False Populism, Real Profits for Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL)
by Joel B. PollakThe third step in Robert Creamer’s ten-step plan for imposing universal health care on America, according to his prison memoir, is to attack the private insurance industry: “Our messaging program over the next two years should focus heavily on reducing the credibility of the health insurance industry and focusing on the failure of private health insurance.”
Accordingly, Creamer’s spouse, Rep. Jan Schakowsky—whose campaigns Creamer has assisted through his Strategic Consulting Group—declared at a rally for health care reform in April 2009 that she would “put the private insurance industry out of business.”
Yet while Rep. Schakowsky likes to attack health insurance profits, those profits have found a way into her own pocket. Her 2008 financial disclosure statement to the U.S. House of Representatives reveals that she owns several mutual funds that, in turn, own stock in major health insurance companies and provide her with dividend income.
Through her mutual funds, Schakowsky has a stake in UnitedHealth, the biggest health insurance company in America. She also profits indirectly from Aetna, the third-largest U.S. health insurer, as well as online insurance retailer eHealth. Rep. Schakowsky even owns mutual funds that hold shares in foreign insurance companies, such as China Life Insurance and Ping An Insurance Group of China, as well as the Islamic Arab Insurance Co., which specializes in Shari’ah compliant funds.
In addition, Rep. Schakowsky’s mutual funds own shares in other companies and industries that she has singled out in the past, according to the most recent information available. For example, though Rep. Schakowsky has frequently blasted oil companies for their “record profits,” her mutual funds are heavily invested in Big Oil through funds that hold stakes in Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Royal Dutch Shell, and others. Rep. Schakowsky has also slammed the U.S. pharmaceutical industry for being “the most profitable in the world,” yet she has invested in pharmaceutical giants such as Eli Lilly and Merck through several of her mutual funds.
A few of Rep. Schakowsky’s mutual funds also own stock in Halliburton, of which Rep. Schakowsky has complained that it “received billions in contracts” in Iraq and that its “stock prices spiked after Bush’s re-election.” In 2005, Rep. Schakowsky voted for a congressional resolution that declared that the China National Offshore Oil Corporation’s attempt to buy U.S.-based Unocal could “impair the national security of the United States.” Nevertheless, she indirectly owns a stake in CNOOC and other, similar foreign state-owned companies.
And while Rep. Schakowsky recently boasted that she was “able to unload on two top executives of Goldman Sachs,” one of her mutual funds owns shares in Goldman Sachs. (She also voted for both the TARP bailout and the stimulus that guaranteed bonuses for Wall Street executives.)
No one should deny Ms. Schakowsky the opportunity to build wealth. What Americans must object to is the false populism of a politician who rails against private health insurance and other industries while profiting from them.

So? What else is new? All of the d-rats use the gains from the Congressional life style to profit and they know where it is. They pass laws like "bail outs" to feather their own nests!
The fact that a government representative is promoting, decalring, working toward putting a legal business… out-of-business is sickening. That's got to be borderloine treason.
This shows general ignorance of finances then anything else. We should all question where our money goes and how it's used. Buying that Nike trainers? Oh, so you support child labor. We should be careful consumers – how many of us truly asked our banks "So, i assume you're not doing dodgy loans then?"…
If a private citizen got caught doing this, it'd be criminal charges and jail time for racketeering.
She justs talks the talk–her hubby WALKS THE WALK–the Perp Walk, that is.

What a loser. How does anyone besides a complete loser, a generational welfare user, or an anti american socialist, vote for these idiots.

Kudos to BG for shining light on this dirtbag! Financial crimes while running a "non-profit" that is merely an arm of the Democratic Party, and campaign finance scams that enrich his consulting business…all in the name of the left wing agend and his wife's climb to power in the Pelosi caucus. Whether it's Rahm, Axelrod, Rogers, Ayers, Rezko, Blagojevich, etc. etc., this Chicago crowd is nothing but self-important, self-enriching, self-agrandizing punks.
Some of us are more equal than others.
Agreed but, it is time to put both parties on notice.
At the first mention of private insurance companies going out of the business the audience cheered. Seems to me she was simply riding the wave.
What's ironic, and insulting, is while these politicians are busy labeling the health insurance industry as greedy profiteers, it is they who encourage it by exempting the health insurers from the antitrust laws. This means the health insurers are permitted to collude to fix pricing so that they ALL are able to maintain their profit margins.
Meanwhile it is the democrats who use threats against that very exemption as stick to beat the insurers over the head with.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/18/us/politics/18a...
What do you want to bet it was the democrats who exempted them and now lord that exemption over their heads as a means to manipulate the industry?

There are so many thing corrupt and criminal about this administration, that there doesn't seem to be a bottom line anywhere!! A bottomless pit of pure adulterated corruption!! They have thrown the Constitution out in favor of their socialists communists agenda…God help us!!
appears to me that she has a bad taste in ones character…..she can't even pick a mate that stays out of jail….she seems to have an intense need to hang with the bad boy mindset…perhaps that explains why she thinks she is a "tough broad"….
sorry ma'am….but you simply ain't that bad!!!!!!!!!…..unless you can prove you know how to manage a budget without aiding and abeting check kitting…hmmmmmmmm….
You know the line from these hypocrites….do as I say, not as I do!
I wonder what Creamer and his wife really want out of all this? Front row seats at the Stoning of the Profiteers Festival? Or maybe just statues in Times Square?

have fun
both hypocrite AND communist to boot…
she plays the role of the lefty but is a hard core communist. Chicagoans ahve known of the shrewish Schakowsky for some time, and her Felon husband- which was really handled like eggs by the local press- are the worst of the worse. Thievery in the name of The Cause justifies (end justifying the means) their actions, they are amoral and shameless.
It is wonderful that the light of day shines now on these people as they scurry for the dark corners…
How about that, a Representative that is advocating the destruction of private companies, adding to the unemployment, and most likely adding to the number of people who would require federal assistance. But wait, she will invest in their companies until they go bankrupt. Using her political position she will probably dump those funds the minute the health care bill passes. Let's all hope it doesn't…and she is voted out of office…on a rail.
That is one scary woman. The other two scaries are Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer. I feel sorry for anyone who have to work for them – shudder.
If this fidelcare passes it'll be challenged constitutionally – wish our guys would harp on that a bit more. Right now they're playing games which pisses me off as it's very expensive game-playing. Dirtyharry 's being the martyr for Obama – he's such an old fool.
Certainly Unconstitutional.
Jan, did you think far enough ahead to maybe consider you were going to be putting yourself out of business when people caught on?
No? Didnt think so.
I am beginning to wonder if Obama knows ANYONE who is not a radical weirdo, a Communist, Marxist, Mao-Loving Dingbat or an ex-convict or an avowed Commie who is also a race-baiting cop-killer loving Truther idiot. Oh, I forgot, Van Jones was transferred over to John Podesta's place but Obama still gets Jones's input on important "green" issues. OUT IN 2012!!

Is child labor wrong?
Or is placing American values on other cultures wrong ?
Shouldn't child labor be an issue between a child and their family.
Another LEFT WING LOON from ILLINOIS! Lincoln must be tuning over in his grave. Obama, durbin, blago, ross, burris, and now this loon! The people of Illinois need to put LOONS like this out of business. Maybe someone should ask here about her TAX CHEATING, EMBEZZLER, EX-CON husband. PEOPLE OF ILLINOIS WAKE UP BEFORE YOUR STATE BECOMES THE NEXT CALIFORNIA! From the "land of Lincoln" to the land of pelosis, boxers, feinsteins, shermans, waxmans, waters, and so on and so on! In 2010 and 2012, VOTE for HONEST, INTELLIGENT, FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE conservatives. You just might just see what hope and change really looks like!
Attention 9th congressional district voters, you will have an opportunity to give Jan the boot in November. Time to clean house for the betterment of Chicago and Illinois. She will be 66 years old in a few months and can draw Social Security, so will OK. Time for career politicians to retire or go into the private sector.
Can't we put in a reset button for clowns like Rep. Jan Schakowsky!
They keep this crap up and that reset button may be a trigger. We can only tolerate so much.
The ninth congressional district in Illinois encompasses a portion of the North side along with some north and northwest suburbs. These areas are not hotbeds of communism or anticapitalist thought… My business is located in this district. I find it extremely unlikely that the majority of her constituents support her so-called "beliefs" and platform. Like any successful Illinois politician, she is a member of the political "combine", (Dems and Repubs in IL working together for the common good… Theirs…props to John Kass). The combine’s sole purpose, besides enriching their friends, families and associates, is to get re-elected. These individuals have veritable armies to "get out the vote” through precinct captains, ward organizations and other members of the Dem machine. Ultimately, though, if she did not bring home the bacon, she would not get re-elected. The Illinois political system is simply the Federal system 10 years in the future. The only problem is that the Illinois system, for years, has been subsidized by the federal government. Who is going to subsidize the Feds?
to be a scum-sucking criminal is suggested for involvement in illinois politics…and is required at the national level.
Borderline? they're way past that line.
[...] BigGovernment.com has done more digging on White House Dinner party attendees Rep. Schakowsky and her husband Robert Creamer. If you’ve been watching Glenn Beck you know that this couple who attended the November 24 White House State dinner party have a far more interesting storyline than that of the Salahis. And it is getting even more interesting…. [...]
They want a place at the Government trough. What they don't realise, is that once you've got your snout in, your bacon belongs to the farmer.
Mr. Pollack,
I applaud you for taking on Schakowsky and will follow this race closely. While there is much to despise about Schakowsky (her radical, pro union ideology is very apparent in the video clip), attacking her for owning mutual funds is not an effective tactic. Does she not have the right to own mutual funds regardless of her ideology? I might choose to buy stock in GE if I think they stand to benefit from “green jobs” even though I am 100% against the Crap & Tax bill.
Let’s fight her on her socialist agenda, not that she owns mutual funds that invest in almost every type of company imaginable.
Exactly my point – if you think child labor is acceptable (hey, we became a leader in the industrialized nations because of it!) then know this before you spend your money. It's the "wah, wah, i gave these people my money and they're evil" crap that I hear all the time.
Ok gotcha. I'm with you then. I think we can do more harm sometimes, in the name of doing good.
Matter of fact probably most times.
Their arrogance will incite revolution!!!!!!!!!!
If we had a real Attorney General, I'd suggest looking into the handling of the Creamer prosecution; the judge who should have but didn't recuse himself should be looked at for potential corruption charges and prosecution himself. Things haven't changed here, even after Robert Cooley's book about our judicial system, "When Corruption Was King." Those who should be "doing something" about it merely exhale another "Ho hum" and then crack down hard on jay-walkers and tea party attendees.
Had to deal with Ms. Schakowsky for my employer for a issue involving one of the towns in her district. Ignorance and arrogance all wrapped up in a single package. She didn't know the laws involved and she was obviously very anti-business, even through my employer and (several other companies involved) had been trying to solve the problem for 10+ years and the locals could never get a consensus among themselves was the biggest problem. After the meeting I kept wondering how someone like her could keep being re-elected until I learned more about her & her district. She just another Illinois hack politician put in off by the Chicago Democratic Machine. I never realized who her husband was until now. Makes sense she was a supporter of Obama back when he was a State Senator. Kinda makes you wonder how long the "fix" has been in for this whole group.
[...] A lot more about this… [...]
Im wondering-Id like to take every one of these leftwing scum and give them the SHARIA LAW treatment they all seem to admire. Tell me, someone, when are the voters going to wake up and get rid of this kind of trash? It seems to be virtually everywhere. This braods crimes make William "the refrigerator" Jefferson seem like a traffice ticket compared to an armed robbery.
Demorats dont go into the "private sector". They go to work for "non profits(ACORN,anyone?) or for one of the sleazy unions, or become "professors" at one of our colleges of commie indoctrination. The only place id like to retire this whore is to the gulag. Shes earned it.
Sadly it is so easy to do a little looking online and find the info to do right with our dollars, and so very few bother.
Remember rckmom… God helps those who help themselves… 2010 and 2012….

Gentleman,
It appears as though, Carol Marin has made a decision that she no longer wants any information about Dr. Ronald Michael and his pals.
This does not bode well for the state of journalism in Chicago. As many of us know, Dr. Michael is a close friend of Tony Rezko. One of my sources informed me that Dr. Michael’s family met Tony in Lebanon, before he came to the U.S. to live with the Michael family. This story gets better everyday, so you can imagine my dismay that a veteran like Carol Marin would want to be excluded.
Anyone else want out of their responsibility as a journalist?

You forgot to mention Bobby Rush, Michael and Lisa Madigan and the biggest sleaze of them all, der mayor Daley. The voters in the Chicago area arent exactly the best and the brightest. After all, they named Bill Ayers "man of the year " in 1997 and have welcomed Jeremiah the fat commie pig Wright in there community for over 20 years.Last I looked the Trinity UCC was still well attended and was still ran by a radical hate whitey, hate America bigot named Otis Moss.
Wow! What a shocker since Chicago is the most corrupt city with the most corrupt and highest taxed Cook County within the most corrupt state Illinois where there is bipartisan corruption and 5 of last 6 governors have been… bah ferget about it!
ANd peeps lets not forget the former speak from Illinois Denny Haskert as we now know why all his and dems pork pushed through as he retired he get federally funded highway to be built real close to a bunch of land he owns. HMMMMMMMMMM! Yep, Illinois, bipartisan corruption beyond belief.
Oh yeah while maybe not a corrupt pol Illinois has Republican Mark Kirk otherwise known as Mr cap-n-trader voting against his own state's interest since Illinois big coal producing state. Thanks Mark you da man! I'd for for a dem before him because at least with a dem you know what you're getting.

Anyone experience anything about the easy google profit kit? I discovered a lot of advertisements around it. I also found a site that is supposedly a review of the program, but the whole thing seems kind of sketchy to me. However, the cost is low so I’m going to go ahead and try it out, unless any of you have experience with this system first hand?
