In Ohio, Perry Finds Room to Romney’s Right
by Jason HartSomehow the Mitt Romney campaign thought it’d be awesome to stop at a Cincinnati call center for Ohio Issues 2 & 3, and then not endorse a Yes vote on both issues. Since Yes is the obvious conservative choice on two of the most important ballot issues in state history, this created an opportunity for other GOP primary candidates.
In short order, Rick Perry pounced into the new space on Romney’s right:
“As a true conservative, I stand with Gov. Kasich in promoting S.B.5 for fiscal responsibility and job creation in Ohio,” Perry said in a statement to CNN. “Gov. Kasich and the Republican leadership of Ohio are to be commended for their efforts.”
With D.C. union bosses spending millions to smear Senate Bill 5 as unfair, dangerous, and racist, Issue 2 is hardly a sure thing. It’s disappointing that instead of backing reforms which will empower Ohio taxpayers, Mitt Romney handed unions a rhetorical win by dodging a volatile issue that’s behind in the polls.
Here are some key elements of the bill Rick Perry endorsed:
- Issue 2 ends automatic step increases and requires merit pay for public workers.
- Issue 2 requires all government employees to pay 10% of their pension costs and 15% of their health insurance costs.
- Issue 2 ends forced payment of “fair-share” fees for government workers who don’t want to join a union.
- Issue 2 puts a stop to last-in, first-out firing policies, requiring considerations other than tenure when making layoffs.
- Issue 2 does not affect bargaining over wages or working conditions
Issue 3 will shield Ohio citizens from Obamacare’s individual mandate – another weak point for Romney with GOP primary voters.
Will other Republican candidates stand with Ohioans, or will they soft-pedal support for reform precisely when it’s needed most?

There is so much room to Romneys right, that you could drive a herd of elephants through the gap.
Did I bookmark the wrong site?
I thought it was Big Government, but these last two items would lead me to believe it is Perry 2012.
Watch Mitt start freaking out over the fact that the real Mitt is being revealed over the internet. I won't be surprised if he favors Net Netuality over this.
And that's the problem with Romney. He's a moderate.
If Mitt Romney wins the nomination we will all know the fix is in.
Romney is his own worst enemy. He'll cut his throat soon.
There is so much room to Romneys right that Perry would be badly misjudged if thought to not be there already.
The crucial candidate question is: "which one will bring us closer to limited government?"
The interesting issue 2 question is: "if issue 2 passes in Ohio, how many government employees who are currently union will gladly give it up because they are no longer mandated to pay "fair share" union dues?"
Consider that if your paycheck is being raided for union dues even if you don't join, you might as well ante up the extra couple of bucks per month and be allowed to vote, just in case you can at least mitigate some of the radical union behaviors…..
I've been screaming that from the roof tops for months.
Sent another letter to the editor about it and got a response that it may get printed.
No. He's a RINO! Establishment all the way.
Of course Romney NOW says he supports this attempt to provide relief to the taxpayers of OH. I guess he took some heat.
Romney is establishment all the way. yuck
Although Romney performed the best in the debates so far that's not really saying much because just about any of the candidates would beat the socialist shyt out of obama. I hope Romney is not the nominee; the guy is too much of a squish. We need an unabashed Conservative not democrat lite.
Screw that. Curtailing runaway Government Workers Unions is one of the biggest state level issues in the high-tax high-unemployment ex-manufacturing states, and Mitt Romney looks at polls in Ohio and is a political weasel for not backing up the conservative position. This guy wants to be President so badly that he will sell out anyone or anythinbg to do it.
This issue typifies what conservatives don't like about Romney, and it's just damning evidence of what kind of President he will be.
ROMNEY IS A FLIP-FLOPPING COWARD. The AFL-CIO is using taxpayer dollars to back the Marxists at Occupy Wall Street in their efforts to stir up revolution against the USA. But, Romney couldn't find his way to stand up for reforms to help reign them in – cowardice.
No, you got the right site. Romney is just a flip-flopping coward whose policies match Obama's on global warming and healthcare (Big Government).
If global warming alarmism and state run healthcare are moderate, then he's moderate. Otherwise, he's a Massachusetts liberal (would be John F. Kerrey's first term).
We can only hope.
In Ohio, Perry Finds Room to Romney’s Right
yes moderates out there. Hear this, note this. Perry is to the right of Romney. Romney is more moderate and centrist than Perry.
And here at Right Wing Breitbart, that's a bad thing for Romney.
Romney is such a huge RINO that he would be protected as an endangered species in Africa. This man is not for us. He will NOT lead us out of this national crisis. He is in it for the glory and power. I swear, I would vote for Gingrich over Romney and that is a sad statement to make.

The is a lot of out-of-state money pouring into Ohio, from various national labor groups, to condemn Issue 2. The spin is almost universally "pro-firefighter," because we've done very well with showing the people how corrupt and acquisitive teachers' unions have become, so the anti-2 people are making it all about firefighters, and to a lesser degree, police.
I examined one of the signs, and it stated in mouse type that it was financed by some national firefighter union, headquartered out-of-state.

Why I will not vote for Romney…
America…you have heard about the six degrees of separation…well here is a great one on Mitt Romney and his associations with the CFR, Bilderberg and Trilateral members!
And one wonders where ‘he’ is getting ‘his’ money from?
http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/...
And his foreign policy advisors…are we getting more of the same ol’…same ol’?
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/envoy/mitt-romney-ann...
And how many of these ‘advisors’ are on the membership list of the CFR?

BB – I stand corrected.
R.E. – Ditto's to you too!
You got me wrong. Mitt's not my man. I just thought getting OD'd on Perry all of a sudden was strange.
He is in it because he thinks it is his turn–he is just McCain lite, and all the same old Rinos are going to back him.
Take your Bilderberger nonsense and shove it! Governor Perry was invited, as MOST Governor's are, to attend a meeting a few years ago that was held in Turkey. He is NOT a "Bilderberger." I'll bet you also think the Twin Towers were taken down by George Bush and Dick Cheney, don't you?
What is the average IQ of a Conspiracy Theororist? pfft!
Rick Perry for President! A REAL Leader with a REAL record of achievement and a REAL Commander in Chief
for our men and women in uniform! Go Rick!
Mr. 26% Romney has flip-flopped on every important conservative issue known to man. He can't even get his numbers above 26% even though he has been campaigning for 5 years. The poor man has no core values and will spin on a dime if he thinks it will win him a few votes. No wonder no one trusts him.
Rick Perry/Paul Ryan – 2012 OR
Rick Perry/ Marco Rubio – 2012
Romney = doom for the GOP: [LINK]
McCain? Now Romney? Isn't there a CONSERVATIVE with SUBSTANTIAL EXPERIENCE out there? Wake up GOP! Or, we will have a repeat of 2008. I don't want to hold my nose while I cast my ballot this time!
So the president or presidential candidates should try and sway voters on a state issue now? And you think Romney's the one for bigger government. This is hypocrisy at it's best. Oh well hopefully all you conservatives who hate the MSM but have bought their lies about Romney (they are the ones who have been calling him a flip flopper when he has only ever flipped on an issue and never flopped, they are the ones who have been calling him a RINO BECAUSE he governed from the right and they know if elected he will CONTINUE to govern from the right.) Will finally realize Perry is the candidate they have been selling since he first thought of announcing. It is sad to se Big Govenrment getting on someone for standing by their states rights principles and praising a candidate for getting involved in a state h has no business getting involved in. Ignore that fact though put down the best qualified candidate both as being to Big Govenrment and now not being Big Government enough.
see record here http://www.issues2000.org/Mitt_Romney.htm
No he's in it because he recognizes the nation is in dire state and wants to reform it. As for being a Rino his record says otherwise.
http://www.issues2000.org/Mitt_Romney.htm
Sorry but that site isn't from the Soros run media so it actually shows his voting record rather than skewing the way the Bigs have been doing which is sad as these are the types of lies they are supposed to expose, not promote.
Name one issue he has flopped on. He has flipped on many issues and did so long before he had plans to run for President now and in 2008. In fact he plipped onb those issues when it was politically inexpedient for him to do so in a state that sounded the death knells of his career as governor because of his flipping on these issues. They also hated the fact that it went beyond words to using his veto power to the same effect any conservative would.
Edit
Here's his record
http://www.issues2000.org/Mitt_Romney.htm
He isn't squishy here is his record
http://www.issues2000.org/Mitt_Romney.htm
Yeah yuck to those presidential candidates leaving states issues to the state and not getting involved when running for a federal office. How shameful for him to set an example of how the fed should react to states issues by choosing not to get involved. This is just terrible that a candidate for federal office would follow the tenth amendment by not commenting or trying to use political clout to get involved on a states issue. (Sic)
Seriously what is going on at the Bigs when a guy makes a small gov move and gets blasted over it. IF he had endorsed it you'd be complaining (rightfully so) that he had no place getting involved in a states issues and warning how this would set a precedent for how he would act as president. Instead you lambast him for doing the right thing for a presidential candidate or even president to do.
their records disagree
http://www.issues2000.org/default.htm
You can read and compare both of their records.
If by "the fix" you mean he'll fix the government to a much greater degree than any of the other candidates and govern just as conservatively as any of the other candidates, well then you're right.
Check out all the candidates records http://www.issues2000.org/default.htm
No he's a conservative who has been smeared as a RINO by the MSM, and now the conservative media with the MSM (you'd think they'd not join with their enemies but they do against Romney).
Here's his record http://www.issues2000.org/Mitt_Romney.htm
The site also has the rest of the candidates records as well. It shows who puts their vote where their mouth is.
Yep you and the rest of the MSM have been screaming it from the rooftops the difference being they started doing it in MA when he first veered from the center to the Right and stayed there much to their chagrin.
here's his record http://www.issues2000.org/Mitt_Romney.htm
compare it to the rest http://www.issues2000.org/
IMHO Mitt Romney is another wolf in sheep's clothing, how can I say that?,OH,maybe it has something to do with his track record, you can't hide from your past, unless of course your Barack Obama!
Look at his record actsnow he isn't a wolf that shows how he actually voted vs what he said and from a conservative stand point its a very strong conservative record. He got elected as a moderate like Obama, the difference is he moved far right almost immediately and Obama stayed far left where anyone who would have cared to view his record rather than listen to his speeches new he lay. Mitt isn't a RINO he isn't the perfect candidate either as that doesn't exist. He is however a true conservative like the rest of the field with the exception of Perry (who this article praises) and Huntsman (who everyone saw through from the get go). I come here to stand up for Mitt both because I support him as a candidate and because all this talk from conservatives about Mitt is without them realizing it the line the MSM started, and has continued to tow since Romney first bolted right as governor in a liberal state. Liberals do not forgive they try to destroy or discredit. Romney who has lived his personal life beyond impeachment must then be discredited as a conservative in the liberal mind because that's the only way to keep him from getting elected.
Thank you for not attacking me for my support by the way and thank you for keeping the conversation positive. I get lambasted often for my support of Romney and it's a breath of fresh air for someone to simply share their view without trying to attack me for mine for a change. You should go read his record at that link it shows better than i ever could that he isn't the wolf he's been portrayed to be.
The only Governor's invited…are those they are interested in using as pawns/puppets and they are always weak and flawed candidates to be there pawns…that is what keeps them in line!
He is their anointed candidate for 2012…as Obama the Bush was in 2008…guaranteed!
Look around you…Bubba…at the world…and all the governments…and see how they are also being destroyed from within…you think that is just by accident? You think there is not a plan afoot to usher in the New World Order…by first destroying what is in place?
Get that empty head out of the sand…and wake up before it is too late!
NO TO PITIFUL PERRY THE BILDERBERG PUPPET…EVER!
PITIFUL PERRY WILL ONLY BRING YOU MORE OF THE SAME…AND WORSE…BECAUSE THE NEXT PUPPET WILL PUT THE FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN OF OUR REPUBLIC!
HE IS NOT A LEADER…HE IS A PUPPET…WITHOUT A CLEAR THOUGHT OF HIS OWN…JUST LIKE THE ONE WE HAVE NOW…GUARANTEED!
Here is the rub,I know people who cannot afford the mandated health care Romney started, they are being fined and can't afford to pay the fine,so you go tell the guy who is self employed who makes just enough money to stay afloat that Mitt is a conservative and in favor of small government,a conservative in Mass. is by far not considered a conservative in Texas,so I guess it all depends on where your from and how you were raised.
I don't support Romneycare and I do wish he would stop defending it as it is the only blight on his actual voting/veto record. I am staunchly conservative raised in Nevada before all the Californians moved here to mess our state up. I was very conservative up until I was probably 23 when I moved even further right as became more informed on the founders and their vision of what the purpose of Government is.
are you a Mormon?
Yes though that is not why I support Romney. I have fought hard even before i could vote to replace Harry Reid, I have never supported Orrin Hatch and Huntsman is my last choice out of all the GOP field. I support Romney based on his record which is just as conservative as any of the other candidates and even more so than Perry and Huntsman. If Ron Paul wasn't naive on the Muslim threat I would be voting for him. If Gingrich didn't have his baggage I would also vote for him above Romney. The religion of a candidate means very little to me when they have a record I can look at to see how they really vote on the issues. If atheist is a moral person who supports the stance I take on social issues, I'll vote for them a above a Christian who ignores the scriptures on such issues for the sake of a vote.
Before you accuse Romney of being the latter keep in mind he changed his positions on those issues when he had no aspirations to running for president and when it was very politically inexpedient for him to do so and he hasn't buckled since changing his stances on those issues.
There are (2) in the race…Rep Bachmann…and Rick Santorum…take another look…because the bootlickers AND the conservative aren't giving it to you!
Although Romney performed the best in the debates so far that's not really saying much because just about any of the candidates would beat the socialist shyt out of obama.
