Indiana Democrat State Rep. Tells Constituent: ‘Stop With the “Free Market” Bull. Please Don’t Write to Me Again’
by Joel B. PollakWilliam Voll was stunned to receive a rude e-mail from his state representative, Democrat Craig R. Fry, after sending him an email of the sort that elected officials receive every single day–and which it is their duty to consider.
Mr. Voll runs a manufacturing business in Mishawaka, Indiana. He supports the right-to-work legislation that is currently moving through the state legislature over vehement Democrat, labor, and leftist objections.
So Mr. Voll wrote a polite email to his state representative, Democrat Craig R. Fry, who has served in that office since 1988, urging him to back the right-to-work bill (addresses redacted):
Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2012 8:39 AM
To: Craig Fry
Subject: Please support right-to-workAs a constituent of yours, I am writing to ask you to support right-to-work.
Opponents claim that the passage of Right to Work Legislation will reduce the overall wages in the state. Is this argument really a smokescreen hiding their real concern?
The RTW law will expose the services provided by union organizations to the same free market forces that all other goods and services are subject to. It will allow members to ask themselves “Am I receiving a service worth paying for?” If they are then unions have nothing to fear from RTW laws.
A contractor should be able to cost justify “union wages” by using a highly skilled electrician because of faster completion, better quality, fewer reworks, etc. With the huge skills gap in this country a skilled electrician should always be employed.
The IBEW advertises that they train their members to be Class A Electricians, If that is so and the union can keep its member’s skills current in a fast changing environment, as a union member I think it would be a service well worth paying for in the form of union dues.
If the service has no value, then the provider should go out of business like any other service provider or if necessary can the unions reinvent themselves and provide a service their members are willing to pay for.
If RTW passes, it will be interesting to see if the services offered by union organizations are actually worth paying for or have they been living off of another form of welfare “forced dues”
Sincerely,
Mr William Voll
Mr. Voll told Big Government: “I have sent emails to Rep Fry before and have always received the standard form email response back that you get from all politicians.”

Rep. Fry is up for re-election in November 2012.
Perhaps, after that, he will no longer have to worry about emails from Mr. Voll.

Calling all Indiana TEA Partiers, please find a primary candidate to run against Mr. Fry.
Just finishing "Rules For Radicals" by Alinsky. . . based on what Saul says, it looks like Fry knows he's losing.
How can Fry still be a member of the carpenter's union? He's not a carpenter.
Wow.
This shocked even me.
It is rare to find a Politician who speaks the truth, and tells his constituents what he really thinks, of them.
What do you expect from the communist party that calls themselves democRAT's?
I give Frye credit for speaking out, admitting his true beliefs. Now the people of Indiana know what they must do in Nov 2012. It's too bad so many others of his ilk lie and twist their answers to such requests from constituents.
FIGHT on PATRIOTS!!!
.
Derelict in his duty and in violation of the Oath he took to observe protect and defend the Constitution.
Like a certain "excited" congressman from New York, I am betting the "hacked account" excuse will be offered shortly……or a staffer will be the sacrificial lamb.
When we restore the 'free market', then we can end Mr. Craig's 'free ride'.
For what it might be worth.
Here is Mr. Fry's email address h5@in.gov. from his homepage http://www.in.gov/legislative/house_democrats/fry... .
Maybe the nice Mr. Fry will love to get his email box filled with nice emails from the nice folks here. I know I am going to send him one.
Y'all remember, mind your manners, and it is the thought that counts.
All ya gotta do is pay the dues=$
We have all seen union workers that don't really "work" either…membership has its privileges.
If only the representatives in my state were as honest as Honorable Representative Fry….
But alas, since the last national democratic convention was held here in Denver we have more kool-aid than we can drink…. and no shortage of the people drinking it either.
Most Union carpenters I know are very good with power tools and some produce superior work.
I also know of quite a few failed remodeling businesses started by former Union carpenters.
Union carpenter doesn't hold with me, sweetheart.
I'm doing some due diligence.
The email that Fry sent to Voll, notes that he CC'd a Marilyn Cage.
Marilyn Cage is a legislative Assistant.
More to come, if I find anything of substance or relevance.
Sorry, but you are wrong and please stop with the “free market” bull. Please don’t write to me again….I am a 40 year member of the Carpenters Union.
-Notice the RAT does not state which part of the email is wrong just nonchalantly throws out that "he" is wrong then tries to justify his biased arrogance with experience in a Carpenters Union…absolutely pathetic.
Mind my manners? This is gonna be tough!
Heres' what I sent him
So Mr. Fry, you are willing to buy inferior products for more money? Do you have someone to represent you against your current employer? Being forced to pay someone part of your salary just so you can work at a company doesn't sound very free to me?
God Bless

Out of curiosity, Craig Fry notes that he is a Union Carpenter.
Not that it would be anything that I would brag about, but comparing it to being a Politician, I reckon Fry reached the high water mark in his life, when he bought his Union Book.
Which leads me to another thought.
Jesus was a carpenter.
I've always wondered if Jesus would have joined the Carpenters Union, or was he a Scab?
Hey, Craig Fry.
Maybe it's time to brush up on your carpentry skills.
The ellipsis before the union comment would indicate some words, sentences etc are missing Just wondering what else the Rep said.
I myself have written at least one email to each of the 2 Senators from my state. One replied in a manner that indicated my email was actually read, sure it may have been a staffer replying, but I got a reply, and it was addressed to me personally. My email to the other Senator triggered an auto-reply indicating that my email was not allowed to "be received at this time due to the large volume of correspondence we receive", and just kicked back to me unread. Can ya guess which Senator is a Republican, and which is the Democrat? (if you cant, you may be afflicted with a disease that starts with the letter 'L')
Perhaps a fuller explanation is to be found within the ellipsis.
I've never understood how forced unionization laws were ever legalized. I feel like that is discrimination. Why should I be denied employment because I do not want to join a union? Somebody should sue after being denied employment for their refusal to join a union claiming discrimination. We need people to stand up to unions. Next time they go on strike fire every single worker, and hire new ones who are not unionized. Let them get violent. Demand they be arrested. We can't keep bowing to their thuggery and pressure. We need to stand up and say enough is enough.

Nothing like an elected LEADER being a complete ASS!
Phil Hare thought he could get away with being so frank about his beliefs too. His spanking in the election, losing a solid Democrat seat has led to a redistricting that split up a seat they could no longer win.
He found out that folks do not care for this kind of thing. Hopefully this fool finds out the same thing, in the same way – with a pink slip.
I believe I heard a day or two ago that the Dems in Indiana were pulling the same tactics we saw last year….they refused to show up and allow Representative Democracy to proceed because they were going to lose the vote on this issue.
Unions bought legalization of forced unionization by using union dues to get the politicians elected that would legalize it.
The time grows near to ban union campaign donations and limit the size of labor unions.

Call it a hunch, and only a hunch in the realm of ideas, but I am feeling a "automobile dealership closings" angle.
like rush says, no union negotiations include, we will work harder, or produce more products for more wages. they always produce less, and ask for more. the only rich people in unions are the bosses.
It is discrimination, but you're laboring under the illusion that this is still a free country. It hasn't been for quite a while, and the government which passes our laws is rotten to the core.
In that light, it's not surprising that forced unionization is shrugged off by so many. The government steals our money, tells us what we can and cannot buy, debases our currency, and confiscates our liberty on a daily basis, so of course it will also legalize discrimination if it benefits the special interests which prop up and defend the status quo.
No offense intended, but,

I find myself wondering if his time in government has seen his union pension benefits grow….
Stranger things are happening in Illinois on that front…..
"Why should I be denied employment because I do not want to join a union?"
You gots ta pay to play, homie, it's the Chicago way.
He needs to go back to his carpenter job — if anybody will hire him.
Unions sole reason for existing is to extort higher wages & benefits, for as little work as possible, from their employers than a free competitive market would otherwise justify. Period. They provide ZERO value to employers & customers.
Go get them Cowboy!
Fry was a union enforcer and street thug. That response he sent to Voll was about as classy as he can get.
True. And then they went to the Floor all indignant that legislation was being considered without the "debate" they refused to show up for.
I agree CL. I write to my Rep. often, and all I get is the same 'cookie cutter' electronic reply thanking me for my support.
Gosh darn, I'd frame a personal reply from my Rep.
Wrong. The certification requirements and continuing education on products and techniques are valuable to employers.
"I am a 40 year servant of the Carpenters Union and not of the constituent."
Translated from leftese to English.
The union motto is make as much money as you can for the least amount of work possible.
Representative Fry,
Everyone has a civil Right To Work.
When you ignorantly fight RTW laws as you are doing you are fighting against the very freedoms we Americans hold dear.
As you know:
RTW does NOT prevent workers from organizing.
RTW does NOT prevent unions from collecting dues.
RTW does NOT prevent unions from collective bargaining.
RTW does NOT prevent unions from being political.
RTW does NOT prevent unions from being as powerful as their members allow them to be.
The ONLY reason unions would be hampered in these actions is because their workers would freely deem their services unworthy of dues.
Unions that earn their money honestly by providing worthy services instead of stealing from workers will only then be legitimate engines for change.
Just like segregationists in the South, the fight to limit peoples' rights is ALWAYS fruitless.
When you argue against freedom you're on the wrong side of the argument.
Thank you,

These people make me sick and I can't wait till all these lies are brought to Light.
You now, I don't see Jesus paying the money changers so that he "allowed" to work.
Jeepers, maybe scabbin' is why he was crucified……..
I just realized something (I guess I'm a little slow on the uptake).
With their cushy benefits, immunity from many laws which the rest of us labor under, and a sense of entitlement so self-absorbed, that light bends around it, it is now plain that that law makers, especially at the federal level, are unionized.
Term limits are an absolute must. Without it, legislating will continue to be less of a calling, and more of a career move.
Certification requirements.
More permission slips.
Gee, why is our economy in trouble again?
Why don't we make things here anymore?
Permission slips have this nation paralyzed.
Why don't you see that? Or, maybe, why won't you?
Thanks for the tip…but I'll stick with IE!
maybe he typed it that way … I do it all the time …
someone has to produce less and serve as a a bad example for the rest of us…
I keep thinking that….. As a constituent in a district represented by an elected State Representative to, well…"REPRESENT" the people in their district, the representative i.e. State Rep Craig R. Fry (D-5)….. would actually give a dang about the person CREATING the jobs his district which receives benefits, jobs and taxes for the till…. silly me. Once again a dimwitted DEM biting the hand that will eventually slap him back into the private sector!
Could be…Do you honestly thinks so?
BWAHAHAHAHA!
If an employer sees value in something, then let them invest time & money into it.
THIS is the intellectual power of the left. Just like the regressive posters here. Short, curt and no explanantion, no basis in reality, and of course wrong. Unbelievable.
How many times do you think this guy failed econ 101?
well… yes
Just so I’m clear on who to vote for, Democrats support:
gold and platinum vacations
playing seven dozen rounds of golf funded by taxpayers
destroying the credit rating of the US
increasing unemployment
running guns to Mexico
associating with Black Panthers
associating with urban terrorist (William Ayers)
attending a racist church for 20 years
having illegal alien relatives on welfare
appointing a radical, homosexual promoting, safe school czar
not knowing how many states there are
not going to the national cemetery on Memorial Day
not releasing ANY school transcripts
holding banquets to celebrate Muslim holidays
supporting amnesty for Central American invaders
referring to opponents using porn industry generated terms (teabagger)
referring to poor sports performance as “like the Special Olympics”.
Not if they are forced to pay for education and certification for those who don't even work for the employer. My company provides training and certification as part of job benefits to increase employee value to their specific employer. Unions just suck the life blood out of a company and it's Union employees while providing minimal to no value to either the employer or employee.
That was the full text.
Get a Tea Party candidate, and let us know where we can send donations. This rectally inverted clown needs to go.
I;m proud to report I have never lived a day in union slavery.
No union should be allowed to hold Americans in slavery.
Every American deserves to live in a Right to Work state.
He said dot dot dot dot.
It isn't paraphrased, its what he typed.
Here, let me show you ….
Those that can,do, those who can't get union or government jobs.
Good job C.L. I was just going to suggest that. He should have his server crash over this one. Glad he has a skill to fall back on. I'm sure that with what his party has done to the housing industry he will have no problem at all finding a job bending nails.
…and that's why they use an ass for their party mascot. Democrats are mentally ill and live in a land where unicorns fetch rainbows and where a feller can fall out of a tree he is hugging and bump his head on a rock he's been talking to.
Remember that one who said the constitution just isn't important? Democrat also who was fired that year.
Mr. Voll should forward these emails to his local Republican campaign committee(s) with permission to use them however they see fit.
Yes, pathetic…goes to show (unions!). "We the People" need to get them all out. If they're in union leadership positions, they should not be allowed to be in leadership positions in DC…seems it would be conflict of interest…
"Right now we have the unions and we have the gambling and those are the best things to have…" – Tom Hagen, "The Godfather"
Got it now?
Fry is just following the " socialist discipline " coming down from the Marxist Oval Office.
After All, who said we cling to guns and bibles? … white policeman act stupidly … punish your enemies …. and
Corpse Man Corpse Man Corpse Man ???
It has finally happened … blood shot out of my right eyeball …
Fry is the type of guy who could do another Fast and Furious and not think about it other than he's right he's union. And because he's right he's union anyone who said it's wrong is wrong.
The DNC is full of Frys. They got to go.
really??? did you record it?? share the youtube link.
Its time Craig Fry is fired by the people.
This letter should be plastered across the state to show the Union mentality of Unions first, tax payers second
Dues are based on the wages you earn as a carpenter on a union job. Congressman is not a unionized job although it is clear that he considers the union as his employer and not the people in his district. The fact of his claiming to be still a union member says all you need to know about what lying fraud he is.
oh, i forgot. there were no skilled employees before unions created them. gee, wherever would business & consumers be without those fabulous unions taking it upon themselves to educate their members? businesses used to just hire random idiots off the street, like monkeys, and let them bang away at stuff until products fell out the back door of factories. but thank God unions saved us all from those dark days…
i doubt he can spell 'econ 101'…
Isn't it time that we all admit to ourselves that Democrats are commies?
I wrote many US reps during the obamacare debacle, at least those who would allow emails from zip codes outside their constituency. These emails were polite and, I thought, very well constructed in terms of point by point reasons why the bill should not be passed. One of them responded that I was 'uneducated' and 'ignorant' regarding the contents of the obamacare bill.
In another I told my rep to not bother replying if he was simply going to insult my intelligence. They replied…a form letter…where they gave the pat reply that I was not educated about the obamacare bill.
Not only do these people not care about the correspondence they receive, I suspect they do not read them and simply send a pre written reply according to the subject at hand.
I give this bozo (or his staff) credit for at least reading and making a real reply to the email…however asinine that reply may have been.
Joining a union is like joining the mob (actually it's one and the same depending on the union). You can't get out even if you want to.
Alternative Translation: "They first had me try to operate a saw, but I nearly sawed off my own hand. Then they had me hammer some nails, but I could only hit myself in the head. Then they had me help put up cabinets, but I kept putting them up with the opening facing the wall. Finally I picked up a nail gun and sprayed the entire work site before they tackled me to the ground. The union decided it was safer to get me into politics, so here I am!"

Let the carpenter know what you think of his skills as a state Representative.
40 year memebr of the Carpenters Union, thats his religion, it explains everything. I bet he's wealthy man now.
"Unions suck."
I think that about nails it don't you?
This is one of the prime reasons for term limits. Mr Voll stated his beliefs, position and concerns clearly and concisely. Mr Fry, on the other hand, did not offer any rebuttal or offer views on his own stance, other than "You're wrong, please don't write to me anymore." I encourage Mr Voll and his friends to send letters every day until election time. Then make it their mission to kick this jerk out of office.
Term limits will never pass, why would they vote in a law that would strip them from leaching off the working for the rest of their lives? We have crooks making our laws, how freaking crazy is that?
"He should have his server crash over this one."
That is the tactics of OWS and Anonymous. Since when is a DoS (Denial of Service) attack a reputable act?
I am quite sure that is not what Cowboy was calling for. "Mind your manners" includes not instigating malicious or damaging acts in the cyber world.
I suppose Rep. Fry missed the chapter in the "Elected Official's Handbook" that said he is supposed to represent ALL constituents.
Unions are bad for Americans. Unions are bad for America. Unions benefit the thugs who run them and the politicians who keep the thugs in power.
His server should crash because of the volume of mail received, notfrom any malicious act of sabotage.
Methinks he wants to go back to being a carpenter instead of a congressman…
as always, YMMV.
Spoken like another Carpenter (Pheasant)!
Hat Tip and nice to meet ya
No doubt why he is in politics. After 40 years of compounded increases in wage and benefits who can afford him? Get out the Crisco….let's Fry this turkey on election day.
Purposely sending a large volume of email that crashes a server is a malicious act. It is technically a DoS attack. During the period the server is crashed it is not available for it's normal and intended use.Now if you are suggesting that the server in question isn't designed or implemented properly and that it should have foreseen a bump in traffic to cover the influx of mail when a politician says something stupid in the extreme … that's a bit different. I'm merely raising the point to show how the language used is virtually identical to that used in OWS public property squatting and Anonymous internet barrages. It encompasses a kind of plausible deniability while subtly forwarding a suggestion to accomplish a malicious act at the same time. Please consider the blowback ie unintended consequences … of actually crashing a gov email server with an influx of mail all directed at a single recipient. The perpetrators will be held accountable for attacking a gov service. The politician won't be accused of saying stupid stuff.Don't get me wrong here. Clearly this IN state Rep hasn't a clue how labor markets work, or rather how the labor market would work in a free and open market. Or maybe he does… and he's against the idea that people should be allowed to enter or avoid markets at their own free will.
I am NOT talking about ONE person sending enough e-mail to crash a
server. I AM talking about public OUTRAGE at the politico who has
drawn the response. Iwould hope there is enough outrage at how this
person was treated by his ELECTED representitve that MANY people, so
many people would respond as to crash his server. Sorry for any
confusion.
Here's a heart-warming story from last year here in Mishawaka. Fry ran for the office of Mayor of Mishawaka, and lost handily. The good residents of this fine town rejected him and his ideas. http://www.fox28.com/story/15993748/wood-wins-mis...
The problem is that South Bend (also in St. Joseph County) is bigger than Mishawaka and squarely Democrat. That's how Fry and Minority Speaker Pat Bauer keep getting re-elected. Oh, and speaking of St. Joseph county, it may come as no surprise that Obama got on the primary ballot here with hundreds of fake signatures….that also made national news recently. I love my hometown, but this is one screwed up County. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/12/07/indian...
The original letter by Mr. Voll sounds like he is either an unhappy member of the IBEW or a contractor forced to hire IBEW members. (or both)
Mr. Fry's reply gives a strong hint as to why he probably shouldn't be in Congress or any other position of responsibility.
Before retirement, I was an electrician/electronics technician my entire working life, and an IBEW member for over 30 years. Over the passage of those years I became ever more concerned by the decay of the management of the IBEW.
Back to the strong hint. Once in a discussion during a meeting about our apprentice training program, the question arose about what to do with a fourth year apprentice who failed the journeyman wireman exam for the third time.
One board member stood and said, "I think we should tell him to give up and join the carpenters union".
One has to wonder if that might have been Congressman Fry's pathway into the carpenters union. (Back in those days there was a lot of good natured ribbing between the construction crafts.)
I really don't care if his server crashes. He should have invested in upgraded hardware before he opened his big, fat mouth. Not my responsibility, not my problem.
