Schakowsky’s Newest Bank Scandal Links to Blago, Rezko, Obama
by Joel B. PollakFresh from lobbying for her friends at ShoreBank, Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) is at the center of another Chicago bank scandal–this time involving the remnants of a bank with connections to convicted former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, convicted fraudster Tony Rezko, and Barack Obama.
Under pressure from a contributor named Balvinder Singh (who gave her $500 in 2004, $2000 in 2006, and who knows what in 2010), Schakowsky twisted arms at the United Central Bank to back away from foreclosing on Singh and on several other business owners in Chicago’s West Rogers Park neighborhood.
United Central Bank took over the failed Mutual Bank of Harvey in 2009. According to Crain’s Chicago Business, Mutual funded Barack Obama’s “boneheaded” land deal with Rezko. Mutual’s former CEO also once raised major cash for Blagojevich.
The ghost of Mutual has returned to haunt Chicago politics, this time in a pay-to-play scheme that has unfolded barely a month before Election Day, with Schakowsky, the embattled incumbent, desperate and dishing out favors to survive.
Local journalists have heaped praise on Schakowsky for “saving” the neighborhood. In fact, West Rogers Park has suffered 253 foreclosures in the residential market in the last year alone, to say nothing of business foreclosures, according to the local Pioneer Press.
Schakowsky’s intervention will help less than a tiny fraction of the people in the neighborhood who are struggling to pay their loans.
As for Singh, he is no small fish. He has donated over $30,000 to Democrats in recent years, including to Obama in both his campaigns for U.S. Senate and for president.
My campaign will be filing a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) on Monday. We will be asking the OCE to waive its usual rule against investigations within 60 days of an election, because Ms. Schakowsky’s conduct occurred within that 60-day window.
The real victims of Jan Schakowsky’s behavior are the thousands of families in the 9th congressional district who are losing their homes and businesses because they can’t cough up thousands of dollars to pay their elected representative.

Off topic but important to Breitbart users:
I can’t help but believe the IntenseDebate rating system is severely flawed. To give you just 1 example, “Retired Sailer1” has a rating of 97 based on 2,373 comments which can be viewed here: http://intensedebate.com/people/RetiredSailor1
I looked over his comments and he they are overwhelmingly negative. In fact, I looked at over 20 pages and more than 200 comments and COULD NOT FIND A SINGLE POSITIVE COMMENT. What gives? What on earth would give “Retired Sailer1” a highly positive rating?
The rules for the IntenseDebate rating system are not published.
I would suggest that Breitbart reevaluate the use of this “rating system” and publish the results for its users.
I wonder the same thing about a few others. Piece A Candy is another who…if you go to their page they are extremely negative, page after page, while they sit on a 97 score.
Agreed! Just block the Trolls. They come in at 4AM and mess up the honest system. Remove trolls and the system becomes honest. Just an idea.
"My campaign will be filing a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) on Monday. We will be asking the OCE to waive its usual rule against investigations within 60 days of an election, because Ms. Schakowsky’s conduct occurred within that 60-day window."
A word of advice to the author.
If you REALLY want to shake them up, contact the Comptroller of the Currency and have them open a full scale bank investigation. You will stop them dead in their tracks………….
No Bama's boneheaded land deal? I didn't know he was related to the Clintons.
Anybody who thought that No Bama wasn't a crook is sadly mistaken.A
Things are really starting to heat up now.
Somebody hacked the system.
The swine is swirling the bowl, or is that bowels.
"The real victims of Jan Schakowsky’s behavior are the thousands of families in the 9th congressional district who are losing their homes and businesses because they can’t cough up thousands of dollars to pay their elected representative."
Of course, WE know that's true. But tell me, who is going to stand up to protect these "progressive" politicians when the people they've duped figure it out?
Yeah, something is fishy …
Intense Debate is used on a wide variety of sites, and their scores reflect the opinions of everyone on every site that has bothered to vote for or against them.
They have also been known to hijack old threads and post truly awful comments, while their buddies all vote for them a truly staggering number of times.
Ignore the score – it is nothing more than Obama-esque smoke and mirrors. It's about the content!
But Jan is for the little people. I know! …I made a funny.
Crime, Inc. doing what criminals do, lying, cheating, and stealing.
Ooohhh, good thought CB, you're probably right.
The Chicago situation is almost identical to the New York Pig-Pen of Democrat corruption. Both of these Cities constitute very wealthy Democrat socialists who sit at the top of their Cities encouraging socialist Ideology, and Rule over squalor, poverty, Crime and Illegals running wild!
The solution is to vote them out of office. Replace them with Constitutionalists. Watch them like hawks and drag them out into the public every week for the laws that they pass and the policies that they practice and the Laws that they ignore, such as The Constitution.
No more Career Politicians! It's time for FORCED ACCOUNTABILITY!
We need ruthless Tea Party type persistent demands for ACCOUNTABILITY!
They cannot continue to fill up their own bank accounts, as Career Politicians, by ruling over slums if we constantly put them in the news and on TV! – - -FORCED ACCOUNTABILITY!
There is so much dirt and criminality swirling around the "progressive" democrat party right now, I can only HOPE the Republicans have a unified ad campaign ready to launch in the last two weeks before the election. If they don't, I will be wondering whether the establishment types REALLY want to win in November.
Pnipni, we talked about this before, didn't we? I think it has been going on for awhile.
And let's not forget that Red Jan's hubby wound up in the Graybar Hotel for fraud and embezzlement.
Yep , thats the way I understand the system….
"They cannot continue to fill up their own bank accounts by ruling over slums if we constantly put them in the news and on TV!"
Be pretty hard to do from a prison cell too.
Here is the part that I am confused about: Schakowsky used leverage to stop the bank from foreclosing on Singh, but Singh still has the ability to send $30,000 plus to politicians? 'Too big to fail' should probably be changed to 'Too connected to fail'.
The mantra of the GOP needs to be "Lead – Follow – Or get the hell out of the way".
There are a few Republicans who have let the people down, they gave up on the people who put them in power, and for that they lost their primary…. but sadly do not want to give up on the power.
Foamy,
Evidently, the reputation scores do not reflect opinions of everyone on every site that has bothered to vote for or against them.
How else would you explain that http://intensedebate.com/people/RetiredSailor1
has a reputation rating of 97 based on 2,373 comments + when I cannot find a single positive comment?
Intense debate should either should publish its "reputation rating" algorithm or Breitbart should abandon it.
Yes we have evarilot. There has been a lot of hacking going on. For honest Posters like ourselves, it's fun to give a thumbs up to a great comment,
but to these socialists it's fun to encourage their fellow trolls by downgrading honest commentators.
So I agree with an overhaul, or a better monitoring system. Getting rid of the system altogether would be a disaster for Breitbart, and for we faithful, because it's one of the most fun components of his blogs.
There are other debate sites powered by IntenseDebate, several of which are liberal sites. They can bash conservatives all day over there and run up high scores, then bash conservatives on here and not take too much damage to their scores. Kind of a balancing out, I suppose.
This will amount to nothing. The judicial system is more corrupt than anything they unearth here. Eric Holder will find no reason to pursue this and will bully anyone who disagrees into silence.
Rezko made an agreement with the feds., which will make this so much fun to watch unfold. That is if Rezko doesn't end up in concrete boots in Lake Michigan.
Intensedebate is used for comments on mainstream movie reviews and a slew of non-political web sites. He could get a favorable rating from his positive review of "Ishtar" far as we know.
Not to worry, Rahm is on the way to clean up Chicago. SARC!
all i know is i have commented over 1000 times, i have very few negatives, lots of positives, and i am below 100. all of my negatives are from trolls.
How is he going to run for Mayor? He isn't eligible. Oh wait….that doesn't stop the socialists…nevermind.
Ignore the score sounds good, but it's hard to do when it's pavlovian in nature, and it's fun to give a great thumbs up to a Patriot or to valuable information.
The socialist trolls are the hackers who play with the system. The rest of us just use it honestly. If the trolls could be controlled that would be getting at the crux of the problem.
Why should good Americans be deprived of encouraging one another while a socialist Troll focuses on destruction?
I think they have good plans ready to go…
how can they be victims, she got elected from that district, if they vote for crap, what do they expect. i think it's time for that district to vote for somebody else. chicago always votes for crap, when i lived there it was very funny. my congressman was sidney yates. he would send questioneers, and i would respond. i was surprised when most of the people in the district filled them out close to how i did. then the hammer came out, he would then say, i know what you want, but i cannot vote that way, sorry. he was an elite, i never ever saw him in the district, he lived in dc, and only came home to campaign. so i just moved out of his district.
The problem is not that trolls come on in big numbers to change the thumbs up/down. The reputation rating system itself is flawed.
http://intensedebate.com/people/RetiredSailor1 has not single positive comment in his 2,373 + comments.
I wouldn't worry about it too much, for the following reasons:
1) A red-flagged, very negative score indicates an obvious troll or Moby. They have no purpose other than to stir the pot. They have nothing to contribute but garbage.
2) Individuals with non-negative scores, who nonetheless post nonsense, obviously are getting a positive response elsewhere. It's easy to peek at the kind of things they say amongst their fellows, and call them on it here. Admittedly, in this scenario, separating the ignorant from the merely stupid is a little more effort.
Getting back to the rating system. Andrew Breitbart said that he only has 9 employees and the rest is us!
Maybe with the success of his blogging sites he can hire another employee to monitor the use and mis-use of the rating system. Since it is one of the best parts of Breitbart's blogs, I think that would be the pragmatic thing to do and a good business investment in building his company.
Do not remove the rating system. That would cause a dive in the company. Just control it with fair monitoring to prevent nefarious hackers.
Hey Rahm, great start to your campaign. Haha Haha http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/news/politics/emanuel-...
Who cares what someone's rating is anyway? I think the whole rating system is ridiculous. It promotes groupthink and encourages people to post mindless, generic comments in order to boost their ratings. For example, if someone were to post one of the first comments on a story and post something that required no thought like "Obama sucks" or "I don't like taxes," they would get 40+ thumbs ups. However, if someone posts a more thoughtful, nuanced comment, the comment would probably only get a few thumbs up; if it's not 100% in line with neocon orthodoxy, it will probably get thumbed down.
Just do away with the whole pointless rating system all together. Each comment should be evaluated based on its own merit.
This economic story says allot! http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-10-03/world-ec...
Are we in trouble yet?
With the fox in charge of the hen house we won't see any action,we can't give up though, need to file as many complaints as possible and maybe, just maybe one will stick.
If the latter, they are going to you-know-what themselves on November 2!
If Rahm becomes mayor and with Obama as president…"pardons" will blanket Chicago…including Blago and Rezko! Time for the PEOPLE OF CHICAGO to grow their Tea Party and take back their beautiful city!
Exactimundo. It's OK for illegal voters (convicts, illegal aliens, space aliens, the dead, convicted illegal dead space aliens) to vote for illegal candidates.
Well, good 'ol Callipygian1 once posted that Pelosi was "madder than a menstruating wolverine…" evidently a bunch of wolverines didn't appreciate being likened to Pelosi, and my rating has been low ever since. As long as I'm above zero I'll be ok.
"Why should good Americans be deprived of encouraging one another while a socialist Troll focuses on destruction? "
If you like someone's post, reply to it and tell them you appreciate it. A ratings system is not necessary. The whole thing seems childish to me. Kind of like getting gold stars from the teacher in Kindergarten.
As far as i know, all comments are viewable for each IntenseDebate user. If he is getting positives from Ishtar, we can see them. Yet the reputation does not correspond the the individual comment ratings.
When members of Congress use their power to pressure banks to make bad decisions, they erode public trust in government and our financial institutions. Schakowsky needs to be investigated and, if warranted, removed from office.
As far as i know, all comments are viewable for each IntenseDebate user. If he is getting positives from Liberal sites, we can see them.
http://intensedebate.com/people/RetiredSailor1
For each user we can see the comment and the blog commented on.
Yet the reputation does not correspond the the individual comment ratings.
Dear God, please make this true ! http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Pelosi...
"how can they be victims, she got elected from that district"
Point taken. Are they victims because they were duped into believing a bunch of lies? Maybe; the FIRST time. But if they continue to vote the criminals into office I suppose they stop being victims. Then they're just dupes.
But in any case, if the dupes figure out they've been punked, they'll be the first to turn violent.
'Singh's contributions to Obama,' etc. This says a lot.
Investigate and prosecute if appropriate. At the very least EXPOSE their activities constantly! as this article does very well. Keep the spotlight on. Maybe we can get rid of some toxic socialists through due process of the law!
True, and good point.
Exactly
Your rating is probably low because you've only posted around 100 comments. As far as I can tell, a person's rating has more to do with the volume of comments they post than anything else. Also, if this post is indicative of your other posts, people may be thumbing your comments down because you speak about yourself in third-person; that's kind of annoying – but not as annoying as people who use the phrase "methinks." I'll be honest, if I see someone say "methinks" in a post, I thumb it down regardless of what else is in the post.
Not sure if Blago has been bought off, but if he hasn't, he should bring down Obama and become a hero.
Hi pnipni, this does seem a bit of a "buyer beware" issue. We can look at the back posts of commenters and decide for ourselves if they are a "comfortable" fit with ones personal beliefs. That is why I always thank our vigilant "Trollinators" like Missy8s, Jamesb and such, they are so much help, like a flashlight in the dark. And Shrink the State, negative comments are not "bad." I myself trash some things whole heartedly, like everything Progressive's stand for…..
You get what you vote for.
Maybe next time when people say you really should watch this Rev Wright video and see what it was Obama was listening to in church, you really should put down your Bush hate and watch.
Well but at least you know. so who do you blame next time.
Nothing will happen to these clowns…this is Illinois, after all.
I so agree with you Gary_K, can we add a few others to a wish list of "just quit." We've got the trickel started with hug-buddy Emanuel, say maybe, "I need a break" POTUS and "It's He!!" FLOTUS?
Hey how'd I get down to Zero? I could click it back up but for now I'll leave it at Zero. it is evidence that I've struck a nerve! GOOD!
MR BREITBART, this might mean that my suggested business solution is the right one for your business!
Nice!
Agreed. Chicago, NY, and Cal are cauldrons of Democrat socialism, where the Dems are filthy rich, and the Cities are filthy slums!
If only Blago could bring down Obama, and Rham in his trial. That can only happen if he doesn't or hasn't taken a deal.
Why is it that this kind of stuff continuously happens and these people somehow get reelected??
When are we going to wake up and vote these people out. It's time for us to vote out incumbents from both sides of the aisle!
Me too.
Now that's what I'm talking about!
Abuse of Power, High Crimes, Deriliction of Duty, Failure to uphold OATH of office, and Failure to enforce our Fed Laws, especially our existing "Federal Immigration Law" which is directly affecting U.S. citizens lives!
How about accounting for Hillary Clinton & Obama reporting their own Country to the mostly communist U.N!?
and Obama & Holder suing their own State for enforcing a Federal Law that the Obama Admin refuses to enforce for nefarious reasons! That alone, to me is grounds for Impeachment and/or High Crimes. I like your prison cell comment. Gives me comfort. I hate corruption and injustice. It takes advantage of trusting people.
As much as I wish Joel Pollak luck against Jan Schakowsky, I am too well acquainted with the Evanston Democratic machine that backs her. This witch will handily win re-election this year, and will continue to do so for as long she wants to remain at that post. If the financial shenanigans of her husband Bob Creamer (who has served jail time) didn't sink her, and these bank problems have barely registered on the voters, then nothing will dislodge her. She could be brought up on ethics violation charges the same as Maxine Waters, and her liberal voting base would wear it as a badge of honor.
In 2006 I listened to Jan Schakowsky at an Evanston Democrat rally respond to voter dissatisfaction with governor Blagojevich by saying, "Yes, we know he's a crook. But he's OUR crook, and we need him to stay in office!" The fear was that a Democrat wouldn't be around to appoint a Democrat as senator should Obama be elected. In other words, Schakowsky and her cronies were more concerned with party agenda than good government, even when they knew their standard bearer as governor was a crook and a moron. That tells you all you need to know about Jan Schakowsky and the machine that backs her.
George Bush!
"Why is it that this kind of stuff continuously happens and these people somehow get reelected?? "
Because to the Evanston Democratic liberal establishment, it is a price worth paying if at the same time they get their social agendas moved forward. So long as their voice in congress is a flaming liberal, they don't care.
Illinois 9 Congressional is one of the most flaming liberal districts in the country. To them, being a conservative Republican is a far greater crime than murder.
Not to worry folks, because you're in good hands:
Prince Rahm will dance in wearing his black tutu, and will abscond with mucho-dinero for redistribution.
As you've done for me and I've done for you. Ignore the rating and focus on the content. I've seen guys with high negatives with comments I agree with as well as obvious trolls with positive scores.
Heh. Maybe Soros hired a bunch of day laborers to push the ratings buttons.
And this also! http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/09/barne...
i remember that…and still don't know what you could possibly have against the kind wolverines.
Jan is a beotch.. do you listen to Don and Roma in the morning?? i've heard Jan on there a couple of times..she is a real piece of work….i wish she was our emergency QB last night, instead of Hanie.
It promotes groupthink …
You have a point there. There have been times that I've wanted to sound off on something here but didn't because I knew my opinion on those particular topics isn't popular among conservatives. Not wanting to end up with the red oval of a troll next to my name, I chose not to post it here even though I've not censured myself at other conservative blogs when those topics have been discussed.
Shrink the State, from IntenseDebate:
http://support.intensedebate.com/users/reputation...
Reputation scores are determined by an algorithm that takes into account the number of posts you make, the number of up votes or down votes, and also factors in a time variable. Negative votes will impact your reputation score more heavily. Please note that this means that you will not receive an increase in your score every time you post a comment or receive an up vote. Keep posting and you’ll get there!
I've posted 600+ comments spanning the last 29 weeks. My rating is 79. You've posted 679 over 50 weeks. Your rating is 85 even though your comments have higher ratings than mine do, on average.
Gilligan has posted those 2373 comments in just 11 weeks. His rating is 98 even though his comments receive mostly negative votes, based on the few pages I looked at. (I'll be damned if I'll even scan through that massive heap of libtard shit.)
So, IntenseDebate's ratings system gives higher scores to idiots who post useless drivel and childish insults than those who post thoughtful and thought-provoking comments, just so long as the idiot posts loads of bullshit on a daily basis.
What is it in Chicago? When the mobsters lost their Bootlegging business after Prohibition did they all decide to become Politicans? Sure as Hell seems like it.
Fantastic response! I recognize this is the problem. I think sometimes it just makes me feel better to wonder out loud about the total lack of intelligence and complete ignorance that is so rampant in this country.
Auntie — Thanks for the input.
Must be a pretty screwy algorithm if hugely negative comment ratings generate a high reputation
(e.g. RetiredSocialist1 — i mean RetiredSailor1– http://intensedebate.com/people/RetiredSailor1 )
hi pnipni, when I got back here just now you were "down" to minus one. I upped you just because, so now you are zero. But hey, I guess that is good, we must be pissing some poor troll off who has nothing better to do, wow, what a negative life…..Thumb down, Thumb down, Thumb down,…….zzzzzzz……. ;P
Thanks DB523! That's what City Hawks do! I've done that for so many regulars.
Maybe they just get ticked off at someone and then stalk them for a while until another offender comes along. Wierdo's.
One time I mentioned Unions and they went after me like locusts! Every comment I made about Unions was dinged down. I think they work in squads. he-he.
Yeah, RetiredSailor1 is Gilligan.
On another thread CheesecakeLarry (I like him, funny guy) called them "E-Thugs" I thought that about summed it up.
Cowboy Logic, straight off the back of the chuckwagon, is good eating !
A distant cousin to the Bushs' I hear. Especially since history has shown that Clinton & Bush Sr. seemed joined at the hip since 80's ?
I usually catch at least an hour or so of Don and Roma. I have also caught her on the show a few times and I have to tip my hat to Don…he is pretty nice to her. When she is on the show I notice my blood pressure goes up and I yell bad things at the radio. I can't stand her.
p.s. I wouldn't wish the emergency QB job on anyone. I wouldn't mind seeing her as the head coach.
It is hard to beat the ruling class & the campaign cash. When the voters opinion is decided by the same TV that gets the cash, then reports the news.
When voters are uninformed-lied too, or paid off. They deserve what they get. Tea Party says to be informed, know your history. And you can do better.
The enemy is the "ruling class" very wealthy elites getting bailouts, combined with very poor also getting treasury cash to vote with the elites. They both control the gov't, thus have voted themselves money from the treasury, out in the open. At the expense of hard working class middle America. That is #1 reason for Tea Party movement. This has been going on for years now, the worst part is that the money they vote themselves to retain power is BORROWED money !
Hack Holder needs to be investigated himself, not only for dropping charges against TNBPP and going after AZ, but also for the Marc Rich pardon and the pardon for the FALN terrorists, who weren't even asking for a pardon, but who were the recipient of Holder's largesse. He's attached at the hip to the Obamboozler, providing cover and carrying his water at the same time.
Informed voters do not have to be reminded, only ACORN welfare type allies would never know, or never care.
Good one!
His future is looking bleak…….
If this weren't reality, it would be a movie Gary
"Where the Dems are filthy rich and the Cities are filthy slums"
Sounds like the old Soviet Union and the former East Germany, doesn't it?
I'm not sure of anything from "bloomberg". But I'm waiting till after the elections to make business decisions. Same as in '94. Granted their is much more work to do this time around. & America seems more tired, and complacent this time around. I fear that the "real" economy must be "allowed" to find its real "bottom" before we can begin to recover-not sure yet if that will be allowed. Americans now seem to fear pain more than tyranny. Very sad.
Good luck with that, as long as Holder is in charge.
Isn't this where Saul Alinsky started out ? In this side of Chicago, right ?
Washingtons farewell address. He had much advice, and wanings to the American people. But #1 was political parties. Face the facts, the biggests difference between America and Mexico is loyalty to a constitution above a party. But now I am very fearful of the machine in Chicago, as it has taken D.C. and is very powerful in many town & states across the nation. Tea Party or Not. The socialists are more dangerous than the Taliban. That is why I believe the military is more needed at home than abroad. And since they are more conservative than the populace in general, that is why the ruling class keeps them deployed and avoids counting their votes.
