Field Marshal Andy Stern: ‘Dammit, I Said March Off That Cliff’

Losing the seat formerly held by the champion of socialized medicine – in the bluest of states – apparently hasn’t phased the radical left. SEIU president Andy Stern put the blame on the fact that Democrats in Washington, DC, who the union spent tens of millions of dollars electing, haven’t done enough to pass the progressive agenda. From a SEIU statement:
“The reason Ted Kennedy’s seat is no longer controlled by a Democrat is clear: Washington’s inability to deliver the change voters demanded in November 2008. Make no mistake, political paralysis resulted in electoral failure,” Stern said.
“During the past year, Republicans refused to do anything but stand in the way of change and Democratic Senators took too long to do too little. And tonight, the Senate bears the consequences for its failure to act decisively but the American people are the ones left paying the price…
“The Senate may have squandered the trust the American people gave to Washington in 2008. But now, every member of Congress and the Administration must act with a renewed sense of purpose to show working families whose side they are on and deliver meaningful change to every American. This is not the time for timidity. It starts by passing health insurance reform and giving Pat [DeJong] and millions of people like her the security and peace of mind they deserve.”
Massachusetts voters stood at the borders of their state – and the polling places – with virtual pitch forks telling politicians, to paraphrase Johnny Paycheck, “take this agenda and shove it.”
But yet, the field marshals of the liberal army (I know, I know, “liberal” and “army” don’t really go together) are actually saying that those in Washington, DC haven’t done enough.
News to Andy: the Democrats may follow your lead and plow ahead with an agenda that Americans clearly don’t want, but instead of a Second Tea Party limited to Massachusetts, radicals will experience a full-blown national Tea Party come November.
So the paradox facing the left is this: do they allow Field Marshal Andy Stern to order them off the cliff, or do they tell Andy that his investment in spending tens of millions electing Democrats to implement a Marxist agenda was little more than buying fool’s gold. Either way, radical liberals face one ugly year ahead.

Glenn Beck warned that the "progressives" really don't care about the parties and that they will do all and whatever they must do to get the legislation they want. The politicians will be too worried about their own jobs now to make much noise, so the job will be left to people like Stern to apply the pressure. This fight has only just begun and the true conservatives and tea party folks better be prepared to stay in it for the long haul or plan to live in the socialist state run by the elite that is the goal and end game for the "progressive" agenda.

The elected Republicans didn't stand in the way of change because they had no power in either house to do a thing. The health care bill wasn't passed because the 3 Democrat bosses couldn't get Democrats to vote for their bill without bribing their own party colleagues or exempting them from the bill.
Could he be referring to the Republicans at the tea parties who were practicing their 1st amendment right to assemble and petition their government? I believe these Republicans have much more power right now than any elected Republican.

I believe that SEIU may be close to being broke. The question now is how to push them over the cliff. Maybe the AG in Louisiana needs to lean on them as hard as is possible. And you know what? If we withdraw from the “treaties of treason” like NAFTA, GATT, and the WTO, then, build an equitable, business environment that also protects the rights of the American people, maybe we will be able to get the financial house in order for our kids.

The scary thing about people like this is their rejection of clear evidence that their policy DIDN'T work; instead, they prescribe even more of the same "medicine". It's a form or intellectual dishonesty that you don't see in the private sector for example, because failure to act on evidence is punished quite severely.
Mr. Stern is representative of the engineering mindset of progressives: if we just build society right, we will create the outcomes we desire. Contrast that with the market approach: set up rules of proper conduct and let people pursue their own ends (consistent with those of their fellow's equal freedom). The resulting prosperity of the market order is a result of the trial and error process of discovery that the many participants are engaged in. The outcomes for individuals aren't guaranteed and you will get disparities of wealth. But you don't turn people into cogs in machine which they have no control over.
Stern is the same idiot that said that his union, SEIU, would "Use the power of persuasion to get what it wants or the persuasion of power". This idiot thinks he is in command of a real army. Right before the election I had noticed that a Jewish attorney that I had come in contact with had an Obama logo pinned to his lapel. I asked the obvious and if he supported Obama. He was overjoyed when I mentioned his name and criticized Bush. I had the same thing happen about a month ago in a business meeting with a real decent young man of about forty. After the requisite "Obama jokes", we got down to business. When finished later, i walked him to his car, and couldn't believe it. There on the back, was one of those idiot "HOPE" Obama stickers. Feeling like a fool after having already inserted a shitty boot in my mouth, I said: I can't believe it. He lauged, and said " he is so intelligent, and has charisma. The same response as you just said. it baffles me.
Down at my horse corrals, I have about forty head of young yearling colts. They all have intelligence and charisma. Some of them are even exceptional atheletes. That doesn't qualify any of them to be President.
I think Jews vote for Democrats because so many of them, their parents at least, immigrated from socialist countries and old habits die hard. Collectivist ideas once embedded are not so easily replaced. Maybe that's just too simplistic but its the only reason I can think of.
But it is bizarre that for the most part, Jews vote for the very ideas that would have them eradicated if those ideas ever came to full bloom, like they did in Nazi Germany.

He must be getting worried now that their policies are repeatedly being rejected by the American people…without all this forced union legislation they will be facing bankruptcy after looting and mismanaging their members pension plans for years! The whole "working families" thing irritates me…it's as if the majority of the country not in Unions doesn't work in their little progressive minds. Many people say that our government and "leaders" are out of touch but in my mind they hear us and they simply don't care. This is where that "political capital" comes in. And then to top it off he arranged to have the SEIU exempted from a proposed tax on "Cadillac insurance plans".

I think it also has to do with their history of being enslaved. They tend to have great compassion for the underdogs of the world. They feel the need to help those that have been downtrodden and though misguided thinking they are helping the poor of the country and world. Axion, you probably have another piece of the puzzle placed in the mystery with your synopsis. Old habits do die hard from the old country. Take that into context with the Democratic party had not always been on the path of Progressivism, it begins to make more sense. Their party has been absolutely taken over by socialists.
You also need to take into consideration that there are the Secular Jews and the Orthodox Jews. They have totally different perspectives of the world. The Secularist are the ones who do not follow Torah, they are often agnostic and believe in social change. Where as the Orthodox Jew believes in God has to answer to Him. Most of the American Jews today are secularist. They are not religious, they are ideologues.
I guess to sum it up, there is not just one type of Judaism, just like there is not one type of Protestantism.

It was another middle-of-the-night fatwah like the INTERPOL one and it really creeped me out. EVERYBODY here should read it. I'm anxious to see his documentary this Friday. He said on the radio that he had some gal vet the facts and she has a masters degree in history. She told Beck it made her angry because she didn't learn a lot of the facts the documentary reveals when she was in school.
The problem is that they think YOU don't get it, after all, they know what is best for us.

Enjoy the victory but don't fool yourself in to thinking that Stern is squirming yet. He's just mad, (in more ways than one), right now because he knows he is going to have to carry the load now.
Yep, thats just what the unions should do, hold up production of American goods more so the manufacturer that employs them goes bankrupt for not producing any capital to stay in business!!
