AFL-CIO Joins Marxist/Progressive Get Out the Vote Alliance

No longer is their primary objective to protect the rights of their own rank and file, their objectives has moved into politics and selling the progressive and/or Marxist agenda. Hence their support of many of the Administrations policies such as Obamacare, the auto bailout and the financial regulation bill in some cases (such as Obamcare) over the objections of their membership.
Fresh from their recent wins, the unions are moving into building the base of Marxist, Communist and progressive voters, as evidenced by the AFL/CIO joining a get out the vote effort run by United for Peace and Justice, an origination established to promote an agenda which is both socialist and anti-war.
The announcement the AFL-CIO move was made in People’s World a magazine for the Marxist and Communist movements in the United Sates:
The AFL-CIO executive committee voted unanimously this morning to join One Nation, Working Together, a new national coalition of labor and civil rights groups that has as its purpose to “reorder America’s priorities by investing in the nation’s most valuable resource – its people.”
The labor, civil rights, environmental, faith and other organizations that have formed the new coalition intend to replace unemployment and economic crisis faced by the country’s majority with “nothing less than a future of shared prosperity for all our people,” the AFL-CIO said in a statement after it voted to join One Nation.
“None of us alone have been able to achieve our priorities,” said Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO.
One Nation’s first official act as a coalition will be a march on Washington on Oct. 2, which unions say will energize an army of tens of thousands who will return to their neighborhoods, churches, schools and voting booths to prevent a Republican takeover of Congress in November and begin building a new permanent coalition to fight for a progressive agenda.
The AFL-CIO joins groups such as The NAACP, SEIU 1199, Green for All, National Council of La Raza, US Student Association, and the Center for Community Change in the One Nation, Working Together effort.
The One Nation, Working Together get out the vote movement is led by United for Peace and Justice
You can tell the objectives of an organization by its friends, according to United For Peace and Justice they seek friends who are for “social justice,” “globalization”, and who are against multi-national American corporations.
UFPJ will seek to strengthen our alliances and working relationships with other forces in the antiwar movement, as well as the movements for global economic, environmental and social justice. Our international work will be based on respect for the sovereignty of other nations and a commitment to human rights and international law. We will support and seek cooperation with our sister organizations around the world, and we will act in solidarity with progressive groups and individuals within the United States and the nations occupied by U.S. forces.
The AFL-CIO’s new partners in this get out the socialist vote effort, the UFPJ’s Steering Committee come from Marxist, progressive, or communist groups including Code Pink, Institute of Policy Studies, Western States Legal Foundation, Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice, Communist Party USA, Alliance for Community Trainers, American Friends Service Committee, Brooklyn For Peace, National Immigration Solidarity Network, Desis Rising Up and Moving, and US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation just to name a few. At least two of the groups, Solidarity and US Campaign to End The Israeli Occupation, also have a history of Antisemitic activity.
These are the people and organizations that the AFL-CIO has linked up with.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Marxists, progressives, or even Communists leading a protest to motivate their supporters to come out and vote for their favored candidates. What is wrong is when union leaders to support these groups without the full knowledge and understanding of their membership. When they join up with UFPJ, by association the AFL-CIO is endorsing the agendas of Marxist, Communist, and progressive groups, whose objectives are social justice,” world-wide redistribution of income (taking money out of their pockets and giving it to workers of less-developed nations) and who are against the multi-national American corporations who sign their paychecks.
I would suspect that the AFL-CIO’s new bedfellows are not being shared with their rank and file, who still believe their leadership is working on solving the problems unique to their unions rather than promote themselves as power brokers for the radical left.

Once upon a time unions were necessary to protect the individual worker against unjust treatment at the hands of management. Over time the leadership has scrapped these ideals in favor of a more marxist approach of threat, intimidation, and brute force. Their leadership has been invaded and succumbed to the terrifying cancer of progressivism where the elitists live like kings and the workers are under the hive mentality of only existing to preserve the continuation of the hive regardless of cost.
Currently, unions like the seiu collect dues not to help their members in times of economic difficulty, but use these funds to elect officials to stump their agendas, and they expect their depleated pension funds to be refilled by the taxpayer.
The average member has little or no input and is treated worse than a worker bee or ant when it comes to decision making time. It appears that in this day and age public and private sector unions are archaic and detrimental to the welfare of the country. What is surprising is that many members are, or appear to be, unaware of the shenanigans pulled by their bosses; and for the few cognisant of such actions, helpless to respond.
When will the membership wake up and clean out the corruption and garbage?

That's not a bad idea. I would say that if there were enough members of a Tea Party union that are able, they should commit to being "union busters," breaking the picket lines of any union that uses a strike to shut down business for illegitimate reasons.

October 2nd,,,,it should be interesting to see how much of a crowd they can gather. Contrast that with the crowd in DC this weekend for Beck's event. The crowd in October may include every rent-a-mob of homeless and unemployed, paid to join the march and not paid at union rates, probably not even minimum wage rates.
The only good thing to come from this is that their agenda will soon be apparent to even the most kool-ade addicted to see.
Obama may see himself having to call on the military to help barricade him in the White House before this is over. But it will come as surprise to him that our military will not protect his useless a$$ considering what he is doing to their morale, as evidenced by his policies and recent unprecedented statements by his generals.

Most of the politics in my town is all democratic……….Cleveland, Ohio……………my husband has everything we need to protect ourselves, but I'm afraid it will keep a lot of good people from going to the polls in November—they're scared! The only power the Marxist-progressives have is in deception. Unions and community organizers have finally come out of the woodwork in the hopes to gain power. However, the problem is that in order to grab tangible and lasting power, they have to show their hand. By showing their hand, they lose support and power. It's a catch-22. Their only hopes rest in the dictator-esque governance of President Obama. However, one election will fix him. The American system of governance cannot be subverted for long before the aggressors meet their political doom.

I think the rules should be changed to keep unionizing at a local level only. Instead of the UAW, each plant should have or nt have its own self-contained union organization. There are enough federal rules put in place that small groups like these would have legal recourse to redress true grievances without being able to completely rule how business gets done around their contracts.

They may be loud; they may have money. But, never forget, unions represent only about 12% of the American workforce. Self-identifying liberals represent only about 20% of Americans in polls. Neither of these outweigh the 60% that leans towards conservative ideals. The question becomes how persuasive a bunch of rent-a-thug marchers are. Armed insurgents provide quite enough for our fighting men and women overseas to worry about but this fall's jam-packed election calendar is also ambushing them.
Ten states, Washington, D.C., and the Virgin Islands are all seeking waivers exempting them from complying with the new law — the Move Act — that requires all states to mail absentee ballots to overseas military voters 45 days before Election Day.
"The waiver process is kind of recognition, probably, that 2010 was going to be a transition year, that some states would have to do things like move their electoral calendar, which is not easy," said Chip Levengood of the Overseas Vote Foundation.
In Delaware, for example, primary day, Sept. 14, 47 days before Election Day, leaving not enough time for officials in Washington to certify a winner, print ballots and ship them to Mazar-I-Sharif fast enough to comply with the new law.
"It's been very clear that some of these states were not going to be in compliance with the Move Act a long time ago," said Eric Eversole, executive director of the Military Voter Protection Project. "And the Department of Justice, each step of the way, has simply not taken the actions to ensure that the Move Act would be implemented in each of the 50 states."
Right now, it seems they're incapable of doing much more than firebombing each other's offices and pretending we did it. So I'm hopeful.

A school chum, who was mortified because her father worked for the AFofL, confided that "all of the communists are CIO, it's not the same thing."

Knowing many Union members (in various unions) I beleive a poll taken by members of those unions would show that the majority of union members are not in agreement with the thugs in charge of these unions.

AFL-CIO is funded by Soros who also funds SEIU, Center for American Progress, Green for All, TIDES, Emerald Cities, MediaMatters, Huffington Post, Acorn, etc. They are all the same organization.
George Meany, the noted former head of the AFL-CIO must be turning over in his grave. Meany was a strong labor guy ,yes, but he was ALSO very much an anti-communist, who purged communist party members out of the AFL-CIO in the early 60s and helped encourage the formation of the Solodarity Labor union in Poland in the early 70s. I cant see the likes of COMMUNIST pigs like John Sweeney or Richard Trumka doing the same.
Honest-I happen to beleive there will be no lack of will amongst us. Id say about 1/3 to 1/2 of the population would engage in either active opposition or at least uncooperative resistance.

Many in the rank and file disagree with the Unions political activism that has nothing to do with the labor issues facing the workers. The Unions are rabid progressive agenda supporters, and conservatives that need or are forced into the union for protection from workplace abuses have no voice in this, but their dues are being used to fund this activism. Perhaps we need to place limits on what a labor union is able to do or start getting rid of closed shop, mandatory union membership to have a job.

PLEASE HELP!!!! I am a firefighter in Oklahoma and my local union is affiliated with AFL-CIO. Can anyone please tell me if I can get out of the afl-cio and still remain in my local firefighters union. I have asked my local officials and they do not have an answer and tell me nobody has ever asked to get out of the afl-cio before. I would greatly appreciate any help. thanks
