It is about proving that ACORN seems to be complicit in any number of crimes, whether actively, or PASSIVELY. O'Keefe said the date was the default on the video machine. He did not want to reset it all the time. The videos were taken in July and August of this year, I believe he said.

And I'd be careful of concluding it isn't true (yet). After she divorced her first husband and before she married her latest husband she was apparently put on probation for some case involving a death on 12/31/1996 said probation being lifted in 2008. The lifting is available online, but the original case isn't. The criminal charge of "PC CRIMINAL" and Severity of "Z" have been reported elsewhere as meaning a death was involved. If her latest husband is her THIRD husband instead of her SECOND husband, then perhaps a second husband DID die. Or perhaps this case is totally unrelated.

Can anyone in San Bernadino get access to the offline case file from the 12/31/1996 case… Arrested/Bailed 3/26/1997. Case FVI05722 Defendant 96745 KAELKE, TRESA MARIE (Kaelke was her name when the probation was lifted… it doesn't say (online) what her name was in 1996/1997).

I think this video hurts your case against ACORN more than it helps. Unless you have proof that she actually killed someone, this new video only serves as a distraction and is going to only be used to attack the messenger. People are focusing on Tresa having "killed someone" or been an escort which has either shown to be false or unverifiable. Nothing "really happened there and her claim that she was only "playing" with you guys seems more likely given the outrageousness of Tresa's claims. It's bad enough that "conversative media" jumps on it because of it's sensationalistic nature but if you're looking for "fair and balanced" journalism, falling into the habits of the mainstream media, and over "sensationalizing" your material (San Bernardino Office) takes away from the gains you've made unless you have more solid updates to offer.

No, but I wouldn't assume that if she told 2 strangers she killed her husband in self-defense, that the police would come and arrest her. The fact is, the police have questioned her, at least according to one of the articles, and so far, they don't find a dead husband. Hopefully they will look into it some more, but regardless, whether or not she lied about the murder is really irrelevant to the rest. All I'm saying is, the alleged murder is irrelevant to the culture of corruption in Acorn. Unless they helped her cover it up, and there is no indication of that.

I am a liberal and would like to say that ANY acts such as these or any other social disregard incidents from EITHER side of the political spectrum should be fully investigated.

I know she's an adult and everything, but this video is the least humorous for me. The others were just rediculous, but this lady is for real (not saying that the other's weren't she just seems different – in a whole lot of ways). You can tell that this lady has been to hell and back. Granted, she created her own hell by her choices, but her immediate compassion for "Eden" makes me feel sorry for her… I know the stuff she says is funny…but, I don't know, I guess, it's really not. It's just sad.

Frankly I think that Kaelke could well have been somewhat frightened, though possibly seeing opportunity. She is somewhat self-possessed – that may indicate not lack of fear but some past experience with dangerous people. Maybe I’m wrong, but take it as a devil’s advocate argument. Here’s the scenario for the fear conjecture:

Kaelke keeps leaning against a convex wall corner like it were a partial shield.

Kaelke tells them that she has a proven capacity for killing, as if in warning to them, but also poses it as protection for them, saying that she was going to threaten with death the man whom she had sent them to talk to, threaten him in case he thought of causing them problems.

Most tellingly, Kaelke plants seeds of division between them during the “girl talk” while O’Keefe is somewhere else. She tells Giles that she (Giles) will break his heart and Giles tends to agree. That encourages Kaelke. Kaelke warns Giles to be careful in case O’Keefe is the wrong kind of person. When O’Keefe returns, Kaelke builds O’Keefe up in order to lay groundwork for easing his future letdown by Giles and says “If you love something, let it go.” That statement would plant suspicions in his mind (and in the mind of any alert possessive boyfriend) as to the subject matter of the preceding private “girl talk,” induce him to see the letdown-groundwork in that light, and quite possibly lead to a fight between “pimp” (O’Keefe) and “prostitute” (Giles) later on.

Freeze all Rathke personal funds. They are flight risk.

If I had to guess, I'd say the person being interviewed was nothing more than a warm body there to man the phones. I applaud the work Hannah and James have done here, but think they might have been even more successful (like in Cities where ACORN employees asked them to leave) if their costumes weren't so over the top. Hannah was still credible, but she could have toned it down a bit. But if James walked into my office in that get up, I would have instantly known I was being played for a fool. I guess some ACORN workers aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

The reason why this happened is because of government cutbacks – social spending has been attacked so hard that the government now outsources a lot of social work to nonprofits like ACORN. They pay pretty low wages, near the poverty line. So, who can they hire?

They need people who are literate, and for this mortgage counseling thing, can do some math. Some of the applicants are going to be "smart people who screwed up", i.e. maybe went to work for a mortgage company and now it's gone, or in this lady's case, messed up her life but seems to be on the mend.

That said, ACORN is probably better at getting the job done than the government, precisely because they are willing to hire marginal people. They were supposed to do some census work, to outreach to marginal communities like immigrants, homeless, and people in welfare hotels. I bet ACORN would have paid less than they paid the regular census takers.

Yes, actually, when you see wealthy looking people talking about committing crimes so brazenly, you can assume that they're connected-and-protected. Politicians get away with all kinds of stuff, and when you're actually working around them, you find out there are crooked ones on all sides (Dem and GOP). You also find good ones, too, and on both sides.

Jim and Tresa are kinda scary too… but with those kinds, you can just move away from them. With the rich kind of crooks, they have the money to find you and mess up your life.

Ummm… why would you "play along?" Why would you make up that you murdered someone? If you thought it was a sting opperation, wouldn't you tell Hannah (during their alone time) that she needs to find someone who cares about her and wouldn't sell her for campaign money? What is striking is none of these people called their other offices. I mean, if I worked there I would first call the cops and then probably call around and see if other offices had experienced something like that, but these people seem so used to it like a) they're involved in it or b) they see it everyday, both of which are probably true.

Tresa scares me the most. She is outgoing and lovable (granted, if you ignore the actions she just did). I could see how her charisma could draw people in. Her being the fun grandma is a fantastic statement. She would be a great organizer since I think a lot of young people could relate to her fun-loving and open-minded attitude. She could recruit big time. What scared me more, however, is her willingness to commit crime. Most of the other employees were hesitant. The guy in San Diego lowered his voice, as did the Jamaican-sounding woman in Brooklyn when dishing out advice. Their body language showed they were uncomfortable. They didn't want to say prostitute. They wanted to ignore that the girls were underage. They didn't want to look at James and Hannah in the eye (Brooklyn). They were fully aware of what they were doing was wrong, and a part of them seemed to be aware of it and fearful of it, yet they continued their actions. Tresa just acted like she was talking to a young teen asking for help with math. Maybe (read: hopefully) the others can look back in a few years and realize what they did was wrong, maybe their conscience will betray their actions and they will feel true guilt, but Tresa? She just doesn't care.

The only crazies are the two idiots who thought they had a scoop, the entire Fox organization who slurped it, and the morons who believe this crap.

I can't begin to describe how proud I am of Miss Giles and Mister O'Keefe, they give me hope for my generation. Way to go! The Baltimore lawsuit against you, Hannah, James and the others is baseless but above that it's illegal. The Federal government, yes the same gov that controls ACORN, a federal agency, mandates that citizens who know of criminal and or unethical activities must use whatever means they can to report those activities. Now if I remember basic Gov 101 from my law enforcement training. Federal law supersedes Local laws. Therefore, Hannah and James "covert activities to obtain information" knowing that a crime or unethical practices "might" be present in the Baltimore office, would not fall under local Gov jurisdiction. In other words, It would not have been illegal to video tape a government employee working for a government agency when they suspected that that agency may be involved in criminal or unethical practices. In actuality, you are in fact committing a crime if you don't report it and you are aware of it and culd face criminal prosecution under Federal Law. About the only thing that ACORN might be able bring charges against Ms. Giles, would be, as we say, reaching for the stars, they might be able to charge Hannah with signing a federal document with a phony name, that is if she did. This of course would be a federal crime, but I seriously doubt that any respectable prosecutor would even consider prosecuting the case. The worst that would happen if she was found guilty, would be a defered sentence and community service. But, hey, her community service could be to go undercover at, say…The Treasury department. Also one last thing. Do you think those poor misunderstood (sic) ACORN employees would have been so helpful to Hannah if Hannah was an Asian or other ethnicity who gave them the same story? Perhaps even a large obese woman? I wonder if Hannah's beauty and youthful charm didn't contribute to some of ACORN's helpful suggestions. If a woman like Hannah walked into my office. I would be as helpful as I could. I probably would have tried to talk her out of Prostitution and into something more rewarding and life changing. Such as a political lobbyist.
