The Dems Don’t Trust Obama – for Good Reason
by Greg Knapp
All this talk about reconciliation is a distraction from the bigger picture: In one year Obama has lost his own party. He can’t get them to pass his signature bill. And now he has lost their trust. (Even though the media rarely mentions it, he had a filibuster proof majority in the senate and a super majority in the house and he STILL couldn’t get it done.)
The WSJ has a great piece on this
The cleanest option for Democrats would be for the House to pass the Senate’s Christmas Eve bill word for word, thereby bypassing a Senate filibuster under the normal rules and forwarding ObamaCare directly to the Rose Garden signing ceremony. But Speaker Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly said the votes simply don’t exist for the Senate bill as is…
Thus the convoluted scheme the White House has mapped out. The House would first pass the Senate bill, and then pass a reconciliation bill that addresses these objections—in effect converting the process into a makeshift and unprecedented vehicle for amendments…
Iron-clad promise—or double-cross? After all, the White House would much prefer the Senate bill, because by its lights the cost-control programs are tougher than what the House prefers…
In other words, perhaps Mr. Obama has embraced this reconciliation two-step only to renege as soon as the House gives him what he wants.
Add in Rep. Massa’s (D-NY) accusations that Obama’s boys booted him out because he voted against the “health care” bill and the allegations that Obama gave away a judicial appointment to Congressman Matheson (D-Utah) to get his vote for health care and the unbelievable has occurred. The bill looks sleazier than it did after the Cornhusker Kickback, The Louisiana Purchase and the Gator Aid.
Moderate Democrats can’t trust their own president. Getting ANY health care bill passed is now Obama’s top priority. He has convinced himself that it will be his legacy. He knows it’s very unpopular with the American people. (Even SNL knows that). But he believes the people just don’t know what’s good for them and they will eventually thank him for it. The lefties think you are too stupid to handle your own affairs – watch Robert Reich.
REICH: Yes, let them compete across state lines, fine. But not a race to the bottom. Set minimum federal standards because we’ve seen over and over again that the recipients of health insurance don’t know what they are buying very often. Until there are common standards, minimal standards, then people are going to be taken. And that is what’s happened over and over again.
WILL: There you have the premise of this legislation and the core of today’s liberalism: the American people are such dopes they can’t be counted upon to buy their own insurance.
See, they are smarter than you and you need to let them make the major decisions in your life. They want the government in charge of your retirement, your health care, your education, and even the amount of money you make.
I’m seriously worried how close they are to having their way. Thankfully, I think people are waking up.
Hey, Obama finally apologized for health care and I know how long Charlie Rangel’s “leave of absence” will be. Check it out.

Sleazy is the correct description for this bill as well as the entire administration.
God help us all ~
To quote Dan Rather, "He couldn't sell watermelons"………….
I wouldn't trust this guy to run a Popsicle stand let alone have a hand in my health care or anyone's "education", he's hack, plain and simple!
I like Chris Muir's approach in Day by Day this morning. He draws about Massa being intimidated by a nude Rahm Emanuel.
When the inner circle falls apart, Obama doesn't have much left.
This entire administration is about as sleazy and corrupt as I have ever seen in my lifetime!!! Massa's reason's for quitting BEFORE he cast his 'no' vote, don't add up though…he should have stuck around to vote, and NOT be forced to resign!!! If his allegations are true, he could have brought the entire Obam mob down from the inside!!! TOO many back room deals are being made for this bunch to have any creditability left!!! IMPEACH NOW!!!!
Yes you can now add the "Beehive Boondoggle" to the list of graft and corruption doled out in order to try and wrest the last vestiges of our freedom away from us.
It is totally amazing what they choose to call this POS. There are many things the vast majority of both citizens and taxpayers would be willing to support to improve the situation as many have already given excellent articulation to. The one from the past which I have not seen anywhere is Major Medical. If you only paid for a plan that covered "The BIG ONE" almost all working folks could afford it. The issue in my mind is a disconnect by many over need and want. Most can or should be able to afford to pay for a Dr's visit and reasonable routine healthcare expenses. When the standard requires minimalist co-pays then there is a gross overconsumpution by many to get their fair share plus. All the Dr's visits and testings and fancy meds for routine stuff does not make you any more healthy. A large dose of common sense goes a long way and far too many feel the need for checking out at a very high cost every single gas bubble that they have in life. That is where much of the out and out waste is in our current system IMHO.
The funny thing is that when people spend their own money they usually get smarter.
They want us to trust them with our life at a time when they can't trust each other in day to day activities and yet think we're the dumb ones!
Yea, this President's track record on the subject of honest, leave a little bit to be desired…

Hopefully they get rid of medicare. Oh, wait, its bankrupt and unsustainable, soon we won't have to pay for the fatties.
Yes, if high risk fatties had to pay for their own healthcare they would have incentive to lay the twinkies down.
Mr. Knoxs, what's the difference between medicare and the current desire to claim more of the healthcare frontier?
Remember, people with no honor will end up fighting eachother.
They have moved the snake exhibit to the white house it would apprear. One can only wonder now if the donkeys, asses and mules will move into the congress.
Even the wild has more order than the current government has.
Quote for the day: He who has the greatest exposure to the taxpayers wallet has the greatest buying power!
Common sense says he should have stayed to cast his no vote, however I'm willing to wait to hear what he has to day today on Beck – I'm guessing there has to be more to that decision that meets the eye -
Well son, not much, just another big power grab. The republicans should have been pushing to do away with medicare slowly over time, and restructuring health insurance into actual risk based insurance.
They should have looked to remove special interest conditions from the market like Big Pharma.
Instead, they ignored the bankrupty, became reactionary, and suddenly got interested when Obama decided he was going to do it his way.
True Sunshine that all the fancy meds and tests do not make you more healthy, what they do is cover the doctors a$$ from lawsuits -
Andy: So Barry, I have been riding you for some time now on the healthcare bill. My unions do not have the money to cover the promises we made. Time is running out for you to make good on our investement in you.
Barry: Now Andy, don't get weeweed up again. I have Rahm working on it in the sentate showers. Soon soon we will get that bill passed.
Andy: Next time I visit George, I have to have that bill signed – understand.
Barry: I am using all Rahms tricks and I just can't get it passed. Why don't I appoint you to a committee so you can get it done yourself – you are up here most days anyway?
Andy: That may be the only way it gets done. I'm in.
Make that ALOT to be desired wldbil
What Reich seems to be overlooking is that there might actually be people who only want coverage for regular doctors visits but perhaps not that cover major surgery. Such plans would undoubtedly be cheaper and should therefore have lower premiums. The "standards" he proposes ensures that everyone pays a minimum and that many people would likely have more coverage than they actually need.
Personally I would love to have a plan that covered routine visits and exams but I don't necessarily need more than that. As I become older and more frail I might consider more comprehensive coverage but for the time being I am healthy enough to stick with routine check ups and care. My premium should reflect that and not be increased just to cover those whom the government wants to have it for free.
I agree the Massa reasons don't seem to add up. But then we have no idea what kind of threats were thrown at the guy. Did they threaten to go after his family? Would the media be camped out on his front lawn? Would his kids be harassed in school? Would SEIU thugs be shadowing his every step?
Is this just "paranoia?" I mean really, there are no dead bodies found around chicago-style politics, right?
"I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial." ( Rev. Wright) "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with " …
~ Sen. Barack Obama ~
"I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community "
I said it months ago…that Obama is clinically insane. How else do you explain this healthcare kerfuffle, clusterfuch, kerfuch and clusterfuffle among the DEMOCRAT controlled House and Senate. The man is a walking disaster with no experience except Chicago thuggery. (Massa should have files a sexual harrassment lawsuit against Rahm).
"I don't belong to an organized political party, I'm a Democrat" ~ Roy Rogers
Still holds to be VERY true today, all we need to do is grab the popcorn and watch them implode…
Legislators know full well their little health care debacle would lose the instant it hit the courts. That's why they didn't do it when they had the votes to do so.
They got so entrenched in the Bash Bush – Bash Republicans mentality that they lost track of the fact that opposition cannot lead. They haven't done anything they said they would do and have done that which they decried. They spent more debt based "money" and raised taxes "cigarettes". They didn't close GITMO, they didn't even change the Patriot act when they reauthorized it, cap and trade fell on it's face and so did their health care blah blah. Next up, Illegal Immigration. It will fail too.
Obama Pres__ency – Epic Fail.
This is what happens when a person lies endlessly by promising to be all things to all people. In the end, everyone sees the reality – ala Jimmah Cahtah.
You follow the slide show from the Republican fundraising strategy,
small donors are motivated by "fear" and are "reactionary"
Mr. Pres__ent,
We The People do not need more expensive government programs. We just need to be able to engage in private sector business among one another absent government regulation as an unwelcome third party to two party contracts. We need to be able to earn, keep and decide to spend our own wealth without government mandate, ban and imposition.
We need more Freedom Mr Pres__ent, not more government.
The Dems should be afraid of Obama, as all Americans should be afraid. Obama will be King of Amerika and all citizens should be very afraid as Obama will turn on all that might hint/think of dissent…ready the guillotines, gulags, death panels, and sham courts!
(note: Insite into Obama's mind–in interview on civilian trial for KSM, KSM will be found guilty and executed, the Obama Amerika utopia coming soon to your community.)
Could it be possible? Could it be true? Some Dems have vomited up their kool-aid and have realized what a liar, scumbag, thug, selfish thug NObama is?
This HC crap is poison to our freedom!
You have it all wrong. Insurance would cover the risks you don't anticipate, and the regular visits would be out of pocket.
"he had a filibuster majority in the senate, and a super majority in the house, and he still couldn't get it done"…..
LOL
Death panels for all. Oh no, oh no.
Note: For the small donors motivated by "fear" and "reactionary" I do not support this healthcare reform

"The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters."
Mr. Executive order is at it again….Oh yeah, he has got it all right……
You should pay for regular doctor visits and have insurance only for catastrophic coverage. It's like your car insurance – you pay for the oil changes, tires, brakes, but the insurance is used for when the car is stolen or severely damaged in an accident. With home owners, you pay for the maintenance of your home, but if a tornado hits, the insurance steps in.
It is foolish to think that you would only want catastrophic insurance AFTER you become unhealthy. That is one of the major problems – people don't get insurance until they get sick and then whine when their pre-existing condition isn't covered. Do you really expect an insurance company, which only makes 2% profit anyway, to keep premiums low when the only people that want the insurance need hundreds of thousands of dollars of medical treatment.
I remember not so long ago, before HMOs, that you went to the doctor and paid the bill YOURSELF! If you had insurance, you saved up until you reached the deductible, and then started turning in receipts and receive 80% back. There was no waiting time, you got the tests you really needed, and you only went to the doctor if necessary. No running the kid to the doctor because he has a runny nose. Because the doctor visits are artificially low, people run to the doctor with every little sniffle, demand an antibiotic, and then complain that their premiums go up and that antibiotics cease to work after a while (when you REALLY need them)
So let's put Insurance back into play and remove the tie to employment as a benefit.
So true. I do think if folks had to pay say 50% of the fancy test today or tomorrow to be sure, just in case,
that then they would be more apt to follow the Drs advice of let's give this a couple of weeks and see if it takes care of itself. But now we test for piece of mind and the costs are covered by everyone else.
Mr.President, we do not want this bill. Can you here me now? Better yet can you here us yet? If not, you will very, very soon at your own peril.

The Obama Legecy. He will always be remembered as the President who put and end to progressivism unintentially. Be sure to write from Kenya.
This is, uhhh, completely wrong. That's not that "insurance" is. Insurance is a hedge against the unknown. If you already know that you need to go to the doctor 4-6 times a year, then that's not unknown and you don't need insurance. You need a budget.
What you describe is what Milton Friedman once called "prepaid healthcare" and you're welcome to go look for it, just don't expect fellow taxpayers to pay for it.
And, FWIW, it's not your employer's duty to give it to you either. If he's generous enough to offer such a plan, then good for you, but you shouldn't expect it from him, either. That's exactly the distortion that's cause prices to go up in the first place.
You'd know all about that because it's what motivated you to donate so often to the Obama Campaign, right? OMG, McCain will just be another Bush! Bush is ebil! I must donate …
Obama is in the prophecy business.
Does that mean we can get rid of Oprah?
Noticed Michelle hasn't gone on her show to discuss obesity yet. Has she? Why hasn't the obese Surgeon General gone out to talk about these things? Remember her? They're hiding her as if she does not exist.
Make our health care coverage for catastrophic issues only with supplemental for folks who have chronic conditions. Expand access to HSAs for people to pay for routine care out of pocket as they need it. If people started buying into their catastrophic early (make it cheap and they would), they might have enough built up on the policy to cover their senior years for quite a while without either supplemental or Medicare being necessary. Change Medicaid into vouchers to allow low income folks to pay for their own catastrophic + HSA set up. Axe most of two huge government bureaucracies …
Talking to yourself?
Already happened. Wouldn;t you call Franken the Senate Ass?
The only people I have LESS trust and respect for than FUBO and his band of bloodsuckers…………….is the MSM and the 'enlightened' people who bought into the whole 'hoax and chains' hype!!! It wasn't really too hard to figure out who this phony was BEFORE he got elected………..and he's PROVING it every day!!! To paraphrase Arizona Cardinals ex-coach – 'he IS who we thought is IS'!!!!! FUBO!!!!!!!
What you want is an HSA that will let you cover routine care. You still need catastrophic insurance to cover the major stuff and unforeseen emergencies. Just like no car insurance on earth will pay for your wreck if you buy in _after_ you ruin your car, no health insurance company should be forced to give you reduced rates if you expect them to cover your new chronic condition _after_ you find out you have it. The insurance company offers you a policy based on you not needing it. They're betting you'll pay in more to them than they will have to pay out on you. That whole equation is borked if you wait to buy in until you need them to pay out.
- Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and all their Progressive Socialists, including the SEIU thugs who pull the strings on Obama, who is their little Puppet, have taught America a terrorizing lesson–
– IF YOUR GOVERNMENT IGNORES YOU, AND MAKES UN-ETHICAL DEALS, AND WANTS TO CONTROL
EVERY FACET OF YOUR LIFE, GET RID OF THEM AND ANYONE LIKE THEM IN THE FUTURE!
– They fooled us, and snuck into "The People's House" but their Lease is almost over! They have Terrorized America for a whole year, and ground American-productivity to a HALT. Their demise is around the corner.
If he listened to the people he would not be in the trouble he's in.
They'll take my fishing over my cold, dead body.
I'll say it again. If this bill was truly everything it was being sold to be, it would pass easily with wide bipartisan support. The fact that they can't even hold their own party together is one thing, but the fact that 36 states are currently working on legislation to block it should be the biggest red flag. I've heard people say that the 36 state objection is all just Republican opposition, but I only count 20 so-called red states on the red/blue map I managed to find.
He's the criminally insane leader of ego maniacal self indulgent manic depressive overgrown sycophantic children with borderline personality disorder and psychotic Marxists.
That just described his Cabinet, and Czars.
Watermelons … those green on the outside, red on the inside things?
Yeah, he is having trouble selling himself lately.
I'm not sure you even know what you're talking about.
Actually, they're trying to get rid of healthcare entirely for the elderly except for the most minor of treatments. Hope you aren't one of those. This is all about selling insurance to raise money, prop up the unions by unionizing doctors, nurses and hospitals and forcing them to pay dues (which in turn are donated to help Dems get elected), bloat the federal government even further by creating 111 new federal agencies and giving the IRS access to everyone's bank accounts. It's about power and control over our lives, healthcare and wallets. BTW, a panel was authorized in the stimu-less bill and has already been created to determine who gets treatment and who doesn't, based upon age, cost and usefulness to society. Isn't that just ducky?
That's Will Rogers not Roy.
My bad… I had Roy on my mind when I typed it out…
KSM SHOULD be executed. But Obama and Holder appeared to be tainting the jury pool so that KSM would either get off on a technicality or the death penalty would have to be thrown out.
Yes, absolutely. Insurance has nothing to do with employment.
Obama is just a third term of Bush. Rudy McRomney's all would have been similar as well.
Government has no business telling fatty how to live. It's a personal choice to be lazy, even if it drives healthcare costs up. If fatties paid their own healthcare, then incentive would be provided to change a poor lifestyle choice.
The way healthcare is set up now, other people pay for those poor choices. That is part of the myriad of problems.
I agree with most of what you say. However, really their is no limit to care unless one is dependent upon government. A whole class of people and the way insurance is rigged has helped create this dependency.
I hope as Washington continues to lose revenue, medicare will end and government will stay out of yet another market.
and if the GOP fails to listen to us after 2010 they will be in trouble too!
So if the GOP retakes the house are they going to have the stones to subpeona BHO's student records, his indonesian green card, various passports, and his certificate of live birth? Are they going to follow up and end this nighmare we call our POTUS? Why should he hide behind all those lawyers if he is an innocent citizen of the world?
Fess up Barry the Fraud!
"their is no limit to care unless one is dependent upon government"… ah, but there's the rub. The game is fixed. Obama's plan gradually forces ALL onto the Govt. program. Built into the plan are triggers that will push everyone onto the Govt. plan over time. Changes in job status, changes in premiums charged, changes in how much your employer contributes – all set off triggers that make you suddenly only eligible for Govt. coverage. Obama even said in multiple speeches, his goal is a single payer Govt system that puts the Insurance industry out of business. Check You Tube and you can listen to them.
Obama is so darnn cute! That's it-that's all I've got.
I wish everyone would read this thread, cause you are right-on…
I've been saying this for years, and when I do, I get a look, like,
"are you crazy"…"Why should I have to pay for a Doctor's visit
when my insurance covers it….I even had an Aunt that used to
call going to the hospital, "a vacation"…It's unbelievable how the
unions and politicians have runined our healthcare system
through the years…Now we have millions of people thinking it's
a right…….Unbelievable!!
I stand corrected, thank you.
p { margin: 0; }
I received it, however..:)
Kind of looks like 007 in that picture doesnt he? "Barack, Barack Obama" Phooey.
This is how Washington has been ran for years please.
Obamafield, this is a great take on our PRESIDENT.

I left a similar comment earlier but it either disappeared or one of the escapees from the cookoo's nest felt compelled to whine about it.
I'm sure the list is endless when it comes to progressive derangement disorder..
I'm not in disagreement with that, my only point I wanted to add is that Americans need to understand that it would be beneficial to end medicare as well. But too many have become dependent to do it swiftly, it would have to be phased out. But neither party would want to do that.

Amen.
I wonder why we don't have the government trying to take control of the computer industry, setting minimum standards of performance (and price controls which make solvency impossible). It seems to me that ever since multi-core processors came into vogue, people have as much idea of what they're buying as when they buy health insurance. (Seriously, who can answer just how swiftly software X is going to run on a dual-core processor of Y GHz?)

I agree. It should be the businesses choice. Personally I admire companies that invest in their employees health through wellness programs. I'm not well informed regarding the different insurances companies must or do carry but I would think that ensuring employees all carry personal coverage may reduce the risk carried by the companies own coverage.
I would like to know why Obama hates God? Don't tell me you believe in Jesus and kill babies. I don't believe you. You are a liar and there is no truth in you. I dont care who you are. Try to imagine Jesus killing a baby. according to the lawyers they will not be able to stop funding abortionson the Senate bill. Regulations won't allow it.
