Minnesota University Wants K-12 Teachers to Hate America
by Kyle OlsonWe’re accustomed to strange political phenomena rising out of Minnesota.

We can accept the occasional Jesse Ventura or Al Franken winning statewide office, because the state’s voters obviously like to be different.
But we doubt even the most offbeat citizens of that state would approve of the new K-12 teacher education program that’s been proposed for the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus.
While the rest of the nation is trying to force teachers to help our children reach their potential, the university’s College of Education and Human Development wants to make sure future teachers are more anti-American, so they can share that philosophy with their future students.
We couldn’t even begin to make something like this up.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, College of Education officials recently established the “Race, Culture, Class and Gender Task Group.” It’s charged with helping to devise a new system for training prospective K-12 teachers, because current teachers lack “cultural competence,” a factor officials believe contributes to the poor performance of minority students.
The task force has issued its final report, which the group Foundation for Individual Rights in Education brought to light, and officials from the College of Education are expected to review its recommendations in January.
What’s the task force’s main recommendation? That new teachers be immersed in a liberal political agenda that’s highly critical of American social norms, particularly the notion that all people can positively influence their own destiny through hard work and determination.
The task force “recommended that aspiring teachers must repudiate the notion of the ‘American Dream’ and instead “must embrace – and be prepared to teach our state’s kids – the task force’s own vision of America as an oppressive hellhole: racist, sexist and homophobic,” according to writer Katherine Kersten of the Star Tribune.
“The report advocates making race, class and gender politics the ‘overarching framework’ for all teaching courses at the university,” Kersten wrote. “It calls for evaluating future teachers in both coursework and practice teaching, based on their willingness to fall into intellectual lockstep.”
The task force recommends that prospective teachers begin by confessing their own bigotry. They would have to prepare a report “describing their own prejudices and stereotypes, questioning their ‘cultural motives’ for wishing to become teachers, and take a ‘cultural intelligence’ assessment designed to ferret out their latent racism, classism and other ‘isms,’” according to the newspaper.
More than anything, “future teachers must. . . recognize and denounce the fundamental injustices at the heart of American society,” the article said.
What about those prospective teachers who refuse to fall into “intellectual lockstep?” After all, there’s bound to be a stubborn conservative or two who think America’s a pretty decent place to live, work and raise a family.
For them, the university “must develop clear steps and procedures. . . including a remediation plan,” the report said.
We wonder if the university’s “remediation” program will prescribe years of hard labor, so the unenlightened will have plenty of time to ponder their foolishness.
Silly us. The whole time we thought the problem was that our kids were falling behind in key subjects like science and math.
We never understood that the key to quality education is to teach all youngsters to hate their country, and teach minority kids that society’s cards are impossibly stacked against them, so they might as well go sell crack.
And silly us, we were under the impression that free thought was still allowed in this country, even in the intellectual gulags otherwise known as university campuses.
But back to reality. We think the proposed program at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities is an unbelievable pile of dung, a complete waste of tax dollars, and an insult to university students and the K-12 students they will be teaching.
God help us if this is the prevailing attitude in schools of education across the land.
Now that the good citizens of Minnesota are aware of this nonsense happening right under their noses, we trust they will kill it out before it’s put into practice.

What is happening to my country?

Afte4r getting our government on the right tract we need to clean up academia .
Minnesota has been under severe Kool-aid alert for years now…
and it shows. Liberal white guilt is all pervasive, and the small (relative) population and grain belt abundance caused the 'progressives' to start on this path of their own self-destruction.
Part of us wants to laugh at their self-imposed dilemnas. They asked for Ventura and Franken, not to mention the late Paul Wellstone. Goofballs all…
But this speaks to a more dangerous curve that threatens the Constitutional Republic for which so many sacrificed.
To allow a statist/communist cabal to seize, without a shot, the very essence of our country is a terrifying thought.
It should awaken those who have been silent…
Exactly what "The People" aloow to happen. Nothing more, nothing less.
Good start could be to hold elected officials responsible for every violation of the Constitution.
Take the children AWAY from these people.
It seems every day I read this crap and wonder if I'll ever want to have a child in the USA. For what? To be a volunteer for those truly despicable liberal bottom feeders.
What does it say about an ideology when they have to hide the objectives and its purpose from adults? What does it say about an ideology when they have to prey on the youngest and most vulnerable to thrive?
Get your kids away from them. So at least we can feel safe about having a child in America.
[...] Read more….. [...]
While we were working, providing for our families, and being productive members of society; we forgot that everything starts at the local level.
We need to take back the School Boards, City Councils, Aldermen, Mayors, County seats.
We need to publicly out the progressives, expose them and remove them. The vocal minority has been shouting down the rest of us for too long. Take back your cities, townships, schools, and counties and the rest will follow. Get in their faces, they are political bullies, and everyone knows how to handle bullies.
And so we see another element of the Glorious Cultural Revolution!
Wake up America, there is an active attack going on – not just Minnesota but our entire country starting from the White House down to overthrow our government, industry, education ALL OF IT! We are under ATTACK.
The only answer is to drop down on our knees and appeal to GOD, and elect a real president like Lieutenant Colonel Alan West.
The University of Minnesota's Twin Cities campus needs to publicly announce who the idiots are that are proposing this lunacy… The cretins that concocted this "curriculum" need to be investigated and castigated.

Too early for Allen West… POSTUS and the Black Congressional Congress have poisoned too many whites against voting another black into the office of the President or of any responbility any time soon. I am very, very impressed with Allen West and his story, and will actually contribute to his campaign for State Representative for Florida even though I am thousands of miles away. My guess is that he will not vote "Present" when the option to help decide the country's direction is offered… but as I said, recent events and negative publicity has dictated that it will take time to turn peoples minds.
The number of fronts for revolution is growing every day. Unbelievable!
I truly don't mind that these people want to teach this stuff. Fine by me. If they want to renounce the values of hardwork and delayed gratification and thrift and assimilation and liberty and freedom for all that have made America the great nation it is…I say let them.
What I mind is that they want to teach this useless crap and then they demand that we provide them with all the benefits that their worldview can't produce for them. But it's the leaders of this movement who are the worst. Do you think they let their kids work in dead-end jobs with no skills. Do you think they let their kids fail at math or english? Nope, they hire tutors. Do you think they let their kids fail at the SAT, nope…more tutors. But the folks who are in these failing schools, not learning basic skills (never mind not learning advanced skills) don't have the money for all those tutors and it's their kids who will suffer for it.
These fruitcake policies seem designed to ensure there's a permanent underclass of under-educated, easily-victimized, entitlement-minded, Dem-voting stooges.
Don't count on it! MN has the likes of Jesse Ventura, Rep. Keith "I want to swear allegiance to the US by swearing allegiance to the Koran" Ellison, Sen. Amy "Epitome of the Left" Klobuchar, and Sen. Al "Obnoxious, Big-mouth, Liar, Blare America, Self-Important, I-Know-Better-Than-All-Of-You" Franken in office.
The TC Metro liberals control the machine and the out state farmers (DFL – Democrat Farmer Labor party) have imbibed the kool-aid. They'd vote liberal if they were being led to the concentration camp by a Democrat. It's all about "me-me-me!" Gimme my welfare, gimme my non-profit grants, gimme my stadium, gimme my milk check, gimme my political power in return for the goodies.
The U of MN and subsidiaries suck at the public teat to the tune of HUNDREDS of $MILLIONS and the liberals in the MN legislature squeal with delight! Until the conservatives gain control of the reigns of the MN institutions, this type of imbecilic thinking will continue.
Thank God for the few good men and women who fight hard for the MN citizens – Michelle Bachman, John Kline, Tim Pawlenty, etc.

This is coming from Miinesota? I'm shocked! (not)
Crap like that pretty much ensures my son, who is about to graduate high school, a top job in the Country.
Rock on Minnesota. Your kids will be pumping gas for the rest of us soon.
I actually read the "final report" you linked to and there is nothing in it that reflects the comments made by Kersten in her article. Instead, it is just the usual liberal approach to multiculturalism, laced with educational jargon. Is it a load of steaming caca? Yeah, but your editorial above cites only comments made in another journalist's opinion piece and it is deliberately inflammatory. That would be what we call "hearsay". Folks, click on the link to "final report" and read the silly nonsense for yourself. It's absurd but nowhere near as sinister as this piece, or Kersten's, would have you believe.
This is the genesis of America’s core problems. How many little “Obamas” are pumped out every day from this system? This has been a cause for people such as Bill Ayres; and now their years of devoted ideology and activism is paying off in spades for them and in fact the way it’s been created, is now a perpetual Leftist/Marxist machine. This must be stopped at all costs. The word “purge” comes to mind.
I agree. I love seeing more and more Romantic Natonalism sites everyday, all revolutionary minded. In this country, you get shouted down as a “hick” or “racist” if you even show any signs of Romantic Nationalism whatsoever. We, the People are tired of the threats from the Dems AND Repubs. We need more Romantic Nationalism and we need it now! Or else politicians, we are coming for you and it won’t be pretty-at all!
This from the state that elected Franken to office. Well I never. The land of ten thousand lakes must have some really crazy stuff in the water.
If you don’t know about Romantic Nationalism, look it up on Wikipedia or some other info site. My definition of it is: Undying love for your country, love of national songs, national holidays, and the ultimate superiority towards other countries i.e. America is THE best country in the world. I have found a few good ones, but that is my own personal favorite.
More than anything, “future teachers must. . . recognize and denounce the fundamental injustices at the heart of American society,” the article said.
Wow. Just wow. Future teachers must. Must. What if they refuse? What if they think that black and other minority kids can be uplifted and filled with hope for their futures? What if they can be inspired by…..I don't know…..the fact that a BLACK MAN IS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES? These people are relentless. They must be defeated and sent back to wherever they came from. First Al Franken and now this. Minnesota where are your patriots?
Or vice versa.
ChileSerrano……..I am very proudly part Chickasaw Native American, and Irish…I take offense to your Paleface comment……are you for real? get a towel and dry off your back…..
Anybody who is still sending a child to public school is crazy. If you think this isn't happening in your school, then think again. Child abusers always tell the child not to tell their parents and how not to tell.
I never knew that the sciences or mathmatics had a racial element. The real bigots and racists are those that
just cant seem to let go. Get over your white guilt and let people come together for once and stop trying to divide for the sake of your weak minded views.
a sharp punch in the nose will get their attention….the sharp punch is the unemployment line!!
Oh gentle BG readers, it’s not just in the great state of Minnesota that has the “hate America” crowd all lathered up.
Here, in the “Peoples Republik of Kalifornia”, we've been sold out by the “cultural Dhimmitude” of the Kalifornia school board and the socialist school text book syndicate.
Last month, my 12 year old son came to me with the subject he is mandated to study in his 7th grade class.
Here are the opening two page chapter intro that I scanned for future reference. (To be addressed by me at the next school board meeting next month in our town).
http://www.screencast.com/users/GooDDaDDy/folders...
It’s a 51 page puff piece on the “Religion of Peace”.
I called his vice-principal and had him “opted out” of their indoctrination. She told me it was just a study of their “culture” and not of their religion.
I call BS.
Remember, it’s 51 complete pages on Islam and the pedophile Mohammed.
They’re not going to get away with this…I guarantee it folks.
More later on the matter.
Not Over.
Are you really that ignorant or just stupid.
Of COURSE they can't spell out what they ARE actually doing – they have to DISGUISE what they really want to do with fancy words that they can then say mean something else. And they've been doing it for DECADES and it's NOT "hearsay". Give me a break.
Minnesota politics and policy is dominated by the Twin Cities – a cesspool and magnet of Leftists – the outstate areas of the state actually lean conservative and have at times bolstered a move to Conservatives (i.e. Pawlenty and Coleman). What has to be remembered is this is the land of Hubert Humphrey – one of the first mainstream advocates of Socialism in America – Humphrey's legacy lives on and if you were to attend a press conference of Minneapolis political officials you will swear you were attending a Bolshevik rally.
As in most "blue" states, the urban center of population infests the state with the tyranny of Socialism. One of the keys to Minnesota will be next year's Governor race – Pawlenty is not running for re-election and so, the chances of a new Democrat governor are extremely high – and if that comes to pass, you will see Minnesota join the ranks of Michigan, California and New York as a failed state – a state which will economically implode.
Close all schools of education. Eliminate education as a major. Eliminate the Dept of Education. It's a start.
On page 5 of the final report, this is described and it is mentioned very clearly. That's as far as I've read, and I expect to see a lot more of it in the following pages.
Ventura, at the time had projected himself as a "change from the same old same old". He was a lying sack of crap.
Franken lawyered and possibly ACORNED up a victory. He is a lying sack of crap.
Keith "hey someone pay for my trip to the Haj" Ellison is a lying sack of crap.
Amy "hey my dad was a crappy writer for the Red Star" Klobochar is a lying sack of crap.
"2 term, well maybe 3 term" Wellstone is still a martyr for the left.
Having been attending the tax rallies, and more recently the Tea Party rallies give me hope for the Peoples Republic of Minnesota.
We shall overcome.
I watched us be set up for the fall of America in the nation's public schools for 40 years.
WHEN ARE PEOPLE GOING TO WAKE UP??
Taking your kids out is not enough… making taxpayers aware of what their money is paying for is crucial.
In your town, do they ascribe to 'IB' (International Baccalaureate) or any other UNESCO crap?
Goals 2000 was quite damaging. Also beware of school 'reformers' or Sizer or Littky theme schools…
These are all social manipulation and political braiwashing schemes USING YOUR TAX DOLLARS.
ho!
well said and funny to boot…

This has been going on since 1946… here is a statement from an NEA Journal..
"In the struggle to establish an adequate world government, the teacher has many parts to play… He can do much to prepare the hearts and minds of children for global understanding and cooperation… At the very top of all the agencies which will assure the coming of world government must stand the school, the teacher, and the organized profession."
— National Education Association Journal, 1946
Here's an experiment. Compare student achievement by the level of dysfunction in the household, rather than by race, or anything else. I think you'll find quickly why some students cannot function.
There will be some other strong correlations, but you can ignore those because the primary correlation will be unambiguous.
Just defining dysfunction will be the minefield.
I am a freshman at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse majoring in education and I just took a class like this. I felt as if I was being brainwashed. The main point that the teacher made was that people only get to where they are because they are privileged. All the course talked about was religious, white, straight and middle to upper class privilege. I found taking the class pointless and dumb. I hope Minnesota drops this requirement, but I doubt they will.
Further evidence that next to journalists, these so-called "educators" are the worst educated people in society as we know it today. It's time to pull their collective nose from the public trough and force them to get real jobs in real life.
HOMESCHOOL!
Minnesota is an interesting region in the context of the American culture and politics.
Their famous accent got that way because of a preponderance of Scandinavian and German immigrants. I think the general vibe of social harmony and goodwill is a reflection of similar national character of Norway and Sweden. To put it bluntly: With a lot of racial uniformity, people get along pretty well. Likewise, socialistic governmental solutions aren't so objectionable to the we-take-care-of-our-own folksy folks there.
That is until recently, when their relatively higher standards of living have been attracting more and more minority groups from Chicago and Gary Indiana. Corresponding to this, in the last decade there's been a rise in a lot of racially-based discord vented by radio shock jocks around the twin cities.
I think the K-12 Teachers DO NEED special training to address the needs of poor minorities. Someone should do some research and post an article about what's really going on there. What's this article here? It looks like its "reporting" on someone else's "reporting". From reading this article I can't tell anything about what this supposedly liberal initiative is doing…other than Brietbart telling us we're not supposed to like it!

Come on A.B.! Time for "Big Education"! Expose these criminal Marxists DAILY!
You misspelled castrated.
Actually, I don't think Hitler would be proud of them. Considering his ideal race is blond hair, blue eyes, white, and those are the traits this study is railing against.
These are just some of the reactions to a story in a Swedish English language news site/paper about Afgani teens being put off a Swedish train because the had no tickets, no money and were in Sweden ILLEGALLY:
"Left in the cold? Oh shame….Now send em packing back to Afghanistan!
Surely "The local" can find better news stories to write about ?

Does this mean that entering Sweden illegally will get rewarded ?
I cannot comprehend any circumstances that would warrent these illegals not being sent back to their homeland and I wonder what would happen if they were followed by a Million more, just like them ?
Would the same treatment be given to the new Million illegals ? or would common sense prevail ?

Why is this news? No pay, no ride. If they were Nordic in their complexion and hair color this wouldn't even make it into the regional papers. Good job, SJ!"
Funny to see you quoting Adolf Hitler. Well at least you don't back down.
Anyway- look- Especially with the recent emergence of news that teenager Somalian immigrants are leaving Minnesota and going abroad to terrorist training camps… I ASK YOU THIS:
What's worse? A) Some do-gooder PC liberals trying to engage these poor minority youths and give them some much needed attention…
OR B) Taking a "do nothing" policy (as it seems to be advocated by this blog) which leaves these teens "up for grabs" to the militant Islamist ideologues?
I read the report, and it's every bit as obnoxious and offensive as the article describes. The second paragraph is a real kicker, suggesting that teachers shouldn't grade papers with red ink because it frightens Koreans. How about the Koreans getting over their fear of red ink so they can get an education and function in American society?
Read this piece from a SWEDISH newspaper and tell us some more about the "winter paradise" that is Minnesota!
You hold up the Norse countries as the pregenetor to the lovely Minnesooootans and how diversity is so wonderful there, what happened in Sweden? These poor Muslim "kids" put off a train and the Swedish citizens AREN'T LINING UP to kiss their ass? Why?
Is it that you pulled the whole "Minnesota is the land of happy diversity" thesis out of your ass? Hmmmmm?
I hope you'all get back o track soon. Stories like this help. I love Bachmann, she speaks her mind. I'm SURE the leftists will try to eliminate her asap. Fight back!
Reread the post: Minnesota educators are LIVING Adolph Hitler's dream, that of subverting the youth.
Reading is FUNdemental!
How about (C) keep these Islamic scumbags OUT OF MINNESOTA and out of the U.S.?!
Ya – I pick (C)!
Tell us more about "diversity paradise" aka Sweden; you know like you just said, pulling it totally out of thin air:
Coggy quote: "general vibe of social harmony and goodwill is a reflection of similar national character of Norway and Sweden"
I've debunked that line of hogwash. Tell us more!
LOL!
Not so! I believe it is just the RIGHT time for Colonel West!!!
How do you know the Twin Cities campus would not agree with them?
That's a very scary statement!
Dear god!! I hope you fight like hell!!!
You should have STOOD up and made your objections CLEAR!!!

Yes,, i am sure MSNBC and CNN are on it, it should be on tonight news
I just contributed to him, even though I do not live in Fla We have to support the principled ones and let the chips fall….
Coggy says " I think the general vibe of social harmony and goodwill is a reflection of similar national character of Norway and Sweden."
You are saying that we need to be more like Minnesota, which because of it's stong Nordic roots – is just happy, happy, happy – I say your WRONG about Sweden and prove it. Try again!
See above
You all voted fro Change, like "American idle it was the think to do".. Well live with it, you got your change!!! This was no surprise, next time you hear a politician talk, get off the "he is a great speaker crap" and listen to what he was saying.
Try again! thelocal : "Afghan teens dumped in Swedish forest"
Even Minnesotans were not foolish enough to actually elect Franken. He stole the vote, right in front of God and everyone. Don't you all remember? THAT'S WHY DEMOCRATS ARE NOT WORRIED BY THE POLLS, and are forcing legislation the clear majority of Americans don't want.
Don't you all see what's going on? Since the Feds paid for the states to "upgrade" to paperless, touch-screen and 'idiot-proof' voting machines that any high school tech nerd could hack, the polls have been manipulated in key precincts around the country. Like Ohio. "Progressives" (whether R or D) control the judges and polls in key precincts across the nation.
Don't believe me? Watch Reid and Pelosi get "re-elected."
IDIOTS IN MINNESOTA! TRY TEACHING YOUR STUDENTS THE CONSTITUTION AND AMERICAN HISTORY! That way the students will learn what it took to live in THE FREEST GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH! IF NOT, WHY DON'T THEY GO TO SOMOLIA TO TEACH? That way they can push their anti-american crap to people even dumber than they are! WAKE UP MINNESOTA! You are starting to look even dumber than MASSACHUSETTS and CALIFORNIA!

You pulled that out of your ass, I've supplied AMPLE evidense that YOU'RE WRONG!
Travel louge bunk touting "diversity and cheery faces" in Sweden DOESN'T MAKE IT TRUE.
Pathetic. I caught you manufacturing "truth" and you're squirming to twist your way out of it.
"Ample evidence exists that not ALL Swedes are aboard the Diversity Train!"

What BUNK!
I see your point, but only regarding race. My point was that the process is working as Hitler envisioned. Forget teaching fact, logic and reason; indoctrinate the youth on emotional issues. Where, after all, does "cultural competence" come into play with grammar, spelling and math? It doesn't.
To that extent, Hitler would be proud.
Thanks, maybe I could use it too.

Taking somebody's child and filling them with propaganda is child abuse. It just is.
Hey dumb a s s… I think people here are smart enough to read my WHOLE original post rather than your context-limited snippet.
but whatever, go ahead and make it seem like we are disagreeing more than we are. Just wondering why you are so hostile about all this.
"Minnesota is "happyland" or not "happyland". What is it? LOL!"
Historically: Happyland
Presently: less and less.
Which is what I clearly stated in my original post.
Hitler used race as a path to power. If it hadn't been that it would have been something else. It was a ginned up crisis.
Better yet, do both simultaneously. This was how the Communists got a stranglehold on us to begin with. Now they want to start the second wave of the assault, since we allowed the first attempt to be so successful. Are we starting to see the ugly agenda of the "politically correct" movement yet? It was designed to stifle all dissent against this Commie BS. Thank you, Big Government, for being a light in a dark place.
*I can honestly say that this is the first time I have ever been pro "Big Government"!
Linda wonders what is happening to our country. My dear, it is not a conspiracy nor an accident, but rather a long term hideous vision of "human" civilization. Follow the link, read the list (from 1963!) and reflect on the current party in power. Many of your questions will be answered.
http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm
Sorry, you'll have to copy & paste. Something is up with my browser…
I just sent this university an email, HIGHLY recommending them to change their position. If ANYONE is anti-American, they ARE a communist and terrorist. And with anti-Americans trying to blow themselves up on planes, I HIGHLY recommend this university change their position and retract their statement or else this university WILL face problems. I have a lot of friends involved with the militia and they hate "anti-Americans". And they are willing to do what ever it takes to protect the American flag!
Linda, here is a list from 1963.
http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm
Think about who is in charge now and ask yourself if all of the insanity from the 60's "protest" movements up to the present day doesn't make a little more sense now. This what happens when people don't pay sufficient attention or, when those who do, allow themselves to be intimidated. Our lovely Republican party has "compromised" away a lot of our liberty instead of repudiating this evil.
Great article. Name some names and show their pictures. By embarassing them publicly you can dimish their chances of moving up the ladder in the academic world.
As a parent who put my daughter through Los Angeles public school system, I can tell you this way of thinking already seems permeated amongst many educators here.
I have a friend who's a child development professor in LA, and is totally immersed in everything about America is racist, etc. I only discovered her anti-America indoctrination (she speaks in education jargon so thick I could hardly understand her), after she recommended a charter school that was so deep into indoctrinating the kids in socialistic thinking, I pulled my daughter out only a month later.
As the class parent, I saw first hand how they indoctrinated the kids: They shunned ANY form of competition; even to the point of the school Director oh-so-gently (as to not hurt their self-esteem) running out to correct kids to not yell "We're number one" to an opposing soccer team because that would hurt the other team's feelings; the kids did absolutely no school work, as they were too busy sitting in circles talking about their self-esteem issues; but he final straw came for me when I asked why no work was being done and the school Director blamed some unruly students – who vandalized the school and were still allowed to stay, again due to not wanting to hurt the vandals' self esteem. I said, "Kick 'em out. My daughter deserves to have an education," which the Director found unreasonable. So I pulled my kid out.
I then mentioned this to my child development professor friend who had recommended this little school of socialism. That's when all her feelings about how violent and racist America is came out in a big lecture to me (I'm someone who's traveled the world with my hippie parents, lived in poverty, had friends of all races). I had to laugh, I was being lectured to by a college educated chick from a wealthy family from Wisconsin.
That experience was so eye-opening, I stopped being an apolitical Democrat and became a very aware Independent with conservative leanings. Until then, I'd never realized my own organic beliefs about how immersing children in victim-hood is the most crippling thing educators could possibly do to children.
Agreed! Let's start with defunding the National Dept. of Education. The control of schools needs to return to states and local school districts.
I propose that these people on your school board be required to visit an Islamic nation before they are even permitted to suggest the idea of studying their "culture". What would be infinitely better is if these educators taught our own nations history and laws rather than that of a violent "culture" such as Islam.
that's just the article's claim. Who knows what these teachers are really teaching them. more misinformation here than actual data.
Not unlike New Orleans here in Louisiana. How else do you think we keep ending up with "representatives" like William Jefferson and Mary Landrieu.
WARNING:
other "lists" being kept…
by those who love this country.
Do not hire U of Minn graduates…..
Rush Limbaugh once proudly proclaimed on his show that: "we conservatives do not want get involved and control things, we just want to be left alone and do what we do best as individuals". This silly outdated and archaic conservative way of dealing with 21st century America is what brought us to where we are now. The liberal, on the other hand, is involved in PTA's, writing school text books, designing college courses, becoming journalists, etc. Sorry Rush, you conservatives need to drop this Jerimahia Johnson philosophy and encourage people to get involved in those entities that make up our complex society. All you white conservatives need to get out of your gated communities and get a little dirty. We Reagan Democrats can not do it by ourselves.
Excuse me, but Tim Pawlenty is governor of MN. You mean to tell me there is nothing he can do about this? Why would I even consider him presidential material if he first allowed Al Franken and Acorn to steal the senate seat away from Norm Coleman without even mentioning that the vote was rigged and now he allows this to happen?
Keep up the good work. I only wish we had a Soros so he could financially support such actions. My daughter just started her teaching career (3rd yr) in Chicago. I have taken it upon myself to make sure she isn't indoctrinated. Again, good luck
Bill Ayers is working on indoctrinating the kids in the Madison WI school district at the current time, using our tax dollars. So much for him being the guy down the street whose daughter was in the same school as ObaMao's.
Please, what ever you do, do not go over to the Middle east and spew such "enlightenment" to Muslims about Christianity. Science and math? we don't care about such things in our politically correct school systems where they now have important classes like "White Guilt 101".
MUST GET YOUR MIND RIGHT!! Would you call this an indoctrination camp? Colleges for the most part are left leaning and teach what a rotten country the USA is. Now they want to prepare the NEW teachers to indoctrinate our children. There are the videos of children being indoctrinated by singing and praising Barack Hussein Obama. What was it that Michelle Obama said, "for the first time in my life I'm proud of my country because hope is making a comeback." Just shows you the mindset of these people.
This is an easy one as far as who to blame. Liberal zombie Hollywood types…and we know who they are…nuff said.
The last line says it all. That is the precise goal. Why they want to turn us into Eastern Europe instead of just moving there themselves, is beyond me.
Stop electing Democrats and Republicans. They all need to go. Term Limits now! Abolish the 9th Circuit court now. Audit and dissolve the Fed banksters now! You'd better wake up, folks. The two major parties are completely out of touch. America has devolved into an Orwellian police state governed by Left and Right Cover puppets who follow the marching orders handed to them by the CFR, Trilateral Commission, Bilderburger globalists who are dismantling this country. The planned deindustrialization has already taken place. Wait till people figure out the jobs aren't coming back. For God's sake, please stop voting for these people. DC needs to be repopulated with non career politicians loyal to the US. It's not about figuring out DC works. It's about figuring out how to make it stop working.
BARBARIC!
Okay, maybe some one FROM Minnesota can help me with something. I have heard some of what Ventura has done and said, and while I have not agreed with some of it, it seems pretty libertarian to me. What is it that makes him such a nut case, and/or puts him in the same category as the marxists mentioned. It was my understanding that fiscally, MN was better off when he was Governor, actually better then Pawlenty.
Challenging the happiness of "shock jocks"? You write "…in the last decade there's been a rise in a lot of racially-based discord vented by radio shock jocks around the twin cities." Are "shock jocks" everbody? Are they the bell weather in Minnesota? Snock jocks hate black people?
This article is about the "hate America" agenda being pushed by U.M. That's depicable.
You seemed to be defending this curricula. Are you? Why? Why do liberals HATE America. These Minnesota "educators" seem to, I'm befuddled.
Personal testimony: I have a cousin who lives in the Twin cities, and she is the perfect example of the clueless academic that permeates Minnesota. Although born of the study stock who founded the state with their insistence on personal responsibilty and dignity, this cousin has lost herself in the "oh so 'reasonable' response" to the nation's increasing slide into socialism…It may be that the ties to reletives in Norway, have incoctrinated her to complacency.and non-involvement and , Yes, Ignorance. Her primary reading and studying is confined to pre-9/11 history…in an "effort to understand what went wrong". But I know better than to expose her to the facts, lest she be anlienated from the family. She prefers her 1930-40 view of the world. Not an Obama supporter, she still believes he should be "given time"….when there is no time. It just isn't "reseasonable">
http://www.thefire.org/article/11420.html
Be responsible parents and home-school your kids. Don't turn them over to a USSA indoctrination center.
And from this, we have all learned that John can't read five pages. So why can't John(ny) read?
This type of invasion is throughout the country. Read David Limbaugh’s Persecution. It gives details of what is happening all over, not just Minnesota. He refers to banning any reference to Christianity and patriotism with what has already happened. The socialist leaning leaders are unapologetic to demean someone who loves their country and are faithful to their God. This is their plan. We need to wake up!
But he does have a point. Norway and Sweden were pretty uniform racially until the latter part of the 20th century, as was Minnesota. Now none of them are, and now all are experiencing societal discord. There has to be a way to teach teachers how to be sensitive to the diverse needs of American students while at the same time helping them to believe that each and every one of them can be a successful and productive citizen. Whether you like it or not, we are a nation of immigrants, descendants of immigrants. I'm not advocating illegal immigration. But all Americans, of every color and background, need to come together and revive the American dream. I too would like to see the original report. If this article is true, then I would condemn it. You can never create a strong nation by vilifying a segment of its citizens.
I probably would defend the curricula – I wish I knew that the curricula is! This blog doesn't do any direct referencing. Just to this other article. Its all hearsay as far I can tell.
We don't hate America. We love America and what it stands for. Why are you trying to ruin what American stands for?
"If this article is true, then I would condemn it. You can never create a strong nation by vilifying a segment of its citizens. "
agreed.
pro Big Government – ditto!
You were told – - –
"She told me it was just a study of their “culture” and not of their religion. "
What these ostriches are hiding their heads in the sand about is the fact that "their" culture is their religion and their religion is their culture. The two cannot be separated in islamic world view.
Hitler would be proud of them.
we won't be able to get anything on the right track until we clean up academia – they will just keep turning out more 'skulls full of mush.'
meantime, get your kids OUT of the public indoctrination centers. sacrifice and home school or send to a good private/religious schools.
as for college? research very carefully. your best bet would be conservative christian schools -you don't have to be a believer to go to most of them, but you will get a good education.
I understand that but advocating a "socialist utopia" doesn't work for me or many others here. Why should this country reorder itself for immigrants?
Push #1 for English? #2 for Espanol?
That not our country. My granfather came from Mexico, served in the U.S. Army in WWII and never gave a rats azz for Mexico our "preserving" a heritage he left as a boy. Ditto for my Irish great grandmother or my Polish great grandfather. they immigrated and left their cultures (for the most part – cooking and a few things came along) but the stopped being immigrants fairly quickly.
This "two tier" way of doinmg things stinks.
Be an American. These "immigrants" come in and suck the marrow of a country they despise, or are taught to despise.
The point of this article is that an American university is TEACHING students to HATE AMERICA.
I REJECT that. I reject the "progressive" school of thought that pushes the "hate America" agenda.
Minnesota – "Land of 10,000 Lakes", is no more. It is "The Gateway to the Entitlement Plantation". State song: "I don't wanna work, I wanna bang on the drum all day".
The author states quite clearly what a task force has
"What’s the task force’s main recommendation? That new teachers be immersed in a liberal political agenda that’s highly critical of American social norms, particularly the notion that all people can positively influence their own destiny through hard work and determination."
"More than anything, “future teachers must. . . recognize and denounce the fundamental injustices at the heart of American society,” the article said."
Come on, this is simple. It's in the article.
I'm from MN and my sister-in-law instructs teachers who are becoming certified. Believe me, it's excruciating for me to hear her and her educator friends talk about how they encourage "critical thinking" in their students. "Critical thinking" makes me cringe like the phrase "green jobs".
Secondly, don't lose hope in this state. We have a very strong and growing conservative movement and often our races are very close. Don't forget we had Coleman for Senator and still have, Bachmann in the House and Pawlenty for Governor.
…"the task force’s own vision of America as an oppressive hellhole: racist, sexist and homophobic,” ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Since when does anyone teach children that they cannot be successful??? Why would you want a generation of dumba$$es??? I hope the parents in Minnesota take their children OUT of public schools!!!
<This girl: From Minnesota, NOT Liberal, pays good money for my kids' schools and sends them there, not worried about them being "brainwashed" because I actually talk to them about the things they learn and what my views are on them. Voted for Coleman, as he was greatly the lesser of two evils. The other, Franken, got in on millions in tax dollars and a bunch of ballots that someone "forgot" in their backseat.
These comments have me more outraged than the post, the column and the stupid recommendations to the U of M directors combined. Those recommendations are inane and are, themselves, classist, racist and whateverthehelsist. And it's scary that this kind of oppression is right in my back yard. But then again, the column was written nearly a month ago and since then, action groups like FIRE have taken it on and are fighting it. Thank God. So now let's all gather and talk about old news and how "stupid" everyone in Minnesota is. While we're spelling like foreigners and b i t c h ing about old news. Because THEY are stupid. Because they're Swedish. …this is where this was going, right? Glad I took the time to read a whole post today. I needed to be reminded that I can't agree with anyone.
I am in Kalifornia too. Keep me posted and let me know if I can help.
Amen. I was just speaking to that issue a moment ago. If anyone wondered what political correctness was all about: this is it. To stifle all opposition to their Communist agenda. We need to root out this ideology wherever we find it before we are completely overrun.
McCarthy, I fear, was right after all.
For those who might think this claptrap is not threatening let me point out that a reference source is Howard Zinn. The man is pure evil and one of the culprits out to destroy America. If you are simply a leftist as in liberal that's fine but please understand that your movement has been usurped by socialists and communists. Just as Zero goes around the world apologizing for America as a secret Muslim in sheep's clothing, these education zoombies in Minnesota are about to steal the hearts and minds of our children. Next they will be forced to wear kerchiefs around their necks and 'turn in' their parents for unpatriotic behavior. Be afraid, be very, very afraid.
"What's this article here? It looks like its "reporting" on someone else's "reporting". …other than Brietbart telling us we're not supposed to like it!"
I suggest you read the article and then read the pdf. The author of the article gave some quotes and her opinion. . The pdf have some quote citations from selected authors, each giving their opinion, and then this board proceeds to write their "program" based on the citations. No facts, no data! It would be interesting to find out how exactly they plan to measure the outcome. One does wonder background of the authors they cited and if they were paid to write this nonsense. Bottomline – What the program appears to be geared toward is teaching teachers on how not to tell the truth. It's really quite audacious.
Speaking of audacious, Obama tried a similar ploy on gun-banning when he was a director of the Joyce Foundation. He's another mind-blower with his smoke and mirror orations. Climate-gate yet another. Most of it stems from – Agenda 21 – http://www.crossroad.to/text/articles/la21_198.ht...
PS: PZ Meyer, an Assoc Prof at the University of Minnesota', wrote his own opinion of the article on his blog, he headlined it – "The University of Minnesota has failed to enshrine racism in its policies!". He took a lot of interest despite his whining…. PZ Meyer is actually enshrined with the great blessing of shaping young peoples lives, yet he can't even offer a reasoned response, only name-call. This same professor called Catholic Holy Communion, "A FRACTIN CRACKER". What kind of a university hires and retains such people? They hurl insults like little kids yet purport to be so humane. They make no sense yet they're teaching our kids. People really need to be aware of what's going on in Education today and am looking forward to Andrews' new blog – Big Education.
When my own daughter was a child in school, we had a discussion about the liberal multicultural bias. I told her that if she wanted to get good grades, she should repeat what they wanted to hear, but to never believe any of it because it is crap. I'm proud to say she took it to heart.
You got it , brother. "We" shall overcome. I agree and will defend your freedom as long as my body has breath. God bless
No, brother . Send your childen to public school and then teach them a home. My 14 year old daughter asked me what a "homophobe" was. I told her that it is a made up word by the liberal P.C. leftists that dscribed the believers of God's law. You see, exposure does not mean education. God bless. Keep up the good fight.
Guest. I tell my own 14 year old daughter the same thing. Daily. An informed youth is a dangerous thing to our ruling party. God bless.
What's this article here? It looks like its "reporting" on someone else's "reporting". From reading this article, I can't tell anything about what this supposedly liberal in itiative is doing…other than Brietbarts telling us we're not suppose to like it!
You continue to show your profound unwillingness to learn.
A link to the report is in the article. Read it for yourself!
The sheer hysteria liberals have with race and multiculturalism is the core of the disintegration of the US.
Page 8 exemplifies their absurdity and derangement.
At once you are to identify and study culturally distinct groups BUT remember there is a wide range of characteristics within any cultural group (you mean all blacks aren't the same, all Hispanics aren't the same, all whites aren't the same?) . But hold on–this wide range of different characteristics within any cultural group can be as significant as differences between cultural groups.
In other words, for numerous reasons, some Hispanic kid might have more in common with a white or black kid than other Hispanic kids.
Even more absurd, after identifying distinct characteristics based on cultural backgrounds, skin color, etc., and learning how to relate to these kids based on these differences, teachers should be careful not to stereotype!!!.
Of course, there's the requisite leftist victim-hood. That;s right; the American Dream is a fallacy for you minorities and we liberals will make sure you never dare to believe you can achieve it. Thank God my immigrant grandfather who came with nothing and was shunned by the Irish arrived before these liberals got a hold of him.
And these teachers will learn in their analysis of America, among other things, the myth of meritocracy in the United States. This, coming from fervent advocates of Affirmative Action.
Get a clue; the US is a land of immigrants and there has always been cultural differences and animosity between different groups. Assimilation and a melting pot of Americans is what it used to be about. Now, liberals strive to turn it into a country of divisions.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
This person is a site troll. Not the first time he's tried to people up on this site. Typical of liberals.
Liberal do-gooder is an oxymoron.
Again, you continue to epitomize the dumbed-down liberal. The report is linked right in the article. Your lack of curiosity for knowledge is embarrassing.
I was an apolitical Independent. I was even at 3 each in presidential elections (3 Dems in a row prior to 2008). My eyes were really opened these last couple of years and now I'm firmly sitting to the right. Victim-hood, all about feelings, lowering of the bar/low expectations, etc. is the path to disaster, whether in the context of raising children or as policies within government.
Is this Dave the cab driver that sometimes phones in to the Jason Lewis show?
I couldn't agree with you more that the children MUST be taken out of the custody of Government Schools, or failing that, concerned citizens must bombard the school trustees, school boards, educational ministries, etc etc.
I don't have any kids but since the release of the ClimateGate emails, I have been peppering the various educational authorities to attempt to get them to remove any and all references to man made climate change from the curriculum. I advise everyone here to do the same, and to get all of your friends to do the same.
I am not sure whether I am going to succeed in my quest, but I am having fun responding to their various talking point replies, pointing out the sheer ignorance of their claims.
it needs to be done at the same time.
Minnesotans have sunk pretty low from the days of Hubert Humphrey!
This post is a jokecomplaining! It is poorly written, even as a piece of hysterical rhetoric. If all you paranoids don’t like the public school teachers, send your kids to private school. Achieve the “American Dream” and stop complainia
Minnesota still has one of the highest standards of living in the country, precisely because of its legacy of a liberal approach to policy issues.
If you’re not from Minnesota, butt out of our affairs, NOW!
If you are, take a look at what outsiders have been doing to our state for a generation: Trying to make it as inhospitable a place to live as the rest of the country!
To quote your VP Cheney – who profaned the floor of the Senate- Go fuck yourselves, Republicans!

It's been a long time since I wrote a 'Dear John' letter but here goes. It's probably more my fault then yours but we must break up. You are a dear man and often times quite tender. On the other hand you are too easily influenced by leftists who are out to destroy our country and its ideals. America is a great country but the guilty feelings of leftists have entered our consciousness like a virus. It must be stopped and indeed cut out down to the roots. John, I know that in your heart you are not a leftist but by allowing them to crawl into our tent means you are threatening our safety and future of our unborn children. Let me make this clear: piss off.
It is in the article, but is the article correct? If so, I condemn the curricula. However, there seems to be no way to know if it's true. Look, I'm as tired as you of people running our nation down, zeroing in on nothing but the flaws. I don't want to live under a Marxist or Muslim regime, nor do I want to go back and institute the past sins of racism. The latter will only divide and destroy us, leaving us easy prey for the former, who know very well how to use such tools. Already we are caught between the hammer and the anvil.
In the era of modern transportation, there is no reason to have a public school system. All Schools should be privatized.
Please remember; the stupid referenced are the liberal Minnesotans. Also, this may be old news to you but it's new to others. Also, I'm from Illinois and I even say that people here are idiots. Of course, I'm not referring to myself or like-minded Illinoisans, but the people who keep electing the buffoons who are destroying IL.
Yeah, that's right! Don't complain about how our own tax dollars are being used to create a victim-hood society. Got it! Lots of African American families in Washington DC would like to achieve the "American Dream" by having vouchers so their kids can leave horrible, dangerous schoola and attend private schools (like Obama's kids attend), but Obama and the Dems won't allow it. But, wait! I thought they were the party of the underdog, for the downtrodden, the party of compassion. Not so much, huh?
Mike Anderson, your ignorance and apathy are exactly why our schools are in this condition.
PS, before you post a comment about "poorly written", please proofread your own writing.
You're an ignorant fool. I live in California, where I've already seen first hand where your state is heading. So I should just shut up?
Typical ignorant fool… keep up the below average work.
All right, since you appear to be a self-proclaimed expert on my state, I'm curious; is it the "higher standard of living" that attracted the "minority groups" (nice euphemism, by the way), or my state's amazingly generous welfare benefits that allow them to collect unemployment at my expense without actually…oh, what's the term…working? Have you actually seen the neighborhoods where these "minority groups" reside, and the associated urban statistics? I certainly have, and as a oh-so-proud graduate of the institution mentioned in this story, I can tell you that the groups you appear to defend as helpless minorities have little to no interest in their own welfare, relying instead on state benefits.
I would also like you to state, by example, just which Twin Cities (note correct capitalization) radio hosts used any racial epithets by date in the last decade, and do these incidents actually constitute "a lot"?
(con't below)
(con't from previous comment)
Furthermore, given that the Twin Cities (again note the grammar) has historically successfully seen Hispanic and Hmong populations move into the greater TC metro area over the past sixty years, and it has only been since the rise of the Great Society that there has been this blinding "need" for "special training", I want to know why it is that you find that THIS task force's report is the correct way to implement what my state's entire public school system should use to handle racial matters *right now*. If you were honestly as familiar with my state as you purport to be, you would would at least be honest enough to admit that there IS no immediate crisis requiring this document in the schools, and that this is a purely political move on the part of the School of Education at the U of MN.
Golden Gopher, class of '02
Finally, as a resident of MN, I take great issue with your characterization of us as happy little blonde Scandinavians willing to cooperate in our own mini-welfare state until those nasty darkies show up…THEN we turn into frothing racists! Your asinine ignorance and rank stupidity disgusts me, but it certainly does not surprise me. You are an intellectual coward of the first order.
This post is a joke! It is poorly written, even as a piece of hysterical rhetoric. None of the claims are substantiated. It's just a regurgitation of right-wing nut Kersten's writing, wrapped in eighth-grade style faked incredulity. If all you paranoids don't like the public school teachers, send your kids to private school. Achieve the vaunted "American Dream" that you claim is within everyone's reach and stop complaining about other people. . .
I have lived in Minnesota since 1980. My wife and I have raised 2 kids here. The local public school district in a suburb of Minneapolis failed them both. We now have a grandaughter. We are sending her to a private school.
There is NO WAY IN HELL we would allow her to attend public school in the Osseo School District where we live.
Teaching your little liberal spawn to hate America is a national issue not a Minnesota issue stupid progressive loon. I will take it upon myself to teach every child in class to hate Minnesotans with a vengeance especially for their hate of America. If it ok to teach your little kids to hate then others can do the same back at you.
Minnesota suxs major league.
Minnesota SUCKS . See two can play that stupid game.
Please, by all means, teach your little shits to hate Minnesota. That way, they won’t come here! We Minnesotans don’t need, or like, you either!!
The USA is an increasingly crappy place, in every respect. Leave Minnesota alone! Our state should have seceded in the 1970’s before economic and cultural pollution from the rest of the country started to seep in. . .
Texas teachers warned against being 'heterosexist'
'We must help people to become committed to social change'
One warns that "teachers and administrators must be held accountable for practices deemed to be racist, sexist, heterosexist, classist, or in any other way discriminatory." And a second warned that educators must not define education as the basic skills.
"How do we create a better world? How do we do more than simply survive? As educators, we must help people to become committed to social change," the article demanded. [...]

Gasp! They're now in Texas…they're serious and we need to get just as serious.
U of Minnesota's ed-school travesty

[...]After we exposed the university's plans to the public, the university's general counsel finally promised us that the university will never "mandate any particular beliefs, or screen out people with 'wrong beliefs' from the University." Let's hold the University of Minnesota to that truly liberal promise.[...]

When this crowd were exposed by the NYP they melted into a pile of jello because they had nada back up. Kyle's article is exposing the other silly lot and when Big Education arrives watch out.
Mike Anderson, you need to write to the NY Post and tell them to "Leave Minnesota alone". lol
Minnesota is a crappy state. See two can play that game.

We have. And you're just not up to snuff on this one.
Again.
You love to select sites selectively and that means those spouting mantra.
This approach is right out of Hitler's tactics and you fail to mention how this approach fails every time it's tried.
Yes, but he is sadly consistent.
From this article, it appears that Minnesota is way behind the rest of the institutions of higher propaganda/brainwashing education departments in America.
He had his GPA to worry about.
Privilege to succeed means 'indoctrinated' in this case.
John, Kersten is spot on and you are dead wrong. To quote Joe Wilson, "You lie"!
MJ – I'm from Minnesota and I will be apologizing for our having elected both Franken and Ventura until the day I die – despite the fact that I didn't vote for either of them.
It's gotten to the point that I'm embarassed to admit I live here!
Jeez, Mike. You sound like one of those mad-mullahs from Iran, claiming that all of Iran's problems are due to "foreign influences" Likewise, all of Minnesota's problems are due to "outsiders".
Typical liberal, claiming it's not their fault! Someone else is to blame!! We're all just victims!
Please, enough! I hear this blame-game crap from "The One" every day. Give it a rest.
Great post, @h8groupthink. Thumbs up for the truth. It's important that more people should be aware of the dark indoctrination of children by Marxist-oriented educators in the public school system.
Minnesota: Land of 10,000 Retards
I didn't know that racism was ever an issue in Minnesota.
I know that marxism never works, and wouldn't even wish it on 1,000 lakes.
It's not working so well, is it?
Another failure for the left.
Even is they snatch the kids and regulate private business out of business, socialism still fails in the long run.
Hey Roger, I wish I had a dime for all of the places in this world that you DON'T KNOW that racism was ever an issue at. I wonder if you've ever noticed that there is racism on the internet? On some websites and chat boards more than others.
yawn.
yes folks. I have my loyal detractors. you showed up a little late on this thread. Are you "the closer"?
"It's not working so well, is it?"
there is plenty of room for improvement. That is the point of this teacher program. We've heard very little about it (very few "facts" as you have been programmed to proclaim), despite all of the condemning. (which is the only real goal of this blog. "here folks. This is bad. Here's quotes from a different article saying its bad, and we're going to use our paranoid imaginations to think about how bad it may even be now, by the time you are reading it here! And remember folks, we are telling you to hate this stuff because its BAD! (*trust us*)
"This approach is right out of Hitler's tactics"
You mean the approach of youth education? Roger, a lot of folks were pro-youth-education. It's not a bad thing. Bashing "youth education" just because Hitler did it… you might as well start chanting that government should stop building roads or something. The youth need to be educated. So Hitler took that and twisted it to something horrible. I 100% agree with you. What are the implications of that factoid? No education for inner city children? No immigration of people that move to inner cities? Perhaps, no interstate freedom or a 2nd class system? Talk about what Hitler proposed!
And for what its worth: Sorry but, I don't think that Hitler ever proposed any nicey-nicey education of ghetto-restricted minority groups we can all think of. Perhaps the Soviets did, but again… so what? What do you say needs to be different for America for our educational policies if this is such a big important factoid to you? The concept I am emphasizing is: If you point out a problem, then in fairness, I'm interested to hear from you what you think we could be doing different or better.
PS. Shall we talk about things that Hitler did that I'm reminded of in our own society?
"You love to select sites selectively and that means those spouting mantra."
wow Roger! That's true! What's so funny is that I was just noticing that you do too!
"You love to select sites selectively and that means those spouting mantra."
wow Roger! That's true! What's so funny is that I was just noticing that you do too!
if your point is that all liberals are do-gooders… okay, I don't think its true but say it was. What is wrong, exactly, about doing good things? I think that part of your concept needs some better explanation, please.
I think the real way to know for sure what is going on and to help make sure that the work is taking us all in the right direction… is to get involved.
Is there a preponderance of old hippies that have (for lack of competitive corporate-style high wage type job experience) infiltrated our public school's teacher population? Probably. So what? They are old hippies. I think any kid of mine will be smart enough go through the class and not come out an idiot. it doesn't seem like its that hard to avoid a problem if that is the concern. Oh, its the kids of the people down the street- on the other side of the tracks? Its their kids that might be getting recruited by the teachers straight into next-gen Black Panther groups? I say: Look, if that is really anywhere near a concern, then its not hard to get involved with your communities school board.
Another suggestion: If you really want to phase out all the old hippies, then just pay teachers more. Ex Doctors, Lawyers and Engineer types will be happy to teach. Benz payments you know!
Heck: Another way you can "get involved" is do an Anti-ACORN style EXPOSE on these nice Minnesotan folks. Seriously. It would almost be funny if you pulled it off. The bottom line for me is: well, if you could pull it off, then I'd like to know about it.
Only for the simple minded.
But we understand.
Programs like this have been tried and fail.
The test results for progressive education in California alone show how failed progressive techniques are. Facts are my friends.
That must really steam you, doesn't it?
Read the article, and it will be pretty clear what tactics I'm speaking of.
Oh, are there too many big words?
Have your bosnian wife help you with those. Perhaps she learned under communism before Yugoslavia fell, she'll know the code words and phrases to look for.
No, you can't deal with facts, so you mislabel them.
No, I'm laughing to hard to type very well.
But you did get that comment in for an easy point. And you're probably hoping it won't get voted down like everything else you try to spew here.
These teaching techniques end up with lower test scores.
Read the last 30 years worth in California and weep.
And some just have 'stupid' clinging to them like trolls.
I lived in Sacramento California in the not too distant past when it was one of the most racially integrated cities in the country. You know what it takes to get past it? For people to realize it's today that matters and to let the past slip into the past.
Sharpton would have a cow if that happened. And so would the democrat party.
They want to return a lot of people to the days with universal healthcare, until the mean old republicans freed the slaves.
It is a bad thing.
It's called indoctrination.
When a government is supported by the people they don't need to get into the minds of the youth. They just let the youth support things of their own free unfiltered will.
The problem is they do good with someone else's money.
And at the expense of everyone else's liberties.
Okay, fine, a reasonable disclaimer here. I've never been to the Twin Cities except for a two hour wait on the tarmac one time. I'm sure that its a very nice place. Sorry also if you don't like any implied characterization that doesn't sound that great. I based my entire comment on a bit of low brow political theory and also a news segment I saw a few years back.
Draw whatever conclusion from these observations:
Nations with homogenized ethnic and religious profiles seem to get on better. High standard of living,
Socialism (or collective action) seems to be less of an objection from a lot of said countries. (I'm thinking of Japan, Northern Europe, Switzerland… its probably a limited number of examples of this, more and more countries are getting more and more diverse anyway.)
Maybe there's something to that, maybe not.
I had to really research this to figure out where I had heard about this DJ, but I believe it was Babara Carlson on KSTP a while back. I don't know of all the details but it sounds like there was some unpleasantness between some sides. Note I never indicated that any racial epithets were used. I'm sure the mix-up was handled with the white gloves on.
I think there is an immediate crisis connected to poor immigrant youth in Minneapolis:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?stor...
I think that's overdoing what I was saying or inferring. All I'm pointing out is that there have been civic tensions in the Twin Cities for going back a few years now. So an educational department at a local University is doing something about that… and we are supposed to be up in arms? Why?
what teaching techniques pray tell?
James so do we all. So do we all. Now, what I would be very interested in seeing here, in the spirit of journalistic basic standards, is evidence of such a school of thought. One that is actually being practiced in the real world, and not just here in the figment of a swamp fever dream.
You guys claim to be fact based- so please, where is the evidence? CERTAINLY NOT in the above blog post.
A period ending 3 years ago. And it's still one of the most integrated and racially friendly cities.
People there just don't care what color you are, they care about how you treat them. A much better way to look at it, and in line with Martin Luther King.
I'm saying that under slavery there was universal healthcare for the slaves.
And I'm also implying that if we are cared for that much, we'd be just about as free as the slaves were.
See, I did live in California.
But I never listened to NPR.
what's funny is how much your anti-nazi logo still has a lot of the same visual effect as the original.
Yes, Roger, that's interesting that you brought up Sacramento. I'm curious: what is the period of Sacramento's history that you are referencing? I'm just curious what the demographics were like at the end point of that period.
So you are suggesting that universal healthcare will restore slavery? How does not having health care enhance having freedom?
Yes, it's ALL of Minnesota, you moron. Guess what? ALL off Minnesota HATES you, too. And we outnumber you. Even us conservatives in MN who hate you [you, specifically, "antilbtard"] outnumber you. I highly doubt someone as small minded as you has access to children. If you do, I'm sure there is some kind of probation violation involved. Guess what? Not much difference between a retarded liberal and a retarded conservative. In the end, you're still a bunch of retards.
Considering our population is 5,167,100, I'd venture to say that by your definition, there are a few more than 10,000. Sadly, they are all somehow tied to the government.
Re Sacremento… I did some following up on this and: wow, its really true. Thank you for pointing this out. In your opinion, what is it about Sacramento's culture that gives it this harmony?
From Wikipedia: "Sacramento is notably diverse racially, ethnically, and by household income, and has a notable lack of interracial disharmony. In 2002, Time magazine and the Civil Rights Project of Harvard University identified Sacramento as the most racially/ethnically integrated major city in America. The U.S. Census Bureau also groups Sacramento with other U.S. cities having a "High Diversity" rating of the diversity index."
Re: universal health care equating to slavery, I disagree. There are many modern nations that have (and will still have) more universally provided coverage than the US, and there people are not slaves.
Let's have a scenario with specifics.
Lets pretend you know a 42 year old disabled lady, who's family has a history of breast cancer. She goes to her dr for a mamogram, as the cancer society suggests.
Guess what will happen? No mamogram. If her dad says "I'll pay for it, I lost your mother to breast cancer, and I want to know you won't die that way too…" He can't. Medicare patients can't pay for treatments that medicare won't approve. Medicare guidelines have enslaved them.
We could use semantics all day here. But a move towards tyranny is a bad thing.
without delving into how realistic / unrealistic your scenario is there… say that's all true.
Your deflection about "semantics" is baloney. You are describing a lousy health care situation. Its not a good thing (especially for the lady), but don't get carried away and start calling it slavery and tyranny. You are "crying wolf".
Roger,
If I allow that the case you described is slavery or tyranny, well then we must already be in a state of slavery and tyranny all along anyway.
There are plenty of 42 year old women in America today who are not able to get mammograms. Per your logic, this is tyranny, and slavery, in America today.
Nope, any woman can walk into any number of places and get affordable healthcare. In country clinics, in non-profit church run hospitals.
Give me a city and I'll google and find you a place for those women who need care.
And just because we've started down a slippery slope doesn't make it right, or something we should hope for.
How do you feel it failed them, John? In that part of the cities, Osseo is the best district, so that's pretty worrisome to hear that it absolutely failed both of your children.
you are really going to try to play the "every American can go into an emergency room and get heath-care" card on me?!
LOOK, YOU BROUGHT UP THE MAMMOGRAM EXAMPLE AND SAID IF THIS WOMAN CAN'T GET ONE THEN ITS "SLAVERY".
You show me where in America today ANY 43 year old American woman can get a mammogram! Go google any city you like.
Pluh-eezz!
All right. Fine, have it your way.
Fine, ignore what you will. But it's the system in a very specific case as Obama's healthcare system would play out.
You can't defend it, so you want to keep attention focused anywhere else.
So, let's move right along. What is freedom? It's not a 'concept' it's the ability to make choices of your own. It never takes accountability out of it, but still allows personal choices.
This of 'abortion'. It's a freedom that women have. If you take choices away from us, then it's imposing tyranny.
It's not semantics, it's real world life. And we as Americans are losing freedoms and having tyranny imposed. Slavery? That's not only when choices are gone but when rewards for labor is taken too. And with our staggering tax burden it's close to slavery in every sense of the word.
The good part is that you were aware of the Brainwashing. Critical thinking is the antidote to brainwashing. Kudos to you and I wish you well in the future.
Fallacy of False Cause, my friend. Just because Minnesota is experiencing societal discord now, doesn't necessarily mean that it is caused by racial diversity. It could be, but without further research we cannot assume that.

I WILL DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO GET MY STUDENTS TO PASS ALGEBRA ! If I have to talk the talk I do it, because teaching the way I learned it doesn't work for all my students. As an anthropologist who minored in math, I have a unique perspective. Understanding the various cultures in my class helps my students pass. Most Math teachers are visual learners, as I was. I have learned to be an auditory teacher, which helps my students. Lighten up people, understanding various cultures, helps teachers. It doesn't make them political.
