Another Survey Shows Obama’s Deteriorating Jewish Support (and Not Just Because Of Israel)

Another opinion poll was released reporting s a deterioration of Barack Obama’s support in the Jewish Community. What makes this set of results surprising is the poll was conducted by the American Jewish Committee, a group who’s leanings are so liberal, it chastises more conservative Jewish organizations that criticize Obama’s Israel policy. Another surprise in the survey (at lease for those unfamiliar with Jewish voters) is that Israel is just one of the issues driving Jews away from Obama.
For the first time since his inauguration, the annual AJC poll shows more Jews disapproving of Obama’s performance than approving. Approval of Obama’s performance declined to 45 percent, and disapproval rose to 48 percent. Last year’s AJC survey reported 51 percent approved, and 44 percent disapproved.
Key areas of Jewish voter disapproval are the economy (duh), and immigration. Foreign policy is a wash and most Jews approve of the President’s performance with National Security and Energy.
As expected, the President’s Israel Policy meets with disapproval.
Note: the only people who believe that Jews approve of his policy are members of the Democratic caucuses in either house of Congress, people who work for the DNC, or Obama reelection campaign or members of the National Jewish Democratic Council. Of course the NJDC wouldn’t criticize Obama even if he woke up one day and (God forbid) decided to bomb Tel Aviv.
It would be hard for those folks to deny the objection to Obama and Israel now as the results aren’t even close.

Interestingly the Israeli Prime Minster Netanyahu, not a favorite amongst the liberal Jewish Community in the US has a better approval story than Obama.

The poll also asks how they would vote in an Obama election against:
- Romney (Obama 50%, Romney 32%, Neither 16%)
- Perry (Obama 55%, Perry 25%, Neither 18%)
- Bachmann (Obama 59%, Bachmann 19%, Neither 21%)
A few things to point out, Obama beats each of the above, but in each case his percent of the vote is lower than his 2008 total. Based on the poll Obama’s 2012 performance with Jews depends on who the Republicans put up. It is very early, and actual Jewish support for each of these GOP candidates could be much higher or much lower because Jewish Democrats are not familiar with the GOP candidates (except for what the mainstream media slanders about them).
In the end this study doesn’t show that Obama will lose the Jewish vote in 2012, nor should it. I would be very surprised if Obama lost the Jewish vote in 2012. What it does show is the GOP has an opportunity to steal enough Jewish votes to make a difference in some key states. The large “none of the above” numbers reflect the possibility that Jewish voters may become so frustrated with the choice of candidates that a big segment of them may stay home. This hurts the Democrats. Based on historic trends 70-80% of those Jews who stay home will be votes lost to the Democratic candidate.
And most important IMHO, is that it kills the argument of many unfamiliar with Jewish voters. Israel is not the only issue that shapes their election picks.

Dear President Obama,
Reading your speech today was to read the words that I always knew you believed, but could never voice prior to the election of 2008; as with most of your long held beliefs, if you were honest with the American people then they would not elect you to collect stray dogs. I had to watch as people who share my faith vote for you in droves. It reminded me of something that I can’t mention now for danger of being labeled as something I am not. Suffice it to say it never ceases to amaze me how otherwise intelligent people can be converted into automatons during vote harvesting time. But that’s how we ended up with a contest between you and Senator McCain. I cannot believe that all the J Streets in the world can provide you the cover needed to generate the same support this time around, then again if you are advocating for this now, you must be in far worse political trouble than even I can imagine, I wonder if an LBJ day is not in your future? “I will not accept nor seek the nomination of my party for the . . .” Maybe you should practice so you don’t need the teleprompter.
The present borders of Israel are the result of successfully fending off attacks that neighboring countries saw fit to perpetrate on the newly formed nation of Israel. Which was formed as a reaction to the greatest mechanized effort to end Judaism from the continent of Europe by Hitler, and his murderous following. Israel has to maintain it’s current borders to keep future attacks from, on the one hand, occurring, and on the other hand, from being fought on the same land it lives on. All the while keeping its’ population safe from everything from rifle fire as well a missiles, and suicide bombers. In order to meet this objective it could not alter its current borders. Especially in the light of recent events of Egypt falling to what will eventually become another country guided by radical islam, armed now with our tanks and planes. The notion that such a nation founded out of the ashes of evil from histories worst crime should in any way be made to sacrifice anything is near criminal, and borders on the insane.
In reading your speech you give yourself every opportunity to be right in the eyes of historians. Too much in fact. One wonders what you really care about: what people think about you, or the notion of not being blamed for a world worse off for your stewardship of it? Why do you believe that muslims will, can, or even want to be reformed from without when in their most hardened political States believe in using nuclear weapons in a first strike capacity, if only they could figure out how. They are a patient foe, and you think the technological advances of the day will some how woo them from their destiny with murder? I don’t think so. I know we are real good at what we do, but evil has the advantage here. It takes me a second to realize this when looking at our modern, and dare I say it, socially liberal society; and theirs based on the bondage of woman and the commitment to be governed by a system of law best suited to the dust bin of history. Am I being too judgmental for you? My apologies. But you can bet that islam is in no mood to be reformed from without. Not by a long shot. Like an angry drunk in a bar all it wants is to do is stay put on it’s perch, unreformed and unrepentant, for what it has done in the name of Allah.
World War One was known as the “war to end all wars.” It was fought with armaments that were the chemical descendants of Alfred Nobel’s work in explosives. Essentially a pacifist who hated war gave war it’s greatest weapon. Of which you are, uncharacteristically, the winner of his prize. As time has worn on we have new and more deadly ways to fight wars. You and I will likely live to see that horrible day. Because man has not proven himself able to resist that temptation to harm another for sport or gain. Whether you are an unarmed housekeeper in the sights of a violent socialist full of himself, or a defenseless child from a pedophile, or a nation that chooses not work, but war, to further it’s national goals. History is littered with this reality. A future generation will wonder why we tried to do what we have done only to provoke what we most want to avoid.
Funny how that happens. Funny, I’m not laughing, though in 18 months you won’t be either.

The disapproval of Obama's economic policy doesn't mean what you think it means. Jews have always favored expansions of the welfare state and higher taxes particularly on the rich so disapproval may only mean that Obama has disappointed Jews by not moving faster in these directions than he has.
When you see polls that say Americans (or any sub group of Americans) believe that the country is "going in the wrong direction" it doesn't mean that Americans all believe that we need lower taxes and more economic freedom. I really wish that pollsters would ask more specific questions like "Should the welfare state be downsized?", "Should business subsidies be reduced or eliminated?". Then we could find out in what direction people really want to move – more government or less?
I'm afraid that people like me who actually support limited government and the free market would be disappointed to find out just how few people agree that the "right direction" is towards greater freedom.
Looking at which candidates do best among Jews I would point out that Bachmann is seen as the most Christian and Romney as the least Christian candidate of the Republicans. Also, Romney is the biggest welfare statist of the Republicans and Bachmann is seen as the least. Either of these two factors would explain the polling results among Jews very well.

Obama's support is deteriorating from all groups including his key support groups.
This is good news TEMPORARILY because the minute Obamugabe is out of the office they'll still support Nazi Pelosi, Scary Reid and all of the other members of the left wing SS who are perhaps more dangerous than the Annointed Teleprompter.
Helpful information, but incomplete. It would be great to know HOW this bloc favored/disfavored Obama in previous times (say a poll in 2009, 2010, and now).. I'm sure the data is there; we just need a journalist who can get the facts together to present a full picture of the situation.

My late grandfather was the editor of Dallas Morning News. He would laugh at this sort of tripe that's propagated as news. One of our last conversations before his death was a sad lament of how NOBODY is willing to be a journalist and actually tell the story.. Everybody is too eager to trot their line out and push an agenda.
Folks, if Obama sucks, it's gonna come out on its own. You don't have to push it. REALLY.. You don't. The majority of people know he's a buffoon. But you're just weakening your point by creating one-sided statements and expecting everybody to accept it as unbiased.

As I tell my daughters there is only one poll that counts. It occurs the 1st Tuesday in November for Republicans and 2nd Tuesday in November for Democrats. See me 3 November and tell me how the Jewish vote went until then Blah, Blah and Blah.

Maybe you'll find this an obvious point, but if only 50% of Jews say they will vote for Obama versus Romney, that means that 50% would be voting against him. Staying home and not voting for Obama is just as good for the GOP as voting for the other candidate.
What Obama desperately needs is a super-high voter base turnout. That was the way he got elected in the first place; without his base turning out in record numbers, he has to absolutely swamp the Republicans in the "independent" vote, which just won't happen.
This is a bellwether poll, and it bodes ill for Obama. Now if we could only get a true conservative who debates better than Perry into the race, or if only we could get some serious traction for Herman Cain . . .

Because they are Americans and even if there were only two of them they would still be Americans entitled to representation and to have their interests considered.
I would care if they got out of the East Coast city/slums to take a poll. Matter of fact I am sick of hearing Juan Williams pontificate about Republicans or Tea Party and what we think. He is clueless. We need to donate to a small fund for a coach ticket to fly over country for a few days. CNN takes polls on the street in front of their office building in downtown Atlanta. What do you expect from their polls?

Don't know when your grandfather passed away but the Dallas Morning New is from front to back page a Democrat liberal rag now. Even the movie reviews are biased. While it is impossible to leave out our own personal bias, journalism used to be a profession of unbiased research. No more. We thank the mainstream newspapers who have the time to do investigative research for the abomination that is Obama. That is not one sided, that is a fact.

You make some good points, especially about the beast coast liberal Republicans, but (from my admittedly limited experience) I'm thinking that of the beast coasters who vote as Republicans, very few of them are "liberal" Republicans. The liberal Republicans are more of the affluent, establishment type. They have a profound effect on who wins primaries because of their money and organizational ties, but they are a tiny fraction of the voting bloc.
No one was more despised by liberal Republicans than Ronald Reagan, yet he proved that a true conservative can turn out the vote amongst all types of Republicans – and some Democrats – in droves. I don't discount their importance in primary battles, but after that, the liberal Republicans have no power at all.
Yes, of course this is a blog.. But it's morphing perceptions of media in a method that will make New Media into THE NEWS sourcing.. This is going to happen in the next 12-24 months, as "MSM" continues to make itself more irrelevant.
My point is that if Andrew & Co intend to be perceived as relevant and professional, they need to lay off the half-assed one-sided portrayals, and present the facts.

People on both sides of the aisle are sick of partisan-based "journalism". Give me the facts without your spin. If Obama is a jackass, it'll be clear when I read the truth.. But if I have to filter thru your bias to FIND the truth, I'm less likely to A. believe what you say and B. to come to the conclusion you hoped for.
Facts are pesky little critters.. We on the right tend to have a monopoly on them when it comes to the political arena. But we had BETTER NOT become so entrenched in our own perceptions of how people view us that we skew all our communication into talking points. It weakens us; it does NOT help us.

Last election cycle our lawns and yeards were littered every other day with a daily edit/opinion from the Dallas Morning Brief…. All of it was Pro-Dems Obama fluff-N-Stuff and anything Repub. McCain/Palin tear down drag out diatribe. It couldn't have been more of a DNC rag sheet if it tried. We all got together as our HOA and requested that they only deliver their paper to those that had a current subscription. That pretty much put a halt to their scam.
I agree facts should be given…. on both sides. I don't see any evidence of a newspaper now days that has any desire to print the truth about anything. Sorry about your grandfather it sounds like you had a lot of respect for him.

Seriously, there are some things that just boggle the mind. Many black leaders sing the praises of Fidel Castro, who's perhaps the worst racist in the Western Hemisphere since Bull Connor. Try to find any blacks among Castro's elite. Farrakhan thinks Castro's a genius yet if Farrakhan had been born in Cuba he would be somebody's butler or chef assuming that he would be allowed to get that close to white people.
I've seen photos of people wearing Che Guevara T-shirts in gay pride parades. Che Guevara used to have gays executed.
Whatever the pull of socialism is, it bypasses the rational faculties.

The real mystery is why Obama had jewish support in the first place. Jews, according to myth – is it myth? – are especially adept at seeing schmoosing for what it is: sales pitch for something they wouldnt buy, or put their money where their mouths are even if offered with fantastic bonuses to cajole.
The second mystery is why they stayed with Obama for so long when it was clear that he was a destroyer, of those things for which they presumable immigrated to America. And that America has been UNTIL Obama the best, most supportive ally of Israel's right to exist. At great cost to non-jewish and even Christian Americans. AND, even if somewhat late, gave sanctuary to the jews able to escape Nazi AND Communist pogroms to get to America. All very odd. Even is some ways bizarre.
Once Obama's pogroms begin, where can any American, jewish and non-jewish, flee for safety and freedom, the entire western world now in the throes of the same political agenda espoused by Obama and his statist totalitarian socalled democratic party allies.
