Eyewitness to Tea Party Protest: Adding Insult to Insult
by Joel B. PollakI was actually at the Tea Party march against the health care bill in Washington, D.C. yesterday. I don’t attend political events on the Jewish Sabbath, so I simply decided to go and observe, lending a quiet voice of protest. I was in our nation’s capital for the conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, and wandered down by myself to Capitol Hill after morning services at the historic 6th & I synagogue.

I saw thousands of people–fifteen thousand, I guessed at the time–gathered on the west lawn of the Capitol building. There were American flags and lots of Gadsden flags (“Don’t Tread on Me”). I noted some of the more humorous signs (“I’m not wee-wee’d up, I’m pissed off”), as well as some of the more esoteric ones (“Restoration, not Transformation”). Almost all of them were home-made with poster-board and marker.
I did not see any comparison of Obama to Hitler, nor any sign advocating violence of any kind. I did see two signs bearing a hammer-and-sickle–which I personally find just as offensive as the swastika, though it is bizarrely trendy to some Americans. There was one sign with an image of Obama and the words “undocumented worker,” which was the only hint of Birtherism I witnessed. The rest of the signs were straightforward slogans: “Kill the Bill”; “Start Over.”
The crowd was far from uniform. There were black people, white people, Hispanic people–both in the audience and on stage. One of the speakers invoked the example of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as an inspiration–and the crowd roared its approval, as it did for mentions of Thomas Jefferson and John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. A few of the speakers invoked religious sentiments about abortion. That was as edgy as it got.
At one point, the crowd to the right of the stage started to boo loudly. It was impossible to see exactly why, from where I was standing, but soon a group of people–members of Congress, apparently–ascended the stairs to the Capitol. If media reports are to be believed, that was the moment when racist and homophobic language was hurled at Rep. John Lewis, and a protestor was arrested for spitting at Rep. Emanuel Cleaver.
I can’t speak about what actually happened–I could not see the incident, nor did anyone else seem to know what was going on. The first I heard of it was when I turned on the news after the Sabbath. Since then, I have seen YouTube video of the event in which Rep. Lewis and others walk slowly through the crowd, and not a single epithet is heard. Presumably, if video evidence to the contrary existed, it would have been aired by now.
I don’t know why Rep. Lewis and the other members with him decided to walk right through the protestors. Did they intend to provoke the protestors? If so, few of those present seem to have taken the bait, from the video that is currently available. At least one did, though, and was arrested by Capitol Hill police–and so now the entire protest, and the entire nation’s opposition to the health care bill, is being tarnished.
Obviously, any such rhetoric and behavior is totally reprehensible and beyond the pale. It is an insult to the nation and to the Tea Party movement itself, which in my experience is made up of ordinary people from all walks of life who are opposed to the massive expansion of government we are living through at the moment. If what the media has reported is true, then an apology is certainly due to the country as a whole.
The only epithet I personally heard yesterday was the one hurled at us by two passersby: “Teabaggers.” Those who first promoted this phrase on MSNBC and who still use it today know exactly what it means. It is a crude sexual metaphor designed to denigrate ordinary people who are just standing up for their rights as best they know how, the way no party–not even the Republican party–has done in this debate.
Journalists have also contrived false accusations against protestors before–as in the case of a man who carried a rifle to one town hall meeting last year, whom MSNBC only showed from the shoulders down to hide the fact that he was black, while accusing the protestors of racism. There have also been racist attacks against black Tea Party protestors, such as Kenneth Gladney, who was assaulted outside a town hall in August.
Then there is the scandal I have personally documented–the way in which groups of paid organizers told their followers outside a town hall meeting in my own community that they should drown out residents who asked questions about the health care bill. That video, which was filmed in August, led me to uncover the strategy written by felon and Democrat strategist Robert Creamer as a blueprint for the events of the past year.
For the record, I have spent my life fighting against prejudice of any kind. I was the first white member of my high school’s Afro-American club. I interned for our nation’s first black female senator, Carol Moseley-Braun. I tutored children in one of the poorest black townships in South Africa, where many of my students lived in shacks without toilets or electricity. I lived in a Muslim community to learn more about the Islamic faith.
I don’t have to take accusations of racism and homophobia. I have spoken out against prejudice before, and I do so again today. I am glad to see the Republicans and the Tea Party leaders do so as well. What is unacceptable is that these allegations have been used to trash a movement that is made up of ordinary, fair-minded people of every race and creed who are simply standing up for their rights. That is offensive to me as well.
I look forward to the day, beyond this vote and this Congress, when Americans will be able to debate complex policy issues in a spirit of civility and open-mindedness. It is heart-breaking to feel the way this administration has set Americans against one another, a far cry from Barack Obama’s rhetoric at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. I am determined to be part of the solution. That is what I believe the Tea Party stands for at its best.

I can't believe anything this President, Congress or MSM says as they have proven themselves untrustworthy!
Excellent read. I am happy to hear that the DC demonstration was the hate filled, racist diatribe that the media (yes, including fox news) made it out to be. I too kept wondering where all the video was to back up the allegations. I doubt anyone will believe that real people are just angry about this particular health care bill. It is too easy to just say those against it are racist.
" Presumably, if video evidence to the contrary existed, it would have been aired by now."
That is a safe presumption.
Further, with all the cell phones, video cameras, and cameras in the crowd, if such a incident HAD occurred, you could bet your last dollar, that MSNBC and CNN would be running the video on an endless loop, 24 hours a day, with BREAKING NEWS ALERT flashing across the screen.
Something doesn't "feel" right about this.
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the "out of line" protestor wasn't a plant to give the Tea Party a bad name.
On the other hand, Unlike Mr. Pollak, I understand the sense of frustration and rage, yes rage, that this is happening to this wonderful country. I just heard that speaker Pelosi and her merry band of traitors marched arm and arm across the Capitol steps in sight of the protestors. She is going to shove this down our throats and enjoy every minute of it.
God help America.
I have watched and listened to several videos of the "walk" yesterday. Not in a single one of them did I hear any hate words except the chant to "KILL THE BILL'". There was a black man with the group who appeared to be carrying a camera/phone/camcorder but they have not yet released any video. The charges of nasty words began yesterday and they have state the word NIGGER was shouted 15 times. I call BULLSHIT on this CBC delegation of long standing race baiters.
As Rahm Emanuel has been known to say, "never let a good crisis go to waste." These people had other ways to get to where they wanted/needed to be. To my minds eye, they choose to take this particular route to attempt an incident with their unmitigated arrogance. SHAME ON THEM for attempting to INCITE an ANGRY CROWD. Isn't that a criminal offense? Oh that's right, Barack Hussein Obama is the KING. LONG LIVE THE KING!!!
Has anyone found out who the one who was arrested is?
Was he/her a plant?
I hold the belief that being concerned that the Presidency is held by someone who does not constitutionally qualify should not be scorned at. You can call me any name you want, I prefer Constitutionalist.
I read that Cindy Sheehan was pulled in by the Cap Hill PD on the other side of the Capital with an Anti-War protest. Check google if you want since I am going from memory.
We're driving over the edge of a cliff, and the media is obsessing over naughty words?
I agree CL….
Great read, and was the kind of information that I was looking for as too the calm reality of what was really there, not the sensational over blown horse crap out the Lame Stream Press, or race merchants…the democrat party. It is imperative for the democrats too marginalize the Tea Party, not gonna work this time, get ready for all the “isms, and obia’s, ignore it. The differences will not be murky this November! …very cool America, keep it up!

I watched a video of all of them as they walked by the protesters and did NOT hear one bad word nor did I witness anyone spitting! That person would have been in jail by now…so as usual…IT WAS ALL A LIE!!!
Your English ain't too good either……………………
While we are talking about racial slure, after cutting his new deal with Bart Schtupak, it is reported that Barrack turned to Rahm, and was overheard to say: Well my Hymie Homeboy, after this vote today, we'll have those stupid bastardz voting Democrat for the next 50 years…………..
Great article, but….
"..At least one did, though, and was arrested by Capitol Hill police–and so now the entire protest, and the entire nation’s opposition to the health care bill, is being tarnished…"
No it's not. Not if we don't let them.
"..If what the media has reported is true, then an apology is certainly due to the country as a whole…"
An apology from whom, exactly? If you mean the Lone Spitter, I agree.
these assholes will eventually come back to their home district, they can't stay in dc forever…………….after they sober up to what they have done…….sorry isn't gonna do it
Perhaps we ALL should.
Organize a little strike. It worked in Russia……….
May the God of Abraham bless your immortal soul Mr. Pollack, may he bless us all in the darkness to come….
May god protect and set upon the people of Israel his almighty countenance and immortal grace.
Peace be with you, peace be with us all and may God forgive the flawed men and women that claim lordship over us now….
Lord hear my prayer…
"I look forward to the day, beyond this vote and this Congress, when Americans will be able to debate complex policy issues in a spirit of civility and open-mindedness."
Unfortunately, Mr. Pollak, it is not possible to debate or negotiate in good faith with progressives. The reason is very simple and not complex. Progressives only want to remove rights given to us by our creator and reissue rights given to us by the federal government. They intend to continue doing this by ignoring and doing away with the Constitution.
Great read. but I would like someone to find out who supposedly got arrested and why?…..I can't buy it, that it was a tea party person!
Nigger and Fagot are mere naughty words? Maybe to you, and that's how out of touch you really are–just about 50 years.
I went to the rally because of John Voight's post on BigGovernment the other day. I was about fifty yards right in front of the podium. The vast majority of folks were normal people who know instinctively that freedom is being erased.
I asked several staff people in the House offices, "Do you believe it is 'freedom' when Washington forces you to buy something?" Of course, they could only shrug their shoulders. I got the impression they never heard an opposing view.
If we accept the idea that Washington can command us to buy insurance, we give Washington to power to command any other kind of purchase.
No mistake: This bill is an assault on our heritage of freedom. Clear and simple.
Quote: 'I don’t know why Rep. Lewis and the other members with him decided to walk right through the protestors. Did they intend to provoke the protestors?" /End Quote.
Answer to that is patently obvious: yes, they intended to provoke the protesters.
They were not there to listen to protests, to accept complaints from voters, they were not there out of concern for the lives of Americans but in concern and promotion of their own ulterior motives.
This was a classic example of Communist Agitation taking place. Note how quickly (like, immediately) the media (leftwing media) started hyperventilating about the false stories of "hate speech" and "racial epithets" taking place (so they lied about things occuring) as also the pitiful — truly, pitiful — jump into this by FOX who declared for hours that "the Tea Party turns ugly".
One person spat at Congressman Conyers. Sincerely, I can understand why though I would not condone it or do so myself, had I been there (but I certainly can understand it — Conyers is the same guy who brayed on international t.v. not so long ago that "Americans…are racists" and implied that we "hate Black people" because some questioned the passage of Porkulus.
Footnote: perhaps that "Birtherism" just might save the day for America in the coming months so don't be too quick to marginalize credible questions about the Constitutional requirements for the Presidency (look what disregarding those questions has resulted in).
Just as today, when Madame Pelosi walked through the crowds, in lockstep with her minions and lemmings. It was an attempt to provoke.
Great article..of course when the WTO met in Seatle in 1999, the protests were sort of mentioned on the news.
The Ayes have it. Let tomorrow be the first. Spread it around BigBloggerheads. Put your money where your bytes are.
God bless you for your courage and for your wonderful sacrifice!
I wish I could have gone there myself.
May peace upon you and those whom you love for all that you do…
Every single person jumping into this "it's racism" and/or "it's hate speech" thing in regards this D.C. protest is serving the problem, not the solutions.
It DID NOT MATTER *WHAT ANYONE* did or did not do at the D.C. protest this weekend, it was predetermined by the Left to "find" some borderline or fringe act or actor and then emphasize them ad infinitum.
Don't you see, jumping into this discussion is just servicing the problem? The Left manufactures these outrages AND ALWAYS TIES THEM TO RACE, ETHNICITY AND/OR SEXUALITY *because* those are the rather abstract emotional keys that then foment people into swerving off course (while the Left goes about it's termite munching otherwise on the substance of the things themselvse).
I refer to these as "abstract" because these are areas in humanity where one thing means one thing to one person while it means another thing to another, and on it goes. No one can ever agree nor will on what represents what in those categories, not specifically without customizations per the individual.
So the Left seizes on situations and manufactures "outrages" so foment the overall emotions in any or all of those regards. Next thing, everyone's chasing some invisible ambulances and the fire is in the opposite direction.
More substantially should be criticized the behavior by the Congressional Black Caucus members, as also the intentional avoidance by the Democrats altogether this weekend of the opinions of MILLIONS OF AMERICANS.
Lemme see, did Lord Jesus actually come out against the healthcare deform bill?
That's great. Now that I know that, I might rethink my atheism.
FACT: Every lawmaker, at the federal, state or local level, needs to be an atheist when he or she is involved in making law. There's plenty of time for being a Jew, Christian or Muslim when you're not on the job, representing EVERYONE of any and all faiths, not to mention those (like me) without a faith.
Conservatism isn't a religion. It isn't limited to any religion. It's a political philosophy that is worth defending and promoting, no matter what your religious belief or non-belief.
You wrote: "Come Lord Jesus, come soon… The democratic party is the party of death…"
I'm embarrassed to think that those who hate our conservative principles will read those words.
Personally, unless and until the Congressional Black Caucus can, and does produce a verifiable video of the "inncident", I'll go out on a limb. I'll formally call each, and every one of the a LIAR.
PUT UP, OR SHUT UP.
@ Mago: last paragraph of yours there gets a big "DITTO" from me.
Conyers' and his pals behaviors were a Slip-And-Fall movement: "owww, my neck, it's Black, you're not, you're a hater!"
I have read about only one Tea Party protestor being arrested. Compare that to the anti-war protest the same day. It was a smaller group, and yet 8 anti-war protestors were arrested. That includes Cindy Sheehan, who is quoted as yelling "arrest that war criminal!", referring to President Obama. Now, in our politcally correct insane culture, racial and sexual slurs against Congressmen are deemed more despicable than charges that our commander in chief is a war criminal.
They can only do this with our consent.
@ SunshineConnie – If you wrote that on Hot Air, they'd ban ya' just for making reference of something, the words used (meanwhile, i don't object, I realize you are describing things). So, thanks for writing that here…
Heard it on Fox News this morning !! Forgot about that, it was early !!!
Maybe that is who they were talking about getting arrested !!
Thats why we haven't been getting anything from MSM !!!!
I was about to post the same opinion. Lewis, in particular, is steeped in ATL city crap. I ventured downtown today (only to help a neighbor haul some furniture they purchased) and we both commented on how much litter has accumulated and how many potholes there were. As for Bwarney, we all know he is the head rump ranger.
Time for the tar and feather party! This will be gloriously ugly.
They asked for it and my only hope is those who forced us to this point get to enjoy the bitter fruits
of their labor and their just desserts. I specifically mean the member of the house. We need to call
a holliday on any and all legislation. Over 200 yearrs of this is enough garbage to choke all the horses.
Stop the perpetual meeting of this farce called the Congress. They need to go home to judgement.
The USA needs a break from politicians of all sorts.
Cindy Sheehan?
Muy loco!
Has anyone thought to tell her, that George Bush is no longer President, or in the White House?
Amen
They cannot and will not produce an individual charged with an "assault upon a federal officer", if ANY police officer "witnessed it" it IS a crime….
Where are the charges?
Where is the friggin' media!
I'd bet a C-note they can't produce a verifiable, unaltered video of the incident. Whether it be racial ephitets, sexual slurs, or the "magic loogie", it ain't gonna happen.
Thank you for your most kind words Dooney. I post on The Hill, FOX and Daily Caller now and then and here as well. While there are times that my words may get out of control now and then, I do try to see if more people can be encouraged to open up the mind and heart to the issues we face as a nation thanks to the arrogance of the current elected.
Come on November to Remember as it is time to take out the TRASH.
Race baiting, literally!
Thank You Des…
Pray for the souls of those to be fallen before God, the bells are tolling as we speak…
I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the seven living creatures say in a voice like thunder, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.
— revelation 6:1-2
The coffee party flopped so they have to try and paint the tea party gatherings as racist to discourage people away from it.
This is a very thoughtful article. However, your statement “I look forward to the day, beyond this vote and this Congress, when Americans will be able to debate complex policy issues in a spirit of civility and open-mindedness.” will never happen when the statist decide their way or the highway is the only option. That is why the argument has become so inflamed. We as a nation are entering a period where our vaunted low unemployment will begin fading as the statist begin absorbing more and more of the GDP. The Europeans have suffered under high employment for decades due to the statist policies they follow. We will soon begin to suffer the same fate.
The racial slurs did not occur. The Alinsky plants will be ever present at Tea Party gatherings in the future so we might as well be prepared for the attacks. The statist have declared war on the American people and the willing lackeys in the MSM are more than willing to go along.
Check out the replies in my post below, I don't remember what happened, it was early when I saw it !!
Someone is clearly lying and it would be perfectly reasonable to assume its the good folks in congress who lie everytime they open thier mouths. This bunch needs to assume some responsibility and experience the unemployment line , or better yet–how about the same health care they want to cram down everyones throats!
The parade through the demonstration was to designed to incite. It failed. This was a naked display of arrogance and indifference. The reckoning for this betrayal builds.
EXCELLENT comment.
I agree. I think it was all "deemed" to have occurred.
Exactly. Do you remember the Rodney King incident where they kept showing the end over and over again where the police won, but negelcted to show the whole video, where it showed Rodney (A big man) was the aggressor. Then the riots that occured after the police trial where Jesse Jackson and Maxine Waters declared on Nightline referring to the riots, "What you are seeing is JUSTIFIED ANGER."
Stand by for the tax increase so you can fund the now over sized, unstoppable government. We are fools not to rise up and instead leave a repeal to chance. So what's next for the US? Anyone have any ideas?
Well of course we are and we all live in the Deep South and have Red Necks and there has never been a single conservative who is not lilly white either!
Phoenix here and started as a dem in Michigan and a few years in liberal Seattle. You must be an anomoly California Patriot, that is Progressive land and you as well as Andrew Breitbart are both there????
Come on November to Remember it is time to take out the TRASH!
I feel sure that the DNA and fingerprint evidence was planted. I'll testify to it: YOU WERE FRAMED!
Already debunked! No one was arrested!
Where is your proof of this rumor? Still not one bit of proof to substantiate this charge!
Only when they can smear us can they bother to mention us. But that is ok, after all the Cartoon Network can nolw beat them in ratings!!! HA HA HA
Also, when they ignore us they do not show how really out of touch and ignorant they are with their poor reporting.
In their dreams and they are all wet because there is not a man amongst em kowtowing to NASTY NANCY!
Funny, I was reciting that very passage in my mind as I responded, but I continued until verse 11. The other passage I was thinking about this morning is also appropriate, 2 Thes. 2:11.
Check on Cindy Sheehan who was hauled off yesterday from a war demonstration on the other side of the capital.
The revelations are unfolding before our eyes, pray…
We all got em and long as you visit and remember and learn from them it's ok.
Capitol PD spokesperson Kimberly Schneider told MSNBC by email that no arrests were made concerning a spitter…more lies by somoene
I predict a long hot ugly summer with Barack Hussein Obama pushing for Amnesty Immigration, EPA, Cap&Tax, and any other fool thing they can come up with to separate the wage earners from income to support more reparations.
Soon it will be time to take out the trash and we will have a NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER!!!
My sister informed me yesterday that ABC Nightly News reported the spitting and racial slurs and I told her if you dont hear or see it for yourself, do not believe it. We have family on Capitol Police who had heard nothing of these incidents. Capitol Police can be seen in the vids…the media is full of liars and scoundrels who stop at nothing to win.
Here's a question : In the context of history, which date will prove more damaging to our nation: 9/11 or 3/21?
Ha. Ha.
~ Nelson Muntz
I see IT, why doesn't anyone else? It's because our brains have been rewired to think politically correct. We are talking our livelihoods here and people are WORRIED THAT WE LOOKED MEAN OR HATEFUL. WTF? Does no one have any b@lls any more? Oh we don't want Health Care but we need to be as polite as possible about it. Well this has gotten us healthcare. I don't give a flying freaking F what the Left thinks about me we are talking about OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE. We want our kids to take it up the wazoo as well? Well they will NOW. This has all been a worthless waste of our energy. OH BUT WE ALL LOOK LIKE GOOD PEOPLE NOW
People on the street. This is one of many reasons why we are at a disadvantage. We have to provide for our families, and cannot organize quickly to protest. We have real and important providing to do.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hZ79RHOmeI&fe...
I tend to agree with those who say that Tea Party gatherings have evolved into something akin to Klan meetings. It is sad that you are defending hate-speech and blaming a black congressmen for going to the Capitol to do his job. This current example of Tea Party vitriol is right up there with Tea Party members harassing and berating a man with Parkinson's disease because he was in favor of health care reform. The Tea Party movement is a truly pathetic aspect of American life right now. Hopefully the health care bill will pass in next few days and the Tea Party can turn its hatred to something else.
He IS the deceiver in the bible and he WILL lead many souls to hell….
This is the same tactic they used at the McCain rallies where they claimed racist comments were made.
I witnessed no "hate" at the protest. Yes, people are angry, but mostly the feeling I got was that folks were energized, and that even if the bill passes, that the fight isn't over. I believe this "march" of Rep. Lewis was nothing more than a stunt, trying to provoke a reaction from people by taunting them. I was way too far away to see or realize what was happening at the time, but I will say that the people surrounding me were pleasant and polite, and never once did I ever hear anyone use any offensive slur to describe Obama or any member of Congress. Too bad I can't say the same about Obama or Congress when they have described us.
I'm thinking once this thing sinks into the heads of the people who have put in countless hours protesting this behemoth they might just wake up and realize we are truly screwed. Our employees took it upon themselves to take over our company and give away the store. If no one else is as p*ssed off as I am, then there is a problem. How does a bill pass that a minimum of 70% of the people opposed? Tell me, HOW? HOW can this happen? It's like you are with 10 of your friends 7 of you want to go to a movie and 3 want to bowl. So you go bowling? OH H3LL NO you go to the movies, that is unless those 3 are paying for all the bowling.
O A, I have been calling for GRIDLOCK for 3 months, it is the only we will be safe from these fiends.
I propose a massive civil disobedience by conservatives as taught to us so well by the left. If twenty five or thirty million people refuse to obey the purchase law, that system that is supposed to keep watch and penalize the non payers will be hopelessly overloaded….and even more people will be emboldened to "opt out" of being forced to pay. Imagine, sixty to eighty million people telling the IRS to pound sand….and then daring them to do something about it. Enforcement is possible only when the majority agrees to be enforced. And from what I am hearing in my neck of the woods….there are a great deal of people who arent going to go along with this unconstitutional mandate for socialism. It starts when one person says, "NO, I am not going to obey this unconstitutional law". And then others…and then thousands….then millions. Screw the congress and their nefarious bullshit! As long as WE THE PEOPLE say no, they wont be able to enforce crap. Food for thought, and no, I am not going to go along with it. I have said no. And I mean no. Come what may.
Capital police now saying they arrested nobody today.
Who is the racist? The Black Caucus will not let anyone who is not black in the caucus even if they represent a heavily black populated district.
funny….
The only people who use those words are black comedians!
My husband and I attended the rally in DC yesterday. There were tens of thousands of people there – yes, there was a lot of frustration, even anger, but I honestly did not hear any racist or deeply offensive comments from anyone. 99% of the signs we saw were not offensive in any way – I'm sure there are enough pictures and video's from the rally posted online by now. We spoke with many protesters yesterday; there were people from different states concerned with different issues, but mostly with a government having too much control over their lives and angry about losing their freedoms. They felt that their elected representatives weren't listening to them and weren't being honest with them. I didn't see any acts of violence or misconduct. Is it still possible that what happened to Rep. John Lewis, and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver was true? Could there have been a few "bad apples"? Sure. Again, there were tens of thousands of people there. I just wanted to share my personal observations of the atmosphere at the rally and I also can't help but remember the comments made in the state-run media when we protested against the communist government in 1980 in Poland. They lied about us being violent, they called us names, and they said we were the "enemies of society". They also always lied about the sizes of the crowds…
Dooney,….." One person spat at Congressman Conyers." Please site your source for this
statement. This is serious business & I have seen no such action referred to elsewhere.
Admittedly I have been 'out of the loop' for a few hours today, however I have seen it reported
that NO T Party demonstrator was arrested. (source MSNBC e-mail from Capitol Police) I
would be greatly obliged for a reply.
You need to study the original Tea Party. It was a breaking of a valid and proper law. It was a criminal conspiracy and act. Who did we blame? Was it the Tea Partiers? When people are pushed to far sometimes they behave in ways that go beyond "reasonable discourse".
I do not condem the one or two. I condem the arrogance of the democrats. I condem that lack of an impartial media who has become the democrats biggest cheerleader and campaign contributors. But for media cheerleading the 55% opposition to this legilsation would be 65-70%. People are frustrated because the will of the people is not only being ignored, it is being rediculed, insulted and lied about.
The actions of the news people at ABC, NBC and CBS are going to encourage further irrational and over the top responses. At this point I am one who thinks those responses are long overdue. Given the chance I would support and join them.
Mr. Pollak, I really respect your views and opinions. You are measured and exact without retreating an inch from the strength of your beliefs. This is what separates thinking men and women from panderers and lazy thinkers. Please write here more often!
I sure am curious as to why the Hammer and Sickle symbol is to you "just as offensive as the swastika, though it is bizarrely trendy to some Americans." Both are symbols of a ideology, and while the swastika was the symbol of Nazi Germany which is no more, and the Hammer and Sickle were the symbol of Soviet Russia. Both were oligarchical governments with dictator-like figureheads that thought they knew what was best for the sheeple.
When Tea Party Protesters (I refuse to belittle them by calling them Tea Partiers) carry posters bearing thos symbols they are connecting their objections to the current government's ideology with those of the governments that bore those symbols. Offensive as they may be to you, the intention is to warn. The ideologies of our current administration as well as those who used these symbols *share* striking similarities, especially in the early stages of implementing a strategy.
Everyone worships SOMETHING. Just a little poke in the middle of all of this swill.
holly, I predict the Congress will present legislation on all the issues we have feared,
Comp Imm Rfm, Cap & Trd, etc., but will not really try very hard to pass them until after
the Nov 2012 election. Then Nancy & Harry will call the 'lame duck session' between
election & swearing in of the new R controlled Congress, & the D lame ducks will pass
all those bills which will be waiting like airliners in a flight pattern landing one after the
other on the floor of the House & Senate for passage. Piglosi's final Kamikaze mission.
She will leave the Speaker-ship like the true traitor she is.
I would bet that the "parade though the crowd" was pre-planned to coincide with the racist outburst from a "troll."
It's clear from watching the video that the tea party protesters are NOT a violent, angry mob. What happened when their opponents walked through the group? They cleared a path for them and did nothing more than chant "Kill the Bill". It looks like one person did try to get his sign in front of someone's face, but this is really tame stuff when you compare it World Bank protesters, eco-protesters, etc. And why were the Congressmen walking through the middle of the crowd in the first place? Definitely feels like a set-up.
Yep.
They did so in an effort to enrage, inflame and provoke and incident.
Thank God Madame Pelosi didn't slip on a banana peel today and twist her ankle, it would have been blamed on the Tea Party.
T R,…….I'm pretty disappointed in Fox, hope their in-box crashes with folks complaining &
asking for their sources, for the information they conveyed today, that I believe is erroneous.
Did anyone see this at American Thinker? http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/03/about... Did anyone hear the slurs that were shouted? I've listened and listened and I don't hear it, at what minute does it take place?
The Tea Party movement (A gathering of good Americans with common sense) are the only hope we have of restoring country to being what we have and always be the GREATEST NATION on the face of the Earth ever..
You can thank them for standing up to those in power that you worship the same curropt people that are doing everything they can to destroy this great nation because they have contempt for this country and they especially hate "We the People" because they think we have it too good and they want to put a stop to that.
But don't worry the Tea Party people are on to them and the statist have a reality check coming big time.
I know he said it, I know he did. I didn't hear him, but my friend's cousin, Jimmy, he told my friend that his friend Reggie's former boss told him that his former's boss's boyfriend who is a close personal friend of a guy who works at the subway in the pentagon, well he told him that his ex-sister-in-law's niece who is a page there some where anyway she told him that Obama said that and I believe it to be true because someone said so and well why would my friend lie?
that 48 seconds of video is certainly good enough for me! If racist or homophobic language wasn't captured by that one camera, running for less than a minute, then it couldn't possibly have happened!
Good for you folks. I'm glad you've found something to distract you from the fact that you've wasted the last year whining, crying and making up lies about something that's going to happen anyway!
Great job, losers!
I would bet the fact was they did walk in the middle of the protest to get insults hurled at them as they would if the shoe was on the other foot.
The problem is The Tea Party people are smarter then that so since they didn't get insults they went ahead and made it up anyway as they always do librals made assumtions that are false but they don't let a littel thing like reality or facts getting in the way of thier twisted views.
I believe Fox carried the story to debunk the story because I am sure they are the only ones who told the whole story with both sides of the argument
