Ken Pittman: Right, if you are a Catholic, and believe what the Pope teaches that any form of birth control is a sin. ah you don’t want to do that.
Martha Coakley: No we have a seperation of church and state Ken, lets be clear.
Ken Pittman: In the emergency room you still have your religious freedom.
Martha Coakley: (……uh, eh…um..) The law says that people are allowed to have that. You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.

Abortions don't happen in the ER as they aren't medical emergencies. They are planned elective procedures. Only an idiot doesn't understand that.
As an ER nurse, a Catholic, and a conservative working in a Catholic hospital, one among so many that have a history of charitable service to their communities, I resent that Obamacare will force Catholic hospitals to close. There will be will be punative consequences for any religious ethics that deviate from the state and the feminist lobby. It's the state that will not respect religious convictions.
It's also a falsehood that the Catholic church at this time in history obstructs the use of birth control.
Government mandates that essentially exclude persons of particular religious beliefs from joining certain professions? It sounds like something the First Amendment was written to prevent.

I often wondered how Taxachussets continues to elect their representatives. A state that is predominately Catholic, but rarely votes the Catholic moral line, voted for a pro-abortion senator for nearly 40 years and also votes for a philandering homosexual. I don't know what you would expect from a senatorial candidate that exposes that Catholics should not work in a ER. It fits in my book.

I worked as the Emergency Registration Supervisor at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, GA for three years. Abortions are done in the Emergency Clinic, the procedure is called a DNC.

My personal opinion about abortion is that it needs to remain safe and legal. I don't know of any hospital that routinely does abortion, Catholic or otherwise. Most are performed in specialized clinics.
Don't conflate abortion with birth control. What we are really talking about is Catholics refusing to prescribe birth control to women. It is unacceptable.

A DNC is not a method of normal abortion. A DNC is usually done due to many factors including excessive bleeding which can indicate miscarriage. If a DNC is done in an emergency room it's done for the fear of health of the woman having the DNC. It is not a method that a woman can come in and just terminate her pregnancy on a whim.

I'm sorry, but actually a person does have a right to work in any field they choose, what doesn't exist is the ability for the government to forbid someone to work in a field of their choice. I would think that there are not only a reasonable number of hospitals where someone could seek medical care that caters to their needs (aka, birth control, abortion, etc..) but that even in a Catholic hospital there would be doctors and nurses that do not have that moral proclivity. Constitutional freedoms are there to protect the individual not force one individual to bend to the will of the government. I would add that I'm not Catholic and have no personal problem with birth control, but in using your own words…"the fact that you don't like it" doesn't mean you have a right to refuse someone the ability to live according to their conscience.

Coakly is living in her own world, first this is NO seperation of church and state – that is an ACLU made up myth based on some speeches by Thomas Jefferson, speeches are all well and good, but only the Constitution is what is the law of this land and in the Constitution is only states that the government will not favor any one religion over another, the government will not create its own religion… this was put in by our founders…. many of which came from England who still clearly recall Henry the 8th's Reformation period in England and recall how he formed the Church of England and suppressed the Catholic church. So our founders put those words into our Constitution to make sure that the same thing would never happen here in America… however now the liberals are trying to create the Chruch of no Religion and are trying to strip religion out of country as a whole, which is impossible since our very laws are based directly from the 10 commandments, and our founders looked to have religion as a cornerstone for their faith and direction in the creation of this nation, so church is very much an integral part of the United States and its government.

A DNC is a fairly common procedure performed for the health of the woman. It is not done in a hospital to terminate pregnacies.

Brown is not a vote for freedom, but a vote of cyclical partisan politics. Anyone who votes for cap and trade laws (as Brown did) needs to be weeded out of politics, not blindly accepted as change. Wake up conservatives or forever hold your peace.
