Why Michigan is the Worst: Moronic Governor Proclaims Today ‘Meatout Day’
by Kyle OlsonIf anyone has ever wondered why Michigan has had the worst unemployment rate in the country for nearly 50 months, or why its state government repeatedly spends more than it brings in, here’s a reason: we have morons for leaders. We really do.
I swear other governors look at Michigan’s policies and do the polar opposition, with good reason.
Adding insult to the ailing meat industry, Governor Jennifer Granholm proclaimed today, Saturday, March 20, “Michigan Meatout Day.” Apparently the Tofu Lobby got to the governor and she sided with them, instead of the farmers and meat producers of Michigan.
Now, Therefore, be it Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, governor of the state of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 20, 2010, Michigan Meatout Day in Michigan. In observance of this day, I encourage the residents of this state to choose not to eat meat. Eating a healthy diet can be fun. Explore the different recipes that can be created by using fresh ingredients and by having a sense of adventure.

Granholm Press Secretary Liz Boyd said the Governor gets hundreds of requests to make official proclamations and the office tries to be accommodating whenever possible. She said folks are reading too much into the proclamation.
“It’s March Madness this Saturday, and I’m sure there will be a lot of people eating chicken wings and burgers regardless of whatever the Governor writes in a proclamation,” Boyd said.
Then why waste the paper, governor? If you’re so accommodating, how about a proclamation acknowledging your lack of success in getting Michigan back on track? How about admitting your “jobs plan” isn’t worth the paper it’s written on?
Actually, I’ve got the perfect final proclamation idea from our illustrious governor – I’ll even provide the wording:
Now, Therefore, be it Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, governor of the state of Michigan, do hereby proclaim January 1, 2011, Granholm Free Day in Michigan. In observance of this day, I encourage the residents of this state to celebrate by setting off fireworks (only those that don’t leave the ground, of course.) Celebrating the riddance of me can be fun. Explore different ways to celebrate, like cutting taxes, reducing regulations, and becoming truly business-friendly.
In case Granholm hasn’t figured it out, “Michigan Meatout Day” is a good example of why Michiganders are counting the days until we have a new governor, regardless of party affiliation.

After reading this, I’ll have to have a steak today. I guess it helps that I live in Arizona and we try to stay away from silly crap like a state wide meatout.

Stupid on several levels:
A WHITEOUT is a blizzard and all you can see is white, it's a TOTALITY of white, not the absence of it.
Whiteout is also correcting fluid, which covers the print with white, other stuff is COVERED in white.
So a MEATOUT would be when all you eat is MEAT.

Well, meat has some amino acids that our body requires, and that are hard to get anywhere else. We are omnivores, meat IS an essential part of a healthy diet.

Happy memories! My folks were teaching me "young lady manners" like ordering for myself at a fancy restaurant. I ordered the artichoke appetizer, salad with Thousand Island Dressing, loaded baked potato, and bacon wrapped filet medium rare, calm and polite as you please.
I can still taste the awesomeness of that steak. I think I was 10.

I live in MI and I’ve enjoyed, pork, dairy, and an egg so far today and I’m looking forward to consuming beef for dinner. I’m hoping that when she leaves office next January that our next Governor and Statehouse will repeal every damn law she passed in the last 8 years!!!
Breakfast was sausage and scrambled eggs, lunch was a trip to the capital lawn where meat producers and sellers treated the public to hot dogs, hamburgers and milk! Dinner is out for steak (followed by birthday cake at home.) All our sons are celebrating with lots of meat today as well. Granholm is not a Michigander – check out our state quarter – it has the state on it – nothing else. Her choice because it shows our shape. Forget the (now deceased) auto industry and the fact we have the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere.

What a dumb@ss. A healthy diet does include meat. Our bodies require fat and protein for survival. Grains are good for immediate energy and not much else.
Enjoy your steaks now, folks. Once we have nationalized health care, your unhealthy consumption of meat will be too much of a burden on the system to be permitted. Punitive taxation and heavy fines will effectively kill the meat industry. No one will be able to afford a steak anymore, except for politicians and higher-echelon party members. In the near future, all patriotic Americans will enjoy a strictly vegetarian diet…whether they like it or not.

The way I see it, every hour spent on bullshit like this is an hour that our "officials" are not spending their time and our money on garbage legislation like Cap n' Trade/Healthcare etc.
Oh the hell they don't. If the Feds pay for your health care, they will reserve the power to tell you what food to eat, medicine to take, your weight requirement and "lifestyle" to lead. Yeah, if it wasn't for the dumb junk in other states, I'da jumped off the Coronado bridge by now out of total frustration over Sacramento, Arnold, and the City of San Diego. This is one screwed up state … the funny thing is that if you truly SLASHED govt. interference and meddling, the state would recover more quickly than folks realize … but instead we are stuck in the mud. It's sad that Michigan has had such lousy politicians for so long – even by our high standards here in Illinois. It is really hard for other states to compete with Michigan in this regard. They really do have the "upper hand" in terms of government creating one of the worst environments for achievement of prosperity in an otherwise beautiful state. It's a great example of man-made disasters through generations of political hot air and harmful choices.
