Ohioans Want Economic Recovery, Not the President’s Job-Killing Agenda
by Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)President Obama is coming to Youngstown today to tout his administration’s recovery efforts, but its policies are only making matters worse in the Mahoning Valley.
While it’s encouraging that the factory in Youngstown that the president will visit on Tuesday has recently expanded, the city’s painfully high 15.1 percent unemployment rate is a harsh reminder that the “stimulus” has not created jobs “immediately,” or held our national unemployment rate (9.9 percent) below eight percent as the president promised.
Worse yet, the policies of the Obama Administration could quickly put jobs at the factory, which manufactures steel pipes for oil and gas drilling, on the chopping block as it continues to push a “cap-and-trade” national energy tax that will raise energy prices, drive thousands of American jobs overseas to countries with less-stringent environmental regulations, and devastate our domestic oil and gas industries.
Last December the administration unilaterally acted to pave the way for this bureaucratic nightmare, and it’s not looking back. In fact, last week the EPA finalized new rules for manufacturers and power plants scheduled to go into effect in January of next year, regulations that American Iron and Steel Institute President and CEO Thomas Gibson warns “will impose significant new costs on manufacturing industries at the worst possible time… [and] arbitrarily picks winners and losers.”
This disturbing trend of harmful government overreach is only increasing as the administration uses taxpayer bailouts and a bevy of new powers to aid special-interest allies and inject politics into every corner of America.
Just look at the government role in the unequal treatment of thousands of Ohio retirees of the now bankrupt auto parts manufacturer Delphi Corporation. More than 20,000 Delphi salaried retirees, many of whom live in the Youngstown and Dayton areas, face the loss of health care coverage and up to 70 percent of their monthly pension checks, while obligations to the former company’s union retirees are being covered in full by government-owned General Motors.
Americans across the country are watching this, and they’re saying ‘enough is enough.’
They’re tired of the payoffs, kickbacks and sweetheart deals for Washington’s special-interests.
They are scared as they watch government spend like there is no tomorrow, piling more and more debt on the backs of our children and grandchildren.
And they don’t want the president’s new health care law, which will punish small businesses and states with new mandates, cut Medicare benefits for seniors, and actually increase health care costs, according to a recent report from analysts at the administration’s Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Already, 20 states have filed suit in court to block the law’s costly mandates. On Friday, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), which represent the nation’s small businesses, announced it will join these efforts to overturn the president’s health care overhaul due to concern it will hurt our economy and prevent the creation of American jobs.
Republicans are listening to these concerns, and we’re offering better solutions to help middle-class families and small businesses tackle the challenges they are facing every day.
We want to repeal the president’s jobs-killing health care law, and replace it with real reform to lower costs. We want to put an end to taxpayer bailouts, and get the government out of the business of picking winners and losers in the private sector.
And we are offering an “all of the above” energy strategy to create jobs, lower energy costs, and establish a cleaner more reliable energy future, solutions to curb government spending, and a jobs plan to help small businesses create jobs.
President Obama has billed his ‘Main Street’ tour as a ‘listening tour.’ As Ohioans continue to ask “Where are the jobs?” it’s time for the president to scrap his job-killing agenda, and work with Republicans on these types of better solutions to help create new jobs and get our economy moving again.

In Oregon "public employees" can retire with as much as 105% of their last year's pay FOR LIFE, plus accrued vacation time, plus medical, plus life insurance and a "retirement residence relocation benefit"!?

His agenda is all part of his master plan to create a crises, he and Rahm can make certain not to go to waste and further break our system and replace it with his socialist/marxist vision.
His "listening tour" is a sales tour, just like every other public engagement he does. He hasn't stopped campaigning since he got elected.
Mr. Boehner, I doubt seriously that Obama will go along with anything a Republican majority House puts forward next year, so you're going to have some real work to do to keep momentum going so the right things happen in 2012.
You guys are going to have to speak up a lot louder than you have been, and stand up to the left regardless of the attacks. Stand up for conservative values and stop trying to appease the loud far left.

Use the real cost of oil in the calculation of oil prices, by adding in the military cost of protecting the worlds oil supply's. This cost addition would allow today's Reality tech solutions to be compared and analyzed on a level playing field that reflects the true cost of oil in all government and business comparative calculations of competitive pricing goals, targets, and ROI (Return on Investment, never a government priority, if considered at all) and reality. And Without the federal prop up of otherwise unsustainable business models, like corn based ethanol and Al Gore Auto, not to mention GM and Chrysler.
Cut, Federal, State, local taxes 100%, and Cut regulation expenses and fees by 100% on ALL AE infrastructure, new construction, labor and remodeling-retrofits. Zero taxes for the purchase and the sale of AE equipment . Zero taxes on the sale and purchase of AE power. Give our corporations and businesses the green ($$$) incentive to build TODAY using currently available Reality Technology's…LIKE microturbines and coal gassification, among many others.

I live in Boehners Ohio district, I have sent him the same post that I posted above, all I got back is a form letter thanking me for my interest. He is always saying "all of the above", what the hell does that mean John? Does it mean more government "investment" or does it mean creating an environment of zero taxes, zero government subsidies, zero "targeted" tax cuts and an actual plan to give our businesses the green $$$ incentives they need to adapt AE infrastructure.
Does it mean freeing AE energy suppliers from utility regulation and control? Does it mean getting rid of the .54 cents per gallon ethanol scam tax credit? Does it mean a LONG TERM ENERGY PLAN and LONG TERM TAX CUTS for AE energy? We need Jobs NOW John, we need national security now and we need to stop funding terrorism with our petro-dollars. We need to suppot our fledgling AE industry, by support I mean through purchasing equipment, not through subsidies and "targeted tax cuts for the selected and connected few. I wanted to vote libertarian but then I couldn't vote for judges and many other offices because the L party had no candidates running for those offices, a dim or him was the only choice. I have a sister who worked her entire life is now 64, paid her taxes, obeyed the laws of the land to where it was sickening to some. But that was her live and then she got ill, was in the hospital 8 mos, lost her job, her home, her IRA everything…Finally got her on disability which was fought for, and was denied MEDICAID to help her pay for Medicare and denied food stamps….she has $1000 a month to live on and has to pay for everything…..of course she is with me now but WHY is an AMERICAN CITIZEN denied help when she gave hers to her country by being that loyal American….WHY I don't understand this. It makes me angry because I see elligals getting everything and the people who are citizens just getting everything taken away form them. WHY! ! ! ! ! WHY?????

Tough question. Deserves a straight answer. AZ and TX can, (CA is a lost cause for now in time they will wake up), use an any means necessary approach to secure the border. That will stop all illegal immigration. Never seen a man who would walk on to a rifle range voluntarily. Deport all prisoners to "home" countries. This would free up the money to pay benefits that are owed and relieve the pressure on the system. Fix the "melting pot" – multiculturalism is an invitation to disaster – this would be done be eliminating the department of education, remember I'm pardoning all for federal laws – education is a state responsibility not a federal one – they continually are held hostage for federal dollars to do the bidding of the liberal agenda in DC – we stop this in its tracks the day I'm inaugurated. Since when is going from 9.7% to 9.9% unemployment gaining jobs. Last time I checked, the higher the unemployment number, the less jobs we have.
You want a solution. I got one. How about cut taxes on businesses, drop our current tax code and move to a flat tax, stop all the wasteful spending, actually use tax dollars to pay down debt not more useless programs, drop unions, drop useless outdated agencies. That would save far more than just a mere $250 billion, and take care of our $120 trillion in debt and unfunded liabilities.

We can build drill platforms and oil rigs and we get the natural gas and crude we have in and around our nation. As, it would save money, create jobs, pay down states debts, and we can get our economy back on the move. That is probably the best way to get us off of foreign oil.
If by tech, you mean solar and wind, we dont need that overpriced crap. They fail to work and always cost more than the power they produce. There was a report on here about it, and most of them are just a PR move and not a true energy alternative.
