The Fall of the Wall: A Resounding Victory for Freedom
by Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)
The fall of the Berlin Wall marked a resounding victory for freedom and human dignity. On this day 20 years ago, a long-standing symbol of division and oppression crumbled under the weight of a revolution inspired by leaders whose faith in God and commitment to freedom changed the world. Years in the making, that movement dismantled the Soviet bloc in a matter of months, erecting in its place a number of young democracies that our nation now counts among its staunchest allies.
Of course, that historic moment would not have been possible without American leadership, embodied in the courageous words of President Ronald Reagan, who stood at the Brandenburg Gate and demanded that the wall come down and communism give way once and for all. On this occasion, we renew our pledge to stand with free peoples and people who seek to be free.

Freedoms bell rings mighty loud when people strive for it. Lets keep striving for freedom. God Bless America!
Freedom.
No other word stirs such deep feelings in people.
Oddly enough, this site has had several such threads today, and they have been the least commented threads I have seen in a while. That is telling.
When freedom becomes blasse' or passe', the pendelum has swung against US. People are less passionate in America anymore, than they are towards their Sunday Football Church. That is freightening. That is why our freedoms are being stripped from US, as rapidly as they are. There is no puch-back from the people toward the government. Nobody, is speaking truth to power.

This is more a question for John Boehner if reads this stuff (probably not) but it relates to freedom, since that's what the health care bill is crafted to so carefully remove the last vestiges of.
I am truly interested why you didn't consider a "Vote Present" on the Stupak amendment, it would have removed cover from the democrats that needed it to vote yes, if the bill would have passed anyway so much the better for 2010.
I cannot come up with a scenario where you would have been worse off other then PR wise with the leftists, but that assumes it would not have worked, and you care what leftist think.
Thinkng man,
I was going to ask Congressman Boehner exactly what his thoughts were, comparing what he just wrote here, and what transpired in Washington over the weekend. It is one thing to wax nostalgic about the twenty year anniversary of the Iron Curtain, while simultaneously sitting by idly, while our freedoms are being stripped away by a Communist Kommisar, and inncocent citizen soldiers are beinbg slaughtered by Muslims in our military depots.
"Staunchest allies" Not for much longer if BoBo has his way
Freedom’s hard work, you have to get yourself up in the morning, for the Marxist just this is a nonstarter. Freedom requires responsibility for ones own actions, a firm line between right and wrong, good and evil, this doesn’t fit with the professional student, and his or her school boy moral equivalence arguments. Freedom requires the courage of your convictions, when you make a legitimate commitment to another person it’s to be kept, love of family, love of country. Freedom isn’t free, It requires free men and women to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign or domestic. Freedom, more and more, is becoming a catch phrase for statist to pilfer from the achievers to sustain the parasite class to be free to be worthless. We have much work to be done, if the greatest country the world has ever produced is to survive it’s latest onslaught. The enemy is inside the wire and it’s our own frightened countrymen scared to risk anything for their own sustenance. God help us, and God Bless America!
To bad the prez didn't go, but maybe he was paying them back when he wasn't invited before he was elected,
sounds like obummer to me, I am not a Bush fan but obummer is poison for the US in all ways.

I was in the military, in Germany, up until just before the Berlin Wall fell. I wasn't really surprised, although I was pleased. I was an imagery analyst, and had regular information about what was going on inside Russia. I could tell by the way the Russians had given up on things they had previously considered important, especially on cleanliness of their factories and other work areas. There had been little or no "clutter" in these work areas in the 70's and early 80's, but by 1987 clutter was everywhere, even in the more prestigious military equipment plants. The Russians had just plain given up on ever having a better life, and did less and less. Things aren't much better now, from what I can see on Google Earth. Productivity is directly linked to compensation, regardless of what the Left wants us to believe. Compensation in Russian industry was too often based upon party membership. Productivity reflected that (and to a point, still does). The same can be said about GM and Chrysler, and quite a few other unionized businesses.
Great post. That sounds like an interesting job in the military! You may have another word for it, but that just fascinates me. I bet you have some great stories.

Hopefully Cuba will be the next one to fall. If we could keep the American socialist celebs from propping the Cuban ego up it may happen sooner than we think. Michael Douglas, Sean Penn. What little men.
