SEIU’s Pay-to-Play Politics Key to Understanding its Salivation Over ObamaCare
by Kyle OlsonThe Service Employees International Union has demonstrated a history of blatant “pay-to-play” political tactics. And “pay-to-play” is probably why the SEIU has been at the forefront of promoting ObamaCare, with a “robust” public option.

In 2002, the union spent well over $1 million and worked tirelessly getting Rod Blagojevich elected governor of Illinois. Shortly after he was sworn in, he signed an executive order, allowing SEIU to unionize 20,000 state health care employees. It was the first such move by any governor on SEIU’s behalf. Dozens of campaign contributions from the SEIU to Blogojevich are compiled in a list posted on shopfloor.org, a blog maintained by the National Association of Manufacturers.
In 2000, SEIU worked aggressively to elect Bob Holden governor of Missouri. The reasoning? In the words of “A St. Louis labor activist:”
The state council here used to be headed up by Grant Williams, a former ACORN organizer who got into the SEIU by way of ACORN’s SEIU local and rose to become an international vice president in the union. His strategy was to campaign heavily for certain Democratic politicians and rely on them to hand him members. In 2000 he backed Bob Holden, who won the race for governor. One of Holden’s first acts was to sign an executive order granting the SEIU the right to have agency fees automatically deducted from the checks of state workers. After that, Williams had to keep backing Holden’s camp in order to defend the executive order.
So as SEIU is working so aggressively to pass ObamaCare with a government-run health plan, it’s not because the union gives two hoots about the uninsured. Andy Stern wants his self-admitted $60 million investment in electing Obama to pay off. And if SEIU’s past is any indication, Stern will be at the front of the line to unionize all those new government bureaucrats overseeing ObamaCare.

Pretty much just goes to prove that it is not about health cares at all. It is about power and control. When will the liberals ever learn that we cannot out socialist the socialists or out marxist the marxists. It is just not imbedded in the fabric of America. But they will do everything in their power to pull apart that fabric, thread by thread, if they have to.
I couldn't agree more but in actuality I don't think the health care thing has much of a chance. What needs to happen is a complete halt to spending and give the small businesses a tax cut and reduce capital gains taxes. No way will this happen of course. Too Bad!!!

I am so sick of hearing about these unions like SEIU controlling the rest of America!
I think it is time for Americans fed up with this current government to create our own lobbyist so we finally get represented because it is obvious at this point that the only thing that gets attention of politicians in Washington is money.
So, how about we donate money to get lobbyist to get politicians to vote on policies to get our country back? There are more of us than them (SEIU, ACORN, Al Gore, and others throwing money at politicians) and if we all donated even a few dollars we could get more money to lobby them out.
Money talks. I think it's time to scream with your money. Maybe then we'll be able to destroy this cancer that is eating up our country?
All of these questions could be answered if we knew why Obama was selected to be POTUS and who he really is.
It is not about health care any more that the newest summit was about creating jobs. It is about making this country a communist country. SEIU as all unions have a communist bent, they have supported Obie and all his corrupt buddies and now they need their rewards. The only jobs that will be created will be union jobs and unionized govt jobs. That is why business communities were not part of the discussion. Health care is about the gvt control of it. It will not save a penny, it will not improve health care, it will make the gvt a monstrosity that we can no longer control. If it was about health care the first thing to lower cost would be to make purchases of insurance across state lines. Not part of it. Second thing is control the cost of law suits and the protections medical institutions have to have in place , not part of it. That tells us all we need to know. We need to stop it, we need to get rid of this gvt asap.
Reaganomics–that's what we need now! But if Obama magically comes to admit that he needs to cut payroll and other taxes for them, then watch out for revisionist history…all of a sudden it will be known as Obamanomics or "Obama's tax cuts"…Just like everyone had failed to mention Reagan at the Fall of the Wall last month…
SEIU and ACORN are two parts of a larger, corrupt, devious organization, that is out to line their own pockets, NOT the pockets of most who work for it, mind, but the higher ups, as well as to destroy this nation.
The ONLY way that anything will ever be done to these people/organizations, is to do everything possible to get GOP majorities on both House, in 2010 and unseat Obama in 2012 !
That larger, corrupt, devious organization you are referring wouldn't happen to be more commonly known as the Democratic Party now would it?? Less than 1 year now…
Best info I have says we currently have 16 million union members in US, and the goal at WH and SEIU is to double that to 30 million union members in the next few years…thus making them loyal to Dem Progressive party, and fueling their warchest of 1 billion dollars for future political campaigns. Simply put, WH czars and czarinas are the best corrupt money can buy. SEIU wants choice act to intimidate voters to join their union — hospital workers, govt. employees, service type employees — guess where the stimulus package is trying to save or create jobs??? Healthcare, Cap and Tax, Public employees replacing Private contractor employees..all adds up to one thing….Facism and ObaMusollini Mussolini was able to shut down hostile newspapers and to make the remaining press subservient to his government's authority. And the Fascists were strong enough as a parliamentary force that they were able to outlaw rival political parties. To the applause of the nation, Mussolini spoke of the putrefying corpse of liberty. His government emphasized the virtues of militarism along with the fascist credo, "Together we are strong!" Boys and girls of all ages were enrolled in semi-military formations, given black shirts, toy machine guns and taught loyalty to the state.
It sure would be!
True, 2010 can't come fast enough, to suit me. And I can't face three more yhears of the MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE/empty suit.
I once thought that I couldn't live through Clinton's two terms, but that was a piece of cake, compared to this!
On my way around town today, I saw three, yes three different Unions picketing their employers. Now I am no expert on these sorts of things, (well maybe just a little) who in the HELL goes on strike in times like these? There are between 10 and 15% unemployed, what do these people know? That the average person may not?
SEIU is like a Stage II cancer, if we get rid of it now, we stand a chance. If we let it progress, Capitalism will be dead! I don't know if we have the strenght to fight it after being diagnosed with Fanny Mae, Freddie Mac, GM, Cap & Trade, Cash for Clunkers, Tarp, Stimulous and God only knows what else! These are some frightening times my friends!
It is many of the unions, if they don't contribute directly to HCAN, they contribute to SEIU and they probably do it for them. If you search here for the payee "HCAN" "UHCAN" "Universal Healthcare" among other related things, you'll see it. Or search Payee "SEIU" and you'll see it.

My degree is in Labor Relations and I get the union job listings from school as an alum, right after the election, the SEIU was trying to organize. Now that their name is tarnished, it is these groups (also connected to the SEIU and Acorn.) When they know people are on to them, they change names.

Easy, BO is the face & mouth piece chosen by unions, socialists & communists to give them legitimacy in the White House as to push their agenda. The real questions are, who are all the faces behind him pulling the strings & how deep into the government, over all, do we need to go to clean the infestation out?
Bring it Barack and Andy I live in Elgin, Illinois if you got the guts to come to my house
(1774) British Parliament ordered (Coercive Acts) == (Intolerable Acts) against the
American colonies. (reaction) The Revolutionary War happen.
(2009) (Coercive Acts) == (Intolerable Acts) 233 years later come hidden in the pages
of there legislation coming out of Congress. These are serious threats against our
kids.
When (60) Sixty % of American people says === NO === to Washington on any kind of
health care legislation with employment at 10.6% and climbing $787 billion dollar job
stimulus legislation that is a massive economic failure along with
the nearly $1 trillion healthcare bill this legislation will bankrupt America.
When people stand up and there voices becomes the empty casualties of silence
Instead of SEIU being the thugs. Our fathers took on the Brits for less I'm ready
I will fight for the privilege of being left alone so with that I will give this
warning. Don't force me to fight because you won't like my way of fighting.
How true this statement is. Bringing communism to America seems to be #1 for the Obama administration and the left wing loons have bought into this this BS lock, stock and barrel.

You better be wearing a hazmat suit Indy, if you want to clean out the infestation. It's like a cancer that spread to all the organs.
Were you expecting to find brains among SEIU underling ranks? Silly you! If they had any they would have fought against being unionized, they would want to keep their right to vote intact. But no don't look for brains there you will be disappointed.
I am trying to make light of it but they are getting to me with their stupid politics.
It's sad that most of the big unions have become nothing more than corrup criminal enterprises similar to ACORN but it is what it is. The only way this will end is when we start putting people in jail on a large scale, and that will only happen if we start putting honest people back into the government. A tall order but it must be done if our nation is to survive.

Well said Mark! I have tried to make the same argument with a few Libs I know. "Just leave me alone" and then comes their argument, "I wish you understood what that means" Duh!
Sadly, all I have access to is Level-A, we may need a lot more protection than that, some of that sh** is nasty enough to eat right through the suits.
It's pretty obvious that SEIU, and labor unions in general, are miniature clones of the big Government. Pay more for less. They need to be recognized for what they are and resisted. Even better, stopped in their tracks. The kickbacks to them from the Porkulus bill should be scrutinized and cancelled. They are as crooked as a dog's hind leg.
I fondly remember dealing with a union rep during a brief, but unforgettable, stint in management. In 18 months he filed 14 unfair labor practice complaints against me. One for removing a damaged computer from a common area workspace because it was defective and kept crashing the network. I didn't consult him before removing it for repair. We sat down one day in my office to discuss his latest ULP. When I refused to comply with another frivolous complaint, he told me where he came from, a manager would sooner cut his wrists than have a ULP filed. I told him that since I knew there was basis for the complaint, there was no reason to comply. I might as well have been speaking gibberish. His entire negotiating style was to bully, intimidate and threaten. When he couldn't scare a manager into compliance, he filed charges. Towards the end, the labor relations authority investigator would call me, apologize for the call, and procede to get the facts before he closed out the case. Not one ULP was ever substantiated.
This is the mindset of union officials from the bottom to the top. This also appears to be the mindset of the current administration. Go figure.
Do you ever think we will be able to afford Tatertots after this administration gets through?
I ENCOURAGE UNION MEMBER SUICIDE.
There are certainly a LOT more of US than THEM!! I think we can take them!!! Bring it on!!! I am getting sick of MY country being run by thugs from the streets of Chicago, it's time to lock and load!!!!
Unicide!
A long time ago, there was a time and a place for unions. No longer. They have turned corrupt, vicious and intimidating, not to mention law breaking. Now the time is for decent folks to take a stand and demand that their leaders be investigated and jailed.
I can tell you right now that the UAW will not cow-tow to this Union BS by the Obama administration. The executives board might portray they are behind this administration but the actual retired UAW person is not believing anything coming out of the Obama administration.
I say SEIU needs to be shut down and the heads of them thrown into jail. When SEIU is convicted in the courtroom, I will celebrate! Next time I see an SEIU union member or upper management, I will not be silent.
Did I mention this was an NFFE (National Federation of Federal Employees) rep?
