ACORN Sues To Put Its Hand Back In Your Pocket
by Kyle OlsonWhen the winds were swirling in Washington, DC about the possibility of the Congress ‘defunding’ ACORN, its chief organizer Bertha Lewis shrugged it off, likely believing it would never happen.
When it did happen, she shrugged it off, telling an audience at the National Press Club that, “ACORN will still go on with its members and its donors,” according to CNSnews.com.
Now, devoid of the federal teat, ACORN is suing the federal government with the hopes of latching back on to continue sucking our tax dollars.
FOXnews.com reports that the Center for Constitutional Rights is suing Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Director of the Office of Management and the Budget Peter Orszag, and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan.
Just imagine this scene: an organization is on trial in at least one state for voter registration fraud, accused of voter registration fraud in more than a dozen states, is accused of being a “criminal enterprise” by a Congressional report, and is exposed in a half-dozen states as aiding a supposed pimp and prostitute to obtain a home under false pretenses and use it for admittedly illegal purposes.
And that organization then sues the federal government to restart its flow of our money. It makes me think of that insulting JG Wentworth commercial when people are leaning out windows and shouting, “It’s my money and I need it now!”
ACORN’s public puffery and subsequent statements don’t match up. Consider this line from the FoxNews.com story:
ACORN claims it has been badly hurt by the congressional actions, and has had to fire workers and close some of its 1,200 branches around the country.
Lewis said at the Press Club event that federal funds constituted about 10% of ACORN’s income. If that’s true, then why the panic? Downsize by 10% and everything’s grand. Unless, of course, federal tax dollars account for much more than 10% of the overall revenue.
Regardless, in the words of Jeremiah Wright, it appears ACORN’s chickens have come home to roost and now that it’s in an apparent financial bind, it’s lashing out at its biggest friend, the Obama-controlled federal government. It’s sad, yet heart-warming, all at the same time.

Get a real audit by independent CPA's that tic and trace the flow of money and accounts. Like Real banks require. They come back and show fiscal responsibility and talk funding. Bertie has dirty books and the billable hours to reconstruct the fraudulent transfers would just cost more than they could ever afford. There are now a few companies that specialize in forensic audits and trace money that is shuffled and hidden.
i love a good story as much as the next guy. but seriously, reading this blog you'd think there was nothing on the planet outside of acorn.
to obsess over this as much as you guys do on this blog is not what someone who is logically rational, or even mentally competent would do.
Looks like they can't generate millions from shakedowns any longer. Shakedown Congress? They want ACORN to go away. The Dems have stains that won't wash out. The only clear money is from Unions. Unions over spent on the last election and are drained. I suspect a lot of money has also been stolen from their coffee cans in their backyards also. Soros is still loaded. Bertie can pimp the green jobs industries for Joe Romm at climate Progress. They work for HJohn Podesta. Money is there but not the peoples money.

This is proof positive of the lefts entitlement mentality.
Following Acorn and its antics for months now is the main reason I am now becoming "involved" with the electoral process, and wow, am I finding things out! (like so many other things these days…the deeper you dig…the more "stench" you uncover!):
1. Secretaries of State are largely in charge of overseeing election policy (hmmm, I am sure there are "get out the vote" campaigns going on trying to get certain candidates elected for ulterior motives!);
2. Mail-in ballots is the NEW "scam" to infiltrate the election process (we need to shout LOUD about ending this practice, unless there are LEGITIMATE reasons for HAVING to do so!)
3. Not ALL secretaries of state insist of Voter ID requirements (hmmm, I wonder why?)
I take offense to the Panther thugs not being pursued for voter intimidation (where is the outcry?)
I can go on and on and on, but won't now. Suffice it to say: we need to start paying CLOSE ATTENTION to the abuses in the election system. Until we do that, we will not truly have a voice with our vote; THIS IS IMPORTANT! And along those lines, we need to DEMAND that illegals NOT be counted in the census…they are NOT "supposed" to be voting so why are they being considered for "representation" purposes? ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!
Weary but still hopeful that there is hope for "real change" (and by that I mean getting back to our amazing foundation of "LIBERTY and the pursuit of happiness" … AND IT NEEDS TO START WITH GETTING RID OF ACORN and it's "political and 'get out the vote' agenda!

ACORN is nothing but an arm of the progressive Democrats, the current administration can shut it down and walk away, or they can wait until conservatives/liberatarians get control and we can do it for you.

I believe that ACORN has helped a TON of politicos get into office, including dear leader. When the case opens, and ACORN stumbles, all of this can be brought to light in trial. Will dear leader risk losing it all to defend ACORN, or will he simply turn his back?

I have a serious question for all these liberals who don't see what's wrong with the ACORN situation. Would they be cool with a Republican administration giving tax payer dollars to an group like The Heritage Foundation? And would they still be cool with it if that group then engaged in illegal activity…over, and over, and over? And if the media refused to cover the story, after countless evidence presented by undercover investigations, would they be saying things like "Get a life" or "this isn't even a real story"?

It is logically rational to keep focusing light on criminal fraud involving tax payer money where one would logically and rationally expect to see swift prosecution but finds the opposite.
If there is a mental competence issue I would submit it's one of denial on the part of those who won't investigate criminality that affects us all. Unfortunately, I now believe it's more of a case of intellectual dishonesty combined with yet more crimes by ACORN's advocates and protectors.

Not too long ago the New Orleans ACORN headquarters was raided and a number of files and computers were confiscated. Assuming this was not just a cleanup job ordered by 0, and also assuming law enforcement does what we pay them to do, (two HUGE assumptions) after watching Bertha blather on inanely upon subjects uncounted I would have to believe that the files and hard drives in the NO office were not competently scrubbed. Now, either 0 has ordered a high-level clean-up in NO, or we may get some info regarding the money trail.
A third Party ain't gonna do it. We will need to take back the Grand Old Party, and make it our own. It won't be pretty, but there is a structure already in place, and ready to be used.

Hi all. The foot really needs to be kept on ACORN's neck. It's great to note that they are near bankruptcy and laying off staff however if you think it's the death knell of this group think again. ACORN in its' various forms is too valuable to the Dem's for them to allow to die easily. Get on your phone to your representative (especially if it's a Dem) to make sure that the funding stays cut off. Don't let off the pressure. Remember that Soro's is around this mix somewhere and it's better that he pony up the dough if ACORN is going to survive than the taxpayer.
