Crime-Tolerating Left Pounces on Apparent New Orleans Stunt
by Kyle OlsonLet me first say, if what is being reported in the media is accurate, a dumb prank was attempted in the New Orleans office of Sen. Mary Landrieu by James O’Keefe and his comrades.
There should be zero tolerance for crime, regardless of who does it. If O’Keefe is guilty of what the FBI is alleging, he should be held accountable. The Left believes that now, but where were they six months ago?
It’s interesting to observe, and personally experience, the hypocritical way the Left is treating this situation. Consider two unsolicited e-mails I received Monday night from a few liberal wackos with too much time on their hands. Here’s the first, which was accompanied by the subject line, “Republicans are As—-es!”:
Hey as—-e, why don’t you talk about the son of a bitch who broke into Senator Landrieu’s office in LA? Yeah, scumbags like you don’t care about the law.
The other, titled, “James O’Keefe is going to jail! YOU FAILED!”:
HAHAHAHA, apparently going to college meant nothing since you never heard of Watergate and the name Richard Nixon. I hope they throw all of you c—s [beyond crude term for a female body part] into prison where trash like you belongs.
The alleged crimes committed by ACORN employees in the O’Keefe and Giles videos were excused, and even rationalized, by the Left. But they don’t apply the same level of patience and understanding for O’Keefe and Company. Even worse, they’re jumping to conclusions about their guilt, and the nature of their alleged crime.
The liberal media is openly theorizing that O’Keefe and his friends were trying to bug telephones in the senator’s office. The Louisiana Democratic Party is already calling it the “Louisiana Watergate.” As Andrew Breitbart said:
MSNBC and other “news organizations” are even billing this developing story as “Watergate”. What do Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow know? And when did they know it?
Surely James O’Keefe is not dumb enough to think he could actually bug the phones of a sitting U.S. Senator. Only the “A-Team” could do that, and they disbanded well over a decade ago.
The Left, despite video evidence, was silent about ACORN’s gross shenanigans. But when scant details emerge from a stunt in New Orleans, it’s the next Watergate. It shows what their real agenda is. It’s not truth, it’s not justice and it’s certainly not the American way. It’s maintaining power and access to taxpayer dollars by any means necessary.

Even if those "means" consist of entrenched institutional fraud and criminal conspiracy of a government influenced organization that uses racketeering as one of the practices in its business model.

I'm wondering the same thing but cannot begin to understand why they would feel the need to do this. To show how the left has double standards? We already know that. You want to pull a prank? Go toilet paper her house or something. So far all this has done is make us look bad and given the left more ammunition against us. If there was a method to their madness I can't wait to hear it.
I agree, if O'Keefe violated the law then he and his associates should be punished. The real point I am glad you covered is the hypocrisy of the Left when it comes to these types of situations.
The Left is quick to jump on items like this without any real knowledge of what happened simply because the alleged perpetrator was from the Right yet they willfully ignore much worse offenses that come from the Left.
We all know the standard spin the usual MSM puts on this. "MOM" (Matthews, Olberman, Maddow) are predictable. I wonder, what do Maureen Dowd and Peggy Noonan think……………….
1) Please post a link to James' legal defense fund.
2) Please post all of the testmony/discovery/depositions that James' legal team will get to do of Sen. Landrieu's office staff.

I think it gives "us" a chance to agree that the alleged "stunt" was wrong, and that laws should not be broken by anyone, and at the same time point out the glaring inconsistencies of the MSM and the Left. Nobody here is saying James would be ok in breaking a law!!

I don't think it was a prank. I think, my own thoughts now, that a demonstration of the lack of security, which we pay for, is lacking. I would think that being caught was pondered and so actions actually taken were fully planned. I see the story now as two fold, one is the lack of security and the other is the lack of facts in reporting combined with the presence of opinion presented as news.
Whistle blowers are to be protected, even when they expose uncomfortable actualities. We cannot fix a problem if it is not exposed.

I certainly don't condone the act if it is true. I also don't condone voter intimidation that this administration let go unpunished! Let's put this in perspective…It certainly isn't even remotely comparable to "Watergate" as the left seems to think….Of course the fringe media is on it like it's the story of the century….NOT….what should be is 14-15 million American workers out of work while we issue 75K foreign visas each and every month and we still have 20 million or so illegal aliens in the country working while more flow in daily!!!

It is hard to overestimate how much O'Keefe is HATED by the left. It' a palapble, foaming at the mouth over the top Keoth Olbermann spittle inducing rant kind of hatred. Because he was effective at exposing their skullduggery.
What the left needs to watch out for is overreaction. If they were smart (they're not) they'd let this drop and O'Keefe will have his day in court and fade back into oblivion.
However, they can't help being WHO they are- and that's nasty, vengeful and petty creatures. So, they risk turning the lad into even a more cause celebre' for the right. But they SO enjoy lustful behaviour like hating, it's too good to resist. Just watch MSNBC for a few minutes.

James O'Keefe's method of operation seems to be along the lines of,"Give 'em some rope and roll the cameras as they will usually hang themselves in some sort of amusing fashion." Getting pinched by the FBI may or may not have been a part of some grand scheme, but the leftys are certainly rising to the bait.

James had become a sort of hero to me. He was living proof that not ALL our young people are brainwashed in to thinking America is an illegitimate, evil place. When I heard he may have done something stupid and illegal, I was saddened. I hope there surprise ending to this that will give me my hero back. We have so few these days.

A little recent history: quite a few Dems condemned Bill Clinton and even supported his impeachment for the high crime of lying about adultery while many Repbulicans consider the Iran-Contra criminals to be heros for their outrageously illegal actions. And the GOP majority congress we had for most of George W's term in office refused to even hold investigative hearings to shed light on several episodes that at least suggested a decent possibility of serious wrong doing actually related to the official conduct of the White House (as opposed to its sex life). I'm not claiming Dems are morally superior, I'm just saying . . .

If O'Keefe is as intelligent as the OP ascribes then this is likely a prank simply to gauge the over reaction from the left and MSM. If so it could very well blow up in the lefts face as they scramble to regain credibility in true to form opportunistic fashion by lambasting O'keefe and friends while they are shackled and awaiting a formal ruling on the case.

Gaining entry onto federal property under false pretenses is a violation of law and on that alone they are in trouble.
It's one thing to play a role (like a pimp) on private property. But on Government property it is an entirely different matter. Impersonating a Telephone Repairman to gain entry – regardless of the motivations or the plan thereafter – was probably an illegal act.

The law is an imperfect instrument and all laws are subject to being challenged and in some circumstances, the totality of the situation will justify breaking some laws for a higher purpose. I think the FBI was set up, along with Landrieu. No bugs found on the guys (thus no wiretapping charges) yet they say a guy was in a car with a listening device? Too obvious. Guys with helmet cams? Too obvious. Using a cell phone cam? You get the picture. Reminds me of the movie "The Sting". Like breitbart said: "front page to back page in 24 hrs" when the truth comes out.

Any "truth" that comes out will go directly to the FBI for investigation as part of this criminal investigation. AB should watch what he says. He'll find himself hauled into FBI offices.
