Madame Speaker, Let Every Member Stand and Be Counted
by Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)We were elected to make tough choices, not run from them. On Thursday, House Democrats sparked widespread outrage by voting to authorize the use of the controversial “Slaughter Solution” to force amassive government takeover of health care through the House without voting on it. They voted to protect themselves instead of their constituents, who are fed up with the lack of accountability and transparency in Washington. But there is no hiding from this vote.
That’s one reason why I sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) requesting that she hold a special “call of the roll” for the final health care vote this weekend. Under this procedure, each lawmaker will be required to stand up and declare how he or she is voting on this bill. This weekend’s votes will be among the most consequential votes we will ever cast as Members of Congress. I believe the stakes are too high, and this bill too controversial, for anything less than complete transparency and accountability. It’s time to stand up and be counted. Democratic leaders keep telling their Members that once this bill passes, it will be more popular. They’re dead wrong. Seniors will be furious about the Medicare cuts. Small businesses will be furious about thejob-killing new taxes and mandates. Veterans will be furious that it doesn’t protect Tricare. And EVERYONE will be furious about the army of new IRS agents.
That’s why the only responsible course of action is to scrap this health care bill. Let’s start over with a clean sheet of paper.
Let’s work together on a step-by-step approach focused on lowering costs for families and small businesses. We know this vote is going to be tight. That’s why it’s important for the American people to stay engaged in this fight. Republicans can’t beat this bill, but the American people can. It’s not too late to make your voice heard.

Simple solutions that apply equally to everyone. There does need to be reform though unfortunately congress does not have the mental capacity to address it without screwing it up even more.
How about this as a solution: Take away their anti-trust exemption and make all insurance companies compete nationally. Let them offer boutique products that serve various markets, allowing consumers to insure against those potential maladies they are most likely to face.
I for one do not need insurance for pre-natal care, nor do I need insurance to pay for a possible abortion, or for that matter any disease which might be acquired while 'socializing' in a SanFranciso Hot Tub.
Let me insure myself against the catastrophic and I will 'pay as I go' for the routine.

Now they are going to pass this government takeover of health care without reading the bill or voting on it. Glenn Beck is right. Will the military obey orders to fire upon American citizens?
I truly fear for America if this passes. They own banks, car companies, and soon will own our health (assuming this passes); and if it does pass, they will own our children's education through college loans…WHEN WILL IT STOP?? They have a foothold; they won't let go. They count on that.
What's ironic is this: If they vote NO to the bill, re-election will be difficult because of cuts in $$ for their campaigns. BUT – If they vote FOR the bill, we will vote them out in NOV. Either way, these people will all lose their jobs! So why don't our "representatives" simply vote what their constituents want and not worry about it – do what the people want; not what the president and his liberal leaning henchmen want. Keep America strong and don't allow the libs to tear us down. Draw the line here; now.

Rep Boehner thank you for all you and the other GOP'ers are doing. We need a scorched-earth strategy tomorrow. Threaten to expose every Democrat misdeed, sweetheart deal, bribe, scandal, sexual affair, sexual harassment, use of prostitutes, drug abuse, etc. if the Dems pass this bill. Then, before the vote, go to the House floor and expose two Democrats just to prove it is not an empty threat. Watch how many of these scoundrels choose not to call his bluff. It will just take a handful to kill Obamacare and save the country. Remember how Rahm foley-iated us!

Our country and our freedoms have been "sold out " in favor of an ever expanding federal government that exerts exponentially greater strain on our personal liberties as Americans. Both parties are responsible. I believe that the time has come to decide which side you are on, and how far you are willing to go to stand up for what you believe.The Democrats have made it clear that nothing will stand in the way of Obama's agenda. Each of you took an oath to uphold the Constitution. What are you willing to sacrifice to honor that oath? If I were allowed in the chambers, I would not allow a vote to happen. I would use any and all peaceful means to disrupt proceedings. I would stand up and shout at the top of my lungs in defiance of this outrage, and I would ask all freedom loving members to join me. They would have to carry me out in chains. After all, if this becomes law, all Americans will be forced to wear the chains this administration wishes to impose, and to pass those chains to our children and grandchildren.

I have asked the same question, and I believe the way they confiscated guns after Katrina, and also the way police officers act first for each other, second for their employer (government) and thirdly to "serve and protect" that indeed they would.
It's similar to how many nazi's at the death camps said they were only doing as commanded. The persuasion of authority and group often has devastating consequences.

Rep. Boehner or any House member should explicitly INVOKE the U.S. Constitution, Article I, section 5, paragraph 3, by gathering 20% of member's signatures and provide them to the Speaker which states that: "the Yeas and Nays of the Members of either House on ANY QUESTION shall, at the Desire of one fifth of those Present, be entered on the Journal". At the same time, Boehner should make a PRIVILEGED MOTION TO DIVIDE THE QUESTION of the Slaughter rule into its FULLY-SEPARABLE, INDEPENDENT component parts of 1) the question of the Senate bill and 2) the question of the 'reconciliation' changes to the Senate bill. The Slaughter rule LUMPS 2 QUESTIONS into a SINGLE QUESTION FOR PURPOSES OF A VOTE and then ARBITRARILY DENIES HOUSE MEMBERS THE RIGHT TO DIVIDE THESE QUESTIONS FOR PURPOSES OF RENDERING SEPARATE VOTES.
As one Constitutional Attorney on Rush Limbaugh's program said, using this 20% rule will force any later court to rule the Obamacare Law VOID because it is unconstitutional. As this attorney pointed out, the general rule later that permits the House to set it's own rules DOES NOT trump this specific 20% rule because all specific rules are held higher than general rules. There are many other reasons this Law is unconstitutional, but it only takes ONE upheld by a Federal Court to throw the entire thing out. Every challenge is needed.
Also, Idaho has passed it's Law forbidding the Federal Government from mandating Obamacare, and it is being joined by some 37 other States whom are in various stages of passing their own versions of forbidding this mandate. The States have had enough. At least two State's Attorney Generals will file lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare if it is passed. Mark Levin's Levin Foundation will file a lawsuit. And I'd expect a plethora of others as well for various valid reasons.
Meanwhile, we are already getting a taste of their care by the cuts in Medicare and Medicaid causing nearly 200 Pharmacies in Washington State to cease taking new Medicaid patients because the Federal cuts have made the reimbursements below their operating costs.

I have discussed this question with several close friends in the military. True Americans will not fire upon fellow citizens if ordered to do so, but there is another problem. An ever increasing percentage of our military is made up of immigrants, including a frightening number of Muslim immigrants, who do not have the same values as those of us that have grown up loving America and who's grandfathers helped to build this country after WWII. They will fire on us without hesitation because they do not understand what it really means to be an American and they do not see us as brothers.
Congressman Boehner's request assumes this herd of Democrat lemmings knows how to stand on its hind legs.

The best I can say here is thank you John Boehner for standing up. And, thank you for boiling down the 1200 page Senate page bill to a few soundbites……that do not address all of my concerns with this bill. But, I must disagree on several points – FIRST and foremost, we are not a representative democracy, we are a representative republic. Second, this vote, for President Obama, IS all about his presidency. If this bill fails, he will be a lame duck until 2012, and if I, one lowly citizen knows that, then he must know that also. If Obama cannot get this passed then he will not affect any other "major" legislation during his current presidential term.
That being said, let us look at the downside of the healthcare legislation passing…..If this legislation passes and is signed into law, regardless of the state's rights lawsuits that will follow, Obama will have carte blanch to pass whatever he has up his sleeve. And, his sleeve is a big one – "Immigration Reform" is simply waiting in the wings. If healthcare passes, "comprehensive" immigration reform (ally ally umps in free) will pass without so much as a wimper. When that passes all those illegals will not only get free healthcare (which they are getting now), but they will have the right to vote. Care to wager how they will vote in the next election????
After "comprehensive" immigration reform comes one of two things – either Crap and Tax or Card Check. My bet is on Card Check since BIG UNION seems to have an unprecedented seat at the presidential table. If card check is passed then we are simply a spitball away from total communism.
My point here is that "healthcare" legislation, as currently proposed, is simply a giant foot in the door to a way a life that is distinctly not American. If we go down this road, it is a long, long haul back to where our Founders began this great country.

Not true, the birthers argument is weak and has little to no supporting evidence of significance.
Many challenges can be made to this bill based on due process, the bill/law itself. Even so, the courts will parse bits and pieces and leave the framework in place. The courts are a long shot at best.
The chance it gets revoked or rewritten in any meaningful way after 2010 is also a pipe dream.

I agree with your assessment about LEO's. The military would fracture the good news is our military academies tend to be conservative so the military leadership may be salvageable from Col. on down. Once they hit the general ranks they all get a lobotomy except a few.
The veterns of this country clearly out number the recent muslim and immigrant crop in today's military and a vast majority of the combat arms still come from the fly over states.
