Frances Fox Piven Joins Board of Project Vote – What Could Go Wrong?
by Kyle OlsonWhile ACORN has earned much of the scorn of the press and public in recent months, its voter registration arm, Project Vote, is actually the entity that has been conducting the questionable voter registration drives.
Project Vote has been accused of voter registrations fraud in more than a dozen states. Its parent group ACORN, along with a staff member, are scheduled to be tried for fraud in Nevada in a matter of days. Recently, ACORN was nailed under the RICO Act in Ohio and ordered to never come back to the state. More importantly, the settlement also said ACORN couldn’t simply morph into another organization and cause the same type of trouble in Ohio.
In short, Project Vote is at the root of ACORN’s voter registration fraud problems.
So as ACORN is transforming, Project Vote is transforming, too. According to a new article in The Nation, Frances Fox Piven of “Cloward-Piven Strategy” fame, recently joined the Project Vote board of directors.
On their face, Piven’s views seem harmless – registering low-income people to vote is how it’s framed publicly. But it was Piven’s strategy that served as the impetus for the creation of the National Welfare Rights Organization, led by the radical George Wiley. Wiley had a young protégé, named Wade Rathke, who was eventually dispatched to Arkansas to establish a beachhead in the South for the social justice movement. He founded, of course, ACORN.
The strategy put forward by Piven and Richard Cloward, to overwhelm the welfare system in the late 60s and early 70s, bankrupted New York City.
It was Piven who suggested that people losing their homes to foreclosure should simply refuse to leave. ACORN had been following this strategy to a T with its Home Defenders program.
And now Piven is going to have a direct influence over the policy and direction of Project Vote.
Perhaps Piven’s strategy of overwhelming the system will now be applied to registering people to vote. As we saw in Indiana, Florida, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio and many other states, Project Vote created chaos for elections workers to sift through. With Piven now guiding this ship, her success at overwhelming the welfare system will now be applied to voter registration. What could possibly go wrong?

Everyone should read the things Pivens has published in the past. The "Cloward-Pivens Strategy" is 100% correct, right up to the point where the system breaks down. Pivens believes a breakdown of government will cause the "underclass" to rise up and "take what is theirs" — she's wrong. The people she is counting on can't be bothered to get up and go to work in the morning, so they certainly won't be bothered to "rise up".
If seen through to fruition, we will see a breakdown in the federal and possibly state governments. The aftermath, though, will look more like Mercantile 17th Century Denmark than the Worker's Paradise she envisions.

Here's what I think: All of this "in your face" antagonism by the left is designed to elicit a reaction from our side which they can then use to justify more draconian measures. I started thinking this might be the case earlier, but the stroll through the Tea Partiers after the health care passage really convinced me that they are trying to push us into doing something stupid. We must, MUST, retain our composure. We cannot given them a reason to point at us and say "SEE? We told you they were violent crazies!" We have no allies in the MSM, we have few allies in any positions of power except talk radio and the internet. We must stay focused and work toward peacefully but decisively getting these people out of office in November and in 2012.
Let them push us, bend us, pound on us. It only makes us stronger. But if we snap, they will have won, because it's exactly what they want. Don't giver them the satisfaction. Let our mantra be "Remember in November!" The looks on their faces when they lose big and we start undoing their mess will be every bit worth the wait.

I suspect that most who grace this page are in agreement with you, what makes me ill are the number of people locally who say the same, but when questioned, have no idea what Breitbart's biggovernment, Gateway Pundit, Hot Air, or any number of conservative pages are or what they represent. Trying to convince them it is in their best interest to explore these sources is like pounding sand in many cases. Many are convinced that the act of voting has somehow relieved them of their patriotic duty. I just cannot make them understand they need to be educated in their picks. They take the time on how to operate a DVD, camera, or the newest gadget purchased, but in the most important activity they participate in they are willing to be uninformed and clueless..

Perhaps the remaining 49 states should do what Ohio did. Get ACORN on the RICO Act and ban the organization from the state and ban them from reshaping themselves or organizing under another name. It needs to be done NOW. One or two months before the November election is not sufficient time. Now's the time! And we best prepare ourselves now to man the voting booths in November. Make sure there are no electrical/mechanical problems with the machines or the printed ballots. Start; testing the voting machines every week beginning in July. Just in case there are problems, there will be time to fix them. Compose procedures for each and every voting booth so that ballot boxes aren't "lost" and later "discovered" in the trunk of someone's car. Start preparing to take prevented measures NOW against voter fraud in November. Be vigilant. There's too much at stake!
