Court Date Set For the Kenneth Gladney Beatdown Case
by Jim HoftKenneth Gladney was beaten, kicked and called racist names by Russ Carnahan’s SEIU supporters after a health care town hall meeting in August.
The national media and NAACP ignored the hate crime.
Gladney was beaten by several SEIU thugs after the meeting let out. He was working outside the town hall event selling flags and buttons when he was attacked.
Although he was too weak to speak after his public beating, Kenneth Gladney attended the protest against SEIU violence following his beatdown in St. Louis.
St. Louis County officials waited until November 25 to press charges. SEIU members Elston McCowan, 47, of St. Louis, and Perry Molens, 50, of De Soto, each were charged with assaulting a person and interfering with police. They are accused of scuffling with and injuring Kenneth Gladney, a vendor at the Carnahan health care town hall. The country pressed charges on 6 individuals.
Today, Kenneth called to tell me that they set a date for his court case.
The prosecuting attorney Victor Melenbrink notified him that his court time is 7 AM CST- April 23rd. Paul J. D’Agrosa will be representing the SEIU defendents in the case. Elston McGowan is still receiving workman’s comp(?) after being injured during his attack on Gladney. He is about twice the size of Gladney.

I am so glad Mr. Hoft stays on this story – but I have two questions –
I believe I read an article posted by Big Government that his brother had lost his job following this attack for no reason. Is he filing a wrongful discharge lawsuit?
Do we know whether the District Attorney in St. Louis is a Democrat or Republican? That may determine just how hard Mr. Melenbrink prosecutes the case.

I'm curious about how Mr. McCowan could receive workers compensation unless his employer was PAYING him to be there at the time of the altercation. I agree with envguy… if that is indeed the case… Gladney should sue McCowan's employer as well as the SEIU.

I don't believe the BIG sites were in full swing during that story, Essentially the media ignoring stories like that is the very reason sites like this are growing in popularity… (you know like the one you just posted on). There are countless stories of people being attacked all over the world. Gangs, thugs, drunks, racial fights, turf wars, and indiscriminate acts of violence. I'm sure they all warrant media coverage, and all of them are concerning. This story just happened to be associated with thug tactics that some SEIU members use when they are faced with opposition, and the slap on the wrist that punishment that was initially handed out.
I believe the shout-out to "hit back" came down from the top- Andy Stern himself- just shortly before this beat-down occurred. The culpability seems to run very high up the food chain at the SEIU.

Good point. No one gets workman's comp unless he is on the job. Either the employer is responsible for the beating, or the workman's comp claim should have been denied, payments refunded, and penalties for a false claim.

I don't really think it's relevant "how badly" he was beaten – he was assaulted, period. There should be consequences.
It does seem suspicious to see him in a wheelchair after he sprang from the ground and spoke to people around him during the event. Then again, adrenaline can do amazing things, and I don't think a conclusion can be drawn from the video as to the extent he was harmed.

What are the chances of a fair trial for Gladney? Less than the chances of the judge and jury being SEIU members, I know that much.
