Democrats Deceived Public in Claiming Public School Bailout was Deficit Neutral
by Kyle OlsonSenate Democrats were set to vote on a $10 billion bailout for public schools, claiming all along the measure was “paid for with spending cuts.” When the Congressional Budget Office revealed it was going to add $5 billion to the deficit, the vote was delayed until Wednesday.
The National Education Association, the biggest beneficiary of the legislation, perpetuated the lie on its website. The NEA stands to gain about $36 million in dues dollars.
While news reports indicate it could come up again Wednesday, here’s to hoping it won’t see the light of day again.
Americans can ill afford to continue adding to the deficit for a jobs plan that does little for the future and continues funding the status quo. Public education has become little more than a public works project, throwing good money after bad.
Democrats in Washington are throwing a bone to the teachers unions – a very expensive bone at that – and it should continue to be opposed by sensible Senators from both parties.
Senate Democrats, though, acknowledge this is a bump in the road. And they’ll continue putting us further in debt however they see fit. From The Morning Call:
If the Senate can’t get it passed, U.S. Sen. Bob Casey said the chamber would try again until it does.
“It’s likely we’ll have to keep going back to the drawing board and going back to a different way to pass it,” Casey said. Republicans have held it up over concerns about federal spending amid high deficits.
But even if the Senate does get it passed before adjourning for its August recess, the House, which has already left, still needs to take up the bill when it returns in mid-September.
The school year, of course, starts prior to when the House could possibly vote on this, so school personnel decisions would have already been finalized. So this is little more than a gift to the National Education Association and American Federation of Teachers – financed with money from our children.
Taxpayers should continue fighting against this type of reckless spending with everything we’ve got and force government to live within its means, just as American families have to.

A) Just like government, Unions practice unsustainable economics. Stop bailing them out with our tax dollars.

Spending and quality education do not correlate. Here in Georgia, the city of Atlanta spends the most per student of any other school system and has the poorest quality of education. In fact, it is so bad that 109 teachers and administrators are suspected of cheating on the CRCT.

I'm so sick of the "It's for the students" garbage. Enrollment has been stable for decades but, the number of education employees has tripled. SO, just WHO is it that needs all that money , again?
More employees, more dues, less work for them to do.

Missouri today is voting on Prop C to take away the mandate for purchasing Obamacare insurance. Arizona is going ahead with SB 1070.
The problem lies with the debt burden we have accumulated along with unfunded mandated entitlements for government and Union members.
A lot of people are gonna be pissed off when their pensions are deleted off the public doles once Obama is eliminated. But the rest of us will be rejoicing.

Got my education in classrooms with 30 students. No tolerance for disrespect or laziness. Corporal punishment, too. And I can name and spell every state in the union. I can balance a checkbook and can recite the Pledge of Allegiance and know the actuals words to our National Anthem! How many kids today can do that? I could go on and on….
Speaking with an ins. claims person today (who spoke fluent English without any accent) to get an address. When she came to telling me the state…she said," I'm not sure….it's either 1L or IL…is that a state?" I rest my case.

You've heard them – It's all the fault of the tax cuts that they don't have enough money. How much would you bet that even without the tax cuts, they still couldn't pay for anything?
We won't see a reversal in our lifetimes. That much accumulated debt doesn't just go away. And it will get extremely ugly when the promised goodies that have been looted from us start to get taken away.

Ever since January of 09, with the first Obama stimulus, has this administration passed any bills that were deficit neutral at all. It seems like they only ones they are fooling at this point are themselves, since if they believe it to be deficit neutral then that means it should be. Its just too bad we are currently being run by the most economicly challenged administraion is this countries history.

I propose a new rule. Whenever we are forced to debate a liberal, if they bring up the, "It's for a victim group!" argument or the "You just hate this victim group" argument, we immediately end the debate and walk away. Yes, but to see where the banking regime's over reach of State Rights came from you'll have to look to the Republicans. To prevent State Rights from federal influence in health insurance, you'll also have to be careful with the Republicans. They were the ones who proposed blurring the lines nationally and letting these businesses set up shop where they would inevitably profit most by providing least. The tag line was that more insurers would compete for your health plan and drive the price down. The reality would have been like credit cards, where they all went to weakly regulated states, where they got away with the most, where they got bigger and raised prices and fees….and let you come to them.
Unless you are a shareholder, you don't matter. Too many of them still believe there's no such thing as too big, too powerful, or too influential.

Of course! We all know stealing is OK provided you can get the majority of your neighbors to agree that theft is OK and that you are going to use the money you have stolen to help children, old people and the needy. Or in other words, if you do it through the federal government, claim it is in a good cause, and call it Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security.

I propose a new party: constitutional conservatives. We will combine the fiscal sense shared by both conservatives and libertarians (though not necessarily by republicans) with the libertarians' emphasis on personal liberty and the conservatives' strong position on national defense. The religious will be welcome, but not welcome to thrust their religious agenda to the forefront of the debate. It will be like the Tea Party, but more formal.

I have no problem with controlling spin, that's what Obama was doing when he had summers, and other make appearances. It's just that some of the tea party goers forget that both PARTIES try to "control" the media. That's why it's up too the view to understand that most of the people in prime time news hours, FOX MSNBC, maybe CNN are giving OPINIONATED news. It's up to the viewer to research and make sure the information is correct. Most of the time it all spin.
So I have no problem I just found it hypocritical, like Obama was the only president to try in control the media, he was not the first nor will he be the last.
