Congress Should Abolish ‘Labor’ Day
by Kyle OlsonWhen Congress created Labor Day in the late 1800s, it was to placate an increasingly hostile labor movement. At a time when American workers needed protection from heavy-handed industrial bosses, labor unions made sense.

But with the growing effort by Big Labor to unionize public employees, it’s left its mission of worker protection from dangerous conditions and now has increasingly become a leech on the taxpayers. Public employees hardly need protection from their employer, the government.
If there’s any segment of society that needs protection from the government it’s taxpayers, not their employees.
Big Labor’s legacy today is that of creating pension systems that are continuing to plunge deeper into the red. Some reports indicate the collective debt, just of school employee pensions, is around $1 trillion.
Public employee unions have also created scenarios where the health benefits of their members now cost school districts nearly $24,000 in places like Milwaukee.
And they’ve instituted schemes where teachers receive raises for not dying over the summer. With negotiated “step raises,” increases are based on years of service, not value added to the “company.”
Big Labor is bankrupting government – and we should continue honoring that?
Perhaps even worse, today’s labor leaders are downright hostile to America’s exceptionalism and worse yet, embrace socialist ideals.
AFL-CIO president Rich Trumka is calling for a global financial tax – driving us down the path of one world government.
Former SEIU heavy Andy Stern was fond of invoking Karl Marx’ calling for “workers of the world” to “unite.”
These are not out fathers’ and grandfathers’ labor unions and they do not deserve our admiration.
“Labor Day” ought to be abolished and replaced with a celebration of the American Worker – not just those that are funding the likes of Rich Trumka, Randi Weingarten and Andy Stern, but everyone that is gainfully employed and contributing to society.
The reality is, unionized workers are no longer the ones driving America’s prosperity. Big Labor’s share of the American workforce is the lowest its ever been. And its push to increase government employees – and thus its dues-paying ranks – is only making the problem worse.
Non-unionized small businesses and other segments of society are what stimulate America’s economy – not organized labor.
We should stop honoring a system that is jeopardizing America’s future and begin to embrace what will revive America’s fortunes again: all American workers.
But don’t expect that any time soon. Consider what President Obama said recently:
“We’ve reversed the executive orders of the last administration that were designed to undermine organized labor. And we are going to keep on fighting to pass the Employee Free Choice Act. I don’t give up. I don’t quit. The AFL-CIO does not give up. It does not quit. That is a commitment that I am making to you. Thank you for the commitment that you’ve made to me.”

When JFK signed Executive Order 10988, in 1962, allowing government workers the ability to unionize, he set the coarse for eternal insolvency for the USA, repeal EO #10988.
As a business owner “Labor Day” …is simply another day.
How about we just get rid of the holiday altogether and work today? I sure could have used the extra 9-10 hours on my paycheck this week.
'“Labor Day” ought to be abolished and replaced with a celebration of the American Worker'
Isn't that want Labor Day is? I completely understand the criticisms of Big Labor in this article and agree with them completely, but is it really necessary to abolish a holiday that has become an American tradition just to seemingly spite the Unions? Non-union employees get the day off on Labor Day, too.
Another idiot blabbing about something he knows nothing about. Make no mistake about it, I come here everyday for entertainment not information
I would call you entertainment, but you dont have any entertainment value.
Not to mention, can you prove the article wrong, if not, then what are you talking about.
Back at you!
"…Another idiot blabbing about something he knows nothing about…."
That's funny you should put it that way…
Why do you have to embarrass Jews…Why not simply be "LiberalJackass343" ?
DOING THE MOST FOR THE LEAST
Unions represent only 15% of America's workforce yet the bulk of the previous and the future stimulus money s have gone directly to the unions. Is it any wonder the stimulus money did not work?
Public employee unions represent the greatest conflict of interest we have seen. When these unions get to 'own' their employer as is the case with unions 'donating' to political campaigns, they pollute the negotiating process, leaving the real employers, the tax payers with the bill for all the bad faith contracts negotiated.
END PUBLIC EMPLOYEE UNIONS
Normally, I would say you are an idiot, but, in this case, you are totally right. I mean, seriously people, abolishing Labor Day? Aren't there more important issues to be worrying about? Do you really think taking away a holiday is going to help you win over voters?
Here's an idea, once we balance the budget, abolish the Federal Reserve, secure the borders, abolish birthright citizenship, repeal Obamacare, etc., then maybe we can talk about abolishing Labor Day.
A day that will live in infamy!
Repeal EO#10988
Unions….Obama's "Weapon of Further Economic Mass Destruction"…
The roots of these "weeds" run too deep for "Roundup"….Gonna need a shovel and a strong back …
Have a nice day off …"golden goose killers"
"Another idiot blabbing about something he knows nothing about." – Typical Leftist response. The plain English translation is "This guy busted us, so I'm going to attempt to use ridicule as a diversion."
Also; yours was a poorly constructed sentance. I thought you leftists were supposed to be educated!
"Big Labor is bankrupting government – and we should continue honoring that?
The author just summed that up quite succinctly.
Every unemployed worker out there needs to thank the unions and their demorat puppets in Congress for driving jobs out of this country. Someday we'll all hope for a job flipping burgers.
And liberal_Jew343, if your life is so miserable that you come here for entertainment, may I suggest you go work for Al Qaeda. You could feel so good about yourself you'll want to blow yourself up.
Brilliant. Abolish public unions today!
No….you can actually go ahead and say he's an idiot. After all, the piece is mostly about the redundancy of public sector unions and the damage being done to this country by the rest of them. Labor Day itself is only mentioned twice.
I have posted this, going back almost a year ago here (probably last Labor Day) but it bears repeating. It is not a quote from someone else, simply my interpretation and opinion of all the "good" Unions have done for America.
History repeats itself.
Unions are nothing but top heavy, front loaded Ponzi Schemes (the same as Social Security, but I'll leave that for another rant).
Look back in history, at the labor Movement, Organized Labor, and the Unions.
It is the Legacy Costs that bankrupt the "scheme". They cannot be maintained.
Acting in concert, Big Labor, and the Unions, forced Companies to agree to unachievable goals in the future, all in the name of "Collective Bargaining."
Unions broke the Railroad Industry in the 1960's
Unions broke the Steel Industry in the 1970's.
Unions broke the Trucking Industry in the 1980's.
Unions broke the Airline Industry in the 1990's.
Unions broke the Auto Industry in the 2000's.
Now the Unions will break the Government of the United States.
This isn't my biased opinion, it is history, staring US right in the face.
I am not for abolishing Labor Day for purely selfish reasons. Job security.
We have a long weekend and lots of idiots drinking and doing stupid things that get them injured. Then there is always the family reunion with demented Aunt Edna's potato salad that has been let out for 12 hours. Food poisoning for the masses!
It allows me to work on a holiday instead of being at home with my family. It allows me to participate in a health care system that will reimburse me or about 40% of what is billed (even gonna be better under Barry-Bop care). I get to deal with discourteous, drug-seekers, who will lie about what is srong with them, and of course have the opportunity to get something worse than Aunt Edna's induced food poisoning….Hep C, AIDS, etc.
But I gladly go do this for job security. For if I did not go to work I would not get a pay check which allows me to pay taxes so that illegal aliens and people who are on disability for no real reason can keep coming to see me.
Thank you Barry-Bop for your full understanding of the system. I would not have it any other way.
"Unions….Obama's "Weapon of Further Economic Destruction"… "
With all due respect HPD, I'm taking the liberty to re-phrase your statement.
Unions….One of Soros/Obama's 'Weapons of Mass Destruction'
I loved your line about Aunt Edna's 'tater salad.
Soooooo, you've met my Aunt too?
A taxpayers union… that's what we need!
The 3% of the population paying 50% of the taxes should move to the cayman islands.
Those riding in the cart now out number those pulling. Every state now faces financial melt-down from union contracts of their public employees. The federal work force now exceeds the average pay of the private sector by half again, $123,000.00 vs. $60,000.00. with accompanying benefits far above what is available in the private sector. Faced with insolvency, the unions still insist that those contracts be honored. Where do these brain-dead individuals think the money is coming from? We as a nation are on the edge of a cliff, we are clinging to the last cragg trying not to fall, yet unions are pushing from behind demanding that we fall so they can survive. If this is not corrected we will be facing open rebellion.
The Unions initially tried to get FDR to allow gov't employees to unionize. HE even realized that that would be too much power being granted to the Union Leader Thugs and said NO.
YEP …Get rid of Labor Day and ALL of the Unions in the USA. All it takes is the PRESIDENT to repeal an Executive Order …Reagan should have done it. Maybe we can get the next Conservative President to do it. Sure, the Unions will challenge it in the courts …so be it.
Don't forget us out West, Jose and Carlos getting into a gunfight at someone's (probably an infant or small child) birthday party.
Come up to the Midwest and lets celebrate the exodus of nearly all manufacturing jobs. Also, the huge increase in food stamp recipients. But Washington can not figure out how to fix the problem, just look at why it worked back then and re-vert back to that .
Also; yours was a poorly constructed sentance. I thought you leftists were supposed to be educated!
sentance = sentence
We should have a celebrate CAPITALISM DAY! We could run all MEDIA to celebrate the contributions of the Capitalists have had on our society. You know the basic things like cars, rails, aviation, technology, healthcare, farming, industry and oh let's not forget… ALL THE JOBS FOR WORKERS that allow their very existence in the cities bult by Capitalists across the nation.
Ah yes!
Visions of the Americana Holiday Deluxe.
The funniest thing I ever saw, was back when I lived in Texas.
I was in Poteet, Texas, driving through the Jose and Carlos side of town. The streets were dirt. There in a backyard, were a half dozen fellers, sitting around a picnic table drinking beers. They had beer coolers scattered nearby. What's so funny about that you ask?
There was an orange extension cord leading to the house, and they had a window unit air conditioner sitting on the picnic table……………..
Yes, but the title of the article is "Congress Should Abolish 'Labor' Day," so excuse me for thinking that's what the article was about. If the article was titled "Public Sector Unions Suck," I would say great article. But calling for the abolition of Labor Day with all of the serious issues going on in the country is just silly.
So they were not complete leeches on the system. A complete leech would have run the extension cord to his neighbor's house.
Funny though!

I dunno for sure.
Although I was branded a racist and a bigot going back to day one here, I know what I personally believe. Any man that can work outside when it is 110 degrees, has nothing but my respect.
I've never faulted any human being for wanting a better life. I do fault the methods they use to get it. Leeching off of US, is not good.

Thanks Kyle Olson for the timely article.
President Obama's comment terrifies me, because I now understand the implications of it.
I am from Louisiana and we are a "right to work" state. I still don't totally understand what that actually means, but the more I learn about certain other states and the violent, thuggish, illegal and un-american state of affairs and intimidation that exists, I can't believe that I have lived in such a protected cocoon all of these years. I am very grateful for the strength and foresight of the people who made this possible for me.
To be able to just get a job and keep all of the money I make (after taxes) and not have to go on strike, and be a part of a communistic group, is really quite fantastic. To not have to know that my money is going to Socialism/Communism, and that there is nothing I can do about it, if I want a job. Although the American way, would be to move to a state in which people have a "right to work" unimpeded by thuggary.
Thanks for your article.
I'd like the day to be called "Honoring the American Excpeptionalism of employees and business owners." H.A.E.E.B.O. Day. The acronym is kind of lame though
Fair point. I would differ only to the extent that abolishing Labor Day is "not a priority", rather than "silly". In my honest opinion, abolishing Labor Day would send a powerful message that unionization is no longer relevant and is nothing to be glorified.
Your general point is accepted, though: We have far bigger fish to fry, at the moment.
Even a blind hog will find an acorn on occasion. Good info.
**In their modern form these are the same bunch of vampires who, in direct opposition to the will of nearly all Americans, keep the borders open to Mexican and other invaders in to this country AND continue to claim there is a "labor shortage" to continue the H1B program for their OWN desires for cheap labor.
So true. Bill Gates and others in the tech industries are the worst about this. They import foreign workers by the truck load and then complain about American students not pursuing advanced degrees in science and technology. Why would they when they know they will just be sold out by the industries they hope to work for.
And, will someone please explain to my why we are allowing ANY immigration into this country when we have millions of unemployed Americans? Why continue to allow hundreds of thousands of mostly unskilled foreigners to come into this country legally and compete with American workers for non-existent jobs?
Labor Day and how is Obama starting out the day,……..
He just went on the "View" but before he came on,……
they played a tape of his Inauguration swearing in,…….
Let's rekindle the fire of those golden days of January 2009.
It is starting folks,….. the major Dem. / MSM offensive
He also will start to unleash all those unspent stimulus billions
there will be someone working on every bridge in the country
I sure hope there is at least one Republican astute enough to ask
"why didn't we start on all these infrastructure jobs a year ago,……..?"
do ya think maybe a few homes might not have been foreclosed there BOY.
Agreed.
I saw first hand, through my father's career, what was going on in the railroad industry in the 60's. The unions didn't "break" the railroads, they unintentionally helped bring about the changes in management philosophy that led them to reorganize, become more efficient, and eventually become resurgent employers again.
So its hard for me today, even as conservative, to be upset with unions where they do perform a service needed in private industry to protect the individual.
However, having seen both sides of the labor/management world, I do have a problem with labor managers today and their socialist agenda that fosters a crybaby mentality in the workforce and and keeps their rank and file beholden to them.
let me axe you a kwestion…..what would JIMMY HOFFA say????
You're just a lowly voice in the foot soldier fascist hierarchy …with nowhere else to go.
Every time you bring up 10988 I'll give you an upding, Stan. Couldn't agree more: Government employees should not be allowed to unionize. Furthermore, there should be a national Right to Work law.
How many of you who worked in the private sector all your life ever were able to celebrate each and every national holiday or received the pay that unions receive should they have to work on one of those days? Think about it carefully. We paid others to enjoy them, but how many of us were free to enjoy a day of R & R? More than likely, many of those days were spent at work trying to make a better life for yourself and your family.
So let us replace the wrongs of the past,………
with new ones today there zero.
As for the middle class and how it came about,…ya really should know that,………
unions played a roll yes,…..
but the main thrust for the creation of this class was and will always be,……
INDIVIDUAL EFFORT.
Right. But listen to the neocons here (only ones allowed to post articles at these boards) tell you about the "free market" (most of the authors here are also paid members of a "think tank" or some tenured position in a government paid school but they just LOVE to preach about that "free market." LOL! )
Mike Savage is a bit of a neocon but he at least acknowledges "BORDERS, LANGUAGE, CULTURE."
Dammit Cowboy, there you go with that fact thingy again.
You make some very valid, convincing points, but I respectfully disagree.
"The unions didn't "break" the railroads, they unintentionally helped bring about the changes in management philosophy that led them to reorganize, become more efficient, and eventually become resurgent employers again."
The keyword in your sentence is "unintentionally".
Management had no choice but to adapt to survive.
It wasn't until the railroads were totally broke, bankrupted, and the legacy costs wiped out, that people statred to step in and take a position. Phillip Anschutz was first, followed by Warren Buffet.
I wholeheartedly agree with your last paragraph.
3 Holidays – July 4th, Memorial Day, and Christmas…all others can be done away with….
Corporations and lawyers are socialists. Rent seeking crony capitalists at best.
Free enterprise, personal liberty, and less government is all we need.
I should take the stance of the Obama Administration.
Facts? We don't need no steenking facts!
They act like monkey's in a cage.
They keep throwing shit up in the air, just to see where it lands.
If they were smart, they'd throw some against the wall, and try to get some to stick………..
Don't fergit rhamadahm,
Sorry, bad joke, I'll sit in the corner and be quiet now. . . . really. . . . sorry. . . .
*Too much honey on my toast, either that or the bloody mary's, dunno which. . . . .
I'd respectfully disagree.
July Fourth.
Veterans Day.
Christmas.
Careful, you will get red-flagged speaking like that like I have.
Indeed, even Mussolini said fascism is more properly "corporatism" but don't try telling that to the neocons here who envision themselves being taken on as some 3rd tier wonk at Cato or something. To them it is all the "free market" regardless if it is corporatism (which fails to meet the definition of free markets but they don't care since corporations pays their salaries – rather a lot like the scientists pushing "global warming." http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Cato_I... )
Robert Gibbs was recently asked by a reporter why the White House couldn't get its facts straight. He replied "It's just hard, sometimes, to get the paper to feed into that machine thingy correctly. We're going to resolve that issue just as soon as we figure out the umbrella."
It needs repeating, until maybe it sinks in. So many of our budgetary problems can be traced to EO#10988, it’s simply insane.
What always amuses me is that unions, journalists and "intellectuals" are the ones that always champion the Socialist "workers' paradise" idea and their political leaders ride to power on the back of that support. Then – when the political leaders have achieved absolute power and control – they start eliminating all those they see as a threat…..starting with the union leaders, the journalists and the intellectuals.
Don't forget Crime Spree day – MLK Day. Celebrated every day on MLK boulevard in your city….and at McDonalds.
Question: It is my understanding,,,which could be wrong,,,that Executive Orders do not have permanence unless ratified by congressional action. Was this ever done by congress in this case, and if not could a simple Executive Order reverse it?
Well, if we must celebrate Ramadam-adingdong, then we MUST celebrate Kwansa.
I agree unions are out of control, but i think it would be better if some heavy, heavy controls were put on unions, they are more a business now than anything.
Re-name the day appropopriately: Marxist Workers of the World Unite Day,,,,or better still name it for what it is: "Thank God summer is over and the kids are back in school day"
As a conservative Jew that wants to keep the fruits of my labor I've always been embarrassed by the liberal collectivists of my faith that believe it's OK to take from productive members of society and give to those that don't produce. I cringe every time I see a post from that socialist Jackass.
No MLK Day? Color me surprised that conservatives would want to get rid of that.
"The sting in ridicule is the truth." So, where was your demonstrable truth? I'm not defending liberal Jew 343; he/she/it is probably not even a Jew. But wild claims should be met with facts (which means TRUTH) not opinions.
Here's one: The Obama State Department just self-reported our country to the U. N. for human rights violations for failure to pass Card Check, which surely you know would allow union supervisors to look over your shoulder as you vote whether or not to form a union. How very fair and democratic! So truly demonstrative of how deeply the AFL-CIO and SEIU — to whom Obama promised passage of Card Check — have their claws sunk into Obama's carcass.
For those interested, and it concerns us all as Americans:

We would need at least a 2/3 vote by congress to negate executive orders. That will be difficult to do until the current congress has been replaced or in 2012 when we have a conservative president and/or congress. These sources also show what good, old Billy Clinton did to our Republic. Do read carefully, "Executive Orders
A Blueprint for Dictatorship?"
Color you surprised?
You left wing lunatic fringe types always had trouble calling a spade a spade.

Just for good measure, Obama also reported the State of Arizona to the World Court for human rights violations. Example given? The attempt to enforce duly enacted Federal law that the U. S. government won't. Yes, our president is a true Patriot! (For those who didn't catch the sarcasm) NOT!
To those of you who think the Labor Day column by Olsen is frivolous, buy your tickets and book your hotels now for a trip to the Hague to defend your freedom to work without union interference if you choose and the rights of your fellow citizens in Arizona (or even your own state) before the World Court. The globalists love people like you who are so eager to post you miss the point. For Pete's sake, can't some of you morons read beyond the text on the page and think before you write instead of engaging in silly tit for tat?

Oh_Brother: I'm assuming your comment was supposed to be in response to someone else, rather than me. Otherwise, I don't see the relevance.
I think, along with kwanza, we should invent a few holidays.
For Obama, we should have;
1. Report your neighbor to the authorities Day
2. Burn a Flag Day
3. Blame Bush Day
4. Raise Taxes Day
5. Complain and you'll be shot Day
6. Give Iowa or Utah to the Chinese Day
7. Obama Vacation # 147 Day
8. Arbor Day (I just thought this one was really stupid)
9. Bring your child to the unemployment line Day
10. Burn Glenn Beck in Effigy Day
The real message from the November election is simple. Obama RESIGN NOW.
what would JIMMY HOFFA say???? "Who elected the Kenyan?" Just saying
Lets face it: The Unions, socialists, dictators everywhere, obama, soros, hugo, and Liberal Democrats are all in the same Club: The one where we work our tails off, and they take our money to Rule over U.S. and steal our Freedoms using our own Constituton and our sense of fairness and tolerance.- –
-STAND UP AND SAY NO! Remember them walking up the steps of the White House to exempt themselves from the same ObamaCare that was forced on U.S!
Bust Unions. They are an arm of Radical Democrats and socialists! They are pro Amnesty to enlarge their socialist Army, to pack America with UN-SCREENED, ILLEGAL, dangerous slaves that smuggle Terrorists into America, and carry drug resistant TB!
Illegals drain our Health,Educ, Welfare systems that were meant for our own needy US CITIZENS! Plus they're HERE ILLEGALLY! What about those who have APPLIED LEGALLY? Obama needs Unions & Illegals, & socialized zealots, & Radical Dems and voter fraud to win elections! He can't win any other way!
His first step was to have Eric Holder stop the PURGING process of ALL OF THOSE ACORN FRAUDULANT VOTES FROM LAST ELECTION! So all those Dem votes roll on! Can anyone investigate?
I second StanH.
For anybody that wants to better understand "unions" consider the following:
From the dictionary of REAL Americans: union = 1. a collection of goons and thugs organized to extort the maximum possible wages, benefits and pensions for doing the minimum possible amount of actual work. 2. a subsidiary of the lunatic-left d-crat socialist party that provides hundreds of millions of dollars in mandatory union dues as campaign contributions in payback for the billions of dollars of taxpayer money the d-crat socialists funnel to the unions. 3. an entity designed to make any company non-competitive and any state, city or local municipality bankrupt. 4. a collection of goons and thugs focused on voter intimidation, unless the voter votes for the d-crat socialist party. 5. a tool of the d-crat socialist party to implement its anti-democracy ideology by preventing workers from having a secret ballot as to whether they want to join a union, and instead subjecting them to what is called "card check" that allows union goons and thugs to harass, intimidate and threaten workers to join their union.
Take away obama's socialist support and he falls. I mean Unions, pro-amnesty people, his source of funding from robbing our U.S.Treasury!
Investigate his own Illegal actions such as suing one of his own States! Investigate obama, & Clinton reporting U.S. to the anti-American United Nations! Prosecute the Obama Admin for High Crimes, Abuse of Power, Failure to Uphold OATH of office ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION! To me this is treason.
INVESTIGATE ERIC HOLDR INCLUDING every piece of paper that he has signed. I don't know who investigates a corrupt Dept of Justice, but there must be a designated person or Dept. to do that AND THEY SHOULD COME FORWARD NOW WITH "show cause" papers!!
Yes, by all means, discontinue labor day because of what this guy says. I'm sitting on the couch, watching TV and eating barbecue potato chips while I get ready to head for the beach on one my few paid holidays. But I would be more than glad to give it up just to prove this guy "Kyle" right. I would much rather be at the factory, running machinery in 95 degree heat, in order to make a point to the ever-shrinking Breitbart readership about how unions are controlling our nation and sending it to hell in a handcar. Here's a suggestion for his next crusade: eliminate Martin Luther King Day because, contrary to what Glenn Beck says, he was really a amoral communist mercenary, who never met an "N" he didn't like. Yeah, sign me up so I can give up one of my other paid holidays.
You are neither informative NOR entertaining.
More power to you JeffersonAdams!

Hard working guy who will kill anyone who tries to take away my holidays.
Have a nice day (off)
We have a day off to celebrate labor but not one to celebrate liberty.
JULY 4th.
I think there is a place for unions, but I do think their size needs to be curtailed. There is no excuse for having a national union like the UAW that is larger by itself than any of the companies that employ it. No one likes seeing corporate monopolies, so why does anyone think it's a good idea to allow unions to form monopolies?
I'm all in favor of having a couple of 3-day weekends in our warmer seasons. They give you the perfect opportunity to work on minor DIY projects around the house that would make a 2-day weekend feel like working double-time.
My guess it would take an act of congress, at this point this monstrosity is firmly entrenched. If they were to get it through a congress, Barry would veto it. This would have to be a process, and several election cycles. But, if we intend to constrain the federal govt. we must think and act deliberately, repealing EO#10988, would be a great start, and would strike a mighty blow at the heart of statist Washington.
Savage is the only radio host I find interesting. I used to listen to Limbaugh until I realized that he just repeats himself over and over and all of his talking points can be found by scanning the front page of the Drudge Report for 30 seconds. Savage is the only host who actually seems to care about the plight of us peons and who realizes that conservatism is about more than some corporation's profit margin.
Neocon uber-capitalist don't seem to realize that their policies are dooming them to future irrelevance. Unrestricted capitalism leads to a concentration of wealth in the hands of a privileged few and the destruction of the middle class. The financial pressure on the diminishing middle class (which has always been the backbone of the GOP) is causing a decrease in the middle class birthrate. This means that, in the future, most voters will be from welfare-state families, particularly those from South of the border.
