ACORN has quite a number of people working for it that seem to have very little moral sense. However, taping outrageous statements is not the same as uncovering criminal acts. Giles and O'Keefe have not produced evidence that ACORN has played a role in funding prostitution or has had any involvement in trafficking. That would require true investigative ability. For all its explosiveness, this really smacks of an undergrad stunt and I just can't work up too much outrage over it.

This is one of those rare times in my life that I find myself struggling for words. I'm an old fart who spent 25 of my working years in Auto Dealerships (20 in management). I thought I'd seen it all – until now! I worked with many awesome people over those years. Unfortunately, I also worked with many 'not so awesome' people. And O'Keefe's headline deceitfully doesn't properly explain the "Program For Torture Victims" which was where the ACORN employee was trying to take Giles because she claimed she was a victim of abuse from her pimp. A little honesty here for a change (rare but not impossible). And as heard on the tape, the "Program For Torture Victims" was NOT affiliated with ACORN.

Obviously Lavelle has no moral compass. From the small amount that I saw (the 4 minute tape) she was not having any difficulty with what she was being told. In fact she talked about doing research for them. That does not sound like someone who had red flags raised at all.
It seems that the lack of moral compass in her response to the "pimp and prostitute" has led to further lies as a cover-up once Lavelle realized that she too was in the firing line.
Only one man has come out "shining". I can understand his comments about prostitution in general because that is a disease that has been allowed to fester everywhere and it is the oldest profession in the world, but what is outstanding is his refusal to go further once he hears about under-age girls. The point I believe of the videos is to expose the culture of the organization as corrupt, not necessarily to develop proof of criminal wrongdoing. Allegations of voter fraud, embezzelment, intimidation, financial fraud, political corruption, tax evasion and non-profit fraud and abuse are legend with ACORN. Because they're so politically well connected, no one will will investigate the accusations. The only way to address the rampant allegations against ACORN is to make them politically radioactive to any politician and motivate the public to demand action. That's what these videos are doing.
Journalists aren't supposed to be cops. They're supposed to expose behavior that indicates wrongdoing. They're supposed to ask the hard questions and point the justice system in the right direction. James and Hannah are doing their job, the problem is, the system isn't doing its job.

Actually, we have a second amendment to maintain a well regulated militia to presreve the security of the state, but that's besides the point. The point is this: we currently have groups of people funded by taxpayer dollars and working at the very least under the tacit approval of elected officials to illegally influence the outcome of elections.
Next, we have an administration that shows no desire to prosecute those that clearly and willfully commit these illegal acts. Thus, the goverment tacitly condones the illegal influence of elections. If the vote is illegally influenced, then it doesn't matter what the voters say, does it?
Given these ongoing problems, it is not a far leap to fear an attempt to suppress the vote entirely or otherwise disenfrachise the people. I hope it never comes to that, but with what I've seen in the last year — things I never thought I'd see in America in my lifetime — I'm less than sanguine. And in that nightmare scenario about the only thing that could save the Republic is an armed citizenry.

I respectfully disagree. As a student of history, I know that violent revolutions never result in the ideals of the revolutionaries becoming reality—with the important, singular exception of the American Revolution. I do not believe that today we have the genius or the context for that to happen again.
Watching the Green Revolution protests in Iran made me appreciate the 2nd amendment in a new way, for sure. I am grateful that we cannot be bullied by the state like they can. However we are not there yet. A good book that I read that really cooled my head and that I highly recommend is Jonah Goldberg's Liberal Fascism. Reading that makes you realize that as scary as the current socialist-trending government is, we have been through much worse. We slid into a fascist nightmare under Wilson, but we pulled ourselves out again. We had an ugly Mussolini-like president with FDR, but we later got a Reagan, and we did not need to do anything violent or unlawful to get it.
When I read opposition blogs, I notice how many people will take comments about guns and paint us as gun-nuts who are itching to turn to the 2nd amendment as a way out of their problems. My relationship to the 2nd amendment and to firearms in general is a lot more sophisticated and mature than that, and I hope it is with you too.

NEW ORLEANS – A conservative filmmaker who posed as a pimp to target the liberal activist group ACORN was arrested with the son of a federal prosecutor and two other men and accused of plotting to tamper with the New Orleans offices of Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La.
Activist James O'Keefe, 25, recorded two of the other suspects with his cell phone as they walked into the office dressed like telephone repairmen and said they needed to fix problems with the phone system, according to an FBI affidavit.
In the affidavit, Special Agent Steven Rayes said O’Keefe was helping Joseph Basel and Robert Flanagan, who were attempting to interfere with the office’s telephone system.
