Barack Obama Ignores D-Day Anniversary – Goes to Theatre Party

It’s too bad Barack Obama missed the anniversary today.
The White House website has nothing posted today on the 66th Anniversary of the D-Day landing.
The president had other things on his mind.
He was attending his second party this week, tonight at the Ford Theatre.
According to the Ford’s Theatre website, the event tonight is described as follows:
Ford’s Theatre Society will host its annual gala on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Ford’s Theatre (511 10th Street NW). The evening’s performance, titled “America Celebrates July 4th at Ford’s Theatre,” will be taped for broadcast on the ABC Television Network to air July 2, 2010 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET). Modern Family cast member Ty Burrell hosts a star-studded program with appearances by Kelly Clarkson, Renee Fleming, George Lopez, Lionel Richie, Robin Roberts, Dick Van Dyke, Laura Michelle Kelly and Gavin Lee from the Broadway Company of “Mary Poppins,” the Soldiers’ Chorus of the United States Army Field Band, and cast members from the Ford’s Theatre production of “Little Shop of Horrors.”
The President will also be honoring far left Bush-basher and Jew-hater Archbishop Desmond Tutu at the gala.
Everyone must have their priorities.

I agree, but the problem is the Modern Liberals/Progressives/Marxists actually think they are helping – so they will not go away.
We (Conservatives) think that once we use reason to drive towards the truth that the Liberals will somehow see the light and follow along. They never do. No matter how hard we try and no matter hoe perfect our logic is, they will never get it.
They can't get it. They can't get it because their entire belief system is abnormal. Normal people measure success as when things are better or can get better over time. Modern Liberals measure success as when things are "equal."
It's a huge difference. They have to tear down what does work and elevate what does not work so as to force things to be "equal."
This is why they hate Western Civilization, the American Way, etc. Heck, the American Dream is a hate crime to them.
I could go on for an hour here, but the key point is to understand that they think they are helping. In their minds, when everything is "equal", all of our societal problems will go away because we'll have nothing to fight or argue about. It's Utopian and it can never work.
What I have learned is just about everything they come up with is wrong. And even when they are on the right side of an issue, it's usually a tactic and for the wrong reasons.
Once people realize what makes them tick (this imperative to force things to be "equal"), it gets a lot easier to stand up to them with confidence.
Not the wrong side, the Soviet Union were part of the Allies, the wrong side of the Cold War in his view.

My criticism of Obama was in regards to this year, not 2009. World War II is one of the most significant events in our nation's history and the President should be paying respect to the brave soldiers who gave their lives in this opening struggle as well as those who survived it to this day. Should Obama have been there? Maybe. But why is it that Arlington is the only place a president can go to pay respect to those truly brave soldiers? He did go to a ceremony to pay his respects in Illinois.

Okay, I will go ahead and put this in simple terms because you do not seem to understand. This site has its reader base, which is understandably conservative (being aligned with the thoughts of it's posts). This means you're all allowed to wallow in your shared views and not worry about reprimand. This is also why we see such exaggerated hate posted on this website (ie. the first 1-4 pages of these comments). It is because you are all alike and do not need to fear people coming into your site who do not share your views. This phenomenon has a psychological definition even: Groupthink ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupthink ). If ever there was a good example of it, this is it.
Moving on from that, we then had people like me who came from digg.com (a very popular news aggregator with a large viewership). This story became popular on digg.com a few days ago, and is why you see the new accounts and the less conservative comments most recently. Though, unlike me, many of those people made their point and left. I decided to stay and see how it went.
I find it interesting that upon posting my initial comments, they were voted up by the less radical digg.com viewers, and have now been buried as diggers left and I am left with radical conservatives such as yourself. This trend continues whether it is deserved or not.
Take for example FactsHurt's comment above. It was presented with clear sources and a clear argument of facts against Mr. Hoft's opinionated and incorrect statements. But what do you know, after being upvoted initially, it is now downvoted because you people do not like to be proven wrong. The facts can stare you in the face and you will ignore them.
Aside from that, none of you seem to realize (or, I suppose, feel like admitting) that when compared to Obama, Bush's time in office was a trainwreck. But you never saw Liberals complaining about the man himself. They might have disliked his stances and actions, but they would never attack him for missing a D-Day celebration (which has been shown to have happened).
You know what that shows me? It shows me that you all know your arguments against Obama are pure shit so you feel you need to resort to such ludicrous slander in order to feel that you have "won" at the end of the day. Well yes, you've won. As I said before. You've won in convincing everyone but yourselves (and that is a dangerous thing when you're such a minority) that you're a bunch of biased, racist, extremist, antiquated people. We all know this.

I visited digg.com yesterday, and you're right, it does seem to be politically neutral, but I noticed one thing that you seem to have missed; there were more comments that I would have to say were center right, than there were those center left. However, the left comments did have more 'thumbs up', but that is meaningless. It might just mean that those on the right are secure in their beliefs and don't need to 'vote' in order to make themselves feel good. Many here do care about the whole 'rep points' thing, but I personally, and many others here, don't put much stock into it. Moving on……………
Fox News ? I rarely watch any of their news programs. I watch some of their opinion shows (actually, one show ,Glenn Beck, and on rare occasion, O'Reilly), and Red Eye. I get my news from the internet (AP, Reuters, etc.) and from the local, left leaning news paper. I do something that most left-wingers, the young ones anyway (and most lefties are young), don't yet know how to do properly; I think for myself. Common sense, logic, and EXPERIENCE, all combine to let me figure out what is REALLY happening. Most of history is subjective, you know. The 'what' is known, but, the 'how', and especially the 'why' is often someones opinion. Moving on…………….
Here's an example of 'logic'. There have been articles about Alan West on this site, and the people here think very highly of the man. Many of the regular visitors to this site have commented that they would vote for him for President, or any public office for which he would run. He is black. Yet, you progressives insist the folks on the right are racist. Illogical. It is the left that is hiding behind Obama's skin color; anyone disagreeing with Obama is labeled a racist. Not only is that illogical, it is outright dishonest. Obama's progressive policies are bad for America and they destroy the human spirit. That's why I have a beef with the man, not the color of his skin.
