!). I wonder what Rudy would do?
What if the Muslim Terrorists decided to take advantage of this situation knowing the City will not and cannot respond ?
By the way, Joe McCarthy we severely Demonized but he was TOTALLY CORRECT !
Look, I know someone from NYC…
A LOT of you don't protest your getting your pockets picked clean as long as the Feds kick some back..
That is about to come to a screeching halt…so you may want to adapt your mindset NOW, and avoid the rush…
And you may want to put yourself in the shoes of someone that watched their child die in their arms…and get your humanity back…
Please don't hold your breathe. Two years is a long time to hold your breathe. But unlike the fairy tale world of the federal government, States and municipalities cannot "print" new money. So either they face reality and privatize their services, or (as in NY and Cali) they enter into total bankruptcy. This House of Representatives WILL NOT vote for a State bailout.
Reality is a bitch.
BUST EVERY SINGLE UNION IN THIS COUNTRY! Prosecute this outrageous negligence to the fullest extent of the law. I hope people who have been hurt or lost a loved one because of this treachery will sue the living shit out of NY, naming all the union bosses and BloomAss as co-defendants. It is time to absolutely ruin the careers of these guys. And these ASShats call conservatives greedy and power hungry. If any of these union thugs gets convicted, a few phone calls to a few individuals in the correction facilities will cut their sentences down to size……dirt nap style.
From the dictionary of REAL Americans:
union = 1. a collection of people headed by goons and thugs organized to extort the maximum possible wages, benefits and pensions for doing the minimum possible amount of actual work. 2. a subsidiary of the lunatic-left d-crat socialist party that provides hundreds of millions of dollars in mandatory union dues as campaign contributions in payback for the billions of dollars of taxpayer money the d-crat socialists funnel to the unions. 3. an entity designed to make any company non-competitive and any state, city or local municipality bankrupt. 4. a collection of people run by goons and thugs focused on voter intimidation, unless the voter votes for the d-crat socialist party. 5. a tool of the d-crat socialist party to implement its anti-democracy ideology by preventing workers from having a secret ballot as to whether they want to join a union, and instead subjecting them to what is called "card check" that allows union leader goons and thugs to harass, intimidate and threaten workers to join their union.
Two thoughts:
Aren't unions full of democrats who really care about the little people? (guess not)
I'm looking for Jack McCoy to feature this trial in an upcoming Law & Order. My guess is that the real culprit will be made out to be the mother & father of the baby who plan to blame the righteous union for killing a baby they didn't want and so pull in the big bucks. The union bosses will be shown to have gone out with shovels to help do their part.
Unions are nothing but a parasite entity on the "host" employer.
"As a New Yorker,……."
You know ya really have to sorta have had to experience UNION actions,…
from both sides in order to realize just how,………
plausible such an action can be.
As for Joe McCarthy,…….
guilty people remained innocent because they were not proven guilty, but,….
time and reality,…they sure have a way of bringing out the truth.
Just look at Obama's presidency,…..ay foggy.,…????
It worked, too…
I'm reserving judgement on this one.
Two feet of snow build up in a short period of time? Even if every available plow was working, even if the Union guys who came forward and told us about the situation and every other union worker was working….can anyone PROVE under law those two streets would have been open?
Does anyone find it curious in a city the size of NYC that only TWO people had life threatening emergencies and both just happened to live where responders could not reach them?
….at all….
even get close and hike in, like they do all the time in ski country?
I'm not refuting the story or excusing the unions. But I find the facts thus far, convenient.
What's the population of NYC? What is the size, in miles, of the city and all it's boroughs? How many people WERE reached, were treated, did get care or get taken to a facility that could care for them during one of the biggest snow storms in east coast history?
Like I said……reserving judgment on this one till ALL the facts are in.
NY Government might not go after the union criminally but there are families of dead people that will sue. Hit the union in their pocket, thats where their heart beats anyway.
This is different. If it's as bad as it looks, they blew off millions of people–millions of voters. And those voters are not going to forget. The pressure on Bloomberg to come down really hard on the perpetrators is immense.
I'm sure the fat-necked union thugs who orchestrated this cluster hump couldn't care less about the possible loss of life their antics played. It sure would be great to see them exchanging marital vows in the prison chapel for this!
Palin likes to shoot stuff and her aim is good and she gets press, put her in charge of this.
So we've all seen the front end loader video where the Ford gets beat to hell.
How about watching it again with a soundtrack that puts it into perspective?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCUiubQj3WY
Enjoy!
As sad as these two incidents are, this is just a preview of what we will see when obamacare goes into full swing.
The mayor is in BO's pocket as well as that of the unions. No problem.
If the rats in NYC were cleaned out, it would be a nice place to visit. I'm not talking about the politicos. Wait a minute they are as bad as the real vermin. Yep, include the politicos.
Oh, also, you've jumped the shark there, smarty-pants.
"Easy, Joe McCarthy, it's innocent until proven guilty, not the other way round. "
He's not calling for them to be found guilty, just charged. The legal system will do the rest. You DO know the difference, right? People CHARGED with a crime are still innocent until proven guilty. You've just proved that you are a fool, and didn't bother reading before you started blathering your nonsense.
Add a charge of TERRORISM. They did, on purpose, what Al Queada has been trying to do for years…shut down NY, kill citizens and terrorize the population.
Al Queada IS the Sanitation Dept…
On December 30, 2010, at realetybytes.com, by Ron Reale
Now that we know that the deaths and accidents that immobilized NY was just another purposeful, terrorist act, will we act appropriately? Will the union terrorists be waterboarded, (I HOPE), and sentenced to indefinite terms at Guantanamo?
Why not?
Didn’t they just do what the islamists have been trying to do? Terrorize and paralyze NYC, killing people and causing grievous injuries?
Didn’t they purposely wait until the most damage could be done to their enemy, the American citizens, before they launched their cowardly attack?
If this union is not de-certified, a la Patco, and the leaders jailed, we will deserve what happens when the rest of the corrupt union thugs controlling our government see that they can kill us with impunity.
Government unions should be banned, there are plenty of people that will do the jobs without being treated as royalty.
Vote out any politician, and do not let any through the primary system, that does not vow to kill government unions, as a matter of national and self defense.
They fired the first shot, our modern day, “shot heard round the world”. If we do not engage them, and kill the unions, they will keep killing us.
It’s now or never.

This type of action should be written into the contract as reason to void the entire contract and fire. If it isn't already.
This was the perfect opportunity for the Unions to prove their worth, that they actually -earn- all that money. If they had stepped up and done their jobs, not even above and beyond, simply done what they are paid to do, they could have been the heroes.
Instead they are the villains.
Throw the book at them and use this as a first step toward busting the collectivist stranglehold of the Unions and their thug leaders.
Well, we know for a fact that out in Staten Island, where nothing else was cleaned, they cleaned the street in front of the union leaders house!
As far as only 2 people, we have yet to get the facts as to all the accidents and deaths or injuries.
As a former NY'er, I can tell you that when the trucks run, you can get around. Maybe not the side streets right a way, but the avenues are usable, and medical help can get close.
The fact is, we know they weren't clean BECAUSE THEY DID NOT TRY!
If they were out in force, no one could complain.
This was a terrorist attack, designed to kill and put the people in their place, slaves to the union.
Pay us or die.
De-certify the union, jail the bosses for negligent homicide and manslaughter, dereliction of duty. Civil Rights suits should be brought against them, PERSONALLY. Take their houses and anything wlse they have, they won't need them in jail.

They are party to this. It's called "accessory"(legal term), a person who assists a criminal but is not present at the crime. The crime was the unnecessary death of a newborn child caused by the actions of union leaders(criminals). This case should go to court and the union bosses and their thugs held accountable. However it will not happen. The union bosses will be left unscathed.
Kyle, here's the devils advocate issue: The workers can 'Break rules' of their union leaders if they know something needs to be done, right?
So the leaders will say our union members didnt' use common sense
Union members will say: We were told not to do anything by our bosses
So who's the final target? (I agree it should be union leaders, but a good lawyer could pass the buck on the other category)
Love the definition. Where can I obtain a copy of this dictionary?
BTW, I'm going to borrow your def for my own nefarious use in future posts.
McCarthy was a drunk and became a buffoon- he gave McCarthyism a bad name. But his largely self-induced fall was the perfect excuse for the Left to denigrate, and effectively end, all efforts to expose the very real Communist infiltration of government, media and academia, the poison fruit of which is with us today.
Texas.. the "effort" of trying to clear the streets would make the argument a moot point, but since they only performed selective street cleanups, then the argument stands. There was no effort to make a safe environment for emergency personnel.
Gosh I hate having to confront utter stupidity! There is a BIG difference between murder and Negligent Homicide. These deaths were caused by PURE NEGLIGENCE and the greed and need for power and money.
This is a public issue that was intentionally neglected.
Compare this to the public outrage over BP, who may have under-reported the extent of their oil leak, but that was an accident, no matter what caused the leak in the first place.
In the case of these city workers, there was clearly a malicious and selfish intent that has affected commerce, caused at least one death and paralyzed the city more than it should have.
I prefer to define a public service union as a cancerous sore upon the posterior of the general public. If not quickly removed, it leads to the demise of the host organism.
We will still point out Socialist/Communist/Fascist trolls like yourself. That is all Joe did. God I wish he had succeeded then. We wouldn't have worthless unproductive placeholders like you running around.
fg, they already admitted to a disregard for public safety… so they've actually already confessed to enough to allow for a negligent homicide charge if a case is/was brought up.
I think you're right. I'll doubt we will ever even hear a person's name associated with this decision.
his personal failings- which really were not as bad as advertised- nonetheless allowed the left to marginalize him successfully for decades. But the downfall of the USSR allowed truths expsoed by the Venona transcripts to become public knowledge.
It showed that most, if not all, the warnings of active communist infiltration was indeed true, and some of it far worse than anyone thought. mentioning 'Venona' to a leftist is like a Cross to a vampire- they shrink away from it…
TS, You are absolutely correct. Yet, in all areas where I have worked or lived where there was a history of heavy snowfall, the EMS folks had snow machines, sleds, cross country skis, snow shoes, and the clothing to cover just such an emergency. And this is not the first case of heavy snow in NYC or the last. Maybe they need to acquire such equipment for future winter emergencies.
In a court of law, yes.
In the court of public opinion? That's a whole 'nother story.
I thought this was why we had the Taylor Law?
Thank you real….
THAT'S what I'm talkin about. Let's see some FACTS. Wow….about the union bosses streets. But then Jamie Diamond, CEO of JP Morgan Chase don't do road trips either. Has his own personal jet just like Nanceeee. So, no news and no clean hands re "special privilege" who gets it and who don't. But it does NOT look good when cast against the background of this article.
Also the FACT that when the plows are out they ARE able to clear significant numbers of roads so that people CAN get out and FIRST RESPONDERS can get in. NOTED AND LOGGED.
While it won't meet the legal definition of a terror attack, but it certainly qualifies as EXTORTION… IF THEIR CONTRACT IS UP FOR RENEWAL. Good information to have if we can find out.
I'm a native Texan living in AZ….BOTH OPEN SHOP states and would NEVER LIVE in a union town….EVER. I do see that at one time they served an IMPORTANT role, a time, btw, brought to us by GREEDY PRIVATE CORPORATIONS which, imo, have only grudgingly come around to some extent….they no longer employ 6 year olds, but are now and will always be fully capable of being just as corrupt and oppressive as unions. No clean hands there either.
That said…..I'm having a hard time seeing any benefit to unions EXCEPT in cases where corrupt officials, as in the case of city workers and first responders, law enforcement, etc, or corrupt private company bosses won't pay fair wages or demand too much from too few workers in the name of budget cuts, or things of that nature. I see some unions do protect their workers and their widows and orphans. So I can't toss out the whole idea of having some kind of leverage against corrupt bosses. Kind of a stand off there.
And for sure those people should sue the crap outta them. I don't know if the case will pass legal muster, but that's never stopped anyone from trying. And who knows. It may be a real ball breaker in negotiations, since of course, those suing the union will no doubt sue the city too.
No arguments here Rick. On a side note I just got a job!!!! Income!!!! Yeah!!!! 2011 is looking up for me and mine!
Ahhhhh….sooo this CAN pass legal muster if someone brings suit. Especially if those "selective" streets weren't major arteries to hospitals and for first responders. Good to know. Now we're gettin somewhere.
Did the workers who "confessed" get officially deposed or have they already gone into witness protection, lol!
Yeh……just as the Unions may have "overplayed" their bargaining hand with this stunt if the city gets included in what promises to be at least two big ole lawsuits….EMS better shut up. As you say, this ain't the first snowflake to hit NYC and this ain't the first strike to play havock with first responders.
They would do well to become a hole in the wind for a while. And while they're busy bein invisible, they might consider hittin Ebay for some cheap "snow country" gear…..FAST.
There were also many claims that the plow blades were not at street level, but up a few inches, making more passes of the same street necessary, causing extra overtime pay for the cleanup crews. That's theft of public funds. Those extra hours, added up between all cleanup crews who engaged in "high-plow" antics, as well as lost hours for removing stuck vehicles, lost wages for people still stuck at home, etc. should be added up. Their greed cost far more than the overtime pay they stole.
I remember when we got a new dem mayor in my city. 2nd largest city in NH, and the first winter this tool was in office, the plow trucks got stuck in the garages because the plowblades were on the other side of the lot. The snow removal budget had been pillaged, so things like "hooking up plows to trucks" before a storm was deemed unnecessary. They had to shovel their way to the first plow.
money that was diverted from the winter snow removal budget happened to buy "beautification signs" to make us look like a cleaner city….
From what i read, yes there were some streets that were selectively cleared… (i don't know if it's confirmed or not yet though).
Amen to that.
Believe it or not there are several tea party groups here in NYC. And like salmon at the height of spawning season we keep swimming furiously upstream and as fruitless as it may seem we will die fighting the liberal drones.
Cingratulations! HAPPY NEW YEAR and may you and yours have many, many more!
MY wish for the new year is that all those currently unemployed find work and a better and prosperous 2011.
Thanks Rick and I as well hope everyone finds rewarding and gainful employ. Happy New Year Rick and everyone else here at Bigs.
I've lived in NYC for 25 years and been through many of these storms and Texas I can encourage you to believe what you are reading. (Trust me, I don't say that often.) Because Bloomberg owns a media conglomerate he rarely receives heat and this time he deserves it and more. I have never seen as much plowing in places that don't need it and none in places that were desperate for it. Mothers with young children were housebound because you couldn't move out of your house with a stroller and no transportation to get to a doctor on their own if needed. It was the worst response I've seen in all my years here.
My two cents.
I'm reminded of that heat wave in France. How many died that didn't have to because all the health care workers and ambulance drivers were on vacation?
Unintentional manslaughter. Still bad, but I doubt they thought far enough ahead to realize what their tantrum might mean so I can't quite call it murder.
And is this news being reported nationally? Of course not. Listening to the various radio news sources today (CBS, ABC, NPR), not only is the union connection not being mentioned, but blame is still being assessed at Mayor Bloomberg as the cause of the problem.
Someone needs to get front and center on this nationally. This sort of thing is an absolute disgrace.
Not to mention, we know plows can be rerouted to open paths in times of need. Look at how the president got around last winter when the blizzard hit DC.
Both should be included but it's a cinch that only one of them has money.
Despite all the negative responses, you are correct. However, they should be tried for criminal neglect. Let the courts decide their innocence or guitl.
Negligent Homicide AND Depraved Indifference To Human Life!
Nothing will happen, the Dem Mayor will not bring charges, and the Dem Gov will not do a things and simply let the staus quo continue.
But they will make a lot of noise and ACT like they might do something but in the end nothing will happen.
