Demonizing Everyday Americans
by Ken Blackwell and Ken KlukowskiThere appears to be a concerted effort among the political Left and many mainstream media people to demonize and marginalize the expanding citizen-based movement known as the tea party movement. This effort flows from both a fear of what these tea parties represent and a contempt for everyday Americans. But those ordinary citizens are poised to be the ones laughing when it’s all over, when democracy takes its course.

There seems to be a consensus now among the liberal elite when it comes to the tea parties. Senior administration officials deride them, as do liberal congressional Democrats. These elitists characterize the tea partiers as extremists, some drawing analogies between these ordinary citizens and right-wing militias, fanatics, and religious zealots. Some members of Congress are even saying that these tea party people are racist, which is pretty much the worst label that can be slapped on you in modern politics.
And many leftist talking heads in the media parrot this message, with their own biting editorial, adding that some in the tea party crowd are dangerous. Some talking heads, including some Hollywood actors and others who don’t seem to have any credentials as policy analysts but are nonetheless given air time, are really playing up the racism angle, and even suggest that some tea party attendees may be domestic terrorists.
Try the decaf, people.
Agents of big government and their boosters in the mainstream media seem determined to throw cold water on this growing grassroots movement that is a reaction to the Obama administration’s power grab of the growth and expansion of this country’s central government.
There’s a great deal of diversity among tea party people. Some just want lower taxes, and some also want less regulation. Still others are pro-life voters or Christian conservatives that also want fiscal responsibility. Many others push for conservative judges, while still others hold up signs calling for a restoration of American sovereignty, or protecting America’s borders, or defeating cap and trade or card check.
But they all have two things in common: They all want smaller government, and oppose the trampling of the Constitution embodied in these efforts to radically expand the size and scope of government. And as part of that desire, they want this utterly-ludicrous spending binge to end before it bankrupts all of us.
There’s nothing extremist about that agenda, because common sense is never extreme.
Are there some people attending tea party rallies who are intemperate in their remarks? Sure. Whenever you get tens of thousands of regular folks together, you’ll always get a few who makes comments that they should reconsider. Even then, nothing we’ve seen is worse than the truly outrageous statements that we’ve heard from the Left in recent years about President Bush or Republicans.
Having been engaged in many gatherings of the tea party crowd, it’s offensive that many in the mainstream media are engaging in a systematic effort to marginalize American citizens who are simply trying to take a stand for individual liberty—a stand in opposition to big-government expansion. Also one of us speaking as an African-American (Blackwell), it’s especially insulting to suggest that these people’s opposition to President Obama is driven by racism.
America’s history of grassroots activism goes back to the founding of our republic. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people includes as a necessary element those same average, ordinary people being able to gather and speak out. This freedom to assemble was considered so essential to a free nation that our Founders put it in the First Amendment, right alongside the freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
Ironically, these rights are set side-by-side with the freedom of the press, as well. The leftists in the media would do well to remember that their liberty to be a free press comes from the same constitutional amendment as the tea party crowd’s liberty to gather together.
And our elected leaders would do well to remember that the First Amendment exists to protect average people from the government, not the other way around.
Ken Blackwell and Ken Klukowski are the authors of the forthcoming book, The Blueprint: Obama’s Plan to Subvert the Constitution and Build an Imperial Presidency, on sale April 27.

First they trivialized US.
They ridiculed US and called US Tea Baggers.
When they decided they couldn't marginalize US, they changed course and tact, and decided to demonize US.
Now they will set out to criminalize US.
Im sure some businesses will get smart and start catering to the Tea Party interests.
I joined the Tea Party yesterday.
Too bad there is no way for them to shut us up. Although I'm sure they will try, they may want to take a trip in the "way back machine" and see that in the end, we WILL be victorious.
I say turn the heat up on them! Hit them where then least expect it! These people all operate within their "protective circles"; whether it is their office, place of business the people they surround themselves with etc. What needs to be done is start engaging them outside of those areas and as always civil within the rule of law. This WILL install a level of fear in them I guarantee it. Put yourself in their shoes and imagine being out somewhere maybe they gym and someone engages vigorously about your position and policies when your there to just work out. Your not in the mindset to argue and the emotions kick in most likely. When that happens the real truth comes out and many can get burned badly, this is what "we the people" NEED to do as I have been preaching for some time. Out of the box unconventional tactics to take these people down. If its not breaking the law then do it, push their "red button" every step of the way. You must understand the tactics that all have been engaging in for the last few years do not work. 3/21/10 has proven that, Im sorry I know those of you in the Tea PArty movement don't like hearing it but your tactics DO NOT WORK, if they did the HC bill would not have been passed period.
These corrupt horrid individuals are expecting people to stand down with this new onslaught of attacks that "We the people" are violent. I say get in their face and demand proof of it. Right now they are full steam ahead once again to make their opposition look like the bad guy. So what if you get labeled you know in your heart where you stand, and those close to you know too. You must be prepared to put "everything" on the line because these people are not. Look at how many of them have thrown their own kind under the bus, shows how heartless and spineless they all are. You need to show you are prepared to go the extra step just as our Founding Fathers did when they signed their death warrant July 4th 1776!
If you are not prepared to do what is necessary I'm sorry to tell you….. you are wasting your time!
Time to take the gloves off, civil within the rule of law, and STOP this machine from being turned on. Fellow Patriots what are you prepared to do? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7jsKLXqA0g
NOW is the time for "out of the box" thinking in dealing with all politicians, bias fringe media and special interest groups. Unconventional actions is what is going to be needed to affect real change through http://www.savingtherepublic.com
It's time to boycott some movies!
I have you noticed recently that New World Order EU, many other countries, and Canada have recently adopted laws modifying free speech, with near t total complicity from the media?
Chilling isn't it?
There are dozens of names that you could call blacks to offend them, probably a dozen that would offend Hispanics. But there is only one that offends whites and that is racist. I could be called Opie, cracker, hick, etc. I could care less but by calling me racist, you are implying something that I am not and that offends me. How do I go about making racist a PC word and referring to it as the " R " word?
We're not the ones who pushed and shoved people out of a townhall meeting in Tampa. That was the left. We're not the ones who assaulted Ken Gladney while shouting epithets at him That was the left. We're not the ones that shouted down and disrupted speeches on college campuses, that was the left. When our side gathers, the property we gather on is left intact, it's the left that riots and destroys property. Anyone else see a pattern here?
The MSM doesn't respect the first amendment. They're the primary means of leftist control and they know it. They seek to shut down anything that threatens their power.
I'm looking forward to "The Blueprint" but it's going to have to wait in line.
Welcome aboard.
Didn't we read about this sort of thing before when we studied the American Revolution in history class?
Our own government as turned against us–strangely enough, our Founders warned us of such a thing happening if we didn't keep tabs on government. We didn't. And now we're paying for it.
Sh&%t!
I say turn the heat up on them! Hit them where then least expect it! These people all operate within their "protective circles" whether it is their office, place of business, people they surround themselves with and they "do not fear the people". If you come at them at their weak points out side of their protective circle, when they least expect it I guarantee you will install a level of fear in them. Imagine you are one of these people and you are out somewhere lets say the gym and someone engages you vigorously. You will feel completely out of control, unprepared and off guard. It will get heated and emotional because your out of you norm this is where mistakes are made and the wrong things said. This is the goal "the people" need to catch these individuals who demonize us off guard and have them show their true colors. once that is accomplished you now have the ammo to destroy them publicly. Unconventional tactics like this is what is needed to install a level of fear in these people. As always ciivil within the rule of law. Do not worry about being labeled you know who you are in your heart and those close to you know too. But you must be prepared to put "everything on the line" because these people are not! " Obama’s Plan to Subvert the Constitution and Build an Imperial Presidency"
We've already seen the first couple chapters, we need to write the last couple.
Senate Bill introduced by Harry Reid Oct 1 2010. Senator Reid expects the bill to be passed in the Senate and off to Nancy Pelosi by noon today where Ms San Fran Nan expects an easy push to submit for Presidental Signing by close of the day for election season recess in advance of the November election. The leadership is pleased as punch, White House Spokesman Baghdad Bob said today in the daily KOS briefing. "This will certainly simplify our lives" he further gloated in reference to the Bill known fondly on the Hill as Kool-Aid. Text of the bill follows:
SB666: No citizen may vote in any election who has not partaken and committed themselves for perpituity to the various flavors of Progressive Kool-Aid. SEIU will be in charge of all Kool-Aid stations and require daily consumption to prevent thinking by all citizens.
Damn I feel really sorry they are destroying the Kool-Aid brand!
we wil win. we will kick their asses.
Sadly, right now it is WE SOME PEOPLE, BY SOME PEOPLE AND FOR SOME PEOPLE!!! WE SAT BACK TOO LONG AND SAID NOTHING – JUST WANTED TO GET ALONG – WELL HERE WE ARE WITH VERY LITTLE LEFT TO OUR BEAUTIFUL AMERICA. To think that election day is going to fix anything at all is so naive I can't believe that is being touted. Of course, look who it is being touted by, palin, mccain, gramnesty etc. palin is nothing more then a RHINO – looking only for fame and fortune and lights and camera. SHE IS EXACTLY LIKE THE REST – WAKE UP AMERICA AND SEE THROUGH THESE PHONIES AND LOOK FOR THE GENUINE, COUNTRY LOVING AMERICAN TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE TO SERVE OUR COUNTRY AND HOPEFULLY, MAYBE TAKE IT BACK.
That criminalization appears to be the very next step. We're going to see some exciting times, shortly, it appears.
Welcome to the Party, I am so glad you could make it!
I have a few Friends who live in the U.K. They have a huge progressive/immigration problem very similar to ours but more advanced (not by much I don't think). I was informed last night that there soldiers when serving abroad can no longer vote. Is that not the craziest thing you've ever heard? The very people who provide there security and what use to be freedom no longer have a say because there busy fighting a war?
The progressives in this country are trying to follow suite. They will try to cast out the hard working law abiding American who only wants his freedom. In the end this will be there down fall in my opinion. Everyone has always overlooked the power of the American people. When the silent majority is no longer silent we are a force thats unmatched anywhere.
Great idea Dave. The only problem with it is that political correctness is one of the courses taught to whites in BHO's re-education camps that will soon be required for all white conservatives. We cannot benefit from anything PC. We just have to learn our place.
When the subject of the Tenth Amendment has been raised in past conversation, some have laughed and some have said, "Oh, that will never work." Since its passage, many States have tried to invoke their Tenth Amendment rights on several occasions. The largest combined effort, before now, was during the Civil War, when eleven states sought to secede from the united States. Interestingly enough, the last time people got truly fired up about their States rights was during the Roosevelt Administration's "New Deal." Why do we have such a magnificent amendment to protect the states if we are not going to use it?
It's time we quit whining about the MSM, LSM or whatever the HELL we're calling it this week. I've used
up my quota of expletives this week so I won't say what I've been calling them lately. We CAN NOT con-
trol them, we can not cajole them, we can not shame them. They have deep connections with the other
side, & we will not change that. Our time & energy is wasted worrying about them. Those of us in the agri-
cultural sector seem to always innovate our way out of problems that arise, so boys & girls, put on your
thinking caps, there IS a way around this, we only have to find it.
Like who? How about a name.
November, November, November
We can't waist any more time on a little wish among so called "elites." Our target from now and until 2012 should be Hussein Barak, Obama (HBO). Right now despite all of the hype around health care bill his approval is still in high 40's low 50's. If we do not change that soon, damage that would be done in his 8 years (God forbid) would be irreversible. Educate every single person in your vicinity about HBO, his past, ideas and people who surround him. All others, elites, do not matter. They never did, just because they miniscule number and relatively low influence on others. After all they treat the same way those "poor people on government assistance."
Kevin Butterfield found 'it.'
When the left wants to b*tch they claim all the rights to do so.
Hillary reminded us of this in 2003

…and I just want to be left alone and not harrassed by nosy do-gooders intent on saving society form itself (it doesn't need saved) and turning this country into a third-world shit-hole.
Yes we will, unless Rush is right is saying that we may not get to vote.

“Today the path to total dictatorship in the United States can be laid by strictly legal means, unseen and unheard by the Congress, the President, or the people. Outwardly, we have a Constitutional government. We have something
within our government representing another form of government. which believes our Constitution, is outmoded and is sure that it is the winning side… All the strange developments in foreign policy agreements may be traced to this group who are going to make us over to suit their pleasure.”

Okay, so let's get motivated to remove the left? How by increasing representation. Add more congressperson's say 1776 (good number) then we can run for office ourselves and rid ourselves of the Waxman. Frank, Dodd, and other unsavory Republican characters. Time to cowboy up, dude. Check out http://www.thirty-thousand.org I can't do it alone file a law suit.
Check out what's going on with Mark Steyn and Ann Coulter in Canada, or Geert Wilders in the EU. Chilling unfortunately doesn't begin to describe it.
Sorry, Whites don't get to be added to the list of PC sufferers. Too many years of evil oppression, y'know
The internet – you're using the best weapon against them right now!
Good, now it is time to do what the left and the Republican establishment doesn't want you and I to do. Increase Representation. How? Article 1 Section 2 US Constitution. Read it know it live it. Go to http://www.thirty-thousand.org anyone who thinks it is a bad idea ask the 20 states in our country who have proper Representation in the state legislatures. New Hampshire alone has 400 members in their legislature to represent about 3,000. Live free or die should apply to all. Call Hannity, Call Glenn Beck make them see it. They all have ego's let them think they thought of it.
The people who witnessed someone yelling at Bawney Fwank, said a tall man who showed up, yelled the slur, then left quickly.. My guess is most of the hate towards the Dems are coming from Dems.. I don't believe them on most everything they say or do…
welcome/congrats
Do you think being forced to read from a que card in a Presidential election is free speech? Do something about it demand proper representation http://www.thirty-thousand.org
Exactly, which is why there must be more representation in congress and in many states. Increase the House and we will rid ourselves of the left. http://www.thirty-thousand.org
Exactly, which is why there must be more representation in congress and in many states. Increase the House and we will rid ourselves of the left. http://www.thirty-thousand.org
You are now among the best.
If King George will not listen, King George must be fought.
Welcome to Obamazuela.
When a Muslim slaughter 14 and would another 24 on a military base Obama and the dems say not to jump to conclusions.
When there are unsubstantiated allegations pointed int he direction of the Tea Party, dems go nuts and blame them all.
.
.
Hang on a minute. A politican plays both sides. McCain is way better than that JD Worthless character. If you want to take it back demand more representation file a lawsuit. Class action is ideal. Check out http://www.thirty-thousand.org Remember if Madison worte something in the constitution such as Article 1 Section 2 he was probably right. The radical left came into power before during the 1912 election and during the 1929 crash as well. It is not a coincedence. Lindsey Graham is going to pass "Amnesty" it will be best to get him to increase representation in the House it won't matter if Obama wins. We need at least 1776 representatives. That is small goverment smaller congressional districts means they'll have to listen and obey YOU!
I agree. Time to boycott everything liberal — GE, Disney, Viacom (CBS), and left wing movies. spread the word. I'm already living it.
.
So let's overtake them. An increase in representation will destroy the left. Go to http://www.thirty-thousand.org
It gets creepier and creepier — notice how we're moving to the Chavez model where you get arrested and TV stations are shut down.
Political correctness is part of the problem that is infecting our society like a cancer IMHO.
This is NOT a fight between Republicans and democrats but a war against good vs evil.
What if?
What then…..?
They leave us VERY few choices…
Someone else here said to "catch them off guard". That might get the politicians to say something they'll regret, but you would too in the same situation. You would say something YOU WOULDN'T MEAN. Catching them off guard will only make the person you're catching pissed and make you look like an asshole. Many people on this website have also talked about 1776 and our fore fathers and the Constitution. The U.S. started the Revelutionary War because of the high taxes. The taxes were placed by the King of England because the colonists had started the French-Indian War (ring any bells? It's from your 8th grade history.) which turned into a war that spanned the globe and cost the British buttloads of money. That means your oh-so-beautiful-and-perfect country is founded on the morals of silly little kids who were too whiny, spoiled, and irresponsible to pay for what they broke. Oh, by the way, remember George Bush Jr.? The guy who screwed up our economy? The economy that needs new taxes to fix? The new taxes that you (the right-wing people) are protesting? Just wondering if you've made any connections with anything I've said previously.
Interesting that the Marx Stream Media dismisses that concept out of hand…
Why not start with Article 1 Section 2 Increase representation let's increase congress to 1776 members. You want to destroy the left don't you? You want congress to listen to you. How about forcing congress to obey you. Check out http://www.thirty-thousand.org Call every radio jock and have them spread the word. If they say it is a terrible idea than they know it is the solution. For years I've been trying to get on the Dennis Prager guy. I always get hung up on. What does that tell you about him? I get on the Michael Medved show and he agress with me! Be hard to convince Rush. If he is against it then you know what the left says about Rush might be true. The fight is in our hands.
Enforce Article 1 Section 2 The number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every Thirty thousand. Let's increase congress to 1776 members. I cannot emphasize this enough if you want congress to obey you this is the vital key. Go to http://www.thirty-thousand.org
A new troll bringing up immigration……………………………… very very interesting.

Nobody cares.
curious when these people get re-elected b/c of the zombie voters then what?
Funny how that "violent language" is attributed to us, never mind the lefties burning buildings to protest the WTO and the RNC convention…
I don't think you realize that Obama and Bush serve the same master. I never liked Bush for the simple fact that he implemented the Patriot Act. Totally unconstitutional. Your buddy Barry O is a spitting image of Bush and I may be wrong, but I think there are many here that didn't like Bush either.
Get it through your head already Mr. Progressive. This is not about Republicans or Democrats, this is about control of the people. (and that will include YOU as well)
They are bullies. This is what bullies do. I don't think we can be too careful. I don't think being careful will be enough.
And some businesses(GM),(GE), and some banks, and certain TV networks, ect……………………
Our last Tea Party was SO extreme that we didn't sing God Bless America once……………………………..we sang it twice.
Wow man, you are so smart. imagine going to a conservative web site and finding right wing talk. who would have thought it so? Just like if you go to huffpoo or dailykoz its a cesspool of lib bullshit. And how do you know i would not take the job? has it been offered to me? nope.
Lets see jobs illegals do. house painter – done it. construction – done it, concrete work – done it, okay you got me on the produce picker, not a lot of call for that around here.
PC is destroying our country, it deprives people of "common sense".
I think it will work bfrombigd at the correct time. That time is not quite yet, but could be here very shortly. If the tension over the next few agenda items gets wicked enough the Progressives will overstep to the extent that the souls of Americans will be tryed enough by their actions that #10 will be the only alternative.
Take a few minutes and read the attached and tell me your favorites. I am so in tune with 7,8,12 and 22.
Well, I was always taught to defend myself against bullies. The bully better understand that "the bigger they are, the harder they fall".
Hombre en la calle the Democrat political base is the poor, the lazy, and the rich. Los Angeles, Hollywood, Detroit, New York, Boston, these cities are all controlled by the Democrats, who give the poor money to buy drugs, and money to buy food so the poor can buy more drugs. I'd support a path to amnesty as long as we Americans have proper representation. There are 435 members of congress. There are supposed to be 10,000+ members according to the Constitution. See Article 1 Section 2. Just because someone in power has a D or an R after their name doesn't mean that they are one. Amnesty is about power. The power to rule over the powerless. Lincoln a Republican freed the slaves and desegregated the military in 1860. Woodrow Wilson a Democrat segregated the military in 1912 President Eisenhaur a Republican desegragated the military in 1950 there is a difference betweenthe parties albeit a small one sometimes.
Agreed,
That reminds me, WWU I did agree with you in another thread, "In defense of the lady"
Yes, I remember.
I'd vote for Lt. Col. Allan West in a heartbeat.
Hell, I'd even consider enrolling in ACORN, if that allowed me to vote multiple times….
all night shows on fox – the left again blaming the right – same argument
brick through windows – they keep asking for the person name – "crickets"
spitting on congressmen – andrew brietbart offing $10K for proof – no takers "crickets"
this is all they have ????
But Nancy doesn't "INSIGHT A RIOT" by walking through the middle of them .. she should be charged !!!!
Mr. Man,
Sorry your biases have clouded your view.
Yes this site is partisan, they do show only one side; the one that promotes liberty, economic freedom, and responsibility. Whether you want to classify that as right wing B.S. is your prerogative. Actually, I find the site even has a libertarian bent to it, but I digress.
As for your inquiry on immigration, the fact that they take low paying jobs has nothing to do with it. It's far different from defecting in the 1980s from Europe when it was either defect or stay what seemed like an eternity in your country. They have the option of going through the process legally or dare I say, taking economic steps to better their country.
Also, most people who hire illegal immigrants exploit the hell out of them. I would take a job they do because you would not be able to pull wool over my eyes and pay me peanuts for crazy hours.
That has happened to me also !! I'm also having to retype my name and address while I'm posting.
BTW, I watched the video you posted a couple days ago!!
I do agree !!!
If the Tea Party declared itself non-partisan, obtain 501 status, and extorted money from the government, liberals would try to co-op it.
What if the tea party people stop buying things and stop sending money to politicians…what kind of an uproar would that start!??

Been doing just that for some time now. The more money they get from everyday people the more than have to use against us……Not mine, not anymore.
I thought Acorn was defuct. Or is that the spin of the MSM?
I'd vote for him also, heard him on TV a couple times!!
I was very impressed !!!
But for now I'm focused on my rep. joined his campaign.
First time for me!!! See below !

Every time someone calls you racist tell them they are not using CS…..and are behind the times. Let them wonder.
You are so right on that , personally I gave up on them some time ago, I rarely comment on them!!!
Not worth the energy pressing the keys to do that !!!!
Brian F
Now they wish to take it a step further and riot and destroy us.
We can stop this if we, the people, want to, but it will require everyone who is ticked off to make some sacrifices. That is, it will require everyone to start DOING something. The left can get a million illegal immigrant pro-amnesty activists in DC, we need to be able to do the same. We also need to employ civil disobedience tactics – NOW. We can't wait till '10, nor can we wait till '12. There are no checks and balances right now in congress so we need to stand up, and get out there. We need to stop yelling, and be quiet and VERY VISIBLE, and also VERY ANNOYING. We need to use MLK as a model. If we clogged DC with a million plus people and were willing to stage sit ins, etc., we'd make quite a point. The MSM are going to try to malign us anyway, so we need to make it count. We can stop this. The power resides with the people, so it's time we start exercising that power. People that call up congressional leaders and leave nasty messages are no better then code pink, who are radical agitators hell bent on disruption, and usurping the democratic process. It's time we stop letting them run the show. It's time the people who actually pay taxes and employ people make thier voices heard. If the illegal aliens want to do another day without hispanics, well, that's fine! We'll do a week without conservatives and see how much THAT screws things up. Let them see how much tax revenue as lost as a result.
Nobody cares!
“I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you are not patriotic. We need to stand up and say, ‘We are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration!’”
~~ Hillary Rodham Clinton, April 28, 2003, at the annual Democratic Party Jefferson-Jackson-Bailey Day fund raising dinner in Connecticut.
I like it, and more!
Seriously, dude, cut the crap. 7 spam posts so far in this thread alone. give it a rest. If anyone cared about your link, they wold have said so by now.
You are a puke, and you are actively enabling those who are taking away all freedom in this nation.
There will be a noose waiting for you right along side the political scum in Washington when the time comes.
They are bullies I agree – and back where I grew up, when someone bullied you, you broke their nose, or knocked out teeth until they decided it was easier to bully somebody else.

I attended the very first Tea Party(s) when it was quickly organized a couple of weeks after Rick Santelli's rant.
The Chicago one was organized on Facebook and when I clicked the will attend, a message went out to my friends stating I was attending the Chicago Tea Party.
Within a couple of hours, I received a message from one of my friends, who is really an aquaintance and someone I hadn't seen in over a year.
I've never talked politics with this person and his opening words were, "Have you lost your senses"?
He then went on a rant about mortgage brokers causing the collapse and other stuff having nothing to do with the impetus for the Tea Parties.
I responded that I despise big government and inept bureaucracy and that I didn't think taxpayers should be paying for all the bailouts. I didn't even mention any political party.
He responded back with another crazy rant saying rich people were greedy and he welcomed their demise, and he preferred socialism to feudalism (among other things). He also said he was thinking of going to protest the protesters.
I was really taken aback by all of it because he's not a friend of mine and I found his actions aggressive and rude. I also resented having to justify myself, especially to someone I don't even know well (and he's the one who contacted me to ask to be my friend).
