Eyewitness to an SEIU Assault: The Kenneth Gladney Incident
by Harris HimesMy wife, Sandra, and I attended St. Louis Congressman Russ Carnahan’s panel on aging. The tactic was clear. They let in about two hundred of us but had about 120 seats set aside, marked “RSVP,” and these were for Carnahan supporters. These people were let in by a side door for the “handicapped.” Many had purple t-shirts with “Organizing for America” in white letters on the back and large “SEIU,” smaller “Service Employees International Union” on the front. [Ed Note: The events described were on August 6, 2009]
They shut the doors on about 1000 people around 6:30 pm for the 7:00 pm event. After being introduced, Carnahan spoke but was booed frequently while the supporters stood and applauded. It was announced that there would be a question and answer period at the end, so “be respectful.” Then a regional director of AARP spoke to many boo’s, followed by about five other speakers. The dissenters waited somewhat patiently, waiting to pounce on the Congressman during the Q&A.
Finally, Carnahan stood for questions. It turned out that the questions had to be written and turned in. The dissenters booed, shouting that they didn’t know this and hadn’t been given a chance to write any. It didn’t make any difference, because he answered a couple of seminar questions and then announced that he had to leave about 8:30 for an “interview”—after most of the time had been taken up by the panel. A late-evening interview seemed contrived, and people booed, while most left while the “stooge” panel ran cover for him by taking questions from those who stayed after Carnahan left.
Strategy: Lengthy panel, a few staged questions at the end from a select group, and time conveniently runs out. Congressman exits.
Then, as Sandra and I walked back to our car, she stopped to look at some buttons and flags, “Don’t Tread on Me,” etc., being sold/given away by a nice, young black man (38—as it turns out—seems young to us—Ken Gladney was his name), when—just as she was walking away—a large, black man in a purple t-shirt confronted Gladney. Sandra heard him call him a, “son of a nigger,” a phrase she had never heard before. The black man (I heard later he was supposed to be a minister) slapped Gladney’s hand holding the yellow flags. Then he punched Gladney in the side of his face, knocking him down. Another large, purple t-shirt white guy attacked him from behind. The fight continued across the sidewalk, out into the street, with Sandra and me and several others trying to break it up. We got Gladney on his feet, and the white thug jerked him down to the ground—again from the back.
We finally corralled the police, and they arrested the two tea-shirts. As it turns out, Sandra and I were only two of three witnesses to the start of the fracas. This becomes important, since the union thugs claim Kenneth Gladney started the fight. As far as I know, Sandra is the only one who heard the racist remark to corroborate Gladney’s statements.
Another fight erupted among two women, when a union woman hit a small white woman who had been videoing her touching people, trying to incite a physical reaction—trying to start trouble. Then another fight among some women brewed up, resisting the police. The instigators were arrested.
Mr. Gladney is considering suing the union thugs for a hate crime, among other allegations. Sandra and I might be called as witnesses, both in that action as well as any criminal prosecution of the union people.

What a horrifying event. Obama's SEIU thugs along with ACORN thugs used as Brownshirts of the Obama Regime. If they can't convince you of their radical socialist agenda they'll "make you" shut up! This incident should be followed by the press so that they aren't treated like New Black Panther defendents who were being prosecuted for voter intimidation in Philadelphia Nov. 4, 2008. Eric Holder, Justice Dept. had charges dropped and Panthers told no billy clubs allowed at polling places for the next 3 years! Hugo Chevez and Castro would be proud! America this is NOT!

We are all Kenneth Gladney. Our White House just days before said 'Punch back twice as hard' so the Purple Shirts did on this day. They use to wear brown shirts, the color of the shirt does not matter. What matters is what history has shown us as our leaders follow the same path as Stalin, Mussloini, Mao, and Hitler. When government becomes larger the people become smaller and the population decreases.

The one question that comes to mind is, why would the union members' be so against anyone else outside of the union realm? What do they have to fear from a man with buttons and flags? I could almost understand what happened if the man with the buttons and flags were threatening their union jobs by being non-union. What exactly is inciting the SEIU members' to such hate filled actions?
This is so sad. I wish Kenneth Gladney the best and hopes he wins his lawsuit. These thugs need to get their asses kicked. Hopefully it will happen soon. Karma.

i doubt he was selling buttons for a union so why would this be ok if he was non-union and threatening their jobs?

They are not thinking their actions out. SEIU is supporting their elected officials by supporting their political agenda therefore, if their elected officials do not like HusseinCare, Purple Peter Eaters show up in droves in attempt to stiffle the opposiiton. In this case, they get arrested and we await the trials of the Purple Goons.

I myself attended the first hour or so of the meeting, having to leave before the conclusion. And I think Rep. Carnahan was responsible for the whole thing. He sent out robo-calls that afternoon, announcing a town hall on health care, when the original planning of the event was for an informational night on aging. When I signed in, I was told that if I was there for anything other than the "aging" issues, I should just go home. My Congressman's worker could give me no explanation why I had gotten a telephone call from him earlier in the day inviting me to something else. But the whole thing was terribly unfair to the speakers and businesses/information booths who were there for the original purpose of the meeting. Unfortunately, when it comes to a Carnahan, they are the only ones who matter.
Obama is very much in league with the SEIU.
They are carrying out the "dear leader's" orders.
Anyone against the "dear leader" is therefore "against" the SEIU, so they beat them up, bite off fingers, punch and beat them. Yes, it's as simple as that.
Because the flags were "Don't tread on me" flags, and the buttons were mostly, if not entirely, critical of the President. And one dare not criticize the man who pledged to "Paint the country purple."
I love it, using the hate crimes laws against these fools, how ironic!

Being from Detroit and witnessing for many years the union and minority "activities"… The one common denominator between the two groups is they ALWAYS have to travel in "packs"… This is due to their extreme yellow stripes that run down their backs….as cowards and buffoons. You will NEVER see a union (low IQ) thug EVER approach an American on his own.
I have first hand experience as I was an Executive Director of the ABC and had to carry a weapon when visiting job sites……due to their "pack mentality" cowardice. Stand up to them….they truly are cowards….

God bless you and the wife for standing up. This is the reason I went to my local bla Dem's town hall meeting. There were the same purple shirts and I wanted to be there in case they decided to over step there bounds.

Once that was done, the effect was predictable.

Stimulus money here in Hawaii went to infrastructure projects. And infrastructure projects are predominately contracted to Big Union because Neil Abercrombie is our elected representative bought and paid for by Big Union. (Just ask him…he wears the corruption like a badge)
So anyway. We commonly see two union workers doing a fine job supervising one union worker who is cautiously assisting the one poor schmuck at the bottom of the union ladder doing all the work. And all four are paying for Big Union "leadership" to live handsomely while spending union dues on campaigns and politicians who keep the aforementioned wheels turning.
Let me sanitize this. Our grandchildren just took on more debt so that a few guys could keep just a handful of guys busy building roads at twice the price and in twice the time. If you were a "purple shirt" then don't you think that scheme is worth fighting over. You really don't think that they want to go find real jobs do ya?
The best thing you did is get publicity. Normally you want to lay low but the more visible you are the harder for them to coerce you.
Union leadership is organized. Capone was organized. Gotti was organized. Get the drift.
what really scares me most are the unions are trying to pass a bill that will put all police forces as well an emergcy services an fire fighters under union control, if this bill passes it wont do anyone any good to call the police in these cases.

As Andy Stern says, leader of SEIU, "We take persuation to power and if that does not work, then we take power to persuation." He is Obama's dear friend, his adviser, and most frequent visiter to the White House.
OK guys, it has begun to hit the fan. Don't forget Obama's campaign pledge to develop a "civilian army" that he intends to be far better equipped and much better trained than the federal military. We now have some indication that he intends Americorps to be the organizing body for that civilian army. You might remember the Americorps official who was tasked to perform an audit of Americorp and, for some reason, was terminated by the Obama administration and never to be heard from again – Anyone care to guess what he was about to reveal as a result of his audit? Indeed, Obama has on several occasions indicated that he intends to implement a military like draft to force teens and young adults into his Americorps, ostensibly for "voluntary" community service. He mentioned that several times during his campaign, but very few people cared to question the anointed one's mouthings at that time – all anybody cared about was to "elect that black man" or we will all be deemed racists. SEIU members and their leader, Stern,are just the initial arm of his policy enforcement mechanism that will be, no doubt, absorbed into his Americorps army. And look at all of the cozy relationships that the Administration has had with Stalinists, Linenists, socialists, anarchists, and Black Nationalists: William Ayres, Reverend Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Van Jones, Anita Dunn, Andy Stern, George Soros, Daily Kos, National Endowment for the Arts, and on and on. What do you think they are planning? An Easter egg hunt on the lawn of the White House for the white children of all area Republicans? A convention to strengthen the Constitution? I'm very glad you were able to get the police involved. All too many times it seems they are nowhere to be found when these thugs try to enforce the will of "the one". Obama mentioned building a civilian army and it seems the SEIU is trying to fill that role. This is not the behavior of people who believe in freedom and democracy.

I’ve been in a trade union for 20 years (IBEW electrical workers) and I’ve only seen oppresive behavior by greedy corporations trying to get low cost illegals and low quality work for cheap. That being said, SEIU is obviously an arm of the Obama adminstration as is ACORN. Broad indictments of ALL unions is as stupid and ignorant as a broad generalization of conservatives as birthers and illiterate Wal Mart shopping trailer trash.

The Orwellian term "free speech zone" was coined in 2004 by the Democrats when they used them to insulate Democratic convention-goers from the Anti-war extremists who were threatening to disrupt the convention to pressure the party into cutting and running in Iraq. For all their anti-war rhetoric the Democrats were intent on giving the impression that they were against the war they had authorized but were unwilling to actually be caught out at undermining the effort. In other words they lied to appease their base. I know. Crappy…But that's just what they do with the full acquiescence of the press.

Not to be picky but…They have no problem tolerating "descent". It's dissent against their edicts they cannot stand. Dissent is like a Christian Cross shaped Super-soaker full of holy water to the vampire democrats.
Take solace in the fact that Americorp kids, as it stands, couldn't find their ass if it was handed to them…And I've seen it handed to them more than once by some of the very the people they were tasked with helping. They would need alot of training to become a threat in the street-fighting sense. Not that that isn't possible in the upcoming well-funded Obama Civilian thug program, but still…They were hardly the SA.
I got to know a few of these bright-eyed youth a few years back and it was a constant chore warning them off the pure stupidity of their personal choices. Don't get me wrong, the ones I knew had the best of intentions and did some good for orphaned children but they were clueless outside the confines of a comfy prepared program. They knew everything of course.
Anyway, the group I knew lived in the "cool" bad part of town in a 'not-as-safe-as-it-seemed' gated apartment building and rarely locked their doors. These geniuses thought nothing of walking the dark street to score coke and weed or other 'smart' things like skinny dip alone at secluded beaches with a well-earned reputation for being dangerous. I remember one skinny girl who stated that the dealers would "protect her" if there was trouble. They didn't. Another innocent young Americorp coke connoisseur ended up with a caved in skull on account of her shacking up (literally) in a remote area with a hipster who had beaten her a couple times. Well she didn't lock her door and some thug walked right in off the street and nearly killed her with a 2×4 for a few dollars and some kicks. That's her story at least, but I suspect it was her boyfriend who did it. Half of the other Americorp posse were beaten and/or robbed over the course of a just a few months. Only one of them has ever returned.
The streets were not their natural habitat but that could very well 'change'.

JANET why must you blamed other peoples actions on Obama or anyone else? What those people did to Mr. Gladney was just plan wrong and bullying. And how in the world you conjured up in your mind that Obama is radical? Radical is when you lie about mass destruction weapons that didn't exist to coerce someone to fight in a war. What about the radical socialist agenda of Enron Coporation to still from the American people and the Bush Administration received millions in contributions? Remember Obama is only trying to clean up what Bush messed up. Bush misled our country for the entire eight years of his administration but yet you expect Obama to come in in a matter of months and perform miracles? Believe me in time "OUR President" will help America recover and get back on our feet. Because "Yes we can!"
