Dems Assemble Circular Firing Squad Over Coakley Loss; Freedom Left Intact – For Now
by Kyle Olson
Martha Coakley’s campaign team began leveling charges against DC Democrats as it became increasingly apparent the wheels had fallen off her campaign wagon well before Election Day. DC operatives, including those in the White House, of course, couldn’t withhold return fire. Politico reports:
And in private conversations, Hill sources say White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel has blamed Coakley, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Democratic pollster Celinda Lake for failing to see Brown’s surge in time to stop it.
Coakley advisors, meanwhile, say DC operatives stepped in too late, so the blame lies with them. A memo, obtained by Politico, said in part:
National Dems Failed to Aid Coakley Until Too Late
— Coakley campaign provided national Democrats with all poll results since early December
— Coakley campaign noted concerns about “apathy” and failure of national Democrats to contribute early in December. Coakley campaign noted fundraising concerns throughout December and requested national Democratic help.
— DNC and other Dem organizations did not engage until the week before the election, much too late to aid Coakley operation
The Atlantic reported on a “senior” DNC official:
“This memo is a pack full of lies and fantasies – The DNC and the DSCC did everything they were asked and have been involved in the race for several weeks not just the last one -The campaign failed to recognize this threat, failed to keep Coakley on the campaign trail, failed to create a negative narrative about Brown, failed to stay on the air in December while he was running a brilliant campaign…”
And Byron York reported on the Washington Examiner site that it’s a virtual brawl within Democratic ranks about who is to blame. And liberals are so beside themselves, they’ve taken to personally attacking their candidate. From York’s story:
“She’s kind of aloof,” the Democrat says. “There are people who will vote for her who don’t really have a sense that they like or trust her. The Kennedys aren’t really fond of her. She basically announced her campaign the day Ted died, and didn’t give Vicki the opportunity to think about [running to replace her husband]. From the Kennedy side of the ledger, there’s no great love for Coakley. They look at her as kind of a predatory politician.”
Regardless of who is to blame for Coakley’s loss – and who is hit in the cross-fire – the event will send shock waves through the ranks of the Democratic Party. Incumbents and challengers in the states not as blue as Massachusetts – all 49 of them – will now go through the process of determining whether they want to sacrifice their careers for the sake of passing their president’s and special interest groups’ agenda of socialized medicine.
The special election may serve as a wake-up call for Democrats, just in time for the November election. But Barack Obama is no Bill Clinton. Having self-admitted Mao fans as advisors, and allowing radical unions such as SEIU to throw their weight around, the Democrats will likely hit the snooze after Tuesday’s election. The question will be whether or not it goes off or if they’re caught sleeping in November, too.
This election serves as a punch in the gut to their agenda. For now, freedom remains mostly intact and Democrats have been boxed in and if anything, will only be able to pass a watered-down version of health care reform. Thank you, Massachusetts voters, for preserving a bit of freedom for the rest of us.

And the spin begins……
The Dems wilol be in panic mode and fun to watch.
Also, I heard Kevin Jennings is holding a separate circle thingy with his buddies.
Looks like Martha Coakley is going to be a waitress sandwich of the white house….
Brown should consider a presidential bid after he gets a couple of years in the senate. It's not like there's no precedent for it.
Yes, thank you Massachusetts voters. Blue dogs and Rinos take note; the American people will band together behind candidates that have their best interests at heart. Mrs. Coakley, thank you for a gracious conciliatory speech. Congratulations Scott Brown and Massachusetts; now Americans can hope there will be a change for the better in D. C.
Kennedy and the Dems held the seat for nearly 50 YEARS. Obama has been pitching for her in person. This is a heavy Dem state. It isn't Coakely's fault if it isn't the fact that the agenda of the Democratic party is at fault.
So that's what my pops meant by 'circular firing squad'. Let them eat one another, the spell is broken.
I dunno, she did a fair job of shooting holes in the boat all on her own, it simply MUST have put a dent in her numbers. Judging from my East Coast peeps penchant for MLB, I'd say that could have cost her all on it's own.
READY, FIRE, AIM!
For those in the know….ever have to kill a snake? the body writhes for quite a long time after the head is cut off with a shovel. My thoughts seeing Obberman tonight…..but a snake is not a lizard that grows its tail back.
I went over to Huffingtonpost to see what some there thought was the reason for Coakley's defeat. They think it is because Obama and Congress haven't been Progressive enough. That if they would have pushed for all these extreme left policies and not tried to compromise they would have retained the support they felt when Obama was elected.
Hunh? Do they not get it or do I not get it. I could be wrong but I don't think the reason Massachussets voters elected a fiscal conservative (as far as I know anyway) is because they want more progressive (see far left) policies.
Lest it be taken wrong, the snake is the Progressives, no bodily harm meant to Obberman on MSNBC.
Wouldn't that be a circle of jerks?
I don't think they are capable of doing either of the three. Maybe we should help them out.
Great title for the article Kyle. A circular squad, whether firing or not, is just what the liberals are – a closed circle of minds – very small minds; a think-tank inside the merry-go-round. And when a break appears in that circle, they flog the edges of the hole. I'm so happy to find that there are Dems who understand – even if deep within their souls – that freedom matters; that the people matter more than their government. This wildfire is about to spread.
I predict the dems learn nothing from this. Nothing. They want to do a Thelma and Louise and hold hands over the cliff. 2010 will be a bloodbath for them. Obama is looking like Carter II.
I just endured an hour of MSNBC and Maddow, Mathews, and Olberman said the exact same thing. For the life of me I will never understand how they could come to that conclusion from all this.
We all know it is George Bush's fault!
From a history stand point, this is very exciting to see first hand the awakening that is happening. It is also very interesting to see how "civil" this has been so far but it does mirror a lot of what was going on before the out break of the Civil War and we have a long way to go yet before we, as a country, are stabilized.
The blame belongs with one person and only one, Obama! The American people got tired of being kicked in the B*lls. We are fighting back.
Thank you, You saved our a$$es tonight, and may have just saved our Freedom, .
I watched The Biggest Loser tonight and it wasn't the television show, it was the Democratic Party.
I believe you are right fugazi. Instead of learning from this, Dems will use this as some kind of false empowerment to push even harder for their non-popular and idiotic policies. I should say they will be pushed even harder by their fellow lemmings to become martyrs.
They are indeed right! Were they to have made voting Republican or Independent against the law, they certainly would have won here, there and everywhere. The American voter is ill equipped mentally to vote with any serious consideration to the affects of casting that vote so let the intelligentsia pick the winner. What's more progressive than that?
Let freedom rings… again! Thank you the 52% of Massachusetts that voted for Brown and for America!
Can't say anything good about the 47% (who the hell are you folks?) that went for Coakley.
You should post something like that over on HuffPo and see what kind of response you get.
Switched over to MSDNC tonight for a moment, to see how they were reacting. They had Howard Dean on, and he was in the middle of explaining why it was all the fault of George W. Bush ; unfortunately, I changed the channel again before he finished his explanation … sometimes my index finger has a mind of its own …
1775 – Lexington, Concord and Bunker Hill
2009/2010 – Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts
1776 – Trenton
2010 – ?
The Second American Revolution has begun!
Then you missed the part when Dean stated that people who blame others for their own failures are "losers".
Ignorance, incompetence, and hubris…all in one fell swoop!
Beautiful!
Rahmbo said they failed to see Scott Brown's surge in the polls in time to stop it. How fricking presumptuous of these statist freaks, as if they could've stopped Mr.Brown cleaning the floor with them………….. Hanzo
When I see Dean and his ilk sometimes my middle finger has a mind of its own …………. Hanzo
Or just a mutual circle jerk? ……….
Don't forget, "Liberalism is a mental disorder", and we are witnessing that full force right now. Fun, ain't it??
they are famously anti-gun should somebody show them which end is the "out" end?
"…White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel has blamed Coakley, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Democratic pollster Celinda Lake for failing to see Brown’s surge in time to stop it."
Rahm, I say to you, without even more massive fraud than usual, there wasn't a way to stop that train! For you to think so is pure arrogance.
The next train is going to be heavier and faster. It belongs to We The People. I suggest you make use of your ballet training and pirouette out the door.
I'd love to go visit my congressional delegation tomorrow. Especially Arlen, and Casey. Bet the doors are shut tight everywhere tomorrow. I wonder if the DNC building is hung with Black Crepe?? Flags at half staf, and if I walk past 1600, wil I be able to hear the screaming match going on? Rahm, Barry, Michelle, Joe, Axel. What will Gibbs say tomorrow?? He'll get back to us?
Myth of Camelot
The first Camelot surrounds the legend of Aurthur, Guinevere, Merlin and The Knights of the Round Table.
The second Camelot surrounds the lives of the Kennedy Clan, mostly generated and pushed by the MSM and their press secretaries.
Thankfully both legends are not relegated to history.
Hey Obama. Still think the 'tea baggers' don't count? One lump or two?
Did Steve Schmidt run that campaign?
Maddow and The Tingler were saying the same tripe. Esentiall they still felt the most important thing was to get healthcare passed. I think anyone with half a brain in DC should realize if helthcare passes and they are in the remotest of conservative states, they are esentially done. I lived in Indiana for 17 years and thought of Evan Bayh as a DINO (Dem In Name Only), then his voting record after reaching DC proved me wrong. If the Pubs can find a decent canidate to run against him(beleve me there were some real turkeys that I could not hold my nose and vote for), I think it would be an easy to gain. I hope the Dems keep thinking that they need to go more radical, but make no headway.
For progressives, it's always opposite day.
I think what they really meant is that they didn't get the Acorn folks up there soon enough to rig the election. The progressives felt very secure in MA. There is no safe harbor anymore.
Let's finish the job and firm up our message by prosecuting Coakley for the illegal use of state campaign funds. This issue shouldn't be allowed to fade away just because she lost this election. It's high time the people had some justice.
While it's great to gloat and laugh (we deserve it after 4 Nov 08) we need to FOCUS and STAY INVOLVED! If we relax and fall back asleep (which the libs want) WE WILL LOSE what we have gained…FREEDOM SAVED.

The Anti Liberal Zone
Circle jerkers.
You mean Coakley's, right?
This is no time to relax. The Narcissist in Chief will be more determined than ever to push his failed policies. Hre lied in the 2008 campaign regarding his true intentions….do not think for a moment that he plans on coming to the center. For him it's full steam ahead for the Progressive way of life. He now knows there is little time left to create his legacy and there are plenty of UnAmerican Socialists left to help him do it. Nancy PeLooser will never lose her constituents and F*ck You Schumer is underhanded enough to cheat his way back in his re-election bid.
The Commonwealth proved last night that Patriots still hold sway in this country. Thank you for your bravery and breaking free from the shackles of Camelot. True American spirit flourishes!!!
Article was arguably neutral until the last paragraph.
Actually, I think it is a remarkable feat of marksmanship for the Democrats to shoot themselves in the foot, considering where their heads are lodged.
And so begins Ted Kennedy's descent into history as but a mere footnote.
If Brown runs in 2010, he'll have had exactly as much experience as Barack Obama did before HE ran for President.
Never underestimate the power of denial.
That movie is a perfect portrayal of this administration and their toadies in Congress.
More. Brown has had real life experience that Barry never had, except for the community organizing and the multiple memoirs.
They're upset mainly because the Brown surge (sounds gross!) happened so late in the game that there wasn't time enough to mobilize the usual suspects for some effective voter fraud.
Democracy was allowed to happen without interference.
Isabella Melendez still needs to be brought to court as well for voter fraud.
***WATCH! DON'T GIVE UP!!! THE "PROGRESSIVES" MUST BE STOPPED! THEY HAVE THE SAME AGENDA HAS ISLAM, DESTROY OUR ECONOMY!!!
***CAUTION: The BUSH FATHER/SON TEAM (3rd DEGREE MASONS) WERE PROGRESSIVES TOO! IT'S THE CANDIDATE, NOT NECESSARILY THE PARTY!!! NOTE: CARTER HAD TO BECOME a "MASON" TO BECOME PRESIDENT!!! MASONS = PROGRESSIVE=MARXISM!!!
Of course it was all Coakley's fault.
Her candidacy, as the Mass. Democrat nominee for senator, is what started the Tea Party movement last summer. Right!
And it was that Curt Shilling gaffe that totally polarized the independent vote in Mass.
It was her ".. there are no more Talliban in …" gaffe that got 20% of the Mass. Democrats to vote against her.
With all these faults, there was no way that Obama's showing up in Boston on Sunday would turn the tide in favor of the Democrats and Teddy's legacy.
So please Mr. President, do hold on to your agenda, it had nothing to do with how people voted in Massachusetts yesterday.
However, maybe you should reconsider making appearances for fellow Democrats who are trying to win elections.
Funny, watching the "circle of blame".
It never occurred to any of them that the people reject the POLICIES, PLATFORM, PLAN and PURPOSES of the Progressive, Socialist, Marxist Agenda?
Nation Rebuilding that I can truly believe in!
Liberal Democrats are like roaches……….they scamper when you turn on the Light!
The thing I have to remember about Politicians, especially those on the left, is that they are narcissist for the most part.
Their sycophants will whisper in their ears and they will swallow the excuses "It was Coakley, not our agenda, not our arrogance"
That started about 10 seconds after she conceded and is being gobbled up by the hard left, fools that they are.
I agree with your, but the thought of Rahm in a ballet dress seems all to natural and revolting at the same time.
I also agree with DontTreadOnMe, the fraud machine will be well oiled and running at 110% come this November, it's the only real hope they have.
This is all too funny! Let's get the guy into his seat and the health-care monster back under the "Chosen One's bed (I do hope it keeps him up at night).
Then on to Killing the "CRAP & Trick" scheme, then on to something to help job creation (Not GOVT. jobs) and the economy (Not wall street).
Once completed "Scott the party crasher" will be a better known to us and we can think 2012. We have had enough words, let's get some deeds under his belt before attaching his halo. I'm rooting for you Scott!
Ralph. Keep deluding yourself and have another drink of the koolaid. We'll get to Illinois in November.
Maybe they will chase each other's tails around a tree until they turn into butter.?

Thank goodness. The so-called Kennedy magic evaporated a long time ago!

It is interesting to see how everyone is commenting on how Coakley or the Democrats lost the election. The MSM is looking for someone to blame. Why don’t they go to the people that voted and ask them why they did not continue to support the Democratic Machine in MA. People do not want Healthcare Reform (at least not what the current bill is) they do not want to see Organized labor regain the political power they had in the 60’s and they do not want a socialistic society. What they want is the freedoms that have been promised to everyone in the US constitution and opportunity to be successful without government interference.
Both Parties have lost their way and the candidates that they are sending to Washington are so concerned about following the party line that they are forgetting about the people who elected them and the reasons they were elected. While there are those who will vote the party line, I want to believe that the majority of people vote because of what they see as the candidate’s beliefs and goals.
We the voters need to continue to write and call all of our representatives to make sure that they know what we expect of them regardless of their party affiliation.
