BREAKING: Spencer Bachus to Be Replaced as House Finance Chair in 2013
by Joel B. PollakRep. Spencer Bachus (R-AL), who was the subject of allegations of congressional insider trading, has indicated that he will not seek to extend his term as chair of the House Financial Services Committee after 2012.
Bachus was one of several Capitol Hill leaders from both parties involved in insider trading, according to Breitbart editor Peter Schweizer, who raised the issue in his recent book, Throw Them All Out. Subsequently, President Barack Obama called on Congress this week to pass a law banning congressional insider trading–though the book also documented crony capitalism in the Obama administration’s green energy programs.
Bachus could have sought a waiver from the Republicans Party’s self-imposed six-year term limit on committee chairs, which includes time spent leading the minority as ranking members. However, he chose not to do so, though he has indicated that he wishes to play a role in selecting his successor.
Bachus faces a challenge in the Republican primary from Alabama state senator Scott Beason.

I am not seeing anything on the barts regarding the Ballot case in Georgia. The only on the scene report I read was from a local newspaper bloger who titled his live blog "Missives from the land of Birthers" obviously high class jornalism there.
How about a little coverage I know the barts dont want to be drawn into the birther thing but take a good look at this it is the first case of a state challenge to Barack being on the ballot. Obamas team bailed a summery judgement may be in the offing.

Glad he isn't seeking to extend his term. Is he going to support the bill banning insider trading for congress and when is congress going to make all laws they pass applicable to them? Bachus wishes to play a role in selecting his replacement? Gee, what could go wrong here? These people have no shame. Several congressional members are making the case for them being able to do insider trading. Too many crooks and so little time.

Bachus his facing a primary contest from a Tea Party candidate. Surely the Speaker could revoke his chairmanship.
Where is the story on the Democrats who have done this? Pelosi comes to mind. I agree, we should throw them all out. However, we need to know that both parties are equally guilty of this.

I saw Peter today on C-Span as he was speaking to the Heritage Foundation..I am sorry I had not heard about his book before but I will certainly buy it and read it..Found it to be riveting and am wondering why it hasn't received more publicity..Thank you Peter..keep up the good work/

I haven't heard much about him yet but I know our local Tea party group is launching a big campaign against Bachus. They have been hammering him hard since this news broke. They have always been on him because his is not a true conservative but this will be his last yr…The AL state legislature went Republican last Nov.. I think it had been 80+yrs since that had happened last..The conservative movement is growing and going strong here in AL..We just need to get the other 49 states on board!
