Progressives Behind New Michigan ‘Tea Party’
by Kyle OlsonYou have to live in Michigan and pay attention to the political news to understand how obnoxious the Michigan Democratic Party and its chairman Mark Brewer really are. While we all expect such behavior from hyper-partisan outfits, Brewer gives it a whole new meaning.
He was behind the famous “sleeping justice” ads – photos of a now-former Michigan Supreme Court justice allegedly sleeping during a hearing. He has now supposedly is putting up money for similar “evidence” against another conservative justice.
So it comes as no surprise that the entrance of a “new” political party in Michigan, The Tea Party, might have Democratic Party fingerprints all over it.
For a better part of the last decade, Michigan has been in the true-blue column. It was so hopeless in 2008 the McCain campaign actually pulled out of Michigan many weeks before Election Day.
And this year, given displeasure with Obama, the Democratic Congress and more so Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Republicans’ prospects look pretty good.
So leave it to Mark Brewer and the Democratic Party to pull out all the stops in their cynical ploy to cling to power.
OutsideLansing.com brings news that paid petition circulators are collecting signatures to create ‘The Tea Party.’ According to site proprietor Chet Zarko, the paid circulators have ties to the Democratic Party.
Gee, what a shock.
True Tea Party leaders have no knowledge of such an effort, which makes one think the stench wafting from the left side of the political spectrum is that of a rat.
Zarko’s follow-up research finds that the Soros-connected “Progressive Campaigns Inc.” is behind the signature gathering.
Situations like this were bound to happen, given the outrage seen in Americans today and the unhappiness with the Obama administration. But to see such a cynical campaign in the offing is no surprise, give the left appears to be behind it.

the Tea Party phenomenon is freaking out the Left…
Because it is amorphous- no titular 'leader' so to speak- it is impervious to the Alinsky playbook of attack, ridicule, marginalize. They have at Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin but they are results- not the cause- of the movement.
Their minions in the State Controlled Media carry the water for them and attack- but they single out about seventy million US citizens. Not a particularly good ploy if one hopes to capture 'hearts and minds'.
So, lets just create our own Tea Party. Didn't they just try a 'Coffee Party' that didn't go anywhere? This is slippery and evil- and will not pass the sniff test. After all, a turd is STILL a turd…

These Democrats will stop at nothing to remain in power. Next thing you know they will be bulldozing their own cities so the Michigan Democrats can create jobs while removing the stench and decay that is the legacy of their own failed policies. Whoops… I guess they are doing that already.
I have a simple question:
To an outside observer, it seems like the answer is no. In their candidates, they approve of, put up with and even defend lying, bribery, cheating, perjury, sexual misconduct, really almost anything short of murder. And in the Clinton administration, there were even some questions about that.
So- is this sad and shameful apathy to such terrible, rampant corruption in their candidates and politicians the face of the modern Democrat party?
If so, I'm sure John F. Kennedy would be very, very sad.
Michigan hasn't "gone UAW." It INVENTED "going UAW." Believe me–I lived there for 20 years. I even saw GM's infamous "job bank" in (in)action.

The MI Dems are obviously doing this to try to split the Republican vote in November. Even though these are leftists behind this, they will probably pretend to be conservative to fool voters. They will then try to suck votes away from the Repub candidiates. The way to combat this is to expose them to the light of day. It will be hard in MI as the papers are probably all left leaning, but a massive campaign of calling radio shows, writing on blogs and news website comment sections, letters to the editors of newspapers, and possibly telephone messages will probably work to get the word out. Also, all Teaparty members should be made aware.

just to clarify, this is my understanding of how the "repayment" worked. $50B in TARP money was given to GM and another $13.5B to GMAC. of that $50B, about $7B was in the form of a loan and another $13B was placed in escrow to be used in the worst case scenario. apparently the situation does not appear to be the "worst case scenario", so GM used that reserve cash in escrow to pay off the loan. either way you slice it, taxpayers are still on the hook for $43B, but now GM doesn't have to pay interest on any of it. and now instead of $13B in reserve, they are down to $6B.
Detroit is NOT Michigan. It is in the far southeast corner of the state. The rest of the state is quite beautiful. I enjoyed living there for 20 years and still miss it (though not the politics).
I think that only applies to people who pose as military or soldiers who accept awards they did not earn. Blumenthal was in the armed services during the Vietnam War; but his claim of combat duty doesn't seem to fit this law's requirements. Besides, he's a pretty good lawyer, so I think he knew just how far he could push the lie.

Jefferson wrote that all men were created equal while holding slaves (by the way, Washington freed his slaves when he died while Jefferson didn't). Jefferson also authored the Louisiana Purchase, which many thought violated the Constitution when he did it. James Buchanan refused to do anything about South Carolina's succession when strong action could have prevented the Civil War (at least Jackson accomplished this AND paid off the national debt). Hayes won the Presidency through the bribary of southern states and brought forth segregation and Jim Crowism. Wilson stepped into World War I only to use it as an excuse for world government and Roosevelt brought about internment camps and the prolongation of the Great Depression.

But, If we do not see a substantial improvement in employment by 2012, I believe Michigan will be back in the Red for some time to come.

I worked for two GM suppliers (neither were tier 1, btw).
Both went belly-up, mostly because GM didn't honor contracts, or finagled their way out of them.

Alas, my command of Continental Congressional history is limited, but I seem to recall a legitimate debate over Federalism between honorable political adversaries which was finally put to rest in the creation of the Constitution of the United States Of America–the greatest document other than the Ten Commandments ever written by Man. Heres a little history lesson for you…
Having grown up on the SW side (near Cadillac Clark plant) I remember EXACTLY WHEN Detroit started its downturn, it was the summer of 1967 and the riots.
Jerome Cavanagh was mayor. During the riots black detroiters went and tried to burn down half the damn city, then over the next 2 yrs NOTHING WAS DONE, btw Cavanagh was a DEMOCRAT.
Next, Detroit in its wisdom elected Roman Gribbs, Not the worst choice but a pisswilly all the same, Again NOTHING WAS DONE. Why? because when ever anything was tried all efforts were rejected, btw Gribbs was a 1 term REPUBLICAN.
Next comes Coleman Young, the man who was going to "FIX" Detroit, well he sure did he spearheaded 2 major projects during his tenure… the People Mover and the Ren Cen, the two combined to cost OVER 550 million dollars… thats $550,000,000.00. A whole lot of money for a lot of nothing and the people of Detroit elected this IDIOT 5 TIMES, and he DID NOTHING. He LET Downtown deteriorate, he LET the neighborhoods deteriorate, HE DROVE BUSINESS from the city, he allowed the school system to become what it is today, raped the police dept. to the point that the city became MURDER CAPITAL of the WORLD in the mid-70s, all the while RAPING THE CITIES TEASURY for his OWN ENDS. Yet still NOTHING WAS DONE, btw he was a DEMOCRAT.
Then came Dennis Archer, this man tried very hard to do what needed to be done and people hated him, but finally there was progress being made to teardown some of the buildings that burned in 1967, business started to return to the city, minor improvements to the schools and roads. Things started to improve, then the city council desided he was doing the job too well and launched a recall on him, goodbye Mr. Archer. btw he was a DEMOCRAT. (though you wouldn't know that from his actions)
Then comes the last elected mayor… "The HIPHOP MAYOR". Kwame Kilpatrick and all I can say to that one was DUH and double DUH. he was going to change the face of Detroit and he did… he put CLOWN MAKEUP ON IT and made the city an even BIGGER LAUGHING STOCK THEN IT ALREADY WAS> Yeah he got Ford Field built and several minor projects as well, but he also was RAPING THE CITY. But really NOTHING WAS DONE, btw he was a DEMOCRAT.
Since 1962, thats 48 yrs for those of you that attended a DPS, every mayor except 1 has been a DEMOCRAT, DUH
Your city is taking its last gasps, but its not hopeless, please I beg finally realize the democratic party has done NOTHING FOR YOU or YOUR CITY in nearly half a century, quit whining and make a stand, try the GOP they can't do any worse then the Dems have.

Will,Will,Will!- Leveling Detroit is a good first step, and already underway. But there is a lot of real estate out there that is still occupied by good people and well worth saving. It wasn't so very long ago that Gov. Engler had us well on the road to prosperity and fiscal sanity.
Anyhow- the Indians are BUYING Michigan back, one casino at a time.
