20 Days of Left-Wing Thuggery in Wisconsin: When Will Obama, Democrats, and MSM Call for Civility?
by John NolteBelow, you’ll find a compilation of 20 days worth of the death threats, vandalism, and intimidation practiced by pro-union thugs opposed to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s budget repair bill. Wisconsin is my home state. I lived there until I was 27 years-old in 1993 and most of my family, including my parents still live there. For that reason and because the issue of education and teachers unions has been a passion of mine for going on two decades, I’ve been following this story very, very closely. My original intent was to compile all of this earlier in the week, but after reading Lee Stranahan’s superb editorial I decided to wait and see if that might have some effect on the national and local Wisconsin media in moving them towards giving the ongoing violence, intimidation, vandalism, and overall thuggery occurring at the hands of union activists and their supporters, the coverage it needs and deserves.

Not only should the local and national media be amplifying their coverage of this ongoing scandal because of the bar they themselves set with the Tea Party for what rises to the level of of racism, “predominantly white” protesters and troubling behavior — but in the wake of the tragic shootings in Tuscon you would think direct threats on elected officials would rate a little outrage. Well, obviously not when those threats come from the Left.
Politics aside, what’s happening in Wisconsin is downright frightening because, as you’ll see below, these incidents are growing in number and intensity. Furthermore, other than the Right, no one is calling for calm or civility. The local media is, at best, wrist-flicking these incidents, Democratic legislators have not called for calm, President Obama is AWOL, and worst of all, Public Union employees not involved in the thuggish behavior taking place in their name, have been complicit with their silence.
This is more than a disgrace, it’s dangerous. Conservative radio talk show hosts and Governor Walker can talk all they want, but I fear that until the media starts a campaign of shame by focusing on these incidents, and responsible pro-union types begin to police their own side, someone is eventually going to get hurt.
What you’re going to read below is a startling compilation of what can only be described as thuggery. These examples are occurrences that have taken place only since the beginning of the month and do not include the equally disturbing incidents we’re hearing about outside of Wisconsin. Keep in mind, it’s more likely than not that I missed a few things.

March 17th, 2011: Threats against WI blogger and Madison Law Professor Ann Althouse:

March 17th, 2011: WI Republican Senator’s property vandalized:
The office of Sen. Dan Kapanke (R-La Crosse) said the senator has been subjected to damage of personal property and has received threatening statements in the wake of mass protests in recent weeks over Gov. Scott Walker’s budget-repair bill.
Kapanke have been unavailable, but an aide to Kapanke says that windows on Kapanke’s car were broken in Madison and the senator’s wife found nails strewn on the driveway of their home.
According to Rose Smyrski of Kapanke’s staff:
Nails were scattered on his driveway twice last week. The incidents were reported to the La Crosse Police Department.
Also, Kapanke’s’s windshield was damaged on March 9 after the Senate voted on the budget-repair bill.
March 15th: 2011: M&I Bank, a business targeted by anti-Walker union thugs, vandalized:
March 15th, 2011: Walker protester shouts, “Hang then all!”

March 14th, 2011: WI Republican Senators receive death threats, don’t feel safe in public:
State Sens. Pam Galloway, Glenn Grothman and Joe Leibham were among more than a dozen Republicans sent e-mails with messages such as “Death threat!!!! Bomb!!!!”
A note shoved under Grothman’s door said, “The only good Republican is a dead Republican.” He has stories of getting obscene phone calls in the middle of the night.
Two Republicans, state Sen. Randy Hopper and state Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt, feel so threatened that they backed out of marching in Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the city of Fond du Lac.
March 14th, 2011: Thugs harass Repub State Senator at her WI home:
March 14th, 2011: Police, Fire, and Teachers Unions threaten WI businesses with boycotts if they don’t oppose Governor Walker (it should be mentioned that police and firemen we’re not part of the budget repair that put an end to collective bargaining):
In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining, please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the goods and services provided by your company. However, if you join us, we will do everything in our power to publicly celebrate your partnership in the fight to preserve the right of public employees to be heard at the bargaining table.
This creepy website appears to have the list of WI businesses targeted by those whose salaries are paid by the taxpayers for boycotts — and those taxpayers will be the first to lose their jobs if the boycotts have any effect. There’s also a Facebook page for the boycott.
March 14th, 2011: Wisconsin Tea Party leader receives death threat:
Wisconsin Tea Party Patriots State Coordinator Michael Hintze told police when he answered a call on his cell phone about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, a male voice “asked if he was wearing a bullet-proof vest” and then hung up.
March 13th, 2011: Pro-Union Protesters climb WI Capitol walls, harass officials:

That’s no surprise to most people who have watched this conflict from the start, but like any coup its ultimate outcome will depend on the public. If most citizens of Wisconsin are now convinced that Walker and his cohorts are extremists willing to go to any lengths for their big-business patrons (including the billionaire Koch brothers), those citizens will recall enough Republican senators to right this wrong.
March 9th, 2011: Death threat emailed to all WI State Senators
Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your familes will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks. Please explain to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit that you have created. March 4th, 2011: Live ammunition found at WI Capitol:
Earlier Thursday, police reported finding dozens of rounds of live ammunition outside the Capitol.
Dane County deputies found 11 rounds near the State Street entrance Thursday morning, UW-Madison Police Chief Susan Riseling said. Twenty-nine rounds were found near the King Street entrance, and one round was found near the North Hamilton Street entrance, Riseling said.

You cannot expect integrity from people who believe in Kantian ethics. Its real simple. Progressives believe they intend to do good so therefore any action they commit is excused. Only the intention is considered. Progressives have no concept of deontological ethics nor could ever live in such a world. They cannot judge their actions by the action itself.
And since they believe ONLY they can have good intentions then only THEY can judge others.
Next time you hear a progressive talk about intentions ask them this: "Prove your intentions". It is impossible to prove intentions, that is why Kantian ethics fails.

I think the full text of the demands written to Althouse was the one that creeped me out the most. It physically affected me. It really did. So much hate. So much venom. The totalitarian nature of it honestly unnerved me.
They wont, they will never take responsibility or condemn this because… they approve of it.
Oh yes they do, or it would have been condemned when it happened. Oh sure they will run their mouths that ppl shouldnt use this rhetoric etc but you must understand that is nothing but a "do as I say not as I do " message. Eventually one will speak out and say its not acceptable but what isnt acceptable is the time btwn when this all happened and when they condemn it. Wisconsin is seriously in the thrall of a lawless movement. From reading the local commentary online I have to conclude that, while many speak from a position of sympathy with the unions, there is a definite undercurrent of fear. I do not get the sense that the majority supports the union thuggery but I do believe that enough people take the threat of violence seriously to allow those making threats free rein.
It's the death of the "me generation" attitude. I'm sure we won't see it disappear quietly. It's so engrained, not only in our society, but in the European society that the progressives envy so much. But I think the gig is up- I think we'll be (WE ARE) witnessing a complete turn around in serveral of their countrys before it fully catches on here. I'm confident that before Baracky finishes his term as POTUS- he'll be despised there just as much as he is here. It could very well be that he's keeping the gates of progressive hell forced open on their wish to change….

Gov Walker was able to pass a law that took away a good chunk of their bargaining powers. That law worked! I like Gov Walker's use of laws to dismantle the socialist Dem Unions. It's called modifying behavior through the reality of a law that stops the imbalance of power and money.

I sympathize with the Republicans who are taking such heat over their courageous actions. But I was dismayed to read that death threats scared two Republican state senators into skipping a parade. Just try to imagine a union or Democratic Party leader skipping an event because of right-wing death threats. I'm sorry to say this, but it's a fact of life that every school kid knows: Until our side stands up to bullying and intimidation, we will never win.

I don't know about a parade, but I do know that the democrats will high tail it to a different state if they think they can't win a vote. I have all the confidence in the world that 75 percent of this adversity would have been averted had the Democratic leadership would have stayed and lead. I betchya a lot of those protesters were the way they were because they didn't feel they had a voice- and they elected represenatives are supposed to be that voice.

If ANY conservative, independent or tea party member did any of the things these low life animals are getting away with they would be arrested & rotting in jail. I can remember the cops in Dallas telling the handful of PEACEFUL counter protesters at an illegal aliens rally to go home because they were not going to protect them & the ones in Seattle pulling a man out of his car & smashing his face into the ground for flipping off a group of illegals that were basically rioting in the streets. Cops, judges, the attorney general & our politicians ignore some laws & pick & choose when to enforce others. It is VERY frustrating!
This is all playing out just as we might have expected. The spoiled children did not get their way, so they puff up and threaten. This is, in a way, a good thing, as the 'progressives' show their true faces — sputtering, raw and ugly — to the American people. As they continue to do so, more people will see what they have been supporting, with the civil make-up stripped away and the nasty, selfish, mean face showing through.
