How Will Importing Dangerous Terrorists Make America Safer?

John Boehner (R-OH)Today the Obama Administration is announcing it plans to import the terrorists held at the Guantanamo Bay prison – some of the most dangerous terrorists in the world – to the Thomson Correctional Center located outside Chicago, Illinois. This decision puts the interests of liberal special interest groups before the safety and security of the American people. Here’s how I addressed this issue at a press conference on Capitol Hill this morning:
The American people don’t want dangerous terrorists imported on to U.S. soil, and time after time the House and Senate have reaffirmed this position with bipartisan votes rejecting the Administration’s plan. Yet this Administration is defying the will of the American people and importing them anyway. What’s worse, this decision is completely unnecessary considering that these terrorists were already being tried by military commissions, which were specifically designed under the law to prosecute such heinous acts.
Republicans have offered a better solution. In May, we introduced the Keep Terrorists Out of America Act (H.R. 2294) to (1) affirm Congress’ opposition to transferring or releasing terrorists held at the Guantanamo Bay prison into the United States; (2) prohibit the Administration from transferring or releasing any terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay to any state without express approval from the state’s governor and legislature; and (3) prohibit the President from transferring or releasing a terrorist detainee into the United States unless he provides notification and certification to Congress. Our proposal reflects the will of the American people, and it puts a premium on their safety and security first and foremost.
In their rush to bring Guantanamo Bay terrorists on to U.S. soil, Washington Democrats have repeatedly failed to articulate an overarching strategy to confront and defeat the terrorist threat. At the very least, the American people deserve to know how importing these dangerous terrorists and giving them the same rights as U.S. citizens will make us any safer. I have yet to see a good explanation, but Republicans will stand with Illinois families and seek every remedy at our disposal to stop this dangerous plan.

Current law passed by congress states that detainees cannot be brought into the the US unless they are to be tried in US court system. Do not allow this law to be changed. Thanks for bringing proposed solutions in H.R. 2294 to our attention. If these detainees are released in the US, then US citizens will be in danger or forced to act in securing our nation.
Do not allow Americans to be placed in danger due to Congresses inability to do its responsibilities.
Speaking for myself which I know I will be speaking for million others, I do not wan't the Terrorist here nor do I want their Trials here. Keep them at Gitmo and send the Terrorist through the Military Tribunal!
Hell, the left started this pretense of outrage about Club Gitmo just to attack Bush. Now that the fringe loonies in the media have established (it is farce) that international terrorists must be Mirandized and granted all the Constitutional rights of a U.S. citizen, bringing them to Burqa al Hussein's home of Craphole, Illinois makes perfect sense (to them, mind you).

And we don't want dangerous terrorists voting in Congress either and we can't stop that either. The greatest threat to America right now is a quasi-domestic terror group led by a Hungarian.
So, we are closing Gitmo because it is a "recruiting tool" for Al Qaeda and now we are all safer because scores of terrorists are now smack dab in the middle of US soil. And nothing in the past 25 years would lead anyone to believe that terrorists housed in US prisons would make America once a gain a juicy target and wonderfully bloody PR target and tool for radical Islamists. All so some political and union cronies in OB's home state can make a few extra bucks. I guess I am just too cynical and not progressive enough to see the pure motives and logic behind this.
It is perfectly clear to all but the most casual observers, that this nothing more then an opportunity to put the previous administration and the CIA on trial… Oh, I almost forgot, itn't that prestigious law firm Covington & Burling representing some of these defendants? You know Steadman's "former patrners"?

Thank you so very much for your outspoken, fearless criticism of this administration, the Democrats and Congress and the ridiculous non-common-sense policies they out forward on daily basis. Like in a chess game, the radical left might be thinking down the road. If "we the people" will be in clear and imminent danger from these imported terrorists for whatever reason that might occur, will that be enough for a declaration of martial law? i'm not sure what makes me happy, that obama left illinois, or terrorists are coming to illinois. both were pretty scary, obama runs the us, and i have to hope that prison is safe. i wonder if we will get a bounty for shooting terrorists that escape, oh wait, in chicago its illegal to own a gun.

The only thing I dont understand is why cant Obama be impeached? He is deliberately destroying America and we can not take another three years of hem doing this if he is not stopped there wont be any kind of recovery that would get us out of this mess that Obama has put us in and he keeps doing it .

Today, on the radio, it was announced that the Feds have purchased a prison is a "sleepy little town" in Illinois. Local officials see this as a shot in the arm to a laqgging economy, but the reality is, that by housing prisoners of this level, prisoners from Gitmo, this "sleepy little town" will be introduced to "police state" tactics, and spending.
Instead of protecting the Liberties of residents of a Mayberry, with as few gendarmes as necessary, the Fed has seen fit to import the very terrorists that we want to keep "from coming over here". In no time at all, tanks and humvees will be a common sight, heavily armed troops, necessary now, because of the new residents, will walk in full combat gear… demanding that the citizenry "stand down", for their own good.
Posse Comitatus …is almost no longer a memory.

I for one am glad that we are returning to the rule of law. I hope that the crimes of the Bush administration are further revealed and that they are prosecuted for war crimes. Once that happens a national emergency can be declared and the constitution set aside. That means that whoever is in power at that point will stay in power until the "emergency" is over.
