Sarah Palin, Leader of the Opposition
by Joel B. PollakSarah Palin will have a strong impact on the 2012 race, whether she runs for president or not. She will continue to rally conservatives, and Democrats and journalists will continue to target her as a proxy for Republicans as a whole.
A new film, The Undefeated, will highlight Palin’s achievements as governor of Alaska–which are often overlooked in the media, where the focus has been on her departure from office.
It’s also important to acknowledge the role Palin has played over the past two years. She rallied the opposition to President Barack Obama during a time when opposition seemed impossible, when even conservatives wondered if Obama’s election marked “the end of a conservative era” and the beginning of a “revived liberalism.”

She did more than support candidates, provide new ideas, and comment on TV. She led a revival.
Sarah Palin served, unofficially, as the “Leader of the Opposition”–a powerful position in many parliamentary democracies, even enjoying constitutional status in some of them.
If the United States had an electoral system based on proportional representation, Palin would undoubtedly hold federal office today. Instead, she resigned her state position and began to play a more active national role. Our democracy is healthier as a result.
There were legislators who took on particular issues, and governors who took on particular interest groups. But few others could have led in the all-around the way Palin did.
Palin’s core of support may have been somewhat narrow, but her reach has been broad. Many critics–in both parties–have tried to marginalize her. Yet her efforts have helped restore balance in Washington–a balance that makes both parties more accountable to voters.
Leader of the Opposition is a tough job. It is–by its very nature–a polarizing position. Some opposition leaders eventually win the highest office. And some of the most effective opposition leaders–like South Africa’s Tony Leon, for whom I worked–are only truly appreciated once they have left politics.
It’s too early to know whether Palin will turn her unofficial opposition into an official campaign. But it is not too early for even her opponents to concede that she has done her job well.

Whether she actually runs or "Leads the Opposition" as she's been doing I for one cannot wait to watch her kick some more butt on both sides. She is the leader we have needed for some time now, and one of the few you can trust. She says was she means and means what she says. Not too many of those in the GOP at the moment sadly. This is gonna be good!

The Undefeated, exactly, she didn't lose the last election, Mccain and his cronies did! The liberals are afraid of her, the RINO's are afraid of her, and she's no Janet Reno either — if you know what I mean. If she gets elected, I'll bet she doesn't quit when the lamestream media attacks her relentlessly.
If Palin announces, she will immediately lead the pack in the polls by high double-digits. This initial burst can be turned into real momentum, which can carry all the way through to the 2012 elections *IF* we all just stop listening to the negative MSM spin.
That said, I dream of being her campaign manager.
Here are my ideas for the kick-off of her campaign:
1) Ditch the bus. The campaign vehicle should be an old-school NASCAR car – say, a 1989 Lumina, with the sponsors being Smith & Wesson and Victoria's Secret.
2) Kick off the campaign right in front of the White House. Sarah drives, 1,500-watt stereo blasting out the campaign theme song, Reload, Don't Freeload, co-written by Charlie Daniels and her running mate, Ted Nugent. On the way out of there, Sarah leaves a quarter-mile of rubber, "saluting" the prez as she goes. Bristol pops out of the roof hatch in a tube top, holding up a huge HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW, HUSSEIN? sign.
3) Urkel's got Reggie Love as his "body man". Sarah's got famed NHL enforcers Bob Probert and Clark Gillies. The blades of their sticks are actual blades. They smile widely as they flank her. They don't wear their dentures.
That's just for starters.

Senator Rand Paul is off my list by virtue of him saying he will not run if, his father runs! That speaks volumes to me about his respect for his father and volumes to me about Rep Paul. BTW, there really hasn't been any stark changes with regards to Israel. What Obama mentioned is basically the same when compared to the past few President's stance on Israel actions. All these men held a similar mindset by condemning Israel for building Jewish settlements. Also, Obama's statement concerning a two State/border linked to the 1967 idea is not anything new to the US Israel-Palestine policy. Bush stated the same during his Presidency, as did Clinton, and Bush Senior. All wished to see the 1967 Resolution, agreed to and signed by Israel, in which the terms stated that a withdrawal of Israeli's army from the areas they have occupied to be adhered to as promised.

Not that polls mean anything at this some 16-17 months before the primaries, but it's interesting the way Gallop lists the front runners, they even break it down to demographics. Needless to say, it's totally cool that Palin is up there- and as someone else has said, will probably spike when she actually announces her candicacy. What's a little disconcerting is how for back Michelle Bachmann is. We still got a year and a half and a lot will change- but there it is…
