According to the latest LM-2 financial report filed with the federal Department of Labor, Stern’s 2009 compensation totaled $306,388. By comparison, the “Executive Secretary to the President,” Doris Butler, received a paltry $48,666.
Another strong proponent of Marxist principles – in fact, the co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America – SEIU Executive Vice President Eliseo Medina took home a cool $242,286. Fellow frequent White House visitor and SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger? $252,724.
Perhaps SEIU’s new motto should be: “Socialism For Thee, Not Me.”
So Andy, if you aren’t willing to run your organization based on the beliefs you publicly espouse, please don’t impose them on us via government policy. The government, incidentally, your organization spent more than $60 million to elect.

Keep paying those union dues SEIU….For every hundred dollars you pay, you might see a one dollar return…that's social-ist economics 101…an investment is when you spend a lot of time and money to steal someone else property and give it to your leaders. Your leaders will then drop you bread crusts and fat, and tell you that utopia is right around the bend, they just need a bit more of your freedom and you will all live as kings…keep drinking the koolaid! Pay those dues, Andy Stern is counting on you.

The only way to control the unions is through crippling taxes. Since their clear mission is to disrupt the flow of capital and unite "workers of the world", their dues need to be taxed just as heavily taxed just like the rest of us. Let's start with 75% taxes on dues paid at the union member's paycheck. Then progressively increase this tax to a FAIR share of 90%. After all, isn't it in the name of fairness and redistribution that they want a strong union? It is about time they shared with the rest of us.

Sterns declared income bares no resemblance to his "Take Home Pay" There have been cases in almost every local of the SEIU where a Stern appointee "borrowed" between $600, 000 & $900, 000. And spent as much as Sterns declared income on "perks" You know, Perks like Country Club membership, having a pool installed @ their home, exotic vacations, clothes & jewelry for their spouses, on & on.
ALL skimmed from the "DUES" of workers. That is why the pension funds are bankrupt. It costs Stern more than his "Income" just to fly back & forth from his speaking engagements to his meetings with Obama @ the White House.

This has been my contention all along. There is not one government on this planet whose officials/membership doesn't live a privileged life compared to the rest of the population. They may espouse communist or socialist ideals but in the end they are just as totalitarian and materialistic as the rest. They all subscribe to the "do as I say not as I do" ideal. This is not leadership as I have been raised to understand it. This is not leading by example.

It's because of the union dues that these union members make such high (aka fair) wages. The unions exist only to extort more money from the businesses in the name of fairness that they might pay higher premiums to the unions in exchange. It's a racket and the progressives in government remain silent about it because they are also beneficiaries of such underhanded practices. All so these few unions "leaders" can receive such high wages and other perks.

I'm no fan of Andy Stern, but I do know that perhaps that number may be misleading. A union officials public earnings also include reimbursement for travel expenses. These top guys travel more than Obama, and In some cases the travel expenses eclipse the salary. Just a thought.

As a former union member in an IBEW local in NJ…this just brings back the memory of our executive director fighting to get Cadillacs for the board members to drive around in…'afterall, it's hard driving around the whole state to meet w/you guys…blah, blah, blah. ' I think most of us suggested they get Chevy Vegas – some went as far as suggesting Ford Pintos (those were the real radical guys). The point is…no matter how much we barked and complained – the union board members voted on getting those Cadillacs for themselves…leaving a lasting imression on many of us – that the unions were no better than big business. In fact, they really are more hurtful to the everyday Joe – Simply because they claim they are for us – when, in reality – they are only for themselves.
How much does Union pay for his auto expense, travel expense and his home ( or homes) expenses?
How much money does he get for consulting fees from companies that do business with the union?
Will he make his tax returns available for the union members to see ?
Does Union post on the Internet their Balance Sheet and Income Statement for Union members to see?

I think unions need to be outlawed. Why are workers forced to foot the bill for liberal politics? Same with groups like Acorn. They should not be allowed in politics….period. The unions are draining the companies of this country. But with this administration being best friends with them, is exactly why the stupid healthcare bill was rammed down our throats, and why Pelosi called the status quo, "unsustainable". I'm sure that the union heads were shaking in their shoes because the unions were in fact, "unsustainable" without help from the healthcare bill, and exactly why it was so important it get done asap, anyway possible. It's why the president chose his friend(s) over the American people. His friends are also the reason some form of cap and tax will also get rammed, etc. He's going to ram as much through as possible, any way possible, with no thought of or for the people of the country he's supposed to represent, the working people whose money they all live on. And live very well. For the first time in my life I feel this country is being run by someone who feels the people absolutely do not matter and no dissent is allowed. I don't see a lot of pragmatism on the right. Globalization killed any chance Reaganomics had of being successful, and still they advocate for trickledown economic policies. Tax cuts for the rich were supposed to balance the budgets because of the windfall in revenue. We all knew that would never happen, but when the economy finally melted down they somehow managed to blame liberals.
So no, I don't see any willingness to adjust the ideology to fit the real world…. not on the right.

Unions advocate for workers and it makes the right crazy that anyone would stand up to the corporate interests. Unions created the middle class in this country and even today have a positive affect on the wages of working people…. both union and non-union workers.
Looks pretty reasonable to me. The top people at the corporations the union members work for can preside over the loss of 40 or 50 percent market share and walk away with hundreds of millions… and that's when they fail. When they succeed they take billions.
Stern is a fierce advocate for labor, but he's no Marxist. He uses the power of persuasion to get employers to behave properly…. persuasion backed by power. The right of workers to bargain collectively is as American as apple pie.
A guy like stern could make ten times what he does now if he chose to run a corporation rather than advocate for workers.
If unions didn't work the corporations would not spend billions to crush them.
