It Is Time For a New Tax Revolt

It is corrupted and unfair and feeds unchecked government growth. It has made the federal government far more powerful than what was supposed to be its equal—our state governments. The income tax hides the cost of the government from plain sight and provides endless amounts of our money for the advancement of politician’s personal ambitions. It is very good for those in Washington and very destructive for the rest of us.
We’re being treated as if our only value as citizens is how much more money we can be made to give up from our paychecks. When it comes to more and more spending and more and more taxes, it is a one-way conversation. I’m ready to talk back and I don’t think I’m alone. That’s why I’m calling on every patriot to join me in a tax revolt march on Washington , D.C.
I’m leading a Tea Party Patriot team in a growing on-line tax revolt which arrives in Washington , D.C. on April 15th to merge with the huge physical rallies that are already planned for that day. It’s a new technology that allows people to choose a graphic “avatar” to digitally march on-line to Washington with hundreds of thousands of other Americans. Even the homebound, recovering veterans and the elderly can add their voice to this new American chorus.
I’m seeing a lot of people remembering that politicians are supposed to follow the will of the people—not trample it. Like Boston Harbor , this is where we again make our stand.
First you choose an avatar at: www.onlinetaxrevolt.com. Then you choose a team. Michael Reagan has a team, Neal Boortz has a team, Ken Hoagland of FairTax.org has a team and I have a team, among a growing number of others. Every day after you join the march, you can check your progress toward Washington , D.C. on a Google Earth map of the United States . You can see other marchers from your hometown, read blogs from the leaders and count the growing number of citizens willing to make a stand.
The on-line tax revolt is open to all whether they favor the Flat Tax, the FairTax or the kind of simplification that President Reagan promoted and achieved. What this march is really about is shifting public policy back to favor the public instead of the political elite. Right now, the on-line revolt has 100,000 marchers and is growing by 1,000 people per hour. It’s wake up call to those in the halls of power.
This nation began in a tax protest against the rule of royalty, indifference to what were once loyal citizens of the crown and the arrogance of power. A brand new form of government began here that held that government power could only be granted with the consent of the governed. Well guess what? The aristocrats are back, the arrogance of power is back and even taxation without representation is back as our government pledges the earnings of future, unborn, generations of American citizens to secure mind-numbing levels of national debt today. It will ruin the country if we don’t stop it.
This is not the government we learned about in our civics class and not the liberty for which our forefathers shed blood. It’s time for the next great American tax revolt and I hope you join me.

Could never understand why people fear a flat tax. For the ultra poor certainly compassion is required.
But everyone else including all and every entity known to man – especially LLPs – pay the same rate. No deductions. No loopholes. No games.
And throw the darn (for you Vicky) tax code away. Can anyone honestly explain how this is unfair other than our tax attorney?

Here's a suggestion to get things rolling. Ban the payroll withholding system and have all American taxpayers receive their full earnings. Then require them (as the self employed do) to estimate and pay the IRS quarterly.

the payroll taxes also are trouble. california started with making employers take a extra ten percent out of with holding, and when those people file taxes, they will get a iou from california, to add to the one they got last year. once other states do this, and get away with it, we are screwed. they will take more than they need, to pay for expenses thay cannot control. giving money to politicians is like giving a stripper to tiger woods, they cannot help themself.
I'm all for a for a change in the tax code. I do prefer the fair tax however. I know there are some real issues with the fair tax, but I have this one big issue with the flat tax, and that is I no longer want to be required to "declare" my income to the government. The flat tax would still hold everyone to that demand, where the fair tax would only require divulging that information if you were looking for a sales tax "prebate." As I understand it, anyway.

Last week Harry Reid was piously pontificating about the rise in domestic abuse and violence, attributing it to unemployed men. When he gets unemployed in November, does that mean he will go home and beat his wife?

Great work, Joe! I joined up. Since I am responsible, hard working father of 3, I can't take the time off to go to DC, but I will be at my local tea party on the 15th and in DC (in Avatar form) thanks to this.
Get a better qualified voice for the movement…….call me an elitist BUT this guy is not the face you want ……get someone who can quote more than a few SLOGANS…i am tired of of all these "Talking Heads" that repeat slogans. FairTax not Flat Tax. Everyone who lives here or utilizes the infrastructure of this country needs to contribute, whether they are a citizen or not, whether they make their money legally or not. The Flat Tax does not capture the entire economy.

One question for ya, Joe. In your rant against taxing and spending, do you include the 800 military bases in 130 countries that we operate, and the trillion dollar invasion and occupation of Iraq based on paranoid propaganda, and the $700 billion spent every year on supposed "defense"?
Reason I ask is because it's becoming more and more clear that many of these so-called "conservatives" are more concerned with getting the other party back in office, not truly reigning in the taxing and spending that emanates from both parties. If the Republicans get back in power, will you continue your efforts at their version of big government? My assumption is NO.

Love the post! IMO, eliminate personal income tax and the IRS all together (think of all the money that would save). Then just have a national flat sales tax that is not allowed to be raised unless there are extroidinary circumstances, then if it needs to be raised/lowered, only US citizens be allowed to vote on it, NOT congress!
I will be going to Wash DC on April 15. I really can't afford it and I had to practically beg for the time off, but it is important to me. I think the demonstration of people will serve to energize others to do something about this mess. I don't think the powers in Washington will be impressed. I don't care. They have shown their disdain for us. We just need to send them packing.

Valid questions and concerns about expenditures in the Defense portion of our budget. Expenditures for defense/national security have one thing that social expenditures – SSI, Medicare/Medicaid, WIC, etc., don't have. They are mandated in the Constitution.
I like the solution offered at Lost Horizons. Follow the law. I've reviewed their claims and the laws and have looked for critiques which debunk key claims, I've found none. Anyone seen this and/or a good rebuttal to the central claims?

Yes, it is mandated in the Constitution to defend the homeland by raising a military force and equipping it. It is NOT mandated to establish a vast global network of military bases or to invade and occupy a country that did nothing to us. The warfare state has exploited our money just as well as the welfare state.
In other words, no argument justifies those things as "defending the homeland." Oh, and the president declaring war is unconstitutional, even if Congress shirked its duty by giving him that authority.

Welfare expenditures should technically be Ø. That is the perogative of the states. Debating defense/national security $$ is valid. I agree there are some foreign expenses that should be eliminated or curtailed. But in the nuclear age going on offense may… may be valid in the interest of national defense.

Just the other night I saw on the news a "sugar tax" article.My comment was,"Wasn't that one of the original taxes we broke from England over?"It was tea,sugar and stamps then and is much worse now…It will be interesting to see the government try to bust in 150+ million doors to collect taxes some day.Russia tried and eventually gave up and put a flat rate tax in effect in the 1990's.Is that our future?

You can declare more exemptions so that they take out less, thus no IOU, it might be a UOT (you owe them), that is a far better scenario than getting worthless IOU's from Cal. State.

It's all well and good for people to complain about taxes, but the fact is nearly half of Americans either pay no tax at all or receive money from the government in the form of refundable credits. 20% of taxpayers pay almost 75% of the taxes. If you're not one of those 20%, you're not pulling your weight. If you doubt those numbers, head over to irs.gov and check the "tax statistics" link.
If everyone had to pay the tax rates the "rich" do, there'd be blood in the streets.
I have a question when did POTUS in his own written word has acknowledged that he was/is NOT eligible under the constitution to hold the office of president? I follow the BHO eligibility issue closely, I may be wrong but I had not heard of this, please supply details to that comment.
Another way aroung our Federal Government in addition to working on our State representatives and State Sovereignty is once we have Constitution minded people in our State Legislature, we need to repeal the 17th amendment. This 1913 amendment made the Senate race a popular election, originally as per the Constitution and our founders vision the Senate was appointed by the state Legislature (again giving power to the State). The 17th amendment was never fully ratified and could very easily be overturned and repealed by the State Legislature. Lets bring the Senate back to the States!

I joined this tax revolt about 3 weeks ago, I checked this morning and my avatar is just east of Denver. He's not moving to fast right now, seeing I only live 180 miles west of Denver!! It's a good idea, but do you really think our politicians will listen to a voiceless avatar!! They aren't listening to our voiced demands!!! Don't take me wrong, I'm all for doing what ever we can to get their attention!! A real tax revolt certainly would go a long way!!! If they won't stop spending our money, maybe we should cut off their allowance!!!
For the first time since the Great Depression, Americans took more aid from the government than they paid in taxes. All legal actions taken in the form of resistance to, and as necessary in revolt of, the current and growing size of the U.S. federal government are required and long overdue.
I commend your efforts, actions, involvement, however, as long as a measly one-third of the adult legal citizens [100+M out of 300+M] invest 1-2 hours annually in the activity of voting, there is cause for extreme concern.
Further, as long as legal tax paying U.S. Citizen's can't find their way to their local county seat, or state capital, or DC, to stand in resistance to what can only be defined as SOCIALISM boarder-lining on "fascist-lite" systems, there is cause for extreme concern.
The last several decades have produced this massive government control over its legal citizens. The last year has produced the inevitable evolution of such decades. The U.S. Constitution has been breached continuously. So much so, the predominate majority of American people don't even care that POTUS in his own written word has acknowledged that he was/is NOT eligible under the constitution to hold the office of president.
The local tea parties might want to follow Texas lead, focus on your STATE, it is in the state that you have your power. Bring an end to all incumbents in all state and county elections. Then work at the local level to force massive change within your state legal and political systems. If the tea party forces the STATES to follow the U.S. Constitution, the federal government will have no option but to concede.
There is a righteous anger sweeping across America. The Tyrants feel it, and tremble.
I've been advocating banning the withholding system for years – right on rockstone! That was the most brilliant move the government did – if you don't see it, it ain't there. When I had a small business I once issued the paychecks without any withholdings.. and then went "ooops" wrong check. Here's the correct one. Jaws dropped.
Employees tend to blame the EMPLOYER that their net is not the gross amount. It's the employer's fault all those deductions show up on the paystub.
And why is it the employer's responsibility to collect the government's tax from individual citizens? Crazy I tell you, just crazy. Why does the employer have a role in collecting local, state, or federal tax, unemployment tax, and all the others at all?
I'm in. This is the part I have been waiting for. Mobilization, Action, and overwhelming numbers.
