America Needs More Jobs, Not More Debt
by Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)Last week, as the national debt topped $12 trillion for the first time in U.S. history, one influential policymaker said, “I think it is important, though, to recognize if we keep on adding to the debt … that at some point, people could lose confidence in the U.S. economy in a way that could actually lead to a double-dip recession.”

This analysis was delivered by President Barack Obama, on whose watch “red ink as far as the eye can see” has become the status quo.
While mostly accurate, President Obama’s comments actually miss the fact that our rapidly decaying fiscal situation has already undermined confidence in the U.S. economy. Washington Democrats saw to that with a trillion-dollar ‘stimulus’ that was supposed to be about creating jobs, but has instead produced countless examples of wasteful government spending while more than three million more Americans have lost their jobs.
It’s no wonder, then, that the Chinese government, which controls about one out of every four foreign dollars invested in our debt, has been asking detailed questions about the long-term fiscal impact of a government takeover of health care.
The Chinese have every right to be concerned. The head of the Concord Coalition, an independent fiscal watchdog, recently described the Senate’s 2,074-page government takeover of health care as “basically, a big entitlement expansion, plus tax increases.”
Much more is at stake here than the short-term status of our economy. The federal government is currently operating on a budget that doubles the national debt in the next five years and triples it in the next 10.
By the time the next decade is out, interest payments to sustain the national debt will exceed $700 billion. That is more than what our nation will spend this year on education, energy, homeland security and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – combined.
Out-of-control spending has been a problem for years in Washington, but instead of hitting the brakes on spending as they promised they would, President Obama and Washington Democrats have stepped on the accelerator. Now, instead of working with Republicans to impose real fiscal discipline, Washington Democrats believe the answer is more of the same unsustainable spending and borrowing. Our kids and grandkids should not have to foot the bill because out-of-touch Washington Democrats will not make the same tough choices required of every family struggling to make ends meet.
Our government is out of money and Washington Democrats are out of ideas. At every turn this year, Republicans have offered better, fiscally-responsible solutions to tackle the immediate challenges facing the American people, including an economic recovery plan that would have created twice the jobs at half the cost, a budget that would impose strict caps to limit federal spending on an annual basis, and the only health care bill that would cut the deficit and consistently reduce federal spending on health care over the next two decades.
Families are asking ‘where are the jobs?’ but all they are getting from out-of-touch Washington Democrats is more spending and more debt piled on our kids and grandkids. The American people deserve a government that lives within its means and fully commits itself to creating good-paying jobs, and only Republicans have proposed solutions to give them exactly what they want. Now more than ever, America needs more jobs, not more debt.

Hey John why did you not speak up during the Bush years. I want to point out that we should always be disgusted with debt no matter who is crafting the budget. Republicans Politicians better take note that if they get a second chance they better not screw us again. For the last 18 years I have voted Republican I'm not sure I would do that today. Lindsey Gram is one of my Senators and I would not vote today based on his support of illegals and Cap and Trade. Lindsey is one of those politicians who is willing to screw the public to further his career.
Not to mention the blatant corruption being flaunted under our nose. And more importantly we get the bill for it.
Rep. Boehner, thanks for posting on a forum such as this. I hope you read the comments section. Colascguy has a point. You guys are so hopped up right now opposing Obama which is awesome. But we need opposition to socialism when WE are in power. That said, thank you for your work in holding everyone together to oppose the healthcare proposals. Don't let up on any of it.
Coalscguy,
I would agree with you about the Bush years, but I think what is happening there are a lot more conservatives "waking up" now, having missed some of the fiscal abuse under Bush. All that matters is where we are … which is huge debt and no restraint. I would not mind Dems in power at all IF they would control spending, reign in govt, and get the hell off my lawn in liberty terms. Course, that is as likely as the Easter Bunny delivering my Thanksgiving Turkey.
sorry John but it seems you were part of the problem too!!! I think if you were CEO you be gone too!!! yes se need use jobs so how about reduce taxes and bring manufacturing jobs back in the USA ???
CON-gressman Boehner,
with all due respect, posturing is always proactive politics, but it is transparent. Although I would like to believe you have the best intentions of the Country at heart, I can't. You, have been part of the problem. You were there during the Bush years, when this monster was created. Now, Obama will grossly surpass Bush in the red ink department. When will YOU People ever learn?
I'd be curious to know just how much of the budget is earmarked for poer projects in Ohio? I'm sure there are more than enough. This is about more than economics, it is about right and wrong. YOU People have sold the birth rights of our children, and mortgaged our grandhildren.
Do you think WE should believe you, and trust you simply because you have a fancy John Edwards haircut?
The Government can't run out of money, they are the ones who have it printed. They will just keep printing money untiol we need to take a wheelbarrow full of it to the store for a loaf of bread and they tell us to keep the money and leave the wheelbarrow
"America needs more jobs, not more debt."
No Congressman, what America needs is more States Rights and less Federal Intrusion. You people need to leave US alone. It is getting to the point that WE need relief from the grevious and odious burdens you people are placing on US. WE, are not your serfs, and resent being treated as such.
Washington needs to spend more time defending international waterways and protecting US from Somali Pirates, than you do intruding in our daily lives and commerce……….
We have encountered downturns in our economy before. The average American knows what is needed to end the current cyclical downturn: a meaningful reduction in business tax rates and an overall reduction in regulations in order to make it easier and less expensive for companies to expand and to create wealth and jobs. This isn't complicated and the choice is very simple of you have the best interests of the country and her people at heart.
Remmber folks they get a $174,000 a yr paycecck + perks ….. John gets right at $200,000 a yr…. and they talk about wall street corruption….
I like ya John but it's time for you guys to clean house and go after your own…. This government has gotten way out of control…. you guys have nothing on ENRON…. they were kids compared to you guys ….
but remember your check comes every two weeks like clockwork …. you sit in your leather chairs .. the heat works in your office, you have to walk down to your medicial offices, you walk to your bank, you walk to your gym, free parking
please sir … come back when you actully cut something … I mean really .. do yo need gym????
I find it an interesting "coincidence" that the lowest deficit in the projections occurs in an election year – 2012.
Come on, let's give the Congressman a break. Hindsight is cheap and easy and meaningless. No one could have predicted this economic and political train wreck two years ago.
Congressman Boehner didn't put Obama in office, your neighbors did. He doesn't control the lefty media either.
Righteous indignation is a good thing if it is constructive. There is enough blame to go around.
No where we are is not all that matters. You need to base your future perspective on past performance. If these people did not have the moral authority to stand up and pound the chest in the past what make you think that they will not sell their souls again. Career politicians and Lobbyist are screwing America do you not get it
Then there were the famous pictures of skinny Barry, taken as he came out of the gym at a military base…
Given how much extra it costs when the President leaves the White House to do something, anything, how come he can't just exercise there? Each "trip to the gym" costs us what, ten StairMasters?

also if this was not the government we were talking about here, over 70% of you would be in prision… ponder on that one!!!!
So when you wake up and put on your nice suit (tax write off) and drive (if you do take your self to work) (tax write-off) and eat your breakfast lunch and dinner (tax write off) and fly home (tax write off) come talk to the real people that keep this country moving…. go into your heartland of Ohio and stop a listen… stay out of the UNION areas and really watch a real person work… shake the hands and actually feel the touch of what hard workign hands feel like ….Did you know your suit is made from cotton? Take a day out of work and actully follow it from seed to store and see what it really takes…..
sorry man … no pass from me ….. call me "American" sir… I worked really hard to get that title !!!!
Soory but you picked a bad day to "find" yourself….
Tell Obama thanks for the troop decision and sorry he has to wait till his OBAMA NIGHT on TV to announce it !!! Tell him while he's eating that turkey there is a guy in the desert choking on sand to protect his hiney and yours !!!!!
Kick ass or get the hell out !!!! Teach them the words "Don't F with the USA ever again"
I beg to differ. By being responsible to the public and running no deficit and no national debt this economic downturn would have been completely different. Do you remember the story of the Grasshopper and the Ant. The US is the grasshopper we have saved nothing for winter.
You are correct that the populace put Obama in office as well as every other out control congressman that spend like a drunk sailor on shore leave, It is time that the American public cleans house.
RIGHT ON SISTER!!!!!!!
yeah, but don't you see that starting in '02, we were in the negative? the CONgressman was in office, and the republicans were in charge. They really blew it, and they have a lot of work to do before I believe any of them.
Dear John; I like your attempt at edu-me-cating us…but casting aspersions is unwarranted. We know who did this — Congress for past 30 years. The Community Reinvestment Act, HUD Secretaries for past thirty years, ACORN, SEIU, et al extorting and intimidartong banks to lend to folks with no income??? FNMA and Freddie Mac are more corrupt than Enron, WorldCom, S&L crisis, CDO's and credit default swaps all combined. Why??
How do you all look in the mirror each day and then blame the other guy?? We now know the enemy, and the enemy is Congress. Full of pork, and New Orleans hookers getting Medicaid…give me a break….and Judges now more liberal than Maoist Generals??? When are we going to just say NO?? Stop spending! Call for a moratorium on any new spending, stimulus pork plans and all hooker payoffs. Just stop it. Or make a deal with China to come in and call their debt. Give China Government Motors (GM) and toss in the whole state of California to boot. We need to payoff debt now, stop spending now and say NO. Audit the FED and find out which international banks have us by the baXXs. Stop whinning, and do you job. PLEASE.
CON-gressman Boehner: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
America is in a dark and foul mood.
What "you people" fail to "get", is that WE see through the charade.
For deficit reduction… Let's get out of Afghanistan.
We could win it, it should be won… But when there is an immediate need for additional support now, and he dithers away a summer before deciding to low-ball on what was the middle barely-helping option as the hard Afghan winter sets in so the troops won't be there until next year anyway…
We do not have a leader who could win, therefore Afghanistan becomes yet one more example of this administration's doomed-to-fail policies that we should not be spending the money on (which we don't have) to confirm they would fail. We have already racked up enough cleanup costs on what this wannabe communist revolutionary has already inflicted on us.
I am always amazed at how people only look at what they want. Yes during the Bush years our deficit grew, but look carefully and you will see that it was during the years we were getting into the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan, war costs money. The deficit was coming down in the two years following the gear up. Even in the first year of the Democrats control of the purse, the deficit was down, but when did we see it dramatically increase,,last year, when the Democrats were sure pretty they had control of both houses and the presidency. You can blame Bush all you want, but remember, it is Congress who holds the purse strings.
Mr. Boehner I can appreciate your courage throwing your thoughts into the lions den (BG) with pissed off conservative Americans. But you sir are part of the problem. From 1994 to 2006 when the Republicans were in control, the government grew every year, without exception. Mr. Bush gave us with your help, No Child Left Behind, Prescription Drugs for Seniors, attempted Immigration Reform (amnesty), TARP, raised the debt ceiling, funded ACORN, Fannie-Mac – - Freddie-Mac, and on and on… So excuse me if I find your plea of conservative purity, with all due respect, phony! Get right, or get gone!
And it is the President who SIGNS it………..
Well, there was that little War On Terror thing going on in '02… Perhaps you noticed it, was mentioned in the papers…?
Hi John Boehner, welcome to posting on BigGovernment. You seem to be number two of the politicians posting your thoughts. Be sure to read the comments as most of them are written by true blooded Americans. We hope to send you a conservative House of Rep in 2010. Don't blow it.

There were republican that supported the expansion of the SCHIP program and the prescription drug program two major expansions of the federal government. SCHIP was expanded to offer benefits to illegals as well as to increase the max salary and max age of individuals allowed in the program. For a program designed to help poor children is seems to have exceeded the boundaries of common sense.
Repeal the Stimulus and take the $500 billion left and eliminate federal taxes for individuals for six months (about the same amount of money). That will be stimulus. Then cut federal spending starting with all congressional pork barrel spending. The remaining $500 billion in the stimulus bill is mainly pork to help democrats in 2010.
The republicans who are part of the problem want to get on board with the conservitive revolution now that they see that is is happening in force. Very few of them were for it or cared back before the numbers swelled so high, and none of them stopped this for the last several decades.
I think they should be asking the same questions that the liberals in power, acorn, global warming supporters, and cair should be asking… "Where are our gods now?"
Lead – the time has passed.
Follow – you have no other choice.
Getting out of the way – that'll be just fine.
Republicans waited too long. Now we're too mad to see straight. Yes, you'll pick up a lot of seats next year but you better nominate a Reagan Conservative or you'll lose them again in 12.

Mr Boehner … your payroll deposit of $ 7438.00 ($193,400 / 52 weeks x 2) just went in…. or $4838.00 (35% tx rate)
Still … anyone take home almost 5 grand every two weeks !!!!
In 1989, Congress passed an amendment allowing for the automatic raises, unless lawmakers specifically voted to reject it.
Congress has now voted itself a total of $16,700 in raises over the last six years. Since 1990, congressional pay has increased from $98,400 to $154,700 in 2003 and counting since it is now up to $174,000 !!!
Wow how you never hear Congress use percentage points when there saying how much their pay has went up !!!! Try that for me Johnny!! I'll be watching C-SPAN
angel ,, this is the point I think you don't get .. a lot of people did vote for this CLOWN because they did want CHANGE and he is worse than the last guy !!!! This is what everyone is mad at.. We thought we would get a non-politician and someone for the people but all we got was a socialists who was brougth up hating America and what it stands for… He has no clue how to run a Wal-Mart let alone the US of A.
He has to payback his cornies who got him in office as usual !!!
Here's a question for you Johnny (can i call you that?)
How is the playing field fair for Private Healtcare companies vs Government?
Does the government pay property taxes? Profit taxes? FICA taxes? Payroll taxes? Do they pay to build the buildings? Tell me if private has all this on thier plate how would the government option be on the same playing field?
Think about it folks – think about what your business has to pay in taxes vs what the government option doesn't.

It's time for this country to get back to basics. Banks should lend money to credit worthy borrowers. Wall Street should sell investments backed up by companies that actually produce something…Government should protect and defend our liberties and abide by our Constitution…. not destroy it. Sounds like we have a lot to do to restore our great country. Americans are waking up….I pray it's not too late.
Dear Rep. Boehner,
Quit talking and do something about it. We are sick of hearing the republicans complain with no action. I don't care if you have to sue the president, put a stop to the insanity or you ARE part of the problem. Group the republicans together and let them know if they are not with the group, they will never get another dime of GOP money or a GOP label. THEN go on the attack. Put an end to the "niceness" of congress and tear the dems apart verbally. Call them every name in the book…fascist, racist, marxist, pedophile, terrorist…they all fit. And while you're at it. How about putting some serious pressure on the likes of George Voinobitch. He's a disgrace and he's part of your party. If anyone ever needed some SEIU persuading…it's George.
This kind of thinking gave us Newt, both Bushes, Lindsey Graham, Maverick….should I keep going?
No more gravy train for ignorant vanity cases who just want to shove thier nose into the overcrowded public trough.
Im sorry even though what the Rep. John Boehner is true, he complete shoots himself in the foot when it comes out that while he is preaching about the regular folks and how hard it is for them, he is off with his political action committee spending $82,998 in golf outings. As a high ranking official he probably makes close to 200k a year but he can with a straight face say we are all in this together while being wined and dined like a prince. There is a reason these people spend millions upon millions of dollars for a gig that pays only 150-250k, its called perk perks perks!!!! Im sorry but this is all too typical of both parties and if everyone does not wake up and hold all of them accountable it will not matter which party is in power.
There are ways to finance wars. Those ways do not include a massive entitlement program known as medicare part D.
There was huge spending, and its not just related to the wars. Maybe you shouldn't cut taxes when you need to finance a war? There are ways to fight the war without having half a trillion per year deficits. With all the tax money the federal government takes in, there is no reason to have any deficits, war or not.
Republicans messed up, big time. That's a fact.
As you can see by the comments posted thus far, we are all quite sick of the rhetoric we have been fed over the last 8 – 10 years. It's really easy to jab at the current administration, and they deserve it. However, any politician who has been in power for more than the last 6 years MUST wear responsibility for our current situation.
The currently proposed Health Care plan is the perfect example of the disrespect shown to the Taxpayer. We get to sacrifice for the good of all and the Politicians & Beauraucrats maintain their current plan, for the good of ??. Until politicians learn to respect those they are voted to represent, and live by the very same rules, I doubt they will get much respect. BTW, I have not heard you state any objections against the disparity in Health Care proposals?
Economists have been warning the government about the housing "bubble" for much longer than 2 years. The response was to expand even further the Community Reinvestment Act. How's that for crazy? Someone should have listened…
Dear John,
We all remember how you and Gingrich went nuts with the spending and regulations. We all remember that the Contract with America was a marketing gimmick that actually grew by 13% the programs it was supposed to cut / eliminate.
Your handling (as a party) of the so called healthcare bill has not been very effective. A couple of points you need to be hammering away at:
1) The very constitutionality of the legislation.
2) The scoring assumptions used by the CBO were a joke and need to be exposed. Do you own research on this if you have not read through it.
3) The legislation will forever cement the Democrat/Government/Union oligarchy in America and has much more to do with a total takover of our political system. Does the GOP fully appreciate this?
You are dealing with a different America now sir, and you in leadership positions in the Grand Old Party need to realize the threat America is facing, and the viability of the Republicans as a real opposition party.
Keep coming back, you need to hear from real humans outside the beltway, no matter how badly you get smacked around. Also remember you deserve it.
I would like half the governemnt I have now and half of my taxes back for the crappy job Congress has done.
Absolutely no deficits as a good thing is a myth. When there are surpluses politicians spent them which acts like a tax. So, surpluses aren't absolutely good either. Deficits, mind you I'm not talking about this current monstrosity, in a reasonable world without today's Democrat congress are a curb on spending.
Responsible people and businesses run deficits at times.
With all due respect Boehner did you say "only Republicans have proposed solutions to give them exactly what they want" with a straight face. Or were you joking?
Whose idea was it to rewrite new bankruptcy laws in 2005? Whose idea was it to suppress real lending reform in 2006? Whose idea was it to allow the derivatives market to decimate the most important asset class in the world – US housing – a seed sown in 1999?
Okay so maybe they weren't Republican ideas. But the Republican Party has obviously shown that they are NOT the gatekeepers. And if you are not guarding the gate or protecting the castle…
Puh-lease, prescription drug coverage did not take effect until 2006. Moreover I remember liberals screaming for blood and wanting a government takeover, of demanding to include the drugs in Medicare. What we got isn't that bad, has helped seniors, and preserved free market competition.
Ah forget it. If you want to dredge up stuff happening four years later to make your point, blame it all on Republicans, and beat up on me while angelsjoy is making the same point below, you are not worth my time. Enjoy your Hope and Change.
Senator, you are part of the problem if your not actively speaking out against Obama and his crazy agneda which is killing this country. Is this just your usual lip service of political double speak that makes some people feel that your on their side. Nice try! but it doesn't work anymore! If you want my support and that of my friends and family ypu had better find away to stop these bills and start restoring our rights and lowering taxes. If you just stand around and meekly mumble you don't want something, you are of no value to us! ROCK THE BOAT AND END THE CORRUPTION EVEN IF GET YOU TOO! NO more taxes and those in place get eliminated. Shrink the size of government. Cut the congress expense accounts, payscale. beneifts package so that they have to have what the public has! No special preveliges for congress. Remove bureaucrats that undermine the countries security. Which is dozens of the current clowns in Justice and state.
You better come to Jesus Senator or we'll fiere you along with the rest of the liars and thieves and maybe jail you just for the heck of it! House cleaning is coming! are you part of the broom or trash we're going to sweep away! wake Up America! Don't accept watered down politically safe comment like this! Demand that the politians stop whats going on and that they clean house!
Same old song and dance. Old story new year. A reduction in tax revenue is the only thing changing the situation, e.g. City of Chicago, State of California, et al having to pick and choose what to do with those tax dollars. An economic collapse is a nice correction for the big spending republicans and democrats.
Please concentrate on reduction of the welfare state AND the military industry complex. Cutting the military budget doesn't mean that you are unpatriotic or invite terrorism. Nation building is not our job, Afghanastan is stuck in the thirteenth century, you will not bring a democracy or legitimate government to that country without decades of occupation.
Oh, and while your at it get rid of the department of education, dept. of homeland security, farmer welfare……
CONgressman Boehner,
while the rest of the country suffers, what will YOU be doing for Thanksgiving?
At this stage of the game, about the only thing WE would have to be thankful for, would be that the Capital Dome collapse while both Houses were in Joint Session.
Well actually some people did predict the economic demise (Peter Schiff), and some people realized after Bush ran the debt from $6 trillion to $12 trillion the republicans didn't have a snow balls chance of getting the office.
Republican = Big government democrat with more preference on spending on the military industry complex rather than health and human services
Things weren't great but far better until the D-rats took over in Jan 2007. Been a complete train wreck since then.
Personally, I'd shut down every entitlement program. They are ALL unconstitutional.
America needs few Congressmen. The other problems will be able to fix themselves.
And what defines a win kadaka? Al Quaeda is spread in many countries you baffoon, should we invade those countries and nation build as well. Sending more troops is a mistake, ask the Russians.
Combating terrorists doesn't mean occupation for decades and trying to build up a nation that is stuck in the 13th century with no formal legitimate government.
More troops solves nothing but gives the Taliban more targets and speeds our bankruptcy as a nation.
My advice to Mr. Boehner is to read the comments in Big Government religously to understand the dynamic that is happening right now.
We do not want a "Contract with America part Deux".
We want honest, common sense conservatism that most Americans still value.
No more rhetoric.
So you are saying you will vote democrat or not at all? Either way the democrat wins and the march to bankruptcy continues. The only option we have is to kick out the homesteading republicans in the primaries but when it comes to the main election you can't afford not to vote. As one can see…a vote for a "blue dog" democrat is still a vote for those weasels harry and nancy (un-capitalized names to show my lack of respect for them). Today in the US there is no such thing as voting for an individual on principal because even with best intentions they will be overshadowed and controlled by the party whole (Zel Miller couldn't overcome this crap). But then again you might just be a democrat posting here to sow doubt. That is a favorite tactic of the dems.
A baffoon? Is that one of the now-extinct species killed off by global warming, like the dodo bird was?
A "win," at minimum, is a country hardened against extremist takeover, that we can leave and not expect it to be immediately devoured by the enemy. That at least is achievable, while we may not like the Afghan government as it is now they at least realize it is in their enlightened self-interest to stay in power. Fight back the extremists long enough for them to establish a solid base of military strength with strong government institutions and that much is done.
The next part is a society that is free, open, prosperous, and democratic, as that "keeps the peace" and keeps the extremists at bay the longest. That is the real nation building that is complained about, that will take much longer and be more costlier than it was in Iraq. Well, that is optional. If Karzai turns out to be a "benevolent" dictator, fine, long as he can hold the post. As we knew during the Cold War, keeping the enemy away can be the most important thing. We put up with Mubarak in Egypt for that reason, we can settle for Karzai in Afghanistan for the same.

That's right. Hire another Lee Atwater to go after the Democrats and call them what they are. They are a national crime syndicate trying to use policy to turn this country into one party rule. Then they plan on selling us out to the UN with ObaMao as president (in his dreams) of a one world government. They are deliberately tanking the economy and there won't be private industry jobs because they are trying to do away with the middle class. Call it what it is and stop acting like a bunch of gentlemen sipping mint juleps on the veranda. Your message needs to be clear and concise and so far it's muddled and ineffective. You and yours should be all over the airwaves using facts and figures. Make accusations where they are deemed necessary or say goodbye to the USA as we know it.
I forgot this one thing…the opposition is spending us into oblivion and systematically looting the Treasury as they help themselves and their cronies to the spoils.
About a month ago, I was listening to talk radio late one night and CNBC talk show host Danny Deutsch happened to be the guest. Now I can't stand this guy normally, but he was talking about a recent party he'd gone to where there were a bunch of high-powered Wall Street types in attendance. He said there were about 10-12 of them who had enough money to bankroll a presidential campaign. They had originally backed Obama but felt they could no longer do so. They were begging for the Repubs to put up a fiscal conservative candidate for them to support. Deutsch sounded very disillusioned with Dear Reader. Make of it what you will.
Art Laffer, Reagan's economic advisor, was just on Cavuto (Stuart Varney of Fox Business News is the host today). Laffer said the crisis over the dollar is already here and that we must have a sea change in 2012 with some relief in 2010. He said he thinks the Dems will use the nuclear option to get healthcare passed with 51 votes and will pass something on climate change. Laffer said that all the damage the Dems have been doing could be undone in a weekend (he explained how to do it – for instance, don't tax while you're trying to grow the economy, taxes don't bring jobs, etc.), but that it's going to take the people to get it done by voting them all out of office. He had dinner a few nights ago with Maggie Thatcher and they were discussing the mess the US is in and how they would undo the damage.
I'm sorry, but, some of the spittle spewed rude and blatantly ignorant remarks on this board are as nauseating and as ignorant as Code Pink's rantings on the other side of the spectrum.
Sure, remove every sitting member of congress, fat chance, and, yep, teach the Republicans a lesson by not voting for any of them anymore, a gift to the Democrats, and, by all means, in the most insulting blowhard manner rage at any Republican congressman that posts here. For God's sakes some of you, grow up, seek solutions within a realistic framework and stop the mindless ranting in ridiculous absolute terms, such as invoking "all" as it's the hallmark of the small mind.
Not all congressmen are corrupt, the reality is that when you aren't the party in power in congress outcomes aren't often in your favor. Rudely invoking "CON-gressman Boehner" wasn't necessary in making a reasoned point.
Andrew Breitbart deserves better. I don't think he envisioned this site as the conservate answer to Daily Kos where angry lefty ranting replaces measured and reasoned commentary.
I agree….I saw it….was a great interview and definitely made a lot of sense to me……..God Bless to all and happy thanksgiving.
I look forward to the real "Change" that is about to come…….amen.
Good article, Mr. Boehner, I give you credit for bringing your skin out there in the market, so to speak. The truth really is we are all in it together. The citizens and GOPs have all learned their lessons. We need a bigger platform and should welcome everyone who has ideas and actions to contribute. Keep fighting for what is right!
How exactly is this being productive? Plus, you are not really mad at this guy, you are just mad.
Enraged testosterone usually doesn't do such a good job cleaning the house. I look forward to debating you on facts next week.
Is that you again, Margaret?
Sometes, there is a fine line between humor, satire, and reality. The fun part is figuring where the line is. Am I mad? No, Am I mad at Bohener? No, not personally. I despise his hypocrisy though, and that of his CON-federates in CON-gress. Do I wish the Capitol Dome would really fall down? No. WE would have to pay to rebuild it, and if that were to happen, I'm sure they wouldn't want ti rebuilt in plaster, but in platinum.
Sorry if it seemed I was disagreeing with everything, I just wanted to point out that people want to blame Bush for everything(and believe me, I had problems with some of what he did). True, the president signs the bill, but Congress has the ability to pare down anything that he sends(he just makes the budget). For the last, oh, 30 years or so, both the White House and Congress have been spending like the money will never run out, so you can't blame any one particular group. This administration, though, has taken the spending to the extreme, tripling the deficit in 1 year.
Tone Loc, if people thought this man was going to be for change then they got exactly what they voted for. I saw right through him almost immediately, pretty speeches, no substance, no experience, just a socialist.
No I will vote for the conservative. I do not care what party they are from as long as they beleave in the US constitution, a balanced budget, paying down the national debt, etc…. It its unlikely that I will find those attributes in a Democrat but an Independent will do just fine by me. And before you harp on "but you'll be throuwing your vote away" That is what I have been doing for the last 8 plus years with a vote for Republicans. I am sick and tired of voting democratic lite. Both parties are running the country to bankruptcy the Dems are just doing it faster. And if Republicans are being controlled by the party then the party has failed. When the party comes back to Center Right give me call and I might just support you. For now I am sending all my donations directly to canidates I have faith in.

Don't be silly. The US isn't a dictatorship. If it were, the authorities would have told us.

America Needs More Jobs, Not More Debt : This assertion appears to fit well into the disastrous war waste. Unless money finds a right place to go, it tends to be watered down, in general.
At present, except for a job index – the final and most arduous focus -, the remainders of economic indexes are looking up. In this context, if the crucial cash is headed toward the right destination, rather than heartbreaking war costs, the uncertainty about the economy should be no doubt cleared.
did i blame it all on the republicans? nope.
do the democrats suck worse than the republicans? all signs point to 'yes'.
i think that both parties are full of crap, and they both suck. That's my point. If you think i like obama's "hope and change", you're mistaken. I'm not trying to make an enemy out of you, my friend. I'm just saying that the republicans really blew it, big time. And failing to acknowledge that fact, in my opinion, is not going to help. I just really feel like the republicans screwed us, and i don't want it to happen again.
by the way, i voted for Libertarian Bob Barr. I'd never vote for a wealth redistributing scum bag like Obama.
