Las Vegas Mayor Fights Back and Snubs Obama

On two occasions, President Obama has made off-handed swipes at Las Vegas, and both times Mayor Oscar Goodman defended his city.
Most recently, Obama, with a straight face, was discussing making wise financial decisions (because he’s been so prudent with our money) and told a crowd in New Hampshire:
“When times are tough, you tighten your belts. You don’t go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don’t blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you’re trying to save for college.”
So when the customary invitation came from the White House to kiss the ring of the visiting president at the airport (Obama was in Las Vegas Thursday, presumably to bail some water out of the sinking S.S. Harry Reid), Goodman fought back. He declined the invitation.
Kudos to Mayor Goodman for standing up for his constituents and not tolerating the president’s attacks on his city – as humorous as they were meant to be.
“We are hurting, we have people in foreclosures, we have people having a hard time feeding their families and we can’t stand to have a flippant statement made,” said Mayor Goodman.
“I haven’t heard an apology, I haven’t heard a response, all I do is get invitations,” Goodman went on to say.
I doubt you’ll get an apology from this administration, Mayor Goodman.
The arrogance forbids it. And sadly, you may miss out on one thing: a picture of the leader of the free world bowing to you.

If Goodman could stay sober long enough to not fall all over Obama if he did see him, maybe then this would matter…?
It is however extremely childish for the POTUS to condemn or chastise any city or state. It's not his job, even though he thinks it is.
It is funny though, you'd think Barry would be a great poker player, considering how deftly he lies to us with a straight face all the time.

While it feels good at the moment, the sad part is he missed a perfect opportunity to dress him down in front of the nation and it would have been a "Joe the Plumber" moment.

Obama can't apologize even if he wanted to. So many things are going wrong the last thing his image would need is to admit he made a mistake. A "summit" won't do it, and it looks like an "invitation" won't either.

If someone is struggling to get by financially, I wouldn't recommend gambling, either. However, it is Obama's hypocrisy that is so disgusting….TARPy has got to be the largest financial gamble in world history. And doubling down isn't going to beat the odds.

I finally got this figured out. It's like a pathologically chronic gambler who is in denial of his own problem. He slashes out at the very thing that he is a slave to: his uncontrollble urge to blow money. In his case, he uses a euphemism of "spending to create jobs" , fo example.
In a way it's like Pete Rose. No, even when he was confronted with evidence that he gambled on his team, he denied it was true. Obama is doing the exact, same thing. He denies that his spending is ruining "him". i.e. America, even when confronted with the truth, i.e. NO JOBS.
Only when he is able to confront his illness will he be able to conquer it. He certainly won't get help from the rest of those chronic gamblers the Democratic Party (and most of the Republican Party, too).

Beck had a nice show yesterday, Utah, has filed suit to get some of the 60% of the state land which has been 'stolen' back from the Feds.
As a Nevadan this POS President not only hurts the city of Vegas but since the state of Nevada's main economy is tourism ( Mining a close second and what is being proposed, a mining tax) it not only hurts the Vegas community. It hurts the whole states tax structure for everyone in this state Reno, Tahoe, to the little towns like Elko, Wendover, Carson City . After the first statement there were hundreds of conventions that pulled out hurting waitress'es, cooks, hotel desk clerks "SEIU" employees all you know all of those little people that the Democrats cry the little people.And not a peep from "Pinkey" Harry Reid the "Independent like the state of Nevada" as I just about puked in my mouth after that statement. And people wonder why "Pinkey" is in such a hurt. Did any one notice he didn't say Atlantic in pizza cooks to the White House. As a Northern Nevada'n in a state that hardly agrees with anything Vegas does GO OSCAR.

Vegas is likely one of the worst cities I've ever had the displeasure of passing through. (It's a tough choice which is worse between Milano and Vegas though. They might be about the same level of sleaze.)
Anyway, that said I think the major is quite correct and it's nice to see someone stand up the "the One". What's really silly about all of this is the One would gain support if he apologized. It shows he's human and people tend to like that. Instead, he does not. This makes him come across as the arrogant piece of detritus I believe he really is.
