Why has Obamacare become a TEA Party issue?
by K. Douglas LeeObamacare has become a TEA Party issue, and that’s a good thing for the TEA Partiers, and all freedom-loving Americans.
At the April 15 TEA Party gathering here in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, speakers will include a hopeful candidate for Congress, a pastor, and even a law enforcement official. What really caught my eye, though, was the announcement beforehand that “a local orthopedic surgeon will address the recently passed health care legislation.” This is hardly an isolated incident.

Think about it — the TEA Party is all about protesting massive, out of control government spending, and the excessive taxation that is necessary to support it. Obamacare has been largely debated as healthcare reform. Why should TEA Partiers care about healthcare reform? You may think that the TEA Party is branching out into more areas than the core issue that has made it such a huge and ever-growing success. You may find this risky and perhaps alarming. Let me disabuse you of that notion, and assure you that Obamacare was destined to be a core TEA Party issue from the very beginning.
Liberty, Taxes and ObamaCare
Rassmussen Reports recently published an article that began: “The number of people who say they’re part of the Tea Party Movement nationally has grown to 24%. That’s up from 16% a month ago, but the movement still defies easy description.”
The TEA Party is all about excessive taxes and our huge national debt, to be sure, but the increase in TEA Partiers grew by well over one-third in one month. How can this be? According to “new data” from Rasmussen Reports, among those who are part of the movement, 89% disapprove of the way that Barack Obama is handling his job as president. That figure includes 82% who Strongly Disapprove. One cannot possibly think that this has nothing to do with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the “Obamacare” statute, that was passed in the waning days of March, concomitant with the surge in TEA Party numbers. As Rasmussen puts it:
The rise in Tea party support is perhaps not surprising at a time when more voters than ever (58%) favor repeal of the national health care plan just passed by Democrats in Congress and signed into law by President Obama. Most voters remain convinced that the health care plan will require an increase in taxes on the middle class as a time when 66% of voters believe America is already overtaxed.

TEA: It's about the LIBERTY, folks!
I posit the theory that Obamacare has become a TEA Party issue — in fact, not just “an” issue, but perhaps the most pressing one. Rassmussen Reports has found that ninety-six percent (96%) of those in the Tea Party movement believe America is overtaxed, not a surprising result for a movement whose acronym, TEA, is widely considered to mean “Taxed Enough Already,” and which harkens back to a tax protest that changed world history — the Boston Tea Party. These folks know that there is no such thing as a free lunch — somebody has to pay for that hoagie. When the hoagie is government mandated/controlled/subsidized health insurance, the people paying for it are taxpayers.
Liberal/Progressive types constantly berate those voters who “remain convinced that the health care plan will require an increase in taxes on the middle class” a just blithering idiots who cannot hope to understand the brilliance of Obamacare. They constantly snipe that the CBO report shows that our gargantuan budget deficit will actually be reduced by their new “healthcare” law (and if you believe that, I have some prime snow-skiing property here in Mississippi that I would like to sell you). TEA Partiers, though, are a pretty common-sense bunch. When they see something that costs money, they know that the money must come from somewhere. Since the only source of income for the federal government is taxes, every non-Liberal instantly recognizes that taxes will have to be raised if the new spending is to be “budget neutral.”
Indeed, the list of “new and improved” taxes in the Obamacare law is staggering. According to an April 13th op-ed for the Washington Examiner by Grace-Marie Turner at the Galen Institute, “The health overhaul plan just enacted represents the largest tax hike in U.S. history – $569 billion over 10 years through a dizzying array of taxes and fees that promise to frustrate taxpayers at every turn. ObamaCare will make every day feel like April 15th. And despite President Obama’s campaign promise that no one making $250,000 or less would see a tax increase, Congress’ Joint Committee on Taxation confirms that these tax hikes will hit millions of middle- and working-class families who are struggling to make ends meet.” (Emphasis added). According to well-documented research by Americans for Tax Reform in Washington DC, besides the penalty tax for lawbreakers who fail to carry health insurance (which the CBO says will cost taxpayers $39 billion from 2010-2019), there is the Medicine Cabinet Tax, the HSA Withdrawal Tax Hike, Flexible Spending Account Cap – aka “Special Needs Kids Tax” Tax on Medical Device Manufacturers, a tax on Indoor Tanning Services, a Blue Cross/Blue Shield tax , an excise tax on charitable hospitals, a tax on Innovator Drug Companies, a tax on health insurers, the elimination of a tax deduction for employer-provided retirement prescription drug coverage in coordination with Medicare Part D, and other draconian tax-related measures, such as the Marxist $500,000 annual executive compensation limit for health insurance executives, and red tape like employer reporting of insurance on W-2 and Corporate 1099-MISC Information Reporting, which creates enormous compliance burdens for small businesses and makes additional penalties likely.
I for one have concluded that Obamacare is not truly about healthcare. I take Rep. John Dingell (D-MI) at his word — it’s about controlling the people. Is there any issue nearer and dearer to the hearts of TEA Partiers than governmental control over their lives? Out of control spending and excessive taxation can only be rationally explained as a power grab by a tiny faction who control our federal government, and want to further control us.
Like the generation that fought the Revolutionary War and gave us the Constitution, the TEA Party movement recognizes that excessive taxation is a form of tyranny in and of itself. Obamacare is tyrannical in the way it mandates penalties, forces you to purchase insurance and commandeers state employees, to be sure, but it also constitutes a massive increase in taxation. TEA Partiers know this, and they don’t like it. Since 48% of voters now say the average Tea Party member is closer to their views than President Obama and 58% want Obamacare repealed, I conclude that opposition to Obamacare is not only a major issue for the Tea Party movement, it is a winning issue.

One thing I would like is for Barry to say it straight for once. He stated you won't lose your present coverage that this won't affect what you have right now, well, just found out I can kiss my HSA goodbye. Wonder what other nuclear easter eggs he has hidden in the 2000+ page bill???
Well Obama didn't listen to the public. The public got upset. The Tea Party was born. The rest is history.
The closed ears, willfully blinded eyes, closed doors and closed fists of the radical progressive/leftist/communist/anarchist/totalitarian statists have brought this movement on themselves.
WILL WILL NOT BE IGNORED ANY LONGER AND OUR KNEES WILL NEVER BEND FOR ANY MAN OR SELF PROCLAIMED KING WITH A DEITY COMPLEX!!!
The Tea Party is political astroturfing at its best. And considering it's two symbolic figureheads, we on the other side of the political spectrum are have a bloody good laugh at it:
1) Sarah Palin…. the fiscal conservative. She quits her job and leaves the state of Alaska with the highest Debt to GDP ratio of any state in the Union (not to mention increasing the municipal debt of Wasilla from 1 million to 22 million dollars during her mayoral stint).
2) Glenn Beck… Decrying all that is run by the government, learning all of the evils of these socialist institutions not from some fancy private school, but from reading books in the PUBLIC LIBRARY.
Keep it going kids. This stuff almost writes itself….
Here is a game plan to get our country back on the track of prosperity.
This man was a true leader, just listen to his words. Once his plan was put in action we prospered as a nation.

Just got back from our local Tea Party. Great turnout. Best sign there was "Not White, Not Wealthy, Definitely Overtaxed." (yes, a nice black woman) Second best was "Union Construction Worker – I should be working, Not Doing This. Hope and Change not working for me. Got Work?"
If I can figure out how to do the YouTube upload thingy, I'll load it and let you know.
The Huffing-paint Post / Media Murders crowd is really in high gear today and I am amused and LAUGHING at the "superior" intelligence from the desperate leftists!
Keep it coming kids, you're doing a great job doing our job for us!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!
This started before ObaMao
Today at my Tea Party (IN N/W Iowa) we had a lady speak from a private Assisted Living Home
She said the new ObaMao health care will cost the residents 32 dollars and change a month extra for care
The country prospered under Reagan if you were already rich. If you were middle class, your income saw a decade of ZERO growth, and if you were poor then you really took a hit. Poverty rates went from 11% up to over 15% during his presidency. He was a hero to wealthy, white christians. To the rest of us, he was just another cog in the America-towards-plutocracy wheel. And to be "fair and balanced" things were just as bad under Clinton. Two party duopoly.
[...] Why has Obamacare become a TEA Party issue? [...]
Truly, I do not know where you were at this time, but I was here and paying attention as a young man of 15. He got this country moving quickly with his plan. The only problem he had is the same problem we face today. Government gone wild printing money, as if it were monopoly money. All they or going to leave your children and grand children, will be change, and nothing more.
God Bless America
Do you really? Laugh I mean. I am guessing that you get a great big belly chuckle every time you look in the mirror and see the giant question mark over your head. We on the right side of the political spectrum get a roaring laugh going every time you guys clench your jaws, fists and toes. We enjoy your prattling tantrums. Now go stand corner until you learn to behave.
"Has Obamacare become a Tea Party issue?" To quote a very smart lady, "You Betcha!"
andrea, do you have sources for your rhetoric. Please quote them from something other than progressive liberal talking points. And no, the HuffandPuff isn't credible.
Apparently you are completely clueless and out of your league here –
Do you have any clue why Sarah Palin resigned? Give it your best shot, it should be interesting.
Not even sure what your point is regarding Beck, maybe you want to try again, with a smidge of logic if possible.
Just a side note, if you stick to the topic at hand, which is healthcare in this case, we can see how woefully ignorant you truly are -
Keep laughing, Fool! Since, he who laughs last, laughs loudest, we'll see how loudly you are laughing in November.
Dear Lord what rock did you crawl out under from?! Everything you wrote is completely and utterly false –
Get off the 'whitey' kick for your own sanity – I heard a great one today, the Tea Party is really against
WHITE MALE LIBERALS – now go think about it for a bit and see if you can make the connection -
I'd bet that to this very day, he hasn't read one page of the darned thing. I'd bet the same of Pelosi/Reid. I heard yesterday, that they may lose their cadillac plans, that you and I pay for, with the way this bill is written. Wouldn't that be just delicious? Bet it won't take them long to remedy that, if it is true.
Damn right!
At T Party event today I heard from 3 doctors that this bill will stop any new outpatient surgery centers and probaby lead to extinction of existing ones. that is a big deal because hospitals are a mess and the complications from post-surgery infections at hospitals are more deadly than most things folks get surgery for. But I am sure it has nothing to do with fact that hospitals also are infested with SEIU while surgery centers (many owned by doctors) are non-union. Repeal and replace!
Why should they read it – it does not apply to them.
Great line.
I saw a bunch of good ones. Two I liked were " Cap the Budget and Trade the Politicians" and "Make Wealth Not Socialism" (with a peace sign).
WE had 3 doctors speak and a few more in crowd all adamantly against Obamacare. that says it all. They cited statistic from survey of largest practicing physician organization ( Not AMA which is about 20% and mostly academics) and 78% were negative on Obamacare. We are in deep doo if this is not repealed.
1)Regardless of why she quite, WHAT about that debt she left? That's the worst thing a "fiscal conservative" could do.
2) "Not even sure what your point is regarding Beck." I rest my case.
And just so you're aware, I'm fully cognizant that the issue here is healthcare, and, surprisingly, I'm just as opposed to Obamacare as you are. The difference is, I think that private insurance companies should be entirely replaced by a single-payer, not "reformed."
You mean when the Democrats retain control of the house and senate? Bear in mind, I'm not a Democrat, and didn't vote for Obama, Kerry, Gore, OR Clinton. I'm just being objective. The Republicans may gain a few seats, but they ain't gaining control. But hey, the Tea Party is "non-partisan," so what do you care?
No question marks here, sunshine. I know where I stand and have the voting record to prove it. And it wasn't liberals who shouted epithets at our members of congress, so if you're going after the tantrum throwers, you might want to look closer to home.
was at DC today
there were a few counter protesting
one guy shoved me and another(looked like a union twit) was getting pretty irate.
as soon as the guy shoved me another guy started calling for the cops saying i was
starting something. I was firing up my cam and saw i didnt have any more disc time and by
the time i changed discs the cops made them move out of the area.
damn modern tecnology
I guess you must have collected that reward money that Andrew was offering for proof. Must have just happened today, cause I haven't seen the video yet. What is it like to live in a complete fantasy, Sunshine? Shouldn't you be rubbing a magic lantern or something instead engaging with higher intellects? Run along now, before a house falls on you.
sorry bout that
didnt log in
am trying to figure out how to load my vids on line
and really i was just standing there when the guy shoved me
just because he was trying to disrupt the gathering and i didnt want to move
just saying
Trust me if you were in a group of friendlies it was recorded by somebody, it will come out very soon and they will not be allowed to hide from their arrogance and violence.
They are busted!
This is the third time I've seen in just a few days, a strong defender of liberal causes say that they didn't vote for Obama. Do you want us to think you're a foreigner? Or just that you're too lazy to vote and turn that kind of work over to groups like ACORN?
With pleasure. Statistics taken from the US Census. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:United_States_I...
Looking at 40th and 60th quintiles, you can see that between 1980 and 1992, household incomes for middle class people stayed flat, then gained under Clinton, then stayed flat under Bush. In the beginning years of both the Reagan and Bush1 presidency, these household incomes actually declined. In the 20% quintile, you can see that household income actually declined during the period from 1980-1992…. and SURPRISE… in the upper quintiles, income increased.

I voted for Nader in '96, '00, '04, '08.
You're right. If there isn't video of it happening, it didn't happen. I forgot what age we're living in……
Now you are starting to come around. I mean honestly, if it was the shoe was on the other foot, wouldn't your side ask the same? It is the age of video, heck even children have phones with cameras. Are you saying your side isn't smart enough to keep up with children?
I was being sarcastic. There were dozens of eye witnesses, but apparently they are all liars, right?
If you want to se gov. run health care go to a VA hospital or and Indian Reservation!!!

Beaverton school officials place tea party crasher teacher on leave during investigation
April 15, 2010, 1:17PM
BEAVERTON — Jason Levin, the Conestoga Middle School teacher who created the "Crash the Tea Party" Web site, has been placed on paid administrative leave while Beaverton school officials investigate whether he inappropriately used school equipment or time to work on his Web site.
Beaverton School District made the decision in light of the widespread attention the case has sparked, spokeswoman Maureen Wheeler said this afternoon. Today was Levin's first day on leave since word broke earlier this week of his Web site.
"We just think at this point it would be a good choice to do that with all the attention that this has drawn," Wheeler said.
Both the school district main office and Conestoga have received hundreds of e-mails and calls from across the world in the past two days regarding Levin. Some demanded he quit or be fired.
Levin created the Web site, which encouraged the people to infiltrate the tea party to discredit their movement. The site has been disabled since last night.
Tea party crashers should use misspelled protest signs, make wild claims during interviews or other actions that would damage public opinion of the party, the Web site encouraged.
well, considering one guy did recant his statement of 'witnessing' said incident, I'd say you are correct, they are liars.
lol – 'nuff said
So THAT'S why you're trying to convince yourself that the Tea Party movement is astroturf. By the time this country is finished with Obama's liberalism, it's not going to have anything to do with Nader (or that brand of politics). ouch! Just don't get too upset come November.
Tell you what andy, you stick to your source of wikishit and spread the fun at the sites who eat up this kind of crap. As for proving anything, I wouldn't waste my time with the likes of you – we could line up facts and figures, and people such as you will stick to your own narrow vision of reality – hardly worth the effort. Oh, btw, did you hear that bo isn't going to raise taxes!!! lol
spread the news
Conestoga is about 8 miles due South of my house, I can see the hill it sits on from my back door!
That you think that the tea party will actually banish the left from the political process merely reflects the utter lack of reality that is contained in the kool aid that the Palin Express is serving to it's "constituents."
I gave you a chart that came from the US census, sourced by wiki. Feel free to post one that contradicts the government's numbers, if you can. Saying that you "won't waste your time," is the loser's way of saying that they can't come up with a better argument.
Wikipedia? Figures. After the Reagan tax cuts, revenue nearly doubled from roughly 460 billion, I think it was, to over 900 billion. When the Demmunists, who always pretend not to understand Economics, saw that coming, the pressure was on to spend more and they did. Higher taxes, lower paychecks.
No kidding, huh? Read enough of their posts and the picture becomes pretty clear. Most can't hide their insanity for long or their hate, for that matter.
No shit. 'Been there, seen that."
[...] » Why has Obamacare become a TEA Party issue? – Big Government [...]
I went to the Tea Party in my State Capital today. It was great!
Our governor spoke to us, and so did several US Senate candidates from a couple of parties. One promised that once elected, EVERY bill in the Senate will be subject to Constitutional scrutiny. He promised to vote against ALL of them that don't pass muster. He won my vote today — and I'm not even a member of his party!
Why Palin quit are her reasons alone, for me, I could care less. But if you want a state that is horribly run and by progressives, try either Cali or NY. Both states are in far worse condition that Alaska and Cali is currently in worse shape than Greece now.
Your arguement about Beck there is rather meaningless. Besides our public schools suck horribly and have not changed in the past 30 years. A public library is a different situation all together as you are teaching yourself and not some public funded hack.
It is nice to see your side on healthcare. Only problem is that single-payer never works. It will cause prices to go up, quality to go down, even further rationing, too much bueachracy, and gov't gets in between you and your doctor. In my opinion, I dont want to look forward to that.
I'm for single-payer healthcare, a system favored by over 80% of Canadians who use it. A system that includes every citizen from cradle to grave, has less than 1/5th the administrative costs than a privatized system, and uses up around 11% of the GDP. You are for a system that 35% of Americans favor, that excludes 15% percent of the population, underinsures another 10%, has administrative costs of around 25% and eats up about 19% of the GDP (highest in the world), can deny people for pre-existing conditions which are entirely decided at the discretion of the insurer, can drop people from coverage if they become too expensive, all the while paying hundreds of millions of dollars in corporate compensation to the CEO's who make the most money for their shareholders (which means paying as little as possible to health care providers). Now. Tell me again. Who is insane? Oh, and life expectancies are higher in Canada than they are in the US, and they also have lower rates of cancer and heart disease.
The source was from the US census. If you can refute them with cold hard numbers, please do. For middle class people, their income stayed flat until Clinton was in office. For the poor, they went down. For the rich, they went up. Simple as that.
Riggghhhttt… One recanted, so they are all liars. Hmm….
Neither California or New York have debt to GDP ratios of 70%. Palin's Alaska has the highest in the nation. The next closest? 40% And it's California, because they were stupid enough to take a page from the future tea party playbook and require the senate to have a 2/3's majority to pass any taxes, yet go with majority rule for popular referendums. That's a right wing, one way ticket to state bankruptcy. And despite all that, they STILL aren't as bad as Alaska.
The Beck argument is the most compelling of all. He got his education at a publicly-funded SOCIALIST (by his definition) institution. Then he turned around and bit off the hand that fed him.
Single payer? 80% of Canadians approve of their system. 35% of Americans approve of their privatized system. Do the math. And what on earth is "bueachracy?" Good god man. Spellcheck. Please. All you're doing is proving my point more.
And if we're going to criticize presidents who spend too much, Clinton left office with a surplus. It was Bush who spent it all, and then some, and then more to leave us with the biggest deficit in history. Let's be fair and balanced, shall we?
Nah, I didn't say that the left would be banished from the political process, but that after the country cleans its wounds and picks itself back up, it's not going to listen to a politician with a liberal agenda that says, "try it our way – again."
The left will never be completely gone as there are always going to be people who are content when the president says (paraphrasing), "It would have been worse if I had not acted"
For me, I'll ask any politician before he/she gets my vote – Did you cause the problem?
Why don't you get behind self-determination, capitalism and "being for" something besides looting other people's labor?
Actually…
One is a confirmed liar…the others are still "in process"…
Keep that blind side up for a few more months…seven or so…
No…you really don't want to see that…its a disgrace how they're treated…
So, instead of removing the disgrace, the Obama wants to "spread that wealth around"…
Not while I breathe…
Seems like your still missing facts there. As noted with Cali, they are so far in debt now due to progressive spending programs and taxes that force businesses to leave the state. Reguardless how bad Alaska may be, Cali is far worse and the numbers prove that. The 2/3 majority was in the playbook since the founders. Yes, it was wrong for the republicans use a majority only to pass bills, but the dems doing the same thing doesnt make them right for doing so, like they did when the healthcare bill.
I was public educated to, and frankly, our system sucks ass. Just cause he was educated from it, doesnt mean he has to like it, and after doing research over it, you can easily tell how progressive our system has been since the introduction of the DOE.
I dont know where you get your numbers, but 85% of Americans are fine with their current insurance. As for Canadians, who cares. Just saying, single payer will lead to bigger gov't and lower quality, and its now a matter of if it will happen, but when. True I misspelled, it happens, but dont make a big deal out of it. Try to be an adult and care more about the subject at hand than some lame typo.
We need to stop Obamacare Quickly
The fastest way to repeal is for states to initiate and ratify an amendment that repeals Obamacare. As the supreme law of the land, an amendment stating “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and any amendments thereto, are repealed” would do it. But first we need some states (TX, VA, ID) to call for a convention now! Then this becomes an issue in state-level elections in November. If enough states become Republican controlled in November, they could propose and ratify the amendment by next summer. End of Obamacare. A Constitutional smackdown. It would totally eviscerate Obama and the Dems. See the plan athttp://www.constitutionalrepeal.com
thats right
i forgot you are in Oregon
I lived in Triangle Lake and Harrisburg then as a teen I left home and went to North Bend
I always consider Oregon my home even though I havent lived there for over 30 years
my daughter moved out there about a year ago and she loves it

Didn't happen, fool. You know it and I know it. I've seen the video, and the accusations… are lies.
When those liberals find out what happens when you add thirty million more people in the waiting rooms of doctors offices and hospitals and they have to wait 10 months to get a 10minute doctor appointment, maybe then they will realize thier mistake. Obams said is straight: Sit down, and shut up and get out of the way. Thats what will be the motto in doctors waiting rooms soon if the democrats prevail.
Boy are you ever right on that! Even worse than the "who-gives-a-s**t" attitude, and the endless waits in line for yet another bureaucratic run-around or some new documentation that had to be hand carried somewhere else in the rat-like maze of the the place, was that each and every VA hospital I've ever been to has been utterly filthy on top of everything else.
Welcome to your government's health plan! Infant mortality (skipping the increase in tax-supported abortions — since, after all, who wants to raise a child just to produce a wage-slave for Uncle Sugar?) will almost certainly skyrocket. And old people — well, at least that's one medical burden we can assume will be eliminated.
Exactly. Who cares about spelling, grammar, facts, and statistics. They all have a liberal bias anyway……
How is supporting privatized doctors and letting them compete in a true meritocracy "looting?"
Ahh.. so you're one of those… "we have a majority in the senate… 41-59" people. My condolences. You do realize that we still remember that it was the Bush administration who brought the country to the brink of disaster, don't you?
Do you know why Canada has a lower rate of cancer and heart disease? Because the citizens die before they "actually" get treated for their illness. If the U.S. allows it's citizens to "just die" from cancer and heart disease before they even get to see a doctor then our % would be lower as well. Tell me, how many Americans go to Canada for healthcare? ………………..still waiting……………..still waiting. That's what I thought!
I spy an uninformed sexist heterophobic with a European dialect.
[...] » Why has Obamacare become a TEA Party issue? – Big Government [...]
Ahh… you do remember that the Dems took back the House and Senate nearly four years ago? It's funny because statistically speaking, many of the Obama voters didn't know that in 2008. Apparently the same applies for Nader voters as well. And now if things steadily decline – "Well it just CAN'T be because of the people running the show NOW!" Even if the current "rulers" are hurting my small business through their legislation and sweetheart deals.
You worry me andrea2929 – I'm starting to think that you turn a blind eye because you're a Democrat!

Ok, just assuming this once, that wikipedia is accurate. How much do know about economics? Would you be willing to learn something or continue to spew platitudes in an effort to support your ideology with confounded information?
All politicians are liars…it's in the job description. In this era, yes, if there is no video of it AND there were plenty of video cameras in the vicinity, then it didn't happen. Are you seriously suggesting that all the cell phones with vid capability and the actual video cameras in the vicinity at the time just happened to be turned off?
Give it up. You have no valid, logical arguments and therefore you have to resort to race-baiting and other ad hominem attacks.
Finally, it's just like you liberals to look at a people as collectives instead of as individuals. It is an error to stereotype all Tea Partiers as Palin and Beck fans. There are those of us who are against Big Government but also don't really want to have anything to do with Palin and Beck. So take your collectivist/tribalist trash and peddle it somewhere else. Because here, we look at each person as an individual, not a collective.
Among other things, our government must GET OUT OF Banking, Wall Street, Auto, Insurance, Health Care, Energy, Corporate Board rooms and return to the Austrian Free Market System that made this country great. In a nutshell, oversee, but stay out of the way of business. Further, divest RAT cash cows Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Hud, by sending them back to the private sector, where they belong.

Why don't you prove us wrong wih credible sourses.
Right, and the ethnic and racial plurality of all the tea party rallies really speaks to the broad demographic the "message" attracts.
You are 100% wrong. In a single payer system, the emphasis is on preventative care. Here, the emphasis is on specialized or emergency care. Do the math. And why do people come here for specialist care? Well, for starters, our system discourages GP's because the pay is considerably lower than specialists pay, so we have more specialists. Secondly, we have the best doctors in the world, who attended the best med schools in the world, funded in large part by government dollars. That wouldn't change under single payer. In fact, our fantastic private doctors would finally be able to practice unfettered by the insurance companies who deny roughly 25% or the services doctors deem as medically necessary. Additionally, they would finally be able to operate under a true meritocracy because patients would no longer be tied down by the "in-network" constraints. The best doctors would make the most money based on reputation and ability. Competition. True free market competition. Surely, you aren't against that, are you?
And this is where you've made your fatal blunder. I am NOT a Democrat. I haven't voted for Democrats since 1988. In none of my posts have I defended the voting record of Democrats, nor endorsed any of their legislation, nor their candidates. The fact is, I"m a true liberal, and the Democrats abandoned that platform in the 80's when they started going after corporate money at the same rate as Republicans did. Frankly, I think Obama is a disaster and the congress is even worse. They had a filibuster proof year where the could have actually pulled the party back to the left and they did absolutely nothing, showing their true colors. It's a corporate-owned duopoly, nothing more, nothing less.
Yeah, I've taken both macro and mirco economics, along with statistics courses as well. What's your point? You actually think that trickle-down works?! Show me one example in history where trickle down has actually done what it's supposed to do. One. Reagan's policies benefitted the rich, nobody else. Period.
Oh right…. the census is a liberal tool used to turn us into a socialist state. I forgot. And you wonder why the mainstream doesn't take the tea party seriously…….
See above……
Take a deep breath now, close your eyes, this will hurt your intellect a little. Well maybe a lot. WE DON"T CARE ABOUT YOU! Your are too far gone in the koolaide fog. Your brain is rotten and you have nothing to offer. Come with facts, quantifiable and qualified or shut up, thank you. Your platitudes and reverse logic doesn't work here. Run along now.
I don’t know why I am doing this but here goes…First let’s dispense with trickling up or down. This is just another hyper verbose platitude. Let’s discuss the real economic philosophies shall we. Keynesian Economics has never worked. The premise is wonderful but the assumptions are, that by pushing more money into the system, the engine will catch up to the supply of money. We know that would never happen right? It has been tried by past administrations and never worked. Now, let me ask just a few questions. Have you ever been employed? How many jobs have you had in your life? These are important because, I guarantee that your employer was not poor. If you were not among the start up employees you were hired as the business expanded. What were the circumstances of the expansion? Or were you replacing someone? Or were you hired in the hopes of expansion?
If you don't care about me, then why do you keep responding to my posts?
That's because those who voted for him you'll find on various head stones in the graveyards, and in dog houses and kitty litter boxes all across the US of A. Ask seiu they'll tell ya. : )
Tax credits are not the same as tax cuts. A tax cut decrease the rate at which one is taxed. A tax credit is a benefit paid to an individual to increase one's net income.
Obama's claim that he'll cut taxes for 95% of Americans is misleading for this reason: he misconstrues tax credits to mean tax cuts.
So, when Obama says he'll cut taxes for 95% of America, what he really means to say is he's going to adjust the progressiveness of the tax rate in order to fund tax credits for the lowest tax bracket–the one that doesn't pay any taxes at all. That's not a tax cut, its a refundable credit, a redistribution of wealth. The merits of such a shift in tax policy is debatable. It isn't, however, a tax cut for 95% of America.
Obama's may convincingly articulate his tax policy, but he doesn't do it honestly.
No, but someone did write it up once before. Ever read Atlas Shrugged? Rand's work is reading like deja vu these days.
Calling you a Democrat was meant to insult, but you seem to do that to yourself already! You've admitted that your ideology is as confused as your understanding of the Tea Party movement.
And I still come back to – How do you think the country, after it's dose of "impure" liberalism, will be ready for yours? Looks like a bleak future ahead for you my friend (if any of us survive the Obama years).
Oh god… I've tortured myself through every page she's ever written. I've concluded that the purpose of her main 2 works is to turn otherwise unsuspecting 19 year old boys into raging, selfish d*ckheads. I'm not dismissing bits and pieces of her philosophies, but her fatal flaw is a fundamental misunderstanding of the true nature of the human species. We're not nearly as good as she'd have us believe.
I owned my own business for 10 years. Sold it. Now I'm getting my doctorate. Next I'm going to poison young minds with my lunatic commie rantings and ravings. *cackle cackle*
