The Difference Between Lott and Reid
by Jason Cabel RoeLiberals are good at closing ranks behind their wounded and ignoring any character flaw as long as you are a believer in the cause.

So it should be no surprise that they are quickly and aggressively closing ranks behind Harry Reid (D-NV) in the wake of his antiquated views about President Obama’s blackness as revealed in the new book on the 2008 campaign, “Game Change.”
Republicans have, of course, drawn parallels to another famous majority leader’s race gaffe, Senator Trent Lott (R-MS). There are major differences however that no number of Al Sharptons can – or should be allowed – to paper over.
Lott’s comment about America being better off if centenarian Senator Strom Thurmond would have been elected as a Dixiecrat in 1948 was a light-hearted salute to an old man at his birthday party. Rather than being considered an article of faith, it rightly should have been considered a gratuitous tribute at someone’s birthday celebration. It is like giving your grandpa a t-shirt that reads “World’s Best Grandpa.”
However, Reid’s comments show a belief. And further, that belief is a stereotype and it is only made worse that Reid now says that he thought he was off the record – as if that makes it better.
There’s an old saying about a person’s character; it’s not what you do when someone is looking that defines you, it’s what you do when someone isn’t. What else does Harry Reid think when no one’s looking?

Right on target!
Part of Lott's problem is that he didn't use the controversy surrounding his statements to make a legitimate point – which is that if a lot of the legitimate federalist principles underlying Thurmond's campaign (yes, he was a segregationist then and that part of his platform was untouchable when Lott praised him) had been respected, we wouldn't have the impingement on individual rights and the runaway budget problems the federal government has brought to the table.
The real issue with Reid's statements, which I think will help destroy his chances at re-election (and I'm for almost anything which contributes to killing his political career) is that he thinks the American people are a bunch of racist rubes. And the fact that the Democrats have closed ranks around him helps to create the impression that this is exactly what they think as well.
Hey, some of Harry "Plantation Reid's BEST friends are neg- er, col- er, bla- er "African American" – just ask him!
Harry Reid = Lonesome Rhodes. But fortunately for him, they'll ignore this in the zombie press.
Great description of the difference between the two. Now we are seeing the difference in the way the Democrats handle the situation too! DOUBLE STANDARD!!!
Harry, it is not "negro dialect". It is "ebonics".
And the comical part is that what Harry "red light" Reed said is absolutely accurate! How perfectly ironic that a disciple of Liberalism should get crucified by PC!

The bottom line is race is a liberal agenda. They eat, sleep and think it 24/7. That is why words like Reid used and Robert Byrd used are still part of their vocabulary. Yet they portray the Republicans as the racists thanks to the help of the MSM. Always has been and always will be.
They were both guilty of unartfull wording in the comments. Neither had a demonstrable history of racism in their respective backgrounds…
the difference?
Reid apologized to BO? Seriously? If you read those comments closely, he should be apologizing to the whole of the American electorate. He basically implied that no one would have voted for Obama is he had been dark-skinned with ebonics as his spoken dialect. There should be wide-spread public outrage. Even more, I have to wonder why blacks aren't more offended. Was he implying that they will likewise only vote for a light-skinned candidate that doesn't speak ebonics?
Reid's comments were racist in that they were demeaning to African Americans who do not have light skin and who do speak with a Negro dialect. He owes these people, not Obama, an apology. He also needs to apologize to white Americans because he is also implying that we are too racist to vote for a black who is too black and who doesn't sound like us. Also, Reid did everything he could to keep African American Roland Burris out of the Senate even though he had no legal standing to do so. Three other black Congressman from Illinois were also off Reid's list of those he wanted to replace Obama. Obama's forgiveness is irrelevant because Reid is his lap dog, the NAACP's ( an arm of the Democrat party) forgiveness is likewise meaningless as is that of the Democrat Congressional Black Caucus. Democrats have to be successful at racial politics and race baiting because if African Americans ever wise up, they will become a permanent minority party.
Trent Lott makes a "racist" comment (on the record) and probably after a few bourbons and branch water about a situation that did not happen (a Thurmond presidency) and he is forced to resign.
Harry Reid makes a "racist' comment (OFF the the record) when he is probably sober as a judge about a situation that is, has always been and will always be true (Negro dialecting folks need not apply) and even Al Sharpton comes to his defense.
It isn't the double standard that concerns me here. What has got me wondering is how much longer will Black folks allow themselves to be treated so niggardly by the Democrat Party.
"…How long!.. Not long!…" I hope
Harry is toast! C'est la vie!
I said cafe au lait, boy!
Double standards is the Dems way. They are a group of "do as I say not as I do." They wouldn't know morals, ethics or equality if it came up & b*tch slapped them in the face (A.D.D. moment: From the look of Pelosi's face, they have, several times, hard!) I have been surrounded by it my whole life, including my parents, & I think that's part of the reason why I am so conservative, I believe you should practice what you preach.
Roe is right in the sense that Lott was simply giving a "light-hearted salute". The problem is that Strom was a Segregationist at the time he ran, and it would have been disastrous for our country if he had won. Sorry, find some other way to salute the guy. If you don't want to find yourself under the bus, stay out of the street at the bus stop. Reid? An honest assessment of the situation spoken in unfortunate (but telling) terms. Do he deserve to be crucified for it? No. Is there a double-standard? OF COURSE!!! Let's beat these dangerous fools on the merits instead of wasting time playing a lame version of their game. We are better than this!
Can you imagine Obama right now? Having to accept Reid's apology? The only reason I can see him doing it is to shove through his asinine legislation of supposed health care. Wow! I am sure Obama is seething privately and sicking Rahm on Reid to take care of business. Mark my words, Reid will announce his retirement in the near future.
Harry Reid apologized for the statement he made about Barack Obama.
Barrack Obama accepted the apology.
I apologize when I have done or said something wrong. I accept someone's apology if I feel they have wronged me in some way. I guess Harry did something wrong in his mind, and Barack agrees.
The biggest difference between Reid and Lott? The MSM once controlled the debate, information and the language. They control none of that today. While Reid may not resign, the American public will now see the bias of the MSM and Democrats.
Be careful! This much ado about nothing hoopla could very well be a strategy to mask a more sneaky end run of liberal garbage. Don't listen to them! WATCH them like a hawk! This minor dust up is a great example of NOT wasting a good crisis to cover more progressive betrayals.
Not he didn't "imply", he stated it in no uncertain terms. A candidate with a presentation like Jackson or Sharpton would never have a prayer with the American electorate. I am not racist, but if a man (or woman) wants to represent my interests before the government, I expect them to speak clear concise English! Accents are fine, Ebonics or Spanglish are out.
I also wonder why more Schwarzer Bürger are not upset.
'Harry is toast! C'est la vie! '
Agreed, my concern is universal voter registration and amnsety for illegals. Have you checked out front page lately?
Reid is finished; he will not be re-elected. Up to that point having someone so inept as leader is quite a gift.
I'd mention the gaff and the double standard but I'd move on quickly.
I mentioning the double standard I'd slip this ditty in:
On Dec. 12, 2002, Obama, then serving as an Illinois state senator and filling in as host of the Cliff Kelley radio show on WVON, challenged the Republican Party to demand Lott's resignation.
"It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do," said Obama.
President of the Senate Lott? Hey Constitutional scholar I have a news flash for you: the president of the U.S. Senate is the Vice President, not the Speaker.
Obama accepted the apology because it makes Dingy Harry his "bottom bitch" in the senate… just one more reason Nevadans should give him the boot.
Trent Lott did very little to defend himself…And, his own
party was beating him up…Notice how the Dems circle
the wagon around Reid, it way different then what Republicans
did to Lott….And, Lott didn't do well by going on BET and
groveling..Every time he opened his mouth, he got in deeper,
and had to keep groveling…He should have stood his ground!
Let me just name a few Republican hypocrites,
Mark Foley
Ted Haggard
Larry Craig
Bob Allen
Having a hard time keeping track of all 10,000 GOP scandals? Between fired U.S. attorneys, deleted RNC e-mails, sexually harassed pages, outed CIA agents, and tortured Iraqi prisoners—not to mention the warrantless wiretapping, plum defense contracts, and golf junkets to Scotland—you could be forgiven for losing track of which congressman or Bush administration flunky did which shady thing. Renzi—now, was that the guy with the sleezy land deal? Or the woman Paul Wolfowitz promoted?
Another great Dick Morris comment – (not verbatim) "What if Reid had said that Liebermann would make a great politician because he doesn't look to Jewish." LOL
I am very concerned about this too. If this passes we are screwed. I am going to do everything I can to kill this legislation, I hope others feel the same way we do. This will be a pivotal moment in our history. If we can survive this we may have a chance to pull out of this stall. I will check it out ASAP!
It's called projection. Creepy.
hockynation this is bill from hockytown listen upo
here is a repost, just for you…
I have seen the most hateful, racist rhetoric posted about Obama on so many different websites. His election rubbed off the thin veneer of civilization and exposed the ugly, racist underbelly of this nation. Reid may have been un-PC in his verbiage, but he was spot-on regarding the fact that Obama was a palatable Black man – not too "Preacher" in his delivery, not too dark and scary. Even amongst African Americans, there is a caste system, where lighter-skinned blacks with "good hair" are seen as enviable. This is not a racist remark – it is a commentary on racism and the presumption of the superiority of being White in this country.
wldbil,
You are spot-on in a lot of your posts, no exception here! What I really want to know is if you are aware of some online source where I can read Alinsky. I have this temptation to buy the book but I don't want to provide a penny of benefit to anybody associated with the creep. Plus, I think it would be sweet justice to get the fruit of his labor at no cost. Keep it going…
I want to hear from the NAAWP and Democrat Congressional White Caucus, oh wait, can't have one of them lest you be considered racist.
If BHO had purple skin with green polkadots and goverened this nation with Jefersonian principles I submit to you sir he would be far more know for that than his skin color…
Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw……………it's ghetto-speak.
Harry Reid, Plantation boss. " we be keepin' yo' black asses from thinkin' fo yo'selves." "Y'all jes' sit now and lets us tend t'matters an' dont lets the white man git y'all bother'd now." We be knowin' whats best fo yo, yassuh."
Galtfan, I too an a Galtfan, lol anyway thank you for the compliment, we live in dangerous times, I'm just trying to open sone eyes…

The Deomcrats have circled the wagons around Reid and his racist comments. When Lott made his gaffe, the Republicans ran for the hills. Look how much good that did them. The Democrats got 97% of the black vote in 2008.
Was this Reid's macaca moment?
Well, if you've seen "Airplane", it is called "jive".
I'm so glad I live in Nevada. I'll have the priledge of helping throw Dirty Harry out in 10 months!
What happens in vegas, stays in vegas baby!!
Dingy Harry gets a pass for this, just like Byrd gets a pass for being a Klansman.
So…What's your point? Do you feel better about yourself for being a partisan hack? Are you scared of the democrats and the far left loons? Why not throw some of the MANY democrat indiscretions in the mix. You can't loathe one party and love the other. They are two sides of the same coin.
A freakin klansman ffs, every time I'm reminded of that I just cringe, how does that even happen, just….how?
You couldn't write this stuff.
Yeah, and the end result is more sympathy for our poor persecuted president.
The issue isn't race. The issue is politically manipulated racial hypersensitivity.
You really don't want to go thesre, but you flipped open Pandora'/s box, so now you'll get it and in spades!
Lets talk about DEM SCANDALS and hypocrisy, shall we?
Teddy Kennedy left a woman to die in a car, as he got himself out of it and then spent almost a day trying to get himself out of trouble, before alerting the police to the drunken accident he had caused.
Barney Frank's boyfriend ran a male *cough" escort service out of Barney's basement. Frank had parking ticket after parking ticket fixed for this boy-toy. His latest boy friend was caught growing large amounts of pot, in Barney's house and Barney claims that he doesn't know what pot looks like.
Barney not only covered for Freddie and Fannie, before the housing bubble bust, which they were responsible for, but still is backing them both.
Bill Clinton and the navy blue dress, the cigar ( which he was using on Monica, while keeping Arafat cooling his heels waiting ), self pleasuring into the Oval Office's bathroom sink, and on and on and on.
JFK and all of his mistresses, using the White House secretary pool as a place to stash some of his "party girls", being shot up by "DR. FEELGOOD", with illegal drug combos, prior to meeting with foreign leaders, hiding his debilitating illnesses from the voting publ,ic, his father getting the mafia and the Daley Machine to steal the election.
John Edwards……………need I say more?
Al Gore and his phony HOAX and his father being a paid off shill for the USSR.
Tax cheats and worse………………………..Bill Richardson, Charlie Rangle, Tim Geithner, Tom Daschle, Sheila Dixon, Caroline Kennedy Schlossburger, Kimba Woods, Lani Guinier, Carol Mosley Braun, Chris Dodd…..and that's just the tip of the iceberg!
You want to talk about homosexual/pedophile sex scandals, do you? Oh goody…………………………Fred Richmond (D)….soliciting a 16 year old boy, Gerry Studds (D), who actually had sex with male pages, Robert Bauman (D), who was supposed to be a "conservative" Dem, was married, but had sex with a teenage boy, Brock Adams (D) whom nine young women accused of being molested by, Gus Savage and Mel Reynolds, both Dems from Il. and Reynolds did serve jail time!
Want more, hockeynation?
LOL………thirty or more years ago, maybe.

This will give you his main premise. It is what I refer to often. God bless you!
I find it amusing that so far, neither the piece by Jason Cabel Roe nor any of the comments here have provided Trent Lott’s entire quote. So what’s up with that? If you choose to bring up Trent Lott, show some backbone and tell it like it is.
Permit me to oblige…
"I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either," Lott said at last week's party.

The Republicans didn’t have to dump the man, and they shouldn’t have, but they’re all nothing but a bunch of Yellow-Bellies – which they have the right to be. And if the Democrats don’t want to over-react to what Reid said 2 years ago, then so what? And, ten months from now, if Harry Reid’s constituents hire him for another term because of a dedicated effort to fight right-wing mayhem to assist non-wealthy Americans in escaping catastrophe because of illness, then all the righties on all the conservative web forums can keep right on whimpering about anything and everything. After all, it’s a free country.
Here is an excellent book, I read this 1975 in one nite, changed my life

some things are timeless….
You are singing to the quire! That is my point exactly, the question I asked myself when I read the blog by Jason Cabel was, why is nobody pointing out the partisan view being expressed? Why are people on this site not pointing out the corruption of both parties? Why does this site only point to the indiscretions of the left, but never the right!!
But not this……………….. ;^)
Thank you, Dear. wldbil also sent some links. Haven't checked his as of yet, but I like the one you sent.
A Rand-ism to make the post a little longer:
You should not have an open mind, but rather an active one. An open mind is like an open sewer, waiting for whoever to dump whatever into it. An active mind seeks knowledge and is always in search of new ideas and practical answers. It questions and tests, and does not rest until it is satisfied with understanding, and then moves on to the next…
I paraphrase, but I think the point is clear…
Still lovin' that logo of yours…
Read my answer to WantMyTaxsBack, it apply s to your response as well!!

i totally agree that trents words were ill chosen but if the repubs let this slide and allow the dems to cover it
then they are more of a weenie than i thought
chicago ralph · "Trent Lott makes a "racist" comment (on the record) and probably after a few bourbons and branch water about a situation that did not happen (a Thurmond presidency) and he is forced to resign. "
The thing is there was nothing racist at all about Trent Lott's comment. It was twisted into racism by the Democrats. Trent's major failure was to apologize for making a non-racist birthday compliment to Strom Thurmond.
Nor did I see a nonpartisan view in the original blog!! or any blogs on this site, am I right? I am just trying to make a point, and you guys are doing it for me, thanks!
EXACTLY! he really believes he's not a raciest when he's really the worst kind. And no one will call him out on it simply because he has the D after his name
I work with quite a number of Americans who would fall under the catagory of black american.
At the begining and during the presidental election of 2008 many of them made comments
about BO to the effect that he was not truly a "Black American". Since the election I have not heard
them even speak of him.
Makes me wonder…..
It amazes me how this racist comment from Reid can be swept under the rug so easy and be excused off the cuff. Reid's remarks in not as many words is basically saying that it's amazing how any dark skinned black American with a certain accent can get elected in this country. By that standard, any number of the current CBC or any local elected black official's aren't qualified. I personally think it's a classic example of that "soft racism" George Bush talked about but the scourge is no less indignant to any American of color.
Right on…never understood why they stay with the democrat's.
The Conservative Edge
Being from Nv I hope so!!!
In Liberaland it's only okay to be a racist if you're a liberal. Just ask former KKK member Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV).
What the hell is a "quire" ?
FYI…………….the actual phrase you're searching for is "PREACHING TO THE CHOIR" .
Since you can't even manage something that simple and prosaic, perhaps you shouldn't post at all.
This is a right of center site, perhaps you would be happier over at DU, the HuffPo, MoveOn, etc. ; think about it. I'm sure that your level of expertise will be far better received at one of those site……….especially over at DU, where the IQ level is not much higher than roadkill and your inability to spell a 4th grade spelling word, won't even be noticed.
No HockeyNation I missed the World's this past year, still trying to recoup from the Stanly Cup Finals from last year.
On this media thing, I'm sure you will agree, the other 98% of the media takes reasonably good care of reporting any GOP misteps, no?
2 differences between Lott and Reid: 1. Democrats close ranks, republicans never do 2. MSM
Hmm… I think you missed my point. Dingy Harry didn't say anything I found to be offensive, while Trent WAS out of line. I think that persecuting Harry is detrimental to putting this whole race crap behind us. Trent gave props (however innocently meant) to someone who was positioned to damage our wonderful nation at that particular time in our history. Dummy Harry is a fading flower that simply made an accurate observation that is what it is. American whites will not vote for a black that they perceive to be inadequately educated. It is not racist, simply a reflection that we do not care to be represented in any important fashion by an ignoramus such as "reverend" Jackson or Sharpton. Beating up on Reid simply legitimizes and prolongs the usefulness of such a pathetic tactic. I would rather it passes quietly into insignificance. Better for you, better for me…
"Hateful racist rhetoric." "Ugly, racist underbelly of this nation." Man, you've got some super-sensitive race-dar, dude. Almost as sharp as Maureen Dowd's.
Actually, we couldn't care less what color Obama is on the outside- it's the fact that he's bright Red underneath.
"a dedicated effort to fight right-wing mayhem to assist non-wealthy Americans in escaping catastrophe because of illness"
Man, are you delusional. I'm sure you think the Porkulus "created or saved" jobs, too.
Agree wholeheartedly. Keeping this alive is not worth it. Many here are calling for Reid to resign. Even though it's not worth the fight at this point, Dingy Harry is now damaged goods to many of the Democrap faithful, likely the more moderate ones anyway. If he resigns now, his replacement would start with a new slate. Better he stay and keep that foot close to his mouth. He'll blunder again soon enough. Let's hope this latest publicity has a bearing on his health care leadership(perceived leadership).
The longer this drags out, the more we can hope that some Democraps have a change of mind. Looks like Nelson might be a first step in this process.
I believe that it is appropriate to apologize for saying something inappropriate…..the question remains…what did Harry Reid say that was so offensive? His statement alone was truthful, so what is the problem?
The political correctness of today is disturbing…..if Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton or any minority in the public eye said this….I doubt it would be such an issue.
No, we weren't cowards, we were opportunitsts: Many in the GOP were fed up with Lott — a "final straw" was his mishandling of the Clinton impeachment trial ("Don't think you can dump this B.S. (evidence & trial) on me…" or words to that effect, following his leaning over backwards to be utterly fair and inclusive with Dems (sort of like the lib's program for dealing with Iran & other terrorism sponsors, by making them "like" us). There was little or no support for Lott from his (our) own side, and it was shameful. It's arguable whether he should've been replaced as Majority leader, but he should not have been forced to step aside on a "bum rap," which the Thurmond 'racism' allegation certainly was.
(continued)
(continued)
Thurmond's presidential run was in 1948, when he was a Democrat, and he had challenged Harry Truman, another Democrat. True, Thurmond was a segregationist, but in 1948 that wasn't yet the BIG issue it would become a few years later with Eisenhower's ordering out of the Ark. Nat'l Guard to integrate a stubborn school district. State's Rights was Thurmond's primary motivation. Additionally, his Dem opponent, Truman, was a member of the KKK (although by 1948, his membership had likely lapsed).
The saddest thing is they kept him in there for 100 years……………………..well almost.
Longest serving Senator in American History. 17,327 days.
He chalked it up (KKK) to youthful transgression.
" I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side… Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. ”
— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944, (when he was 27)…………..OUCH!
If that's ok , I guess Harry can saunter on along for his………………. "Well, he is light skinned……. and has no negro dialect, unless he wants to", remark.
No foul……………………………………….keep playing.
So saying a black man can become president because he does not LOOK OR TALK like a black man is NOT an insult, but rather "supportive" according to the race baiter king, Al Sharpton!
I agree with above post, better watch the right hand because the left hand is blowing smoke up our……!
Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944
"Democraps", I like that. Glad we agree. You are right, let the damn fools play out who they are, no need to let them redefine themselves.
When did Americans stop learning about their own history?
The Southern states were the bastion of the Democrats from the end of Reconstruction through the late Sixties. They didn't just support segregation … they invented it! From their highest elected political leaders down to the cop on the beat, the Democratic party controlled the segregated South as thoroughly as the modern Democrats control the big cities. These are the people who want to lecture others about race relations?
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. ~~ Matthew 7:5
Beautiful! Keep the hack machine going. Mark Foley? Shoulda been tossed at the first sign of his disgusting behavior.
This is a real problem. Toss the dirtbags as they emerge! Avoid the hypocrite charge by NOT being hypocritical!
Hate to agree with this whack-job, but keep your house clean before you tell me how much worse someone else is…
Not an indictment of the "conservatives", but DAMN! don't hand them premium ammunition!
MLK,Jr was a pawn for these liberals. They looked across that sea of The Million man march and said "CHA-CHING!!" If we can harness those votes we can have unprecedented power, forever."
So how did they accomplish this? By creating generation after generation of "victims." Oh, those poor, poverty stricken black communities just need US to entitlement them into equality. They are not capable of higher education; they are unable to lift themselves out of the projects; their ancestors (too many generations back to affect them in the sixties!) were slaves and so we have to level the playing field. NOT by raising them UP to standards already set but by lowering the standards to meet them. Like the cops in Florida? Well, why would you need math to be an officer anyway, right? Like adding 30 points to your SAT's for college seats, like in Michigan? But NO. NO! It's because people who point out the obvious are just racist against skin.
Wouldn't be any different if it were Asian, Mexican, or whites for that matter. What if the blacks had whites for slaves in the 1800's; were held to the back of the bus through the sixties. Do you think the bottom line for these politicians would be different?? NO! It would have been the million white man march and the politicians STILL would have said…"CHA-CHING!!!!! It's about power people!!! Don't you think if it were truly about race that it would have been level, by now?? People have their prejudices, that will never change, but do you really think THAT is enough to hold anyone back from what they really want?? Not likely!!
Al Sharpton is a mercenary. So Is Jesse Jackson. Total sell outs. Totally disgusting that they would bow to Reid and not call a spade a spade -pun totally intended too. Harry Reid and the Dems (not all of them of course, but most) believe themselves to be superior to not only blacks, but all other ethnicities that make up this great nation. The Dems have disgust for all Americans NOT in their little circle of politicians and it pisses me off. Guess what. I am a white woman. Yes, there are racist Republicans too, but not many. We conservative types who are in the minority are just waiting for folks like Reid to gaffe away at us. He's a mentally deranged person, having been poisoned by the power of Washington. He should leave with his tail between his old knobbly legs. I feel really sorry for his family and Nevada. What a derelict. I can't even look at him without my stomach churning.
Lastly, I think Obama is happy this came out. I really do. He can make a God like statement about forgiveness and then have all his minions do the dirty work of getting rid of the old crony.
LOVE THE FACTS!!!
Harry Reid is hypocrite and should be called out for not only his most recent gaffe, but also the many times he has went after others for making unintended racial slurs. His defenders, such as Al Sharpton, should also be called out for their willingness to glance over a racial remark by a Democrat on the one hand, and try to destroy others who may similar remarks on the other hand. I wrote an article for THE APE today. you can read "Race Baiters and Hypocrites: A Tale of Sucker Politics" at http://apexaminer.com/theape/?p=88
Oh, I've plenty more facts to post, should the cretinous libtards want to play this game. Sometimes it's a great asset to be old enough to remember what actually happened, when others either can't remember or never knew the facts.
Glad you enjoyed my post, 2debbiedoo; thanks.
hockeynation………………….why do you keep repeating an axiom incorrectly and spelling CHOIR in a most peculiar way?
The axiom is "PREACHING TO THE CHOIR ". "Singing to the choir ( or quire, as you keep spelling it ) makes no sense whatsoever !
Is English not your first language or are you just a mordant idiot? I suspect that it's the latter.
Your inane query is also irrelevant and moronic to boot. We reply to the topic of the thread, we don't complain about the topic nor why nobody is going off topic and instigating some other topic. This is the cases for most forums.
And hockey is a brutal, boring, stupid sport which not all that many people care about and which nobody but you care to discuss on an AMERICAN POLITICAL site.
If you want to talk about hockey………………………………………go find a site devoted to it !
The Dems cherish and keep their perverts and crooks. They also have far more of them; but the GOP does get rid of theirs, as soon as they are found out.
Sarah Palin cleared out as many as she could, up in Alaska.
It's because Al Sharpton is an apostate.
The difference between Lott and Reid is that Lott got thrown to the wolves, and Reid was surrounded, and protected by them.
OK serious question: Is that Strom Thurman's widow behind him? The blonde?
The real problem is we have a serious "Black" issue in this country, and you have to pretend it isn't there so that you don't appear racist.
From STDs, theft, drug use, murder, rape, poverty, test scores, child abuse, HS dropouts and just about every other negative social aspect imaginable Black Americans lead every other ethnic group in the US. But we can't admit it because that's racist, and we can't fix it unless we're willing to talk about it.
You won't see alot of racist rhetoric over here. Most posters are of reasonable judgement, and sound mind.
And not bigots.
Conservatives and Republicans need to stop trying to make an issue out of Dingy Reid's comments. The simple reason is YOU ARE TRYING TO BEAT A DEAD HORSE INTO RUNNING A RACE.
Stop trying to compare this to Trent Lott's comment sever years ago…'cuz as I remember it Republicans didn't circle the wagons around Lott, they tended to toss him under the bus – in the name of Political Correctness.
Remember this, tattoo this on the inside of your eyelids so you'll read it when your eyes are closed. Liberals and Democrats are racist. But as long as their special interests down play it, the black "leader" condone it, and the MSM fails to make more than a 10 second burb at the end of their news hour; they will always be considered the enlightened party.
Just thought I'd add to what you started…
JFK and Sam Giancana – Mobster
JFK and Judith Campbell Exner – Mobster's girlfriend
JFK and Marilyn Monroe
JFK and Ellen Rometsch – Communist
I admit I bought it and found myself with the same battle in my mind. I came to the conclusion that it was better to know my enemy than to not. God help us all!
The tell in this post is that even though there was column space for a photo of Lott at the event in question, Roe carefully declined to inform his readers of Lott's actual statement. Given that Roe's post doesn't make any sense, that's understandable. Lott said "I want to say this about my state. When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years either." So, given Thurmond's platform saying this is like giving your grandpa a t-shirt that reads "World’s Best Grandpa” only if by "best grandpa" one means "best would-be racist president."
In the words of Gary Coleman (Different Strokes)…
"whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Harry?"
A whole book is written that includes damaging statements or actions about everyone except Obama. Is it possible that only Obama is perfect??? Hmmmm.
A real koolaide drinker
If the Republicans were smart , they would seize this opportunity, join ranks, and use the Democrats' backing of Harry Reid against them in a national campaign. Don't just hammer Harry Reid! This is an opportunity to show how the Democrat party uses race and minorities as a weapon to gain power. But the Republicans won't do it. They don't know how to hurt the enemy when he is down, something the Democrats are experts at.
Our minds are truth-seeking entities I believe as well. An open mind is subject to being hypnotized by whatever.
After all he said he doesn't look like the rest of the presidents on our currency. Thereby setting up a racial discussion in the negative. Very divisive racist .
Excuse me I have to clean my gun before Bible class.
I as a white man am offended by the term" Black Caucus".
When you self identify as being black that is racism.
I assure you that if a bunch of reps.got together and named themselves the "White Caucus" there would be hell to pay in the streets.
GaltFan, I too felt the same as you do. But I finally bought Alinsky's book. Spent $15 and the shipping was free. You can see how this Administration is using Alinsky's Rules. Get the book, know your enemy… knowledge is power. I also bought: Ann Coulter(Guilty), Michelle Malkin(Culture of Corruption), Mark Levin (Liberty and Tyranny), Glen Beck ( How to talk to Idiots), and Dick Morris (Catastrophe) as antidotes. Caution be ready to vomit when reading Alinsky….should only read 5 pages at any one time or you may get violently ill….take two aspirins and stay away from any one you know voted for Obama or you may beat the crap out of him/her.
[...] The Difference Between Lott And Reid [...]
The biblical reason for the Race Issue is simple. God divided Man Kind at the Tower of Babel first by confounding their languages. Those peoples then migrated to various areas whereby God created 70 Nations to start with…and given boundaries….to stay in. The Political & Religious cause for the Tower of Babel was to Unite Mankind for their One-World Govt/Religious system, w/o God. What might be interesting to know, is that the people(s) of Iraq & Iran are really from two quite different family trees….of the three Original Family Trees. The Race Issue won't really be resolved until after the Last War when the Time of Restoration will start.
Please, please, PLEASE, Harry!
Please endorse Harold Ford for Kirsten Gillebrand's NY Senate seat.
Hear me out, Harry. Here's the winning slogan:
"Vote for Harold Ford – he's whiter than Obama, and just as articulate!"
After losing a lifelong fight against civil rights, Strom Thurmond was honored on his birthday for his struggle and toasted by supporters when Lott said we wouldn't have all these problems if we had listened to Strom. And this was years after most southern whites, probably even Strom, had accepted the wisdom of equality. Almost everyone was offended.
The political policies of Trent Lott and Strom Thurmond hurt a lot of people of color. Lott's remark was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Well said and written. Obama and the black community were quick to defend and/or forgive Reid because Reid has something they need – a health care bill; teaching us all that antiquated stereotyping is tolerated if there is a political gain. I think if Lieberman had said the same thing about Obama the Dems would be calling for his resignation and quickly scheduling a special election to replace him with a liberal stooge.
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are the epitome of apostasy.
Lott was a waste as a Leader but Reid is a moron that needs to resign as well.
Bye Harry
Hey thanks for picking up the type O, it is appreciated, but you clearly missed the point, the left sites that you mentioned are no better than the one we are on now. I challenge you to post a Blog by any of writers to this site, that refer to any of the indiscretions that I mentioned above, this is not about right or left, it is about getting corruption and hypocrisy out of politics!! If there are any errors, in my comment you may correct me, but if it is only spelling you are interested in, comment on someone else's post!!!!
I think that ALL corporate media are the same!! BS in BS out!! News has become one big celebrity magazine show, each trying to out do one another, about the least important issues of today!!
What Harry Reid said was offensive due to the fact that the term "Light-skinned" is/was used as a derogatory description of African-Americans. In many books/movies, when a person was referred to as "light-skinned", it was not a compliment (unless it came from a white person), and it is almost as bad as calling someone an "Uncle Tom"….and with the "Negro-dialect"…let me translate that to you "Obama doesn't TALK black, unless he's AROUND blacks"…his speeches show that's how he talked, which I had a problem with from the beginning. If it looks like racism, sounds like racsim, it IS racsim.
He's one of those fair and balanced hacks. There's big bucks out there on the Conservative bandwagon, who cares about integrity?

Hey Jason, are you and Stickman still doing doobies at the Padres games?
By the way…
Obama abused the English language using "inartful", and now the media and people online are using it. It isn't a word…even in Ebonics!
You know it was hands across America when Joe Wilson said "You lie!" Which was completely accurate, now the man calls him the "clinical" version of the N word and liberals could not care less.
I was glad to see Lott go, but not for his comments.
Share your support for new Health Care Plan at http://www.obamahealthcareplan.org
I really wish the GOP would use this chance to come off the sidelines with a positive message, for a change. The obvious double standard being displayed by Dems and Lefties in this flap provides a moment for principled conservatives to talk directly to African-Americans while we have their attention. The moment won’t last forever. There is no reason for elected GOP to pile in with the negative stuff; talk shows are doing that just fine. But, for crying out loud, who in the elected GOP is taking the high road and articulating why it is conservatives who are truly “color blind?” I really want to say this about the entire 2010 platform. Where is the author of the 2010 Contract with America? http://libertyatstake.blogspot.com/
I am a light skinned black woman and after all this uproar this year I am Negro on the census. We black people understood what he said and are more offended by people who support NONE of the policies that would help our community. (keep in mind I have an MBA so I'm not what you see on tv) Reid's voting record matters to us and anyone who voted AGAINST health care does not represent us. I have also seen people wonder why we don't vote Republican and it shouldn't be hard to figure out. If you vote NO on expanding health care, increasing minimum wage, giving tax cuts to rich people or any of the other backward GOP policies you get no support. Can anyone explain why statistically whenever a Republican is in the WH unemployment in the black community goes down noticiably and incarceration goes up?
Maybe she will get an opportunity on the big stage. Just re-read some of the posts in this thread. Keep it coming, you are kicking ass!
All right, all right! I'm buying the damn book! Since you were kind enough to suggest a reading list, I will offer one up as well. "Signature in the Cell" by Stephen C. Meyer. It is about the Origin of Life and presents a very thorough case for intelligent design. Science, not religion. I have several lib friends and it is just another way for me to drive them nuts. One of our fellow posters has a nice site if you like to torture libs and other kool-aid drinkers about AGW/climate change:
http://aprilbaby.typepad.com/
Great scene from "Network" there too…
By all means, have at it ! I just put up far less than even a Cliff's Notes list, because otherwise, I would have taken up pages and pages, just on JFK alone.
Liberals really shouldn't try to get into a pissing contest, vis-a-vis which members of which political party are the more venal, corrupt, sexually deviant…………………they are sure to lose, or is it win ( LOL ) that contest!
Ditto
That was NOT a typo and you murdered the axiom to boot.
You are also misrepresenting this siote and erroneously calling a FORUM a "blog"; not to mention mangling the English language!
This is a right of center site, it puts out the facts on all sides, you made no "point", and I am beginning to believe that you are either extremely young, or have an IQ lower than room temperature.
Get off your irrational. irrelevant obsession, vis-a-vis hows this site is not "fair and balanced"; it is.
As to lefty sites………………they are all, bare none, far worse re showing all sides, than this one and it sister sites.
You are nothing but a disruptive little troll and an extremely ignorant and childish one at that. Now stop trying to hijack this or any other thread here and should you decide to stay, read every thread and at least try to educate yourself.
Lorben, that's what Thomas Jefferson did. He asked for a copy of the Koran to know our enemies. In this case Islamic Pirates were hi-jacking our trade ships. T.J. realized that if the Islamics really believe their Koran, then they will not reason or compromise with us. So, T.j. built a Navy and kicked butt.
In addition, us Conservatives never did have a Rule or Guideline book to use that I know of.
Thank you for the kind words; much appreciated.
Libtards shouldn't open doors around me………..I always make them sorry.
Sarah Palin, if she runs for president ( and I hope that she does !) and wins ( which I do believe she would ), most assuredly would try to expose and get rid of ALL of the "bad guys", as she did in Alaska. It's but one of the reasons I support her.
Now, if we could get rid of McCain, Grahm, Huckabee, and all the rest of those RINOs
I disagree. Reid's statement was specifically about the presidency. In local and state politics, there are different demographics to which to cater, but America as a whole is still majority-white, so Reid's questioning whether a man who looks and sounds "blacker" than Obama could win the presidency is valid, albeit "politically incorrect." What's sad is how driven we feel to pretend that neither whites nor minorities are guilty of stereotyping on the basis of race. The reality is that we all stereotype — we can't help but stereotype because our ability to make generalizations provides us with behavioral shortcuts that facilitate our day-to-day life. The challenge is to recognize when our stereotypes don't match with reality and adjust our perceptions of individuals accordingly.
Jason Roe said EXACTLY what 90% of Americans believe but in today's world we keep our thoughts to ourselves for fear of being "labeled" as a racist or a bigot…it doesn't matter what the truth is. God help us all !
Nicole, I'm not sure exactly what you're saying. Suppose your fellow black friends called you "Light Skinned"..you'd take that as a compliment? I'm against Minimum wage, due to the fact that it was NEVER meant to be a LIVING wage…since you have an MBA, you should understand the CYCLE of employment…as a highschooler/teenager, you get a job that pays min. wage. You realize that it sucks working min. wage, and you decide to go to college/learn a trade/join the military (which then opens up that min wage job for another highschooler/semi-retired elderly person). After school/training, you get a better paying job and are paid based on your creditentials/skills. You work for 40 yrs, putting money back for your retirement. You retire at the age of 65, and if retirement isn't for you, then you get a job (which pays min wage…you won't need more than that if you planned your retirement correctly). When American workers have "peaked" professionally while flipping burgers, then we, as a nation, are in big trouble. The cost of the food goes up ( no more dollar menu or cheap soda), morale goes down and laziness goes up.
Republicans haven't voted NO on health care, they oppose the GOVERNMENT takeover of it. (the Republicans have drafted many tort reform legislations, only to be turned down by power hungry Dems). Tax cuts to "rich people" are a necessary evil…if you take away incentive, then no one will want to make the big bucks (which is the American Dream…if not, then why would you have gotten your MBA?….you got it so you can make lots of money). If Americans are penalized for making money, then the drive is gone and the American Dream is a thing of the past. Your statement regarding the black community's unemployment being higher under a Republican President is completely false…do you realize the the Black unemployment is the highest its ever been right now (and we have Dem for President)? Again, it comes back to one thing. Its either racist, or its not. It can not go both ways.
"Worlds Best Grampa" T-shirt. …That was the best way yet to describe Lott's comments I've heard. Great analogy Jason.
Gregory, thanks for the info on Thomas Jefferson. He is one of my favorite forefathers and I need to really dig into more of his writings. I do disagree with you on one issue though, Conservatives never had a Rule or Guideline book; I believe our guideline book is the Constitution, Bill of Rights and The Federalist Papers. They pretty much sum up the Conservative mentality when it is taken literally and not as a living changing document. Now it time we live up to these documents, to preserve them for the Liberty of these United States of America. ;^)
And still a US Senator…
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!.
I actually agree with part of what you said. Trent Lott was way out of line with his comments you bet.
But any honest observer of history knows that Democrats ought not to label Republicans as racist.
The ice is mighty thin in the south.
…………………….RIGHT ON BROTHER………..or is it ……HOMEY??……..DOG??…..
Besides name calling what useful information can you really provide? please show me where to look for the info that represents all sides, I have been looking, and have yet to find even ONE article by any contributer, that has given me any indication that this is anything but a far right wing site. Lastly, I consider name calling childish, and will not be brought down to your level.
I will employ your trick of a quick post an delete here.
As you know, I am "following" you.
In my judgment you are intelligent, thoughtful and passionate in many of the same ways that I am. Your family is truly blessed.
My belief in God is independent of religion and was arrived at through reason. A very fine book that would bolster your belief without undercutting your faith is "Signature in the Cell" by Stephen C. Meyer. Very well done and strictly a scientific argument. A bit technical at times, but very understandable if you slow it down to what you can absorb.
If you listen to talk radio see if you can find Dennis Prager. I think of him as the goofy professor (stylistically, not content, content is very intelligent).
A book I am currently reading (20-25% read at this time) is "War Against the Weak" by Edwin Black. The author seems Left-sympathetic, but read with that in mind, I am entranced. Hard to believe SOME Americans could perpetrate such an evil. I still urge you to read non-fiction Ayn Rand ("We the Living" is an awesome fictional work ignored by the MSM – truly tragic and heart-breaking. Darkly European in its telling.) "How to read – and not to write" is a great non-fiction essay.
BUT, the reason I did this was to give you an interpretation of the wording of the 1st amendment that most people miss –
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
The key word is "respecting". Modern interpretation takes this to mean "esteem: the condition of being honored". The original interpretation meant "with regard to" – i.e. Congress shall make no law "with regard to" an establishment of religion. It was a non-interference clause! NOT a prohibition! It was a recognition of faith as an integral part of the American experience and spoke to the importance of freedom of "conscience". I personally know a nationally leading Atheist agitator – I am sure you have read about him in the newspaper sometime in the last ten years – and I positively shocked him when I presented this argument! He stuttered and has been very careful with me ever since. (BTW, I often take the position of Christian Advocate when I meet religiously hostile people – drove my boss nuts when I pointed out that there are far more evangelicals than communists in China).
I will spare you my misgivings on religion as we all see things through our own personal lense of experience (which is why I am so fond of Jews). Take the "respecting" interpretation as far as you can run with it, if you get too far I will be there to put the brakes on…
Peace.
let me know if you got it…
Since YOU began the n ame calling on this site, then by your own wsorfds, that makes you the childish one.
This site is hardly a "far right" one. That you claim that it is, makes you look the fool; not to mention extremely ignorant of what a "far right" site looks like.
Why are you asking me to provide you with a site you can go to, which fulfills your impossible demands? Get out of here and go look for one on your own time; I owe you nothing.
This site and it's sister sites are the least biased ones on the net; yet you refuse to stick to the thread topic and instead, engage in churlish reportage.
Psssssssssssssssssssssssst…………………you'd need a gigantic ladder and a much higher IQ to crawl out of that hole you've dug yourself into, to even get to within hollering distance of my "level".
In the current hodge podge of abstract finance, it is easy to get lost in the numbers and lose sight of the forest for the trees. Which is why we provide the ultimate simplification: In calendar (not fiscal) 2009, the US grew its budget deficit by $1.47 trillion. In the same time, the Federal Reserve grew its securities holdings from $500 billion to $1.85 trillion, a $1.34 trillion increase. Keeping it simple: 91% of the budget deficit increase in 2009, under the authority of President Obama, was funded by the… United States. In spite of the the views given, "the nail was hit right in the head" with this comment!!!
I AGREE!!! But;
Isn't it tragic when a party treats it's constituents like a kindergarten class?
Garbage in garbage out comes to mind.
yup, the m.s.media sinks deeper and deeper into it's own morass more and more everyday…
…even the mouth breathers that aren't paying attention will eventually notice the hypocracy.
Was Reid also in the KKK, as Byrd??? I never heard that?
I didn't get it.

Sunday, 24 Jan 2010 05:54 PM PART 1 Obama Care Snuck In!
Article Font Size
By: Dick Morris and Eileen McGann
Highly informed sources on Capitol Hill have revealed to me details of the Democratic plan to sneak Obamacare through Congress, despite collapsing public approval for healthcare "reform" and disintegrating congressional support in the wake of Republican Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts.
President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid all have agreed to the basic framework of the plan.Their plan is clever but can be stopped if opponents of radical healthcare reform act quickly and focus on a core group of 23 Democratic Congressman. If just a few of these 23 Democrats are "flipped" and decide to oppose the bill, the whole Obama-Pelosi-Reid stratagem falls apart.
Here's what I learned top Democrats are planning to implement.Senate Democrats will go to the House with a two-part deal. Full article at: http://newsmax.com/Headline/pelosi-reid-healthcar...
Part 2 – Re; Obama Care and BIG PSYOP COMING!
Watch out for a big Terrorist Psyop that Obama or the CIA might throw – as – they are trying to pull the boogeyman, "Osama bin Laden," out of the closet again!
The Globalists are getting caught left, right, front and center with their scams and the scams are blowing up in their faces as the public is seeing more and more through their false flag scams! eg: Climate Change Data manipulation, may call for some jail time, Federal Reserve Fiasco Bernanke and Tim Geithner with Securities Fraud, The Underwear Bomber No Passport?, The H1N1 Shots are in an investigation in Europe and being found, that the whole thing was just a big scam by the Drug Companies to turn a profit, with untested chemicals in the serum, Mercury for one!
These Elite Globalists are being caught and cornered in their web of lies and are cornered!
That is why they may throw a big PSYOP soon to distract the public from the truth! Eyes open, be on your toes folks!
